Lifesize Video Conferencing is being used in some departments of our society.

It is mainly used for:

Conferences with shareholders who are abroad
Conferences with leaders of our society who are traveling outside the company
Job interviews by the human resources department
Conferences with foreign suppliers
  • Adjusting the sensitivity of the voice quality according to the available bandwidth, for constant voice quality optimization
  • Fits well the visibility of the cam according to the available light in the environment
  • Sharing a presentation from a mobile device like iPad or smartphone
We are very happy with how it works and the ease of use. The personal access using a simple internet browser is very simple.

LifeSize is being used across our entire organization. We use Lifesize Video Conferencing units in nearly every one of our meeting rooms. We also use the LifeSize Cloud client on every employee's laptop as a standard. We use the platform for our weekly all-hands meetings as well as for nearly every inter-office meeting. We have 9 locations globally and the reliability is markedly better than anything we have used.
  • We particularly like using the VMR (Virtual Meeting Rooms). This allow us to have people dial into meetings regardless of location or booked room. The VMR allows the moderator to mute anyone, control the presentation, and allows others to join without interrupting.
  • Another great feature of LifeSize is the Cloud client that you can run on your laptop or smart phone.
  • LifeSize allows SIP phone integration and dialing. We have a SIP phone number assigned to most of our conference rooms using LifeSize units. This allows for direct dialing of the units as if they were another office phone.
  • Over the last few years we have seen LifeSize deal with some growing pains and the roll out of new features and patches to older versions. We have seen constant improvement with the product over this time.
  • One of the issues we used to have was with poor call quality while using the Cloud app on laptops. This issue was worked on by their engineers with our feedback and we were able to isolate some issues, find some best practices to mitigate the issue until there was a long term fix, and finally though the resolution.
  • When issues are encountered, the team at LifeSize is always receptive and helpful.
Lifesize is the best video conferencing solution we have ever used here at SurveyMonkey. I would highly recommend them if you are serious about your video conferencing needs. We compared them to other top tier products, such as Cisco's video conferencing solutions. It is a highly reliable and easy to configure system that is comparable in price to other top tier players. The mobile client is a great feature.

We have been using the product for several years now. The entire Surveymonkey organization has been using it for a while now and the cloud service has been accessed by many employees. We have a lot of remote employees and people who just like to work from home occasionally, so it is pretty simple to hop on a call. We are not a creative bunch so we use the bare minimum of the product. Just being able to hit the call button and see someone on the screen is good enough for us.
  • Very easy to make a call.
  • Automatic unit updates
  • Excellent support
  • Service reliability
  • Units having intermittent problems
If you want the easiest way to provision a unit and have a conference room ready for videoconferencing, then Lifesize is definitely the way to go. I think that the optimum size for a company to use Lifesize is between 100-1000 but I could be wrong. It doesn't sound like they have an infrastructure as big as WebEx so I am concerned about server bottlenecks. It is still an overkill for something that is a tiny startup, but a medium sized company is perfect.

We currently utilize Lifesize conferencing across our entire organization. We are spread out amongst 5 remote office locations and this allows for us to maintain communication and face-face briefings on daily activities. More recently we have begun using it to provide training to people at our remote sites as well. With the advent of Lifesize Cloud, we have also heavily expanded the use to people connecting via smart devices from individual offices or homes.
  • Good clear video and audio quality. After upgrading our 10-12 year old systems, the quality was strikingly better. But, even still, the older equipment was rock solid despite being many years past its life expectancy.
  • Remote management of the remote "Room" systems. This allows for my staff to monitor and make changes to "room" settings without having to travel great distances to make a simple settings change, drastically improving IT time.
  • Ease of use. The system is extremely easy to use, which is especially important for non-technical people. We literally deployed the upgraded system and before we had a chance to notify anyone, they were up and using the system with no problems. Again, saving IT staff time.
  • The web application requires a remote access user to have a camera on their own system before they are allowed to join in on a video conference. While they can phone in and listen to the conference, it would be nice if they could also still watch the conference even if they did not have a camera on their own computer. While it is quickly becoming the norm for all laptops to have cameras, there are a great deal of desktop machines that do not.
Appropriate:
  1. Daily briefings amongst our remote stations/offices
  2. Remote interviews with potential job candidates
  3. Training
Inappropriate:
  1. "Tough talks" with employees where personal connection is needed or appropriate
  2. When discussing sensitive information

We have offices in different cities and use LifeSize to connect them. After the first administration of adding the rooms to the cloud, it is easy for the end users to connect and share their desktop screen while being able to see each other.
  • Easy to use for the end user.
  • Easy to manage for an administrator.
  • Good support.
  • More advanced instructions for setting up extra features.
It's good when you have a medium/big company in need of videoconferencing.

