Kanban Tool is being used by specific groups within the Technology department and the specific business groups that are supported by the same Technology groups. Kanban allows team collaboration between groups whether it's technology or business. Both groups can view, manage and maintain projects using Kanban. The problem that Kanban solves is miscommunication, regarding project status, requirements, and deadlines. Kanban keeps track of projects for all groups and notifies groups of any changes to particular projects. This saves a lot of time for everyone and ensures projects are completed on time.
  • Kanban board is a great visual that shows every team member's projects and all the important information on a single page.
  • Kanban integrates well with JIRA to track and manage projects and quickly retrieve specific information on a project.
  • Kanban allows easy navigation with drag and drop features and smartly notifies the user of each action.
Cons
  • Kanban does not show the task or story clearly. You have to open the project separately to view the details of the project.
  • Kanban gives a higher level project management view but it lacks customization and personal settings features.
  • I would like to see Kanban provide mobile access to their tool, data, and board. This would be very useful for all companies and provide an increase in efficiency and productivity.
Kanban is well suited for a fast-paced working environment for larger teams who want continuous communication with users. Kanban is good for rapid development and daily meetings for updates and statuses. Kanban is less suited for smaller teams or groups who don't require collaboration and constant communication with involved users. Kanban is time-consuming and it takes additional effort outside of your regular work to maintain and manage the tool.

  • Kanban has helped both business and technology groups to meet project deadlines more often and on time.
  • Kanban has allowed the business to visually track and receive live updates on any project whereas before they had to schedule meetings and take the time to ask and understand all the details. Kanban provides all of this information and makes it accessible to all users.
  • Kanban has given project managers to easily monitor and manage projects and quickly retrieve any data related to a particular team's work-flow process.
  • Kanban has given technical users the ability to manage their own projects while communicating their progress and updates to their users and team leads or managers.
Kanban is superior to Scrum and AGILE because it can visually organize all your projects and data into one board. Kanban integrates with JIRA which digs deeper into the project data when it is needed. By integrating Kanban with JIRA, you don't need any other tool for project management that is effective for both the business and the development teams. Kanban is recommended for any user groups who wish to increase their efficiency to deliver products, transparency for all users and on-time productivity.

Kanban Tool is used as a bug and task tracking system. We use several dashboards. Each dashboard is used for a project/software. In one way or the other the card is a placer for a bug or task to be carried out through the life cycle of the software. Kanban is used across the whole organization. It helps track bugs and tasks as needed.
  • Ability to add 'cards' which track bugs, tasks, etc.
  • User can change the look of the cards (colors). Can change priority, Who the card is assigned to, Card Type, and many other customizations.
  • User is able to add attachments and links to a card.
  • User is able to add comments and track card history.
Cons
  • Search functionality needs some improvement.
  • Would be nice: ability to send a notification to selected people when a card is created/opened.
  • Unable to sort cards - change their order visually.
Kanban Tool is sufficient for tracking bugs.

We are more likely than not to renew our use of Kanban. Even with its limits, it still is a good product that fulfills our needs.
Haven't directly worked with support but the couple of issues that I had were promptly responded to and functionality adjusted for our use.
I don't work directly with the product support. My comments, concerns, questions, etc. go through another person. But they are promptly responded to.
  • Adding a card
  • Adding a comment and sending a notification
  • Assigning the card to appropriate person
  • Assigning priority level to card
  • Attaching links and images to card
  • Search function
It's good but has room for growth!

Kanban Tool is a good entry point to managing agile software development

Kanban Tool is being used in places around our org to support agile-esque activities for remote teams. Our primary process is very stand-up meeting focused and the principles of the Kanban Tool are pretty close to in line with what we want to accomplish. It shows the movement of model-based activities across a project timeline.
  • It provides a good basic overview of where tasks are on a timeline (particularly helpful for a pull-based approach).
  • It provides a good collaborative space to have multiple folks commenting on multiple tasks.
  • It does a good job of managing very basic visual elements of an agile development cycle.
Cons
  • There isn't a strong UI on the tool. Customizations can be difficult to make.
  • There isn't a very robust communications component on the tool to facilitate conversations—it's WYSIWYG.
  • The mobile story isn't fully developed yet. It could stand to be stronger on mobile devices.
It is good for pure development (software) projects that use agile. It is not as strong for mixed development efforts that involve more hardware or Q/RA activities. It breaks down a little when traditional project timelines need to run in parallel with agile methodology.

  • It was a good experiment, but not robust enough to manage both hardware and software.
  • It's a great software tool for distributed teams running an agile environment.
  • It has given us a more clear understanding of what we actually need to do HW/SW agile.
Again, this is a strong tool for software teams using Agile that are distributed across multiple geographies. It can be good for co-located teams too, but there are better platforms on the market like JIRA that provide a more built-out story.
We didn't leverage the support system for Kanban Tool, so I cannot comment on it.
JIRA is more robust and more connected. Kanban Tool is a good basic tool to do basic tasks. At an enterprise level, JIRA has more to offer a mixed discipline team that has hardware and software builds (model-based design). For small teams doing just software development in an agile methodology, Kanban Tool is as good as anything at managing the basic burn-down activity.
