We use Kendo UI for the development of our new product, fully developed in a web environment.
Since 2013 we have been using Kendo and keep electing year after year.
The implementation issues we have had were quickly answered, using the ticket system for support in 24 or 48 hours we have an answer.
  • It has robust objects to process data remotely with our REST service.
  • It has a lot of widgets. The visual and graphic components are very powerful and easy to use.
  • They constantly progress by adding more functionality and a better product.
  • Online support responds correctly and quickly.
  • It allows you to extend the components or create new components in an easy way.
  • It would be good if they offered the possibility of paying for customized improvements.
  • It would be very useful to present training for subscribers
I really have not found scenarios where it would not be appropriate to use Kendo UI.
  • We are in a stage of development of our product. So far we have made small developments and the acceptance by the users was very good!
We did not make an empirical product comparison. At the time of making the decision, what was offered by its competitors was taken into account.

You must have knowledge of HTML, Javascript, CSS, POO. Not much more.
  • We are using the product for the development of our new products.
  • We use Kendo with a module loading system in demand.
  • Hybrid applications, for example.

Something very positive is the complete documentation of all your widgets and the support system.
My selection would not change, we would continue to choose Kendo.

First, we tested the operation with a small product, we have put it into operation and we have tested the acceptance of our users and the performance of the library.
Once we could verify that the product did the job very well, we decided to redesign our desktop products in a totally web environment using the Kendo libraries.
Change management was minimal
  • We did not have major problems presented in the implementation.
We had a very satisfactory implementation

I have also received points in my account, which can be used to obtain a discount on the next license renewal.
Yes, it has happened that the problem we had was not an error, but it was a functionality that the component did not have and we needed a lot, and they have helped me to solve it.

We have not yet used the mobile interface.
I really believe that Kendo is easy to use. With the help of its documentation, the implementation of MVVM standards, and online support, there should be no major drawbacks.
You can create new components. It can be used together with Angular.
The errors that we have detected were not of great importance and the online support provided a temporary solution until the next release.

Kendo UI Review

It's used across the entire organisation. 3 of our 4 developers use Kendo UI. We use it in all our web based projects.
  • We like the variety of components provided
  • Most of the time the components work as expected
  • Up to this point, the help system, the support system and the periodic releases/bug-fixes have been sufficient to take care of the problems we've faced
  • The help system needs a bit of a revamp. Some of the content there no longer applies to current versions.
  • I found it particularly well suited for data display, be it in grids or charts
  • Due to the kind of projects on which I work, I haven't really found a scenario where Kendo UI is less appropriate
  • We can roll out functionality faster
  • Our end users seem happy with the kind of UIs that we give them
Sencha is too expensive for us. Additionally, we'd used Sencha touch earlier and didn't quite like it
3
They are all developers
The 3 of us who use Kendo UI manage to use it ourselves without the need for in-house support. We're a small organisation.
  • We use it for rapid prototyping to obtain approval from our contact in the parent organisation
  • It is used in demos (that may be modified on the fly) for presentations to the board of the parent organisation
  • It's used in the final product that we deliver to customers
  • Modifying code to change the look and feel while demoing our solution
  • We might use it directly in end-user customers demos, or when making sales pitches to prospective customers (as in: this is what we can do for you)
We're definitely renewing all 3 licenses this December
Our Dev team likes using the product and has become much more productive
Yes
We were using Java based solutions for our web based projects
We decided to shift to the MS domain and after seeing the alternatives we opted for Kendo
Frankly, we were fed-up with the open source side of things. We were spending too much time trying to get the products we were using to suit what we were doing

Price & product features.
It was a combination of both of these. We couldn't spend too much and we thought we were getting a great set of features for the price we were going to pay
No, we wouldn't change it. We've been entirely satisfied in the 4 years we've been using Kendo UI. The evaluation and selection pocess that we used produced a winner in this case, so why would we change it?
  • Implemented in-house
No
Change management was minimal
You need to thoroughly study the product you're going with before changing over. Then only shift to it, your downtime will be minimal
  • None. We made a clean break from our old projects. All new projects were to be implemented using Kendo UI. We were helped by the fact that most of our older projects were nearing their end of support date and the few that weren't were being transition to a newer avatar using Kendo UI
Forget about the old way of doing things
Study the product (in this case Kendo UI) thoroughly and only then start with implementation
  • Self-taught

I'd have given it a 10. But I decided to deduct 2 points because the older documentation sometimes tend to lead you down the wrong path
No
There has never really been a time when I'd say they've provided us with exception support
But over the last 4 years, they've answered our queries in a timely fashion or provided links to resource material we could use to resolve our issues. I'd say that come pretty close to exceptionl
  • Data display
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Modifying code on the fly

Yes
Perfectly, we don't even think about it. Mobile support is built into the framework and works perfectly most of the time
Because I'm satisfied with how it has performed over the last 4 years
Never faced a problem even when we threw a large amount of data at it
Because we've never faced any issue
