Lifesize is currently being used by all of our departments. We maintain 3 room systems, one in each of our conference rooms. In addition to the physical system we use Lifesize Cloud to allow users to video conference from any device and anywhere. Lifesize has allowed us to reduce our regular travel costs and has improved communication between remote sites.
  • We believe Lifesize is a leader in the video codecs, always providing clear audio regardless of bandwidth.
  • At times we have audio issues with some of our room systems caused by an improper boot sequence of our systems. There is a quick fix, but it is annoying to have to do.
Lifesize is the best solution on the market. There is no need to fiddle with the system, it just works.

We used to use BlueJeans as our main video conferencing system throughout the organisation. However the cost made it difficult to go beyond the original 24 accounts that we had as well as the limit of 25 participants was sometimes problematic for us. We therefore tested several applications and decided at the time to use Lifesize Cloud instead. It was offering more options for a better price. Moving to Lifesize Cloud allowed every user in the organisation to have their own account (100), chat internally and book meetings for each other. But, we have hit a few snags. Lifesize has two main flaws:

  1. It is very hard to see who is in the meeting or who is talking. As a result one cannot mute any unique individual so if they are all not very careful to mute themselves, then it can become quite a cacophony. In other words, the moderator functions are very limited.
  2. Quality over a less than perfect line is very bad. When we tested, we tested over fairly good connections (100 MB, or 50 at home). The reality though is slightly different. Many are in hotels or in some remote areas and this is where the less than stellar speed is suddenly a problem. Lately, this part has improved but is still far from the competition. As a result, we are have now moved to Zoom.
  • When the net is good, then the quality is outstanding. Almost too good (if that exists).
  • Very clutter-free layout.
  • Quite a wide set of connection options.
  • Improved moderator functions (muting individuals, see in an easy way who is in, who is talking).
  • Being able to chat to guests as well. You see, when the guest does not know how to unmute themselves, it is good to have the option to chat to the user and tell them what to do.
  • Quality improvements over bad network.
It is very good for business where there is a good stable connection with a well set up network.

We have several locations spread throughout the state of Florida and we use the Lifesize Video Conferencing System as a way to bring everyone together for face-to-face meetings throughout the organization. The system is also used by our training department to educate staff located throughout our markets. The ability to connect a laptop to the system and share information company-wide has also shown to be a tremendous asset to us.
  • Clear audio and video during video conferencing meetings
  • The ability to connect and share computer desktops throughout the organization
  • Ease of use of the system, from setting up meeting rooms by an admin to ease of use for the end-user
  • Upon initial installation, we experienced consistent issues with audio when connecting to a television. The resolution involved changing the default audio output from HDMI to the base unit. I believe the default should be audio through the base unit, so as to eliminate any issues from the start.
  • A compact all-in-one system, to reduce cabling, would be beneficial. We have run into instances of vendors, who are unaware of the Lifesize system, come in and disconnect the cabling in order to connect their laptops for presentations. Color-coded or labeled cabling would help in reconnecting these cables to their proper ports. This is mostly an issue at locations where no local administrator is present.
[It's] well-suited for face-to-face meetings when offices are spread apart geographically.

The homes that our organization works with are recommended to use Lifesize. This program allows for the department to communicate with our homes in a more friendly and effective manner. Lifesize is suggested due to that it is very easy to install and use so there is little room for complications when trying to communicate with the homes.
  • Very easy to install and use.
  • Detailed picture resolution and vibrant colours.
  • Supports older video conferencing systems.
  • Connects to systems via IP address.
  • Support is a bit difficult to communicate with.
Lifesize is well suited for businesses and work usage when it comes to conferencing calls. It would be less appropriate to use this for personal use or casual use since there are other free video conferencing programs that are a bit lower quality. For something more professional and efficient would be Lifesize.

I consider Lifesize video conferencing one step short of the actual handshake meeting. Video and audio quality is of a high standard, superb if customers set it up the right way. Web presentation can be improved, but even then, I've seen so much improvement in the last year, I would be very surprised if Lifesize doesn't master that portion very soon.

Our staff doesn't travel as much which has significantly improved our savings. Instant meetings are a common thing nowadays, but simply listening to the callers seems to not be enough; people want to see each other. This is particularly important for the recruiters and interviewers.

  • All in one conferencing, in HD.
  • There are other products, but Lifesize doesn't just do the job, Lifesize does the job well.
  • Easy to set up, quick, efficient. Either we're talking about users, video conference units, virtual conference rooms, or accessing the same.
  • Diversity across platforms, PC, MAC, Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.
  • Users sign in using the same credentials.
  • Presentations can be better.
  • Integrations with MS Exhange (Calendars)
  • Lifesize remote and scrolling through the interface.
Midsize to large companies with offices and people spread across multiple regions would particularly find Lifesize as an instrumental tool for an efficient way of communication and also as a cost saver. Smaller companies with few offices would not really see Lifesize as useful, even though it can be.

