Kofax Power PDF is used by the paralegal department. I mainly use it to combine or uncombine PDF documents. It is also very useful for Bates stamping exhibits.
  • Combining documents: Very easy and seamless process.
  • Extracting single/multiple pages: Easy to tear apart one large document into several smaller ones.
  • Bates Stamping: Easy to add custom Bates stamps.
  • Can sometimes be difficult locating correct tool.
It is well suited for combining legal exhibits into one document for Bates stamping before a trial.

The software is simple to use. I am able to find shortcuts and features without stressing or spending a lot of time looking. We have multiple documents per customer and the feature that we use a lot is the merge. We combine multiple documents into one file. This makes it easier for our drivers as well as saves time delivering as they do not have to open multiple files to retrieve information.
  • Combines documents
  • Easy to apply signatures
  • I would like to see the esignature support other companies other than docusign.
  • I would like to be able to drag a file to merge instead of "opening".
First, I enjoy not having to pay a monthly fee for the software. It was hard to work when I had to have internet for subscriptions to be confirmed. I do not have to have the internet to work (if the internet is not available). My relationship with that company did not last long. The ease of using this program is night and day from other competitors. I will not go back to the previous company.

We are constantly creating, combining, editing, and sharing PDFs with our clients and partners. Kofax/Nuance makes the process simple and easy. We rely heavily on the page number, bookmark, and OCR features. We also like to use Kofax/Nuance to create customized, pre-populated forms and documents for our clients, which makes life simple for everyone, especially HR Managers.
  • Print / Create / Merge Documents into PDF.
  • OCR - Converting Scans to Text.
  • Track Changes.
  • The software is becoming aesthetically dated.
  • Speed loading time (Make it easy to disable background processes that I never really use).
  • Work out any existing bugs/glitches.
Kofax/Nuance Power PDF is robust and fully capable of meeting the needs of our small-to-mid-size business. Kofax/Nuance has allowed us to do everything we could do on Adobe software, but for a much more competitive price. Not only does Kofax/Nuance make it easy to create and share PDFs, but it can also convert all sorts of other files to PDF. The best part is you can share your work without someone having all of the metadata included in original file types, such as Word Docs or Photo jpg.

Power PDF allows me to merge multiple documents to create pdf documents. Also, sign documents, and add comments. I chose Power PDF because it incorporates just about everything I need to do all in one product.
  • signing documents
  • creating pdf from multiple files
  • adding additional comments
  • a little clearer help menu
I have always used Nuance/Kofax. Once you use it a couple of times, it's really easy to do the necessary tasks, ie - signing documents, combining multiple files into one pdf. I had used Nuance for years, which I thought was pretty good, but when I upgraded to Kofax it made things so much easier. I have colleagues that use other products who are constantly calling and asking me how to perform tasks in their pdf program. I always recommend that they switch over to Kofax.

I used Kofax Power PDF to scan in and save my work papers for bookkeeping, payroll, and income tax returns that I prepared. This product by being a one-time purchase was the solution to avoid a monthly fee forever to use Adobe PDF products.
  • Easily combine multiple pages into one pdf file
  • Insert or Extract pages from an already combined pdf file
  • Using the typewriter feature, it is easy to make notes anywhere on a page of a PDF document
  • Sometimes the software will lose network connection which can only be reconnected by a restart of the computer.
  • It would be nice to be able to change the typewriter settings before beginning to type unless I have overlooked something, you set the default, and then if you want to change that for one time, you can't do it until you click on the page and start to type.
The software is well suited for anything that one might use Adobe Acrobat for. Scan, copy, combine. I used the software many times as a copy machine by using the scan to copy feature. I never had any situations where the software would not do what I needed. I am sure there might be some instances, but in my experience, it always came through for me.

As an expert on electronic health records (EHRs) in legal matters involving medical malpractice, I regularly receive large PDFs (1000's of pages) containing images of text-based medical records. I first make each PDF "searchable" which allows me to look for specific keywords in the document. This saves me an incredible amount of time since I am often asked about specific items from these large records. Without the "make searchable" feature, I would be required to try and skim through 1000's of pages looking for a specific event, which has proved to be less than effective! Another feature that is useful to me is the ability to "cut and paste" from the PDF into a word document which greatly facilitates my note-taking.
  • Makes PDFs containing images of text, searchable.
  • Allows cut and paste from the PDF into a word document.
  • Allows highlighting of key findings within the PDF.
  • Sometimes the edit feature segments the PDF document in ways that make cutting and pasting a multi-step process since the entire section cannot be selected at once.
  • Making a large document searchable can take 20-30 minutes. It would be great if this was a faster process.
The make searchable feature is incredibly useful as is the ability to cut and paste information from a PDF to a word document.

