Reviews
(1-25 of 38)Lifesize to connect Worldwide
- It is great to have a universal directory that everyone has in sync.
- Good to have the flexibility to use a laptop for Lifesize.
- Good to be able to test the system using the Virtual Call feature.
- Previously with Polycom we had the ability to view the Far end via camera to see who was in the room or which location they were already on a call.
- The Virtual Test call could be improved further because during the recording of your video it should split the screen to show you what it is recording. It should also have the capability of calling you back to make sure that other people can call you.
- The quality of the video is not too good when more than 3 locations are connected.
Lifesize emerging as a key player in Video conferencing
- No Extra license for joining Video hardware devices.
- Lifesize Support is very responsive.
- Lifesize Touch panel with inbuilt Mic, Speaker & touch is fantastic
- Normal dialing & USB plug & play mode in new series.
- Polling Features
- Old system to be made compatible to current situation.
- Feature improvements
Lifesize hands down!
- Video quality
- Sound quality
- Easier setup
LifeSize review from 3 years' perspective
- Availability & reliability: we've never had issues when the system was down
- It's well known on the market and easy to get support
- It is easy to use and set up
- Sometimes when we tried using LifeSize on 2 screens & 2 sets within one room it was a bit tricky to set it up to ensure both screens display the same.
- Similar case when we displayed the presentation and were sharing screen of one of our participants. There were cases when it was tricky to get the screen sharing mode and synch it with sound.
LifeSize Review
- The hardware provides very good quality audio. The satellite microphone is also used as a speaker and the touch screen navigation menu is easy to use.
- Allows for third party vendors to join by simply dialing or clicking on a link.
- Good quality video without compromising network resources. Each LifeSize call is capped at 2MB per call.
- Wish it had collaboration capabilities such as Microsoft Teams.
- It requires a client to install. Unable to join the call by simply accessing a web browser.
- It does not integrate well with other vendors such as Polycom or Crestron devices.
Video Conference capabilities with the Lifesize units
- The video display is high quality.
- Ease of use in the interface.
- Good sound quality.
- The lower end models need a more robust directory assistant.
- The dial/microphone unit is poorly designed, and has a very fragile cable which breaks quite easily.
Any video conference room venue larger than the above will not work well, as the video oom is largely limited to a low-level of magnification, and the audio capability fails at about 20 ft. from the main unit.

- Knowledgeable and reliable sales and customer service at Lifesize
- Access to Lifesize Community, which connects other Lifesize users/clients, and gives users the ability to request features directly with the support and development teams.
- Technical support that is second to NONE!
- More screen layout options
- Ability to customize screen layouts
- ability to store ip based systems as favorites.
- Customizable recording interface--ability to change and arrange PIPs as desired
Great tool for remote productivity
- Easy set up
- Addresses are in the system, easy to look up a participant and connect with them.
- Great audio/video presentation quality
- With multiple participants on a single call, the speaker's video is enlarged on the screen to highlight who is talking. Nice.
- On occasion, the video drops, probably our Internet connection issue.
- Sometimes we have to reboot for an unknown issue. That usually fixes problem though.
Affordable, Great Startup Software
- Encrypted Communications: Competing against other newspapers and stations is tough. Lifesize Video Conferencing helps us keep our content original and encrypted.
- Multiple Screen Sharing: Before, our preferred method of contact was a text message or a FaceTime call. This program allows us to share the same video chat with multiple sources. We've streamed interviews across 4 different games and given live in-game updates - that's something our competitors can never touch us with.
- Sharable Content: Our meetings and interviews can be recorded and shared amongst our other team members or with the public through social media.
- IT Support: Set up and customer service wasn't the easiest to deal with. After finally getting through the initial setup, everything else was smooth sailing.
- Marketing Approach: It's not meant for everyone. We were simply sold a piece of hardware which was a risk but ultimately it met our business needs. Make sure that it fits your brand for what you're attempting to accomplish.
Our initial setup was difficult, and we had to work around other workers who are technologically impaired, per se. The support team provided to us was mostly unresponsive, but we managed in spite of it.
A software I recommend my colleagues
We have five locations across three states, as well as many remote workers. LifeSize offers a way for us to easily have all of our employees join video meetings together, regardless if there are 20 people together in a large conference room using a room system, or if it is a remote worker connecting via their smart phone or tablet.
Additionally, the LifeSize support team has been fantastic in working through optimizing our system over the years. They definitely have a more customer-focused approach than larger vendors or services such as Skype.
The chat functionality is still immature compared to competing group productivity platforms, such as Slack. Would really love to see LifeSize beef up those types of features to make it truly a single platform that can provide robust instant messaging (including rich text, images, etc.) and better notifications for desktop users, in addition to the great video experience that LifeSize is known for.