We use it on a daily basis. Actually, we use 5 Icon devices and 5 accounts for key users. We use Icon devices for regular meetings between four worldwide sites. It is used by inter-department teams for communication between departments in more sites. It is definitely better than just telco, or Skype. It is more than a common meeting. From my point of view, it was good a decision for the integration of international teams. Travel is not needed so much for regular cooperation.
  • Good quality of video
  • Screen share is really good
  • It is a secured solution
  • Better interaction bettween connected sites.
Uh, video conferencing? As I described in the previous [question], there should be a better interaction tool between connected sites.

Lifesize is a system with a great interoperability with the s4b solution that we already use. We were looking for a hardware and software solution to replace the current Polycom. Today we are equipped with 4 physical rooms and all the leaders use it daily inside the company or with outside companies.
  • Video Quality and low bandwidth
  • Interoperability with s4b
  • Easy to use even for a basic user
  • Not many levels of administration
  • Outlook plugin crashes
For meetings less than half a day

Lifesize was purchased initially for our residency program. We have 3 cameras at the main training center and 2 other locations with a single camera and TV kit. We are also trying to replace WebEx with the Lifesize platform for more of our endusers. However lots of challenge there. Really does not do a good job compared to WebEx unfortunately. The problems it addresses are great connectivity between Lifesize cameras and equipment. Captures the room and intensity well...but again Lifesize camera to Lifesize camera (not utilizing laptop cameras).
  • If you are looking to truly use the Lifesize infrastructure, Lifesize camera to Lifesize camera, works very well.
  • Easy setup if you have just one camera to plug in. Super quick setup.
  • Support is quick to answer the phone when called.
  • If you are looking for something to replace WebEx or other platforms, this is not the tool. It's not to the level of WebEx as far as features go.
  • Lifesize needs to better support the MAC hardware.
  • When operating with more than 1 Lifesize camera and getting all of those in-sync, it gets complicated quickly.
  • Provide onsite support for environments that involve multiple cameras and not just hand over a PDF to the end user that just spent 10's of thousands of dollars on the product.
If utilizing 1 Lifesize camera to another, great. Lifesize works great for just straight video conferencing. You start mixing end user devices and trying to do what applications like WebEx do, Lifesize isn't there yet. It needs to get better at being more of a general platform for video conferencing IF they intend for it to have the same capabilities as WebEx.

Sizing up Lifesize

We use LifeSize to conduct meetings across the enterprise, as well as to record training sessions, and interviews. Lifesize cuts down on the travel time between our offices for meetings.
  • The system is easy to set up and administer.
  • The system is intuitive and easy to use.
  • Updates to the client are too frequent.
  • Web plugin does not work without a camera.
  • Marginal qualtity of shared computer content.
Lifesize's video conferencing is great and the video quality is excellent. The systems are easy to use, work on a variety of platforms, and are reliable. Lifesize is weak in the area of sharing desktop content between users and has no capability of allowing "remote control". If the main focus is desktop content sharing, GoToMeeting or WebEx is a better solution.

We currently use LifeSize to help increase employee coordination both internally and externally. It does a good job at allowing internal employees to work better together, from the same office, to the same country, and even all over the world. It quickly became very popular to use and was adopted very quickly as we had a need for an easy system that would help boost our cooperation and user experience between offices. It's even very popular for the use of LifeSize Cloud's Audio Only Meetings, as they can handle up to 25 participants and are one of the most common types of meetings we need to have. It's helped saved numerous flights and hotel stays around the world as often, business meetings can easily take place over LifeSize. Not all have been replaced, but definitely a good number.
  • LifeSize is simple to use. Especially when using LifeSize Cloud. The ease of selecting meetings, conference rooms, or available users to call is really, really helpful.
  • LifeSize Cloud's Single Sign On was a bit of a pain to set up, but now that it's running, it's amazingly simple to use and my users are already used to it!
  • The presentation quality has been upgraded over previous versions and is now better able to show spreadsheets and other documentation that is often looked at.
  • LifeSize updates their endpoints and user clients fairly often, meaning you're getting good security updates and software updates automatically, like you need to.
  • My biggest gripe was that when we first invested in LifeSize (and later Cloud), it didn't feel like a finished product. Large changes happen fairly often for a fully deployed product and that makes it difficult to get out in front of sometimes.
  • The price is expensive. While they're around the same range as their competition, with how far along the platform was when we started, it didn't feel like we should have had to pay as much as we did.
  • We had to have numerous bad issues and experiences over and over again before getting a very high level of support. However once things started to get too bad, LifeSize did step up and address our problems with the fervor and dedication that we wanted and expected.
We've deployed at least one LifeSize Icon 600 in every branch office we have, as well as another 6 or so in the various conference rooms around our headquarters. They are massively popular among our employees and help not only our local meetings with presentations, but also help connect our employees around the world to better support the company, and our customers. LifeSize has its issues, all systems do. However, I've rated it as a 10 as it's nothing we haven't been able to overcome and have been supported by LifeSize's company very well. Though again, there have been times where that wasn't up to snuff either, what counts is how they rectify and work to fix not only the issue but their support.

