I use Kofax to edit and combine PDFs. I often need to take multiple documents that have been Docusigned to combine into a large file for the client. I'm able to combine files, rearrange the order, delete unneeded pages, highlight sections for the client, redact information if needed, etc. It makes my job so much easier and faster.
  • Combining documents easily
  • redacting portions of documents
  • deleting/arranging order of pages, and altering the images in documents easily
  • Adding text fields
  • Searching the PDF forms
  • instruction/marketing on signatures, and expanding that capability. I use DocuSign now since I'm used to it, but I'd love to switch if it made sense
In my past role, I had to create and edit policy and documents for employees. Those policies and documents needed to be changed, added to, and deleted from often. Kofax enabled me to take PDF files and convert to word docs to edit, combine files, insert other PDFs, etc. It makes putting documents together so much easier.

Being able to convert a PDF to a word doc to edit has been so valuable since I've needed to make edits and changes. I'll receive PDFs from clients and they ask to make changes to them. Kofax helps me to do that quickly without needing to ask for the word doc version.

I also use DocuSign a lot and need to combine signed documents into one packet. Kofax helps with that.

Kofax Power PDF is used most days in completing PDF forms for onward transmission. The typewriter feature is very powerful and versatile in the choice of font, color, and size. The ability to highlight areas is helpful in marking up documents. Using the Edit Item has proven to be efficient in being able to modify drawings sent to us as examples of what amendments are needed. Being able to insert PDF documents into a Word document provides an efficient and timesaving element of the program. Reducing the size of large ODF files before emailing.
  • Provide a powerful typewriter feature in a PDF. Insert PDF into a Word document. Reduce the size of large PDF files.
  • It cannot change the size of a document from say A3 to A4 Sometimes the file size is expanded rather than reduced It is difficult to insert PNG or JPG files easily.

1. Scanning documents as PDF files 2. Combining PDF files 3. Converting PDF files to MS Word 4. Form creation and filling in
  • Scanning, especially manual two-sided scanning.
  • Converting PDF to MS Word.
  • Form Filling.
  • I cannot think of three things that Kofax can do better, but there is one feature I would like to see added. Iris San has a feature called descewing. When you scan documents, it rarely scans perfectly horizontally which makes form filling difficult. Descewing straightens out the scanned document.

I work with small batches of a variety of documents for different end uses, so I benefit most from using Kofax Power PDF for scanning, processing, converting to text, and optimizing for efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Multiple levels of utility make it versatile: Sometimes, a quick scan and save is all that's needed, and sometimes, it's necessary to dig deep into various options to get exactly the right output. Kofax Power PDF gives me choices.
  • The wide range of operations possible within this single program means not having to switch to Photoshop or some other app and then back to Kofax Power PDF.
  • User-friendly toolbars and menus with logical groupings made Kofax Power PDF easy to comprehend as a new user, and the Help guides are truly helpful.
  • I find that quickly editing text within a document or adding a line of text is clunky and can snowball into things popping out of place. I prefer to export text, and then work on it elsewhere.
  • Sometimes it seems that text recognition is trying too hard and throws me paper punches as "O"s and wrinkles as shapes, so I have to get rid of those artifacts.
  • The "Update Available" popup which is usually not an actual update announcement but rather an offer to sell me something is annoying.

I am the only person in my organization who uses Kofax Power PDF. I mostly use the create/convert assistant feature to create larger documents from individual PDFs. At times, I use the editing feature on Kofax Power PDF to individualize and number student documents using the Bates numbering feature. Before I moved to this job, I worked at a law firm and there we took advantage of all the features- from editing, numbering, creating, converting, etc. It was at that job that I found out about this tool and when I moved jobs I asked my new employer to provide the program for me.
  • Bates Numbering
  • Searching in the document/ making documents searchable
  • Watermarking
  • Adding signatures and time stamps
  • It loads really slowly
I think anyone who manages papers and documents will greatly benefit from Kofax Power PDF. It helps you manipulate documents really well and make close to any changes, edits, or commands you can think of. After exploring the program, at least personally, I found that Kofax Power PDF did tons of things that I didn't even know it could.