If you work in small ad-hoc teams, LifeSize may be a little expensive or not offer the right balance of video-to-other collaboration-type communication features, such as robust chat and file sharing. However, if you work in an environment with larger teams spread out that also need to connect with individuals wherever they might be, then LifeSize is a solid consideration. It offers relatively platform-agnostic high quality video meetings with screen sharing and recording as the
- LifeSize happened to be one of the solutions we were able to pitch in easily, as it moved from a complete H.323 system to a cloud solution thanks to the Lifesize cloud. This allowed users to do their Video Conference calls without spending additional money on dedicated lines for your Video Conference.
- Easy setup and use of devices they really try to make it easy on users
- I dislike that they are no longer making the Team/Room 220's. I am not a fan of the Icon editions that are replacing the Team/Room 220's for my classrooms and conference rooms. I do not like, when I remote into the codecs, that the layout is very limited compared to the Team/Room 220's. I can no longer see if someone is in the room or able to access the remote control or adjust the cameras. Because we are not using the "Cloud" with our codecs, users are no longer able to access a directory. The remote control looks almost like the Apple TV remote, which has very few buttons with no labels on it. My users, who are not very tech savvy, would rather not use the equipment unless some else sets it up for them.
- Software for computers could be more robust. One thing I would like to see is a way to click on one of the video streams to just see it large and be able to toggle which screen I want to see myself, instead of the software deciding which one should be the focus point based on who is talking.
We generally pitch in VC as a solution to recover your travel costs and make sure that you get your Return On Investment from the savings in time, energy and money that will result in business productivity.
However, with Lifesize, we also pitch in the savings customers get by going ahead with the cloud, and not just the endpoints.
Good, competitive video conferencing choice.
- Easy meeting setups
- Easy installation setup on our devices
- Very good quality video and voice
- The chat feature can be improved. It feels a little clunky.
- The admin panel can be more user-friendly.
- Compared to competitors, price isn't all that great.
Lifesize saves company on travel cost!
- Easy of setup, 3 cables and your up and running
- Great picture at low internet speeds
- Very flexible when using other tech
- Better 3rd party support
- Easier use of multiple cameras
- Wifi ability in smaller units
Lifesize - Simple to use for the smaller office
- Easy to use
- Good quality for the price point
- Simple to set up
- User interface could be cleaner
- Not all products work with the cloud product
- Slow to update
LifeSize - an easy, effective, and affordable option for domestic and international communication
- Ease-of-use! My colleagues and I wanted a system that "just works". LifeSize works exceptionally well, and it's very intuitive to use. Many of my colleagues were able to use the system successfully upon their first attempt without any formal training or manuals.
- The call quality is exceptional. Before LifeSize, we used another brand and their call quality was underwhelming. When we installed our first LifeSize devices, the call quality blew us away. It's as close to being in the same room as you can get without actually being there.
- Compatibility! Lifesize is incredibly easy to access for our guests. We can send guests an email invitation, and they can join our meetings via their PCs by simply opening the link in their web browser. We have also had guests join via their handheld devices. At one point, we had a colleague join a call via his iPhone while he boarded a train in Europe. He remained connected for the entire 45 minute call, even as his train traveled through the hillsides.
- I have very few cons for the system. The only one that is perhaps worth mentioning is that they don't allow for steady guest accounts. We only have so many licenses to share internally, so most of our traveling colleagues connect to our calls as a guest. Each time they call in as a guest, they have to enter in the correct extension for the office they wish to call. It would be great if the LifeSize app allowed guest users to have a recent call directory, so that these colleagues of mine wouldn't have to search for the extensions each time they wished to call in.
Small university - large LIfesize opportunities
- The most obvious example of a Lifesize benefit is its consistency for us. We don't have ups and downs in quality. Being able to immediately connect is a definite requirement , especially for professors who expect a course to start and remain a quality connection.
- The user interface and ease of use is important to us. Administrators who need to conduct a board meeting or a novice professor must be able to connect and expect a quality connection with little training and or no need for review of operation since they may use it infrequently.
- On occasions when support is needed or when we needed training upon initial purchase the customer support was outstanding. Our initial onboarding was as extensive as we wished it to be and left us feeling confident in the product's use.
- Speaking as an instructional technologist working with technology adverse professors the back end of LIfesize setup and all of the settings can be confusing or difficult. I happened to have an exceptional re-seller in our region (100 miles away) who has been a lifesaver several times when something went wonky after a non-Lifesize failure meant we had to make changes.
A Day in the Life of a LifeSize user
Lifesize not only reduces our travel costs (obvious) but it also allows us to maintain closer working relationships with each other internally, as we can collaborate on system designs, solve technical issues and just plain feel like we are in the same location.