As a consultant and solutions architect, it is my job to provide the best solutions possible to my client, then conduct the installation and be responsible for support. Lifesize makes my life easier, by making my clients' lives easier. It is such a simple, powerful, and cost effective solution, that the product practically sells itself. In fact, instead of going for the lowest cost option provided, like is common when presenting a lot of products, my clients tend to ask "how else can we use this" and the sky is really the limit. I also have it easy when it comes to support, as no infrastructure exists for me to provide support on, and I mostly just have to deal with training, which is minimal in its own right. As for as my clients, beyond the cost and ease of use benefits, my clients are able to become much more productive by having communication and conferencing abilities anywhere and everywhere, which means impromptu face-to-face meetings with other employees become very normal, regardless of where they are geographically.
  • Scales easily and cheaply with company growth
  • Provides high-quality full-HD video
  • Deploys very easily
  • Very easy to operate and support
  • Lifesize would be even better if machines could connect by a name rather than IP
  • Really, the only problem is that it works too well
  • I wouldn't mind seeing AWS integration
Lifesize is well suited for pretty much any scenario, except when audio quality is of utmost importance.

We are a fast growing global company. Our employees, from engineering and research to sales and finance use videoconferencing daily to collaborate in meeting rooms and from mobile devices around the world.
  • Calls are easy to make. The directory makes it easy to find people or meeting rooms.
  • Being able to join a conference room from a mobile device is terrific.
  • The support for 40+ participants in a call allows for some great opportunities.
  • Call quality is average to bad in 10-20% of calls with no way to rate a particular call or discover root cause.
  • Support is understaffed.
  • Lifesize needs to think bigger with Cloud. Endpoint management and alerting could be far better. Calendar integration with Gcal is a must for enterprises. Displaying the calendar on the conf room screen would be great. They need to investigate their competition and cherry pick things to add to the service.
Lifesize is great for medium to larger conference rooms. It is less suitable for huddle rooms as the 3x camera crops too much of the FOV for good use in those types of rooms.

We use Lifesize across our whole organisation. We currently have 4 physical systems and a 10 user cloud license. We make approximately 50 calls a month across all instances and find the quality of the calls extremely good. It reduced the need for travel as we are able to communicate so effectively with all locations on a regular basis.
  • Simple to use and requires little support from the IT Department.
  • High quality video and audio quality.
  • The "newish" cloud feature is very expensive in comparison to the old "ClearSea" solution which allowed users to call into the physical systems from an application of phones\pads\pc's etc.
  • The systems need to be set to reboot each night to prevent them from crashing every few weeks. I have not found an alternative way around this.
  • Desktop sharing is very slow to respond and remains blurry on the receivers end for several seconds after the picture has been sent. Therefore scrolling on an Excel screen for example doesn't work very well as the user controlling the desktop at the local site can't tell if the picture is clear on the receivers end. This leads to many interrupts during a meeting and is therefore not really usable in our experience. Desktop sharing on the Cloud option is even worse and only presents a very small screen to the users. This screen cannot be enlarged or made the primary screen.
  • Although the systems say they support multiple screens and have been told by sales staff and support staff that in a three way call we could have each remote site on a different screen this has never been possible. We can use a split screen on one of the displays to show the two sites while the second screen can is used for desktop sharing (which as already explained isn't great) or looking at your own image back.
Companies that have multiple sites and want physical equipment that provide HD Video & Audio quality conference facilities with an option to add remote users in SD quality from offsite locations will benefit hugely from such a system.

It is being used across the organization to conduct meetings between multiple sites and outside entities.
  • Easy Cloud Based Implementation
  • Quality Equipment
  • Good Software client
  • Interoperability with other systems such as Webex
  • Ability to setup users that cannot add additional users, only invite guests
Great for conference rooms (hardware) as well as PCs (software)

We are new to LifeSize, we have implemented it across the enterprise. The support has been fantastic, and the product works extremely well. The LifeSize product has helped with quickly connecting with offices in other states, and with clients. Users are able to quickly connect to meetings via a web browser and join in collaborating on projects and processes.
  • Quick connection for users via web browser with out needing to maintain plugins.
  • Very informative information on system updates.
  • Simple and ease of use for end users. No guessing or wondering.
  • The use of Amazon Cloud service for connectivity leaves IT departments scrambling when the IP address range changes.
LifeSize has a use in any size organization, even for small remote offices, it is easy to connect to the offices, record trainings or meetings with LifeSize Cloud solution. For mid to large organizations, multiple Icon Units in training rooms, offices, enclaves, etc., make it easy to connect with other offices. Even for remote employees that work from home or on the go, they are able to join in the conference and participate from their laptop or mobile device.

It is being used by key business offices within the company. Currently the main usage is with larger screens within a conference room. With a company spanning the world with many offices, initially key locations mainly engineering and corporate type offices were selected to have a system installed. These systems were Team 220 hardware using additional mikes and capability to use a PC as input for presentations etc.
  • Lifesize Team 220 systems are well made and high quality. They are easy to use and provide many ways to connect to remote systems.
  • The ability to bring on many systems into one call via bridging is key to having the proper users attend.
  • The recent addition of LifeSize cloud services has now broadened the capabilities to have users join conferences.
  • The addition of other devices to connect to a call besides PCs and main units like the 220 unit makes using Lifesize a reason to hold a conference call.
  • Sometimes quality of calls is lacking which leads to dropped calls.
  • The placement of video panes within some smaller devices can be improved.
I think that Lifesize is suited well in many environments. User to user or conference room to conference room are most type of calls that we have.