We use Kofax Power PDF to edit and assemble documents, maps, and other exhibits for reports and presentations, as well as assembling sets of construction documents to post on the web for contractors to download and use to bid projects. Specific functional uses include combining existing PDF files into one file and creating new PDF files from other formats.
  • Combining multiple files into one PDF is simple.
  • Editing (notation) of PDF files is fairly easy and straightforward.
  • The ability to add, remove and replace pages in a document is easy & works well.
  • Tech support for the ongoing issue I have reported has not been helpful.
  • Several users reported that if a file is left open but inactive for 15-20 minutes the pages go blank. This happens with files of all sizes. Tech support has been unable to find a solution and basically said sorry, we can't figure it out, you're on your own.
Editing capabilities are fine, but having files go blank in the middle of an editing session is not helpful.

  • Combine files
  • Annotating pdfs
  • Pen input
  • Batch conversions
Since I use it at all times I don't know of any situations where it is less appropriate.

I use it for myself to compile purchase orders to send to manufacturers.
  • Easily create a PDF with multiple pages.
  • Easily save your PDF to any file format.
  • Integrates with your browser to open files and with Office products.
I just recently used it to create a 10-page PDF of a fall 2021 clothing order to a manufacturer and it worked perfectly. The manufacturer said it opened easily and the view was clear. No distortion.

Great tool for preparing and editing PDF files for internal and external use. Good value and east to use within the organisation and happy to recommend it to clients and friends. We also use the feature to reduce the size of scanned PDFs that are often large files that are not suitable for emailing.
  • Combine documents
  • Add notes to PDF documents
  • Compresses PDF files to reduce storage required and easier emailing
  • Nothing in particular
Easy to use and integrate with the office solutions Kofax Power PDF is great for combining PDFs and adding comments or form completion. Where we get paper forms we often scan them and then use the forms function to create a PDF form to complete. Easy to use for the team.

We use it across the company. It is a great help in comparing contract document revisions and saving time as well the editing capabilities are amazing. You can even edit PDF files converted from Cad. These were the main reasons why we pulled the trigger and started using Kofax [Power PDF].
  • Document comparison.
  • Editing pdf files converted from CAD.
  • Measuring dimensions and distances on scaled drawings.
  • Adding or editing text - Switching on off from editing mode needs improvement.
  • Menus shall be more detailed on helping the individual functions.
Very useful on Comparing revisions of documents, editing CAD drawings. The compare function saves tons of time and gives your productivity back to you. I never thought a PSF editor could change CAD drawings but this does and saves you from another time taking process!!

We use this program as our primary PDF reader and continue to add as we bring on more new hires. Our teams enjoy the ease of importing PDFs into one document and making adjustments as needed. This helps address multiple clicks on other programs to get the same result this program can do with fewer clicks.
  • Conversions to Microsoft products.
  • Quick for adding in signatures as needed.
  • Quick editing features.
  • Making the load up of the program quicker.
  • An easier way to create signatures. Creating a slower mouse when doing the signature.
  • Clarifying signature options.
This would be good in all settings. For our company, it is exactly what we need for a majority of our employees, and for some, it is overkill as they will not use any of the features. If working with contracts and merging multiple documents, this is great. If for a pdf reader only, I am sure there are other free options out there.