It started out as an experiment for one operator in the accounting department. Soon, everyone else in accounting requested that it be installed on their computer also. Once someone in purchasing saw what it could do and how easy it was to use, everyone in purchasing wanted it too. It has been our go to PDF editor ever since.
  • Edit PDFs
  • eSignatures and Security
  • Converting from other file types.
Integration with our ERP software.

This product is very user friendly and has so many great features that help both in my marketing department and my administrative side as well. This is a reliable product and their customer service is the absolute best. I have had no issue that has not been able to either self solved or worked out with they customer service.
  • Creating fillable forms
  • High Quality Output of Documents
  • Saving as High Res Images
  • Lag
  • Price
In my experience, it is great for documents and getting digital signatures. Also great for saving forms as pictures. Not so great at creating marketing materials from scratch.

I love the ease of use, being able to move pages around, rotate and resize. My biggest issue is when taking a document to save as pdf, by system seems to take a very long time to select it. I have tried this with Adobe pdf and have not issues, it is only with Power Pdf.
  • Editing existing text or adding new text
  • Moving pages around
  • Combining alot of pdfs into one
  • connection with printing to power pdf faster
Works very well with editing text within a pdf document.

We used Kofax Power PDF as our default pdf reader and editor in an in-house litigation department that transitioned from conventional file organization to a fully paperless environment.
  • Easy to use, even for users who had little to no experience with pdf editing.
  • Reliable
  • Robust - able to do all we needed and more!
  • Bates numbering could be made simpler to learn
I think it is very well suited to document review and production. Security and redaction tools are intuitive. General editing features are similarly user-friendly. Commenting, highlighting, and mark-up worked well for field users so they could use documents without printing to paper.

It's what I use on my personal devices to convert documents into pdf and transfer to my work account. It's been user friendly so far and I haven't experienced any issues using it that way.
  • Converts the document into a machine readable document
  • Electronically sign a document
  • Readable within any pdf program
At home, when using my personal desktop or laptop, converting documents into a readable pdf and signing in order for use at work. It's been user friendly the past 6-7 years and I'd hope that it would continue to remain user friendly.

I use Power PDF to edit / create / export to and from PDF. It allows me to manipulate and create pdf documents as required with a great deal of versatility
  • Add or edit text in PDF documents
  • Once created, the text box within a pdf document can be a bit unwieldy to manage and change when necessary
I like the fact that I was able to purchase up front rather than pay a monthly fee for subscribing. My demands are relatively basic so I don't need an expensive subscription product.

We love Kofax Power PDF. It has been our go-to program for saving, printing, annotating and revising PDFs for many years. It is flexible and easy to use. I love the “typewriter” and “highlight” functions which allow me to communicate information beyond the text of the pdf with my staff and clients.
  • Assembling multiple PDFs into a single PDF
  • Focusing attention on important parts of a document using highlights, typing and note boxes
  • Converting PDFs to Word documents and spreadsheets
  • Better “help” functions
I am a solo attorney with several part time staff. Kofax Power PDF is easy to implement among staff, easy to teach and easy to learn. Highly recommended, It is affordable, especially compared with the Adobe products. It is versatile, and has functions useful to trial attorneys, such as Bates numbering, and headers and footers which include the ability to number pages.