Lifesize was used across the company for customer and internal video conferences and collaboration. As far as I am concerned, Lifesize was a disaster. The video was really, really bad for internal uses across the U.S. Internationally it was a joke, unusable. I had to stop using Lifesize for customer calls because it would break down for no reason all the time. It was embarrassing.
  • Interface looks good, video layout.
  • Like to be able to make conference rooms.
  • Wow, [Lifesize has room for improvement] everywhere performance is needed, video poor, call quality poor.
  • Connectivity bad, breaks down. I think every Lifesize call or video call I had broke down. If not 100% maybe 90% had issues, where 1 or more people had to reconnect or we had to restart the full call...really bad use of expensive consultant time.
  • Does not work with Microsoft Lync/Skype for Business either. Did for a while and then just stopped working.
Lifesize may work better inside a company, does not work with a distributed global organization.

We use it across the whole organization from multiple office locations. We primarily use it between different boardrooms and often include others from outside of our organization. We also include audio callers into the videoconferences. Video is a better choice than audio when in-person isn't practical. It hasn't replaced travel, but it has certainly improved inter-office communication.
  • LifeSize Cloud is great for mixing audio callers and video participants into the same virtual meeting.
  • You can participate from a room system, laptop, phone, tablet, for by calling in.
  • Pretty easy to use.
  • LifeSize Cloud only uses on screen for video participants (even though they support dual screen systems); the second screen is only used for presentations.
  • The Cloud solution has had a lot of growing pains over the past year - availability issues, quality issues.
  • Cloud video resolution isn't as good as the non-cloud hardware-based bridging.
  • The systems are prone to being hacked - we end up having to do factory resets all too often after they have been compromised.
  • LifeSize has stopped supporting equipment that is more than 5 years old.
  • New Icon systems no longer support analog phone lines, only support SIP.
LifeSize Cloud is a very good idea. Its implementation has been a bit painful. They seem to be moving away from hardware which is a shame. They no longer support equipment more than 5 years old. Newer Icon series no longer supports analog phone lines. The quality isn't what it used to be (which was really excellent) - seems like what I think of when I think of Skype quality.

We are a company based in Texas with employees in different cities and we use Lifesize to interact with customers and providers. Some of our conferences have people from 3 different cities in US and 2 in other countries (Mexico and Guatemala)

We decided to try Lifesize and we have the premium account with 10 users and a Lifesize 400 in our conference room. Five of our employees have a user account. Creating meetings is really easy and the app lets you add it to your calendar. Joining the meeting is also very easy.

One to one meetings work great but we have problems with video and audio when people join as guests, we also have problems with video (including Lifesize main base) that comes and goes without any reason.

We join the meetings from the web, iPhone/iPad or PC which is very useful. Sometimes it works great, sometimes we have these issues.

Support is great and they are trying to figure out why we have this problem. I am hoping we will find a solution because the audio quality is very good and sharing screens is easy.

  • Creating a meeting and sending invitations is really easy.
  • Joining a meeting either by dialing (audio) or connecting through the web or gadgets (video and audio) is very easy as well.
  • Audio and video quality are very good.
  • We have issues when people join as guests, they either do not have audio (cannot be listened to and cannot listen) or the communication is lost.
  • Some PCs have problems when the camera is not in the screen, camera gadgets are not always recognized or found by Lifesize.
  • Video quality may be low, especially sharing a screen when you move the mouse or scroll your document.
Lifesize works great on one to one meetings and is a more professional way to meet than Skype or WebEx.