We utilize Kofax Power PDF across the entire organization. We use both Power PDF Standard and Power PDF Advance versions depending on the users' requirements. We have been using the software for almost ten years, initially at the corporate level but for a few years, we have used it in all of our divisions and work locations.
  • Conversion of PDF documents to other formats (Word, Excel, etc.). This is extremely helpful as we need to edit existing documents that we may not have access to the original file.
  • Merging of PDF documents from multiple sources into one document. This utility is used often at our company, especially in our Business Development department when compiling bid documents. In many cases, we have documents that are produced by various users using different file formats and these documents need to be merged into one document per the specifications of the bid.
  • Redacting important documents. Our company has many government contracts including federal, state, and local agencies, which includes government buildings and courthouses, military installations, law enforcement locales, transportation systems, etc. In many cases, we need to produce reports that require some of the data to be redacted.
  • We would like a better tutorial on the features, sometimes we need to click around to find what we are looking for.
Our company initially looked into using Nuance Power PDF as a less expensive alternative to Adobe Acrobat, and was only installed for users who did not have an overwhelming need for a PDF editor. However, after being told on more than one occasion, that Power PDF was much more user-friendly than Adobe Acrobat. We also learned that users preferred the layout of the Power PDF as well as the functionality of the software. For these reasons, the Power PDF from Kofax is the only PDF editor that we purchase and install on our machines.

Initially, we had a frequent need to edit PDF pieces given to us by suppliers so that they could be passed on to our clients. Power PDF filled the bill, and for a fraction of the cost of other options. As time went on, we discovered that we could easily reformat documents rather than create different versions from scratch... a huge time saver! We could easily customize documents for clients, automatically number pages (with a variety of options to choose from), eliminate (or add) blank pages to a document, drop in signatures and dates, and more. There was a fairly steep learning curve at first, but the newer versions have addressed that so that users of MS Office will catch on pretty quickly. I bought Power PDF for me to use for one specific recurring need, but it's become something that I use several times a week for many different reasons. I've taught others in the company to use it as well, and just today I did a demo for someone from another company in need of this type of software - and I think she's sold! PDF documents are now as easy to edit like any other document.
  • Merges multiple documents (even if different types) into one PDF document.
  • Allows editing and formatting of PDF documents created by others.
  • Easily and neatly complete forms without printing them out and doing by hand.
  • Sometimes editing text/objects isn't as straightforward as I'd like. For instance, the need to right-click to get to formatting options rather than getting an automatic menu when text or object is selected.
  • Some tools aren't where I expect them to be, so I have to waste time hunting them down.
  • I recently spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to pull an image in as a new stamp.
  • Would love to see a dedicated space for storing scanned signatures.
If you frequently find yourself dropping in text boxes to complete a form, you need Power PDF. If you often merge documents of several types into one, you need Power PDF. If you often wish you had a way to edit a PDF you didn't create, you need Power PDF.

Kofax Power PDF formerly Nuance is used for all our PDF creation and editing. We have been using it for many years, and is now more important than ever, as we are sending out invoices and other documents electronically, and also have the need to combine documents, re-arrange pages and do some other edits. Kofax Power PDF makes it sooooo easy.
  • Creates PDF documents from other software, and reads all PDF's.
  • Easily edit text and other objects in PDF documents.
  • Re-arranged pages and resizes and rotates pages to make great documentation booklets.
  • More graphics capabilities - simple picture editing.
  • Better viewer in Outlook email.
Well suited for anyone who has a need to read, create, modify, or enhance PDF documents; seems like most people. Not sure where it would be less appropriate unless you do not use PDFs.

I am the only one using it, mostly the forms feature, but also the OCR feature is very useful. I find it a little challenging to edit, say, one line of text, but that's not a big deal.
  • Forms.
  • Text box.
  • The forms sometimes do more than one line, and I have to delete it and add the lines manually. For example if an address is on 4 lines, it does one box for the 4 lines and they don't line up properly.
  • I can't figure out how to edit, say, one line of text.
  • Based on how I use it, those two are the only problems I have.
I do a lot of subscription agreements and other "stuff" where the forms feature is very helpful. However, it sometimes doesn't work properly. Based on my usage, I don't have any problem with the software.

I use it for converting legal documents and electronic discovery into PDFs. A key component is the ability to create bates numbers across multiple documents. It does everything Adobe Acrobat Pro DC does for a fraction of the cost. I also utilize the program to create form templates for work, and for my notary public practice. I am very pleased with the return on investment.
  • Creating and adding Bates numbers to discovery documents.
  • Creating fill-in-the-blank form templates for colleagues to use.
  • Converting other document formats into PDFs.
  • Redacting sensitive documents for document productions.
  • It takes a long time to load up.
  • Make adding text boxes easier to PDF documents.
It is well suited for creating document templates for users to fill in the blanks as opposed to filling in the blanks via handwriting. Secondly, it is a lot less expensive to create Bates numbered document in litigation where you have voluminous document production. The ability to customize the Bates number is a real plus for document association and tracking purposes.

