Great feature set, very secure with ugly and confusing UI

We use LastPass to share credentials securely with our coworkers. For example, if I want to share the WiFi password with a new coworker, I'll use LastPass.
  • Tracks usage and nudges your employees to switch onto LastPass if they haven't been using it (very useful for SOC-2 compliance).
  • Auto-fill works very smoothly and properly predicts the username and password field to fill in 99+% of the time.
  • Makes it easy and secure to share passwords with coworkers.
Cons
  • UI is not nearly as clean or beautiful as 1Password (which I use on my personal laptop).
  • Browser plugin semi-rarely crashes without warning or error message and stop opening until you restart browser.
  • Not as secure as 1Password. LastPass servers have been hacked more times (albeit without losing any secure information) than 1Password.
If we are talking bang for your buck, LP for business is really cheap (currently $3/user/month) and works well enough 98% of the time for your employees. I personally really dislike the UI/UX but once I got used to it I'm about to make it fit well into my workflow. However, there is a small concern here if your company signed a SOC-2, HIPAA or other security compliance agreement--if your employees hate or are really confused by the UI they are less likely to use it and this can cause your company to violate your security compliance agreements. So, basically, you may want to buy something more expensive and user friendly if you are responsible for making sure everyone at your company uses a password manager.

LastPass is being used in our organization by our IT Department. Also, we recommend it to our users for personal use during our annual IT security training. We use it in our department to store passwords for our different services and servers that have admin accounts that we need to log into and manage. It helps solve the problem of having to make simple passwords or use the same easy to remember one over and over again.
  • Stores passwords very well in their "vault."
  • Creates very complex passwords for you with some customization options like length, special characters, alphanumeric, etc.
  • Autofills forms very well and are very intuitive.
  • Sharing passwords across user profiles is incredibly convenient.
Cons
  • The mobile version sometimes doesn't work. It works most of the time, but I found it's not as dependable as the browser plugin.
  • The most recent update I don't like. The look and feel just doesn't feel right, in my opinion.
  • I also feel like they don't update enough. I change my master password regularly. I feel like they should FORCE you more often to do so.
There are other options out there that are more complicated to use. If you want your family members to use a security feature like this, then LastPass is the one to recommend. If you have friends who aren't very tech-savvy, this is as straightforward as it gets. Works well and is very easy to get used to. A professional scenario is the one we use it for. You can share passwords, and only the ones you want to share, across users. Say an employee leaves-- it's very easy to have LastPass create a very long, complicated new one for you, that you can then reshare.

I use LastPass regularly to manage many passwords. Obviously, my most sensitive passwords and company secrets etc., are not to be trusted to anyone other than myself, but LastPass definitely helps with the hassle of remembering passwords that I don’t use all the time (like logins for blogs, research websites, etc.). I pay for the premium service (the free version in the past did not have mobile support, although it may now - I am not sure).
  • Generating passwords
  • Storing passwords
  • Auto filling passwords on websites
  • iOS Touch ID
Cons
  • Auto fill can be a little buggy on some websites
  • 2FA would be a nice option
  • Tighter integration in iOS would be nice
I think lastpass is appropriate in just about any situation where management of passwords is helpful to a company or individual. Some of my colleagues tell me 1password has a nicer UI but I view LastPass as a little more geared toward the hard-core security-minded professional. I am willing to give up a shinier GUI for more attention on the engineering end.

A Must have!

LastPass is being used by all users across our organization. We use LastPass for really all its features starting with Saving usernames and passwords to sharing logins with other users. We really leverage the secure password generation feature so our users have strong passwords for accounts they make on other sites. LastPass's sharing feature is very nice to help users have access to team accounts and notes.
  • Username and password saving and auto-filling.
  • Chrome extension works super well.
  • Admin portal is very user-friendly.
Cons
  • Autoprovision of users through the SAML tools could be improved.
  • Reporting features aren't as intuitive as I'd like.
LastPass is well suited for any organization no matter the size (in my opinion). It has so many great features that make your employee's lives easier and more secure since LastPass can make secure passwords for you and remember them too! LastPass makes it super easy to save all your logins and even notes then use them very quickly through the extension search bar.

I work in marketing and save a ton of passwords. My team and I take advantage of the LastPass sharing feature quite a bit. I also love that you can log in to all your saved sites with one single click. The autofill feature does the rest. The secure notes feature is also super handy for storing things like important phone numbers.
  • I used to have a very exhaustive list of usernames and passwords hidden beneath my keyboard -- obviously not the most effective (or secure) way to save this info. The worst was when I forgot to update the sheet to the most recent password; you'd get denied three times; your account would lock and then you're on hold with customer service for ten minutes trying to get in. With LastPass, you never need to write down another password again. You can rest assured knowing all your login info you handily and safely stored and accessible whenever (yes, even on your phone/tablet!) you need it.
  • My team and I share a folder with important login info to multiple platforms. When one of us changes a password, we can easily update the record in our shared folder and be rest assured that we'll be able to access the platform seamlessly the next time we log in.
  • The autofill feature is a huge time saver, especially when you're managing dozens of platforms. I've never logged into my accounts faster.
Cons
  • Sometimes (and it's rare), my vault will list the password for my LastPass login as the password for each site in my vault. It's a bizarre and rare occurrence but can be remedied if I back out of the window and try again.
If you work on a team where you juggle multiple accounts, LastPass is the perfect solution for your login needs. Even as an individual, LastPass is a secure way to store all your important info, from work to personal life and everything in between. I can't recommend this product enough.
