Generally we will use Join.me for ad-hoc screen sharing sessions with customers. My department uses it. It allows us to quickly establish a session with our customers to troubleshoot problems that they may be having with other applications.
  • It is easy to access and use with just a couple of clicks.
  • No large plugin installation needed like some other utilities (such as GoToMeeting). Quick download and launch.
  • Typically, the UI is very responsive with screen sharing.
  • It's random sometimes when it will require you to login. This is troublesome for our remote customers as it's another step they may have to take.
  • CPU utilization can get quite high. This happens both on my MacBook Pro and also on Windows VMs.
  • Recently the application has either hung or not installed/launched properly in Windows.
  • Depending on the technical savvy of the remote user, they sometimes want to go to join.me.com or are simply confused when directed to "Go to join dot me in your web browser."
As previously mentioned, whenever you need to do an ad-hoc screen sharing meeting with someone, join.me serves that purpose quite well. If you are presenting often, you can also just have your own join.me address for others to join. For larger sessions with multiple people, I would think that something like GoToMeeting would be more appropriate.

  • Allows us to save money by being able to use the product without cost (especially so for customers who have to share their screens with us).
  • Faster response time with customers and problem determination.
Overall, it is generally more simple for users to start their own sessions with join.me than the other solutions. This is the primary reason we tend to use join.me over the others. However, we tend to use GoToMeeting when we are doing presentations or conference calls.

Systems administrators and developers use join.me for remote sessions with customers. This can be anything from product demos to troubleshooting / support.
We don't need to dedicate anyone to this as the product works well and we can contact join.me if there are issues.
  • End-user support.
  • Ad-hoc screen sharing with customers.
  • Product and project demonstrations.
  • Installation of new products into the customers' environments.
  • While there may be some additional features with join.me, the core screen-sharing capabilities are what drive us to its usage.
  • We currently do not use it for audio or video conferencing, but I could see us using it in that manner in the future.
It's easy to use and we don't every have problems with it (other than high cpu usage).
Yes
Instead of using an on-prem product (such as IBM Sametime) or use some other vendor or cloud-based solution, we have found that join.me does what we need for 95% of our use cases for customer support.

Mostly because it's free and simple for our end users / customers to be able to share their screens.
We tend to re-evaluate the application that we request our customers to use for us to provide remote support. We seem to always come back to join.me due to its ease of use.

Change management was minimal
As we are a small organization, there was not any change management involved.
  • Getting the remote support users to understand not to put a ".com" at the end of the "join.me" URL.
This is a fairly simple product which doesn't require much "implementation" work for our use cases.
Thankfully, I have not had to reach out to support. The product just works well when we use it. If there is an issue, it is generally more related to the remote user's computer rather than join.me itself.
No
As mentioned previously, I haven't run into an issue requiring support.
  • Starting a meeting is really simple - launch the application and give the participants the code/url.
  • Quick download / launch generally.
  • Responsive screen-sharing!
  • As mentioned, some end-users have trouble knowing that it's "join dot me" instead wanting to add a .com to it.
  • Sometimes it uses way too much CPU.
Yes, but I don't use it
As mentioned, it's super simple to start using!

Our product department uses join.me to deliver small group or 1:1 training where we primarily leverage screen sharing for demonstration purposes. We also help support the delivery of online education and when our instructors are having trouble, we usually go straight to join.me to help illustrate a solution and train our faculty. While job aids are available, we find that being able to quickly load a program and show someone a step that they might be missing, we can provide tremendous value and support to our clients.
  • No download/installation of a tool or application to start viewing, just open the browser and send the link.
  • Very fast to start a session, no need to schedule an event, send out calendar invitations, have the end user downloading an application.
  • Compatibly with browsers has been outstanding, we do not have to implement workarounds for this product.
  • Our most technologically challenged clients have no issues launching a join.me session.
  • When sharing your screen when you have multiple monitors displayed, it can often be difficult.
  • Screen sharing animations can be choppy.
We do not use join.me as a replacement for web conferencing software. Scheduled meetings with a large volume of participants are more easily facilitated for us with other software. However, for 1:1 and small group settings, especially on the fly, join.me is a huge time saver in both process and deployment.

  • Our team members feel more empowered to help our users, having a quick and reliable tool to initiate and for our users to deploy.
  • As a result, our level customer satisfaction has increased as we can provide immediate and helpful illustrations.
  • We have also been able to reduce our investments in other conferencing software, which we were previously using in a cumbersome fashion, that did not meet our goals.
When there is a very specific task in mind, join.me has served our team exceptionally well for several years. It always makes the budget for renewal, and is one of the first tools that our support staff leverages when helping our clients. Other platforms often carry a higher cost, a longer meeting initiation window, require some technical expertise from the end-user to initiate, and can create delays and frustrations executing a simple task of screen sharing. To be able to send a link that someone can open in their browser, you can have a session launched in seconds, with no worry to your end-user's technical proficiency or hardware requirements to participate.

Basic technical proficiency is all that is required to use the software. We do not have to dedicate any resources to the use of the platform.
  • Technical Support
  • Quick Launching Illustrations
  • Connecting with less technical users
  • We have been able to leverage the recording functionality to create webinars that we have been able to reuse and share.
  • Wider department adoption.
This platform enables a very high ROI for the solution that it provides to our team to support our end-users.

Our end-users with no technical experience can click a link and we can immediately screen share with them, no installation of software on their part, no browser compatibility issues, just click-and-go.
We are quite happy with join.me
  • Implemented in-house
No
Demonstrated the product for key employees, and they started using it.
Change management was minimal
  • Depending on your last use of the product, as the meeting owner, you may have to update your software (the end-user does not, they just launch in a browser)
It was very easy and straight forward to roll out this product.
We have no issues with the system.
No
We rarely, if ever, have to contact technical support. The product works as anticipated, and our end-users have no problems launching the product.
  • Launching a screen sharing session
  • Sending out a link to join the session
  • The end user clicking a link and being joined in, no product installation or compatibility issues
  • It can be difficult to correctly share your screen when using multiple monitors/displays/projecting.
We have never had a problem with and end user being able to connect to our session.