We use Kofax on a daily basis in our company to edit PDFs received from other vendors that need to be customized prior to sending to our clients.
  • Edit existing PDFs.
  • Combining files into a single PDF.
  • Mark up and making detailed notes on architectural plans.
  • Signing documents with electronic signature.
  • More specific fields of edit when in converted mode (instead of program highlighting all fields).
  • Better and more robust editing when in editable mode. We find many times Kofax really limits editing to specific places or won't cooperate when you have a block of text highlighted.
  • Better and more varied commenting capabilities.
  • Ability to scale an architectural drawing (not sure if this is currently possible).
  • Ability to SET and save default size when a PDF opens.
  • Kofax rocks and does a fantastic job with quick edits (Specific "edit object" work).
  • It is wonderful for combining and customizing how pages are combined and compiled in a PDF.
  • It does a good job with notating PDFs.
  • It does a good job with signing documents electronically.
  • At times it is difficult to work with when you are editing a complex document and need many fields to change.
  • It seems to lack settings for customizing appearance, like how large you want a PDF to open as a default.

We use Kofax for all PDF-related tasks. This includes reading, Bates labeling, security protocols, editing, combining, comparing, watermarking, etc. OCR is used on every document.
  • Bates labeling.
  • Apply security and signatures.
  • Watermarks.
  • Comparing documents.
  • Some of the ribbon options are hard to find.
  • PDF create is a bit cumbersome to organize.
We use Kofax all day every day. I am very pleased with the product esp. given its value vs. Adobe.

Used daily as PDF reader and editor.
Users typically open all PDFs with Power PDF just for reading. Users frequently need to extract parts of PDFs, export to other programs (mostly MS Office) or erase/redact information.
Rarely do users use Power PDF to create documents from scratch. They prefer MS Office apps for creation. Power PDF is usually a PDF reader or their tool to manipulate an existing PDF.
  • Open PDF for reading.
  • Extracting pages or sections of existing PDF.
  • Converting PDFs to other formats.
  • Erasing details or redacting sections of PDFs before distribution.
  • The UI is poor.
  • Users prefer other solutions that they find easier to learn.
  • Users want a UI that is more compatible with MS Office apps.
  • Conversions to other formats don't often product good results..
  • Find a better way to manage licenses. And I do NOT mean a subscription model.
  • Please drop the "Kofax". It's just Power PDF. No one cares about who/what Kofax is.
Users who are under a tight budget usually select Power PDF.
If they have basic PDF editing needs the feel the tools in Power PDF are adequate and are satisfied.
I'm glad that I have a few options to offer users that I manage and Power PDF is one of a few that are good solutions. It is usually the budget choice.
And, usually people ask, "What's Kofax? Drop it. No one knows or cares what Kofax is. The only Kofax I want to know about is a baseball player from the '60s. (and yes, he spells it differently)."

Kofax Power PDF is currently being used across the entire company. We did not want to pay for the yearly licensing costs of Adobe Acrobat and as a result have discovered Kofax to be a reliable alternative. Presently the Advanced version is being used by lawyers who need to redact parts of documents. The standard version is being used by everyone else.
  • PDF to Word conversion.
  • Redactions.
  • Email archiving to PDF.
  • Web integrations.
  • Corporate sales support.
Kofax Power PDF is a great alternative to Adobe Acrobat. Especially for those who do not wish to pay $700 per year for the latest piece of software. However, Kofax presently lacks the web browser integration features for printing and saving from within our environment.

We are using Kofax Power PDF for converting documents to and from PDF format with other formats. This is a great assistance in a legal practice that uses various forms of documents. I previously used the Nuance version and this Kofax version is even better. Very happy with it & would recommend it to others.
  • Converting documents from PDF to other formats.
  • Number stamping documents (formerly Bates).
  • Combining documents into one PDF file.
  • The number stamping feature could be explained a little better but I figured it out.
  • Better user manual with examples.
  • Ordering documents with better control when number stamping.
Very well suited to converting documents and number stamping. I have seen no area yet where Adobe Acrobat is better. I have not yet had to ask others to work in Acrobat on a feature I could not find and use on Kofax. And Kofax is more affordable.