After looking at so many systems we decided to purchase Lifesize. The cost was lower than Cisco and Polycom video systems and still has high-end performance. Which is great for our nonprofit organization. The best part is the user can operate the equipment without a computer and or needing any technological skills to operate it. Set up is a breeze and if users know how to operate a smartphone they should need little to no training.
  • Compatible with most if not all platforms
  • Simple interface
  • License cloud fee could increase from year to year
  • 25 guests MAX in a virtue meeting
Travel is one of the main reasons we purchased Lifesize. We operate in upstate NY and Lifesize has reduced the cost and risk of driving in the winter.

We have video rooms with Lifesize Equipment in our offices, and clients for all employees too. We often cooperate between our offices so it helps a lot and makes the traveling time and cost lower.
  • Ease of use. Lifesize focuses on the user experience.
  • I like that it's easy to have video meetings across different platforms. Lifesize makes it easier.
  • Quality of video and sound is great.
  • We are longing for the ability to call a S4B-user from Lifesize.
  • We would like to automatically create virtual meeting rooms for all our projects.
  • Perhaps multi-user licenses. It is costly for us to buy licenses for all.

The installed hardware in the fixed rooms is the best, and I recommend that users use them as much as possible.

We experience more user problems with the client, even if it many times is a lack of education/knowledge that is the problem.

We utilized Lifesize for a short period last year as a new conferencing system for our agency. We were hoping our marketing services team would be able to take advantage of the audio conferencing system to make our weekly client calls easier to log on to for all attendees and easier to run. Unfortunately, we found the audio quality to be poor and weren't able to utilize Lifesize the way we had wanted to.
  • Video conferencing. This is definitely the main area of the tool that people utilize and get the most value out of.
  • Toolset. To get the most out of Lifesize and really change the way you communicate with people remotely, utilizing the impressive tool set of the camera and phone is definitely a must.
  • Collaboration. The platform allows for a couple of cool collaboration features that make it easier to move forward with items that normally would need to be covered in person.
  • Audio quality. We experienced major issues with voice quality and feedback on our calls.
  • Sharing invites isn't the easiest which is an industry problem.
Lifesize is great for companies and teams that are broken up across multiple locations but still require face to face communication in order to move projects forward. Requiring a larger amount of investment in technology, this is really for larger organizations with a budget. Companies looking for replacements to things like GoToMeeting, ReadyTalk or others should look elsewhere as this is a bit more niche to telecommuting teams.

They are massively popular among our employees and help not only our local meetings with presentations, but also help connect our employees around the western US to better support the company, and our customers. Our conference rooms have now been fully utilized by using the presentation feature to screen share even when a video conference is not happening.

  • The presentation quality has been upgraded over previous versions and is now better able to show spreadsheets and other documentation that is often looked at.
  • LifeSize updates their endpoints and user clients fairly often, meaning you're getting good security updates and software updates automatically, like you need to.
  • Price can be expensive for the hardware and Cloud subscription. They're competitive, but not cheap.
  • They try to push the use of their client instead of investing in tighter integration with an existing client like Skype for Business.
  • Given the simplicity of their product to use and implement, the reseller channel often does not add much value, but they do add plenty of cost on renewals, etc.

We at JL Audio use Lifesize in several ways.
1) Multiple daily conferences between staff at our locations in Miramar, Fl., Phoenix, Portland as well as remote staff in Europe and scattered around the US.
2) The company invests in providing staff with professional and personal self-help training with a reputable trainer. She used to have to fly in. Because of Lifesize, we now have more routine sessions with her and she obviously does not have to fly in. It has allowed us to increase the frequencies of the trainings.
3) Interviews - we now have the ability to interview staff who may not be available to come or whom we are trying to gauge their suitability for a position or job. Now we don't have to fly them in initially for the face to face interview.

  • Consistent functionality - it just works when you need it. Turn it on, login and voila. It works.
  • Desktop presentation works very well and is quite clear.
  • Audio quality is very good at least in my experience. As long as the parties involved have a good quality internet connection, the audio seems to be excellent.
  • We would like to see users be able to select a main presenter and have that person's image feed remain as the MAIN image during a video call and not switch between participants as they speak.
  • Occasionally the calls lock up or freeze apparently randomly. Other the video quality degrades greatly adn take a few moments to repair itself. However this is not a frequent occurrence..
Of course it is excellent for office meetings and conferences, interviews with remote prospects and training. It is less appropriate for our sales department to use when for example they'd like to do a meeting with all of our national reps whereby these reps can call or video conference in. Because of the limitation on the number of connections, this is a less appropriate scenario.

