What is KnowBe4 PhishER?
PhishER is a platform for managing the high volume of potentially malicious email messages reported by users. With automatic prioritization of emails, PhishER aims to help InfoSec and Security Operations team cut through the inbox noise and respond to the most dangerous threats more quickly.
PhishER is a web-based platform with critical worksteam functionality that serves as a phishing emergency room to identify and respond to user-reported messages. With PhishER, users are able to automate the workstream of 90% of reported emails that are not threats, freeing up incident response resources.
PhishER is available as a stand-alone product or as an optional add-on for KnowBe4 customers that want to automatically prioritize and manage potentially malicious messages that were reported through the KnowBe4 Phish Alert Button. PhishER Plus is an upgraded subscription level that includes all of the features from PhishER with additional enhancements and AI-validated crowdsourced data. PhishER Plus was developed to help supercharge an organization’s email security defenses. It does this by automatically blocking phishing attacks that traditional Security Email Gateways (SEGs) miss and removes these missed threats from users’ inboxes.

KnowBe4 PhishER requires less hands-on involvement from our small (but mighty) IT team. Threats are alleviated quickly without our team having to drop something important that they are working on to respond to a phishing email.

Quite honestly, KnowBe4 PhishER was used at my last company, with great success, so when I joined this new company... it was an easy decision to bring it in and online.
KnowBe4 PhishER is our first "go to" when we have a new security need to fill due to its overall effectiveness, ease of use, and cost it has had in our organization.

Phishing Hero!
KnowBe4 PhishER has a lot of features that other companied does not have. Its AI capability, integration with VirusTotal, PhishRIP and PhishFlip features make it totally different from other solutions. Its Phish Alert Button directly installed on users Outlook without affecting them and the reporting technique is very simple, just clicking on the Phish Alert Button and the email will be directly reported to the KnowBe4 PhishER dashboard. KnowBe4 PhishER dashboard is a very good example of centralized dashboard where you can find all things related to that reported email.
PhishER in our organisation works as a second line of defense along side VIPRE and Microsoft Exchange Security. We use all 3 systems together to ensure emails are blocked or identified as spam or threats. VIPRE blocks emails before they reach the user, PhishER allows the user or PhishML/PhishRIP to block emails that reach the user, but are suspicious or detected as threats. Microsoft Exchange then allows us to monitor emails that have previously come in.
Compared to Fortinet FortiGate, KnowBe4 PhishER stands out primarily for its user-focused phishing simulation and training capabilities. While FortiGate excels in network security and firewall protection, PhishER’s strength lies in its specialized focus on email threats and user education. We selected PhishER for its comprehensive approach to phishing awareness, which is key in our strategy to empower employees as the first line of defense against email-based cyber threats.

Microsoft is more comprehensive but still allows some threats to get through. PhishER helps to weed out those that Defender does not block.

I was not involved in selecting KnowB4 as our phishing solution I am not aware if we considered any other options. I know Microsoft Defender has it's own simulated phishing system but I have not researched it or used it much nor am I interested in doing that. KnowB4 Customer Success & Support is excellent. My experience with Microsoft Support has been the complete opposite so I am not interested in using them more than I have to.

KnowBe4 PhishER - Rapid and efficiency phishing response
We selected KnowBe4 PhishER due to its cost efficiency and integration with our existing KnowBe4 platform. These integrations we felt were very advantageous to our on-going security training program. Additionally, we felt that the cost efficiency was very much worth it considering the time saved and the security benefits in our environment.
We were comparing the two and KnowBe4 PhishER won out on both ease of implementation and price.

PhishER, will probably save your Admin time.
You pretty much need the KnowBe4 Security Awareness package for PhishER to be useful. Hands down the Security Awareness package and where it has moved up with Training and testing users is fantastic. PhishER is a great additional tool for the Admin to help to manage the reported emails.

Catch Fake Emails with PhishER!
- Arctic Wolf Managed Detection and Response, BlackBerry Optics (CylanceOPTICS), BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT) and KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training
We chose KnowBe4 based on the variety phish testing templates, variety of training, and ease of use for us as administrators. Plus they present things in a way that a non-technical person can understand when they are taking a training module. The integration with PhishER is a massive bonus as well.

PhishER is wonderful
- Proofpoint Insider Threat Management
The dashboard is user-friendly. Clears up email space in my inbox when staff can report it with the PAB. The virus total scan is fairly accurate. I have compared this with other products, and PhishER overall is much easier to use. The Sales team worked with us to get a fair price and they weren't pushy at all.

Great for streamlining phishing response.
I have previously used Infosec IQ and Mimecast for similar purposes. Infosec IQ allowed my users to report messages, but the interface was clumsy and there weren't any features to allow me to quarantine or block message from within that dashboard. Mimecast was similar, but the granularity of the controls was overwhelming for new staff.