And as an Audio-Video company who designs these types of solutions for our clients, we are able to truly represent the many ways that it has improved our business communications. Honestly, I don't know how we could function effectively without it.
- LifeSize endpoints are the easiest solution out there to use; having used most of what else is out there we feel that LifeSize really focused on the "keep it simple" strategy and it is greatly appreciated.
- LifeSize Cloud is a great product and it just continues to improve. LifeSize focused on the features they really matter and made them as resilient as possible, with the result being a platform that works every time for us.
- Working with LifeSize support reminds me that not every support experience needs to be like a trip to the dentist. They are friendly, knowledgeable and if they don't know the answer, they will always stay on the problem until it is solved, no matter what it takes. That's a rare quality these days, and one that is truly appreciated.
- I feel they are doing a good job with the current products, and I really don't have any examples of improvement at this time.
If you have a single location, everyone comes into the office, you don't travel and your clients are old-school and won't use video as well then it's probably not a good fit.
Lifesize Review
- Makes it extremely easy for just about any user to start or join a meeting.
- Allows us to record the sessions and make recordings available to staff.
- Audio and video have always been clear.
- Not sure it's really one of the easiest setups we've come across. It also very user-friendly.
Enjoy your videoconferences with Lifesize
- Sound, video and presentation quality
- User experience
- Ability to launch a call in a Lifesize room from a laptop (from the web browser)
- Ability to make the solution interoperable with Skype for Business. It works, but not easily, not always.
Where it is well suited:
- cost of the solution compared to POLYCOM or CISCO
- very good quality for sound + video
- strong infrastructures behind the hardware with Lifesize Cloud and private backbone
Where it is less appropriate:
- interoperability with Skype for Business
- some issues when dealing with virtual meeting rooms (people disconnected, presentations that can disappear)
Great real time conference
- Easy to use for first time users - intuitive interface.
- Consistent experience - no embarrassing disconnects of other glitches as far as our experience.
- Conveniently connects users worldwide within seconds.
- Using the touchpad to look up users is easy and convenient.
- The limited amount of licenses owned by our organization results in colleagues having to connect as guests.
- Video pane placement in smaller devices can be frustrating.
- The app does not allow for a recently contacted list.
Lifesize Videoconferencing
- Great quality HD conferencing
- Easy to use for non technical users
- Value priced
- Good support/ rma processes
- Directory function was limited
- Budget conscious installations
- No ISDN requirements
- Greenfield, all-Lifesize deployment
- Legacy ISDN connectivity required
- Mixed vendor deployment - this is not to say that Lifesize will not work in a mixed vendor environment, but specifically around global directory management, some workarounds might be necessary
Long time user and Cloud user when it first came out.
- Lifesize Video Conferencing can be used on any computer that connects to the internet, including phones, iPad, Surface Pro's etc. The main key here is internet access, it must be robust enough to handle the bandwidth.
- It is fairly easy to use across a wide variety of domains.
- Video is clear and sound is very good.
- Connections are lost due to a variety of influences, one being the bandwidth with others connected from an outside source such as their laptop, phone, tablet, each uses about 1.5mg, add them all up on the same network and your BW takes a hit. All of these influence whether this system works up to its potential.
We have a Charter connection that is shared by visitors in the bank. We lose connections and have to restart the cloud connection during a half hour long conference. We tried it on our network and it did not work hardly at all so we increased our bandwidth by switching to MPLS, this did not work and we had multiple dropped calls. After Lifesize put their engineers on the problem we found we had issues with our network setup.
A solid video conferencing system
- The quality of the video is generally very high.
- It is generally pretty easy to set up conferences.
- LifeSize has gone through a lot of changes and updates over the last coupe of years.
- Cloud seems to have a lot of issues.
- Sometimes it feels like the step to download to connect is lengthy.
- I'm not always happy with how it selects feeds to be the main feed.
Lifesize is the RightSize.
- High quality video.
- Relatively simple setup and administration.
- Very cost effective.
- Onscreen menus could use a rework. Sometimes hard to find what you need.
High-end system for high-end needs
- High quality video stream - great picture quality at low bandwidth
- Mixed presentation and video simultaneous - see the presentation, see who's presenting
- Easy setup and installation
- Proprietary equipment - you have to buy their gear to use their service
- Pricey for initial setup and installation
- Limited software controls during meetings, controlling the equipment is disruptive to the event
Full size result with Lifesize
- Clear uninterrupted video conferencing.
- Chat and presentation sharing.
- An easy to use interface.
- Managing the users, an admin cannot edit one's name if the name is missing.
- Setting or defaulting to a structure for the directory, Fname or LName right now it is anything goes, and the directory is live so one can put in a nick name that could be vulgar.
- Updates, it would be nice to push these without interaction.
- Allowing an install setup for Lifesize cloud to be on at startup and logged in.