We use Lifesize Cloud for the whole global company. Any device, anywhere. It allowed us to save on many other tools we were currently paying for as well as the big savings of travel!
  • Just push the meeting button and you're in!
  • It is almost idiot proof.
  • Anyone can use it.
  • You do not need to have a plugin installed on your web browser.
  • Need to be able to set everyone as an admin setting to mute on entry for the whole enterprise.
  • In admin portal I need camera control to control camera that I am on a meeting like a town hall multiple sights- CEO moves and I can't do anything!!! The old remote was way better for camera control- need the buttons on new remote.
  • Need be able select meeting participants like in GoToMetting as a admin and unmute and to present, for larger meetings.
[Lifesize is well suited for] Any where any how!

This is getting used company wide. We have branches across Canada so this facilitates meetings amongst multiple terminals and gives the ability to screen share. I use Lifesize daily for meetings and I'm able to put on presentations and tutorials across multiple terminals at once. The in-person feel of Lifesize helps with the facilitation.
  • Easy start up, less time spent on installation and implementation.
  • The video conferencing breaks up or freezes on a daily basis.
  • The audio breaks up if there are other Lifesize lines in use.
  • Screen share is not clear. Also needs to be bigger.
Well suited for companies that have multiple terminals and a LOT of bandwidth. Not so for those with very limited bandwidth.

We use Lifesize as our conferencing application across multiple locations. We have set up specific rooms in all three offices to support group conferencing but also allow remote users to use Lifesize to join or enable them to use personal video conferences.

We are geographically in Vancouver, Toronto and San Francisco and Lifesize reduces the amount of travel time for our employees. Besides meetings, we use Lifesize to facilitate our company-wide updates.
  • Ease of use - a directory is available for all parties to connect to internal staff.
  • Cloud based enables the platform to connect our remote sales agents.
  • High definition videos using the Lifesize consoles are very clear.
  • A component that is available in other products like GoToMeeting as a "webinar" type application which allows group management and control capabilities for participants.
Group conferencing is good with Lifesize. The movement to the cloud extends its capabilities to remote users. As mentioned previously, a functionality for some type of "webinar" controls would be a great addition to the product.

We use Lifesize Video Conferencing to enable our executives to have face to face meetings across countries and plant locations. It has saved us money in travel, but more importantly Lifesize gets us face to face which makes a big difference in gauging the understanding of those in meetings together. Our executives can't live without it.
  • The Lifesize cloud product minimizes network traffic so it doesn't impact network performance no matter how many users are on.
  • The Lifesize codecs and cameras are HD quality and crystal clear.
  • The Lifesize products are a fraction of the cost of other brands but every bit as high quality.
  • I think getting shared content into the video conference doesn't work as well as it could. We end up using shared projectors instead because it is so much easier to read/see.
In any business that has multiple locations that people need to travel to is where Lifesize will shine. The telephone just isn't enough but being able to see people and have those non-verbal cues is very important, without the travel budget.

The primary reason for getting Lifesize was to reduce travel between our offices. Video conferencing puts remote office employees into the meeting room as if they were there with colleagues across the country. It really changes the nature of colleagues who are used to working on the phone together. Face to face adds a certain trust.

We also feel we are getting more effective conferences. Instead of very passive calls, where we don't know what people are doing....we are suddenly face to face...knowing they are tuned in.
  • Admin screen is good and IT friendly.
  • Manage meetings well. Easy to join meetings or dial in.
  • Remote zoom is a great feature, so we can pan and zoom into the speaker or look at a demo.
  • Sometimes the video jumps and freezes - especially on a PC or Mac.
  • Sound issues and echo is our biggest frustration. It's not nearly as good as the phone.
  • Our biggest complaint is that the screen automatically goes to the speaker. They claim this is a feature, but it's not a good practice for us. As the executive in the room wants to see everyone despite who's speaking. This should be configurable.
It's good for remote offices. It's easy to start a meeting in seconds with no setup. No planning is needed, we can just dial and we have the other party on screen to begin. It's ideal for presentations and screen sharing, but that needs a bit of work.

We have deployed Lifesize across our whole organization. This has allowed Synacor to be able to better communicate with its global staff. We have been able to connect all of our conference rooms around the world and it has really allowed us to better integrate our acquisitions and become a more together company.
  • It allows us to bring our entire organization together in one forum.
  • Lifesize has allowed us to manage a more global staff, as meeting rooms have become very popular throughout the organization.
  • The application leaves a bit to be desired. It does lock up quite a bit.
  • Lifesize needs the ability to add more people to conference rooms. The 40 person limit is annoying.
If you have conference rooms, globally, this is where LifeSize excels. The video quality on the Icon 400 and 600 cameras is spot on. I have never had an issue with either one of these platforms and we always try to sway users to the conference rooms whenever possible. It is also a great tool for 1 on 1 video conversations as it has a nice point to point feature.