I open PDF files for reading, editing, creating and/or printing. I use it to also join existing files into one.
  • Editing PDF files is fairly easy, it recognizes the existing fonts, and uses the same font for editing.
  • Joining PDF files can be accomplished very easily, and once in, can be rearranged in any order.
  • Kofax Power PDF interfaces with PDF files almost as well as Adobe Acrobat.
  • I have not experienced any difficulties using Kofax Power PDF
  • There is a complaint I might make and that is that in each time I start Kofax Power PDF, it loads in a brand-new instance. In other words, it does not reside in memory as other programs do and it's a bit slower to get up and running. This is not a major issue.
  • Also, Kofax Power PDF does not save files in photo formats such as JPEG or PNG, etc.
I have not found an instance where Kofax Power PDF was less appropriate than Adobe Acrobat other than the saving of files in certain formats as mentioned earlier. It took me about 10 minutes to learn how to use the program, and since have not had any issues. One function I really like is I can have any number of files open and they are all listed in a dropdown menu which makes it easy to find the file I'm needing to use.

Practically everything our law firm does requires online filing of legal documents via e-file. Kofax Power PDF makes this process straightforward and easy for us. We use Kofax Power PDF every single day to manage scans, convert Word docs to PDF, convert images to PDF for inclusion in filings, and to redact filings.
  • Rearranging/deleting/inserting pages in PDFs
  • Converting multiple files into one PDF
  • Annotating other PDFs or images
  • Redacting documents
  • Text box management
  • More encryption options
  • Better options for compressing filesizes on large PDFs
We routinely prepare lawsuit filings that will consist of a lead document, written in Word, and followed by exhibits, often many, many pages of exhibits. Kofax Power PDF makes it easy for us to go from drafting in Word, to converting the Word doc to PDF, to then dragging and dropping other PDFs, Word docs, or images directly into the target PDF and rearranging those pages. I think it is less suited, overall, to long-form annotation, due to the limited scope of text-editing fields.

I use Kofax Power PDF to view, edit, convert and sign PDFs. I also use it to combine multiple documents into one easy to share document.
  • Converts PDFs to Word
  • Allows me to sign PDFs
  • Easy to combine multiple documents
  • Easy to edit text in PDF
  • I think the menu bar is at time not intuitive
  • I think it would be nice to have a draw function to sign instead of a multiple step process
It is my go to PDF viewer, editor and converter. Cannot go back to Adobe. It makes work with PDFs so much easier, faster and convenient for me.

Prior to founding my own law firm last year, I had practiced with many large to mid-size law firms and routinely used Adobe Acrobat for PDF needs. I opted instead to purchase Kofax Power PDF for use in my practice and have not regretted my decision at all. It works very well and I am able to use it for a variety of purposes and has easy functionality for editing, redaction, conversion of documents from other formats and most everything a solo practitioner needs in 2023.
  • Conversion of documents from Word
  • Customizing through editing text in PDF itself
  • Redaction
  • Ability to move objects from one page to another
  • Ease of changing from one tool to another
In my experience, Kofax Power PDF is very well suited for customizing and editing invoices or statements for services in connection with document and law firm management platforms such as Clio. It is very easy to edit text to personalize and customize the way your invoices to clients will look and how you describe categories of charges.

We use Kofax for the creation, editing, and management of pdf documents. It is the main PDF software for our company. We also use it for document security and redaction. On a day to day basis we use it for printing to pdf and rotating pdf documents that have been saved in the wrong orientation, highlighting text, adding comments to documents, combining and splitting pdfs. in fact we haven't got round to all the functionality it has.
  • converting microsoft files to pdf
  • adjusting file orientation
  • redaction
  • print to pdf
  • combining and splitting files
  • Speed sometimes its a little slow when a document is first loaded before you can select anything
  • make it even more user friendly to access new features using tips perhaps
  • in the list of printers Kofax power pdf should be called kofax power pdf not just power pdf it gets missed by staff
Kofax is well suited to the small to medium size business who doesn't want to pay high fees or endless subscription charges as they grow.

I use this software every hour of the day. Very rarely am I opening another software as often
  • Easy to move around, separating, deleting, adding.
  • 2 complaints only: 1. Unable to break through secured pdf. They need modifying however I can only print, scan, then modify. Which brings me to the second issue. I have to use your competitor PDFfiller, to Erase, add Text, Add Circles, Check marks, Images, lines etc. They are very user friendly unfortunately now I have to buy two softwares. One is on line, one is on my computer. Some how if you can add these wonderful features I would be extremly happy. Oh there is a 3rd Issue. I have three computers, Work, Desktop and laptop. I don't like having to purchase three single softwares. Come up with package deals.

We need to regularly check PDF layouts or proofread PDFs for our customers and were looking for a cheap alternative that offered features similar to Acrobat reader. Our clients did not complain about any issues so far.
  • - Easy file conversion of multiple formats to one or several PDFs via conversion tool - Easy editing/annotation of PDFs - Good and Easy redact/blacken out tool
  • - Language implementation: we get regular messages at startup that Austrian German locale has some issues, just because our PCs are based in Austria an run with Austrian settings but we installed German version. - some fonts appear black although they are not black but another colour overlay - settings (maximized window) do not correctly get saved
  • regex search would be fine
  • extract text found via (regex) search to file.

Kofax Power PDF is the only PDF reader/writer that I use. It combines a number of features that I use on a regular basis that competing products don't offer or deploy as well, including digital signatures, document security (this is a big item in legal documents), and integration with other products that I use such as MS Office. Using Kofax Power PDF solves a number of problems for me in terms of combining documents, creating documents and watermarking documents, and general document management tasks. I've tested a number of other products (e.g., Adobe) and found the features in Kofax Power PDF to be superior and more cost-efficient.
  • Water-marking
  • Digital Signature Handling
  • Document Management such as combining documents
  • Document Conversion
  • The Help Feature and User Manual
  • Creating Forms
  • Scanner Integration
For me, it is appropriate in situations where a document must be shared among multiple parties and there are multiple editors and commenting parties. The features of the program make it easy to add text, comments and/or redact text. It's security features make it useful in working with client documents and assisting corporate clients with creation of agreements and other types of legal documents. I can't actually think of a situation where it would not be appropriate but I haven't really tried using it to convert spreadsheets to PDF format so that may be one.

We use it as an alternative to having to use Adobe Acrobat Pro and thus be obligated to pay yearly license renewal fees!
  • Provide a streamlined method to work with and simultaneously archive pdf documents
  • Allow one to convert pdf documents using multiple connectors to documents archives
  • Work with scanned documents
  • Provides a method t use batch files for future automation
  • The methods to locate ongoing fixes to the software are cumbersome
  • Security features are difficult for a non-expert IT professional to implement
I think it's very appropriate for a limited user group (or department) of IT professionals allowing the facility to avoid the cumbersome aspects of Adobe corporate licensing and obligation to pay yearly licensing fees In my opinion, probably less appropriate in situations where users are not too experienced in deciphering more intricate operating environments

I use it constantly to insert/delete pages, redact private information, page number, add signatures and stamps, and add letterhead to digital printing. In my experience, it does all of these things easily and in a way that is intuitive to the user. I've also used it extensively to make electronic 'binders', where several documents and an index are combined into one document that is bookmarked and hyperlinked. While this takes a little more knowledge and training, I love the functionality of this in our new reality of hybrid workspaces.
  • Forms
  • Redactions
  • Bates Numbering
  • Document revision
  • Compiling documents
  • Stamps could be a little more customizable
  • Complete functionality that Adobe has (especially when it comes to forms)
  • OCR function is difficult to use and not very smooth at times
I enjoy using Kofax Power PDF to create packages of documents. In my experience, it's easy to have a folder of all the documents needed separately, and then use Kofax Power PDF to compile them, with bookmarks and hyperlinks. Then if a change needs to be made it's easy to simply swap out one of the documents in the folder and recompile. I think Kofax Power PDF is less suited for working with forms that are specifically designed for Adobe. The forms that I have the most trouble with are ones that you fill in information, and then click a button to finalize the document with all of your blanks filled in.
