(51-75 of 214)High performance, flexible compute at an affordable price
- High performance Linux based compute
- Flexible, pay as you go pricing that has become the norm in the industry
- Great support from real human beings!
- If you're looking for SaaS, look elsewhere, but that's not what I go to Linode for
- Storage prices are high
Solid IaaS provider and service offering
- Easy access control panel.
- Quick and easy upscaling.
- Fast backup and recovery/rollback process.
- Logging improvements, metric timers, and further details made available by Longview etc.
Rock solid performance and service from Linode
- Flexibility to increase the size of the servers based on the application load.
- Pricing model is really good and very cost effective.
- Ease of use to implement changes at root level based on the application-specific installations and configurations.
- Support from the Linode team is really good and responsive.
- Support for multiple operating systems needs improvement.
- Documentation needs some improvement with more elaborative flow diagrams and examples about niche functionalities.
- A considerable amount of training and study is required by the engineers to initially set up and start working on the servers.
Linode is Consistent, Flexible, and Reliable
- Wide variety of servers and options to choose from.
- Excellent support for fixing up the server related issues.
- Extensive set of options available for different operating systems.
- Very user-intuitive dashboard for managing the servers.
- Easy to shrink and expand the server without much effort/issues.
- Linode does not have a presence and availability in different geographic locations, hope they have the same soon.
Linode Delivers What It Promises
- Many locations of datacenter
- Wide selection of pre-installed applications in the marketplace
- Price is very affordable.
- User interface in the account panel is easy to understand.
- Fast server
- Linode provides tutorials for new users thru Youtube channel.
- Payment is per usage, not monthly.
- Responsive customer service
- I have not succeeded in using the DNS of Linode with a website not hosted in their server. I hope their DNS is as user-friendly as DO and Vultr.
- Cloud storage user interface is not as easy as DO. I want to see their cloud storage on a pay-per-usage scheme, not monthly.
- For VPS, I wish Linode to increase the SSD space storage of their basic VPS larger than those of competitors.
Linode: a simple VM hosting service where you get a great product for a reasonable price
- Extremely simple setup.
- Backup snapshotting as an add-on feature.
- Recovery controls for systems that are inaccessible via SSH.
- Web interface design is clunky.
- Knowing when to upgrade VMs is often unclear.
- Pricing for some features feel poorly gradated.
Linode VPS of the year!
- Customer service
- Deployment
- Scalability
- More detailed walkthroughs
- More easy to to plan downtime and maintenance
- Gives users more status updates on health
You won't regret going to Linode!
- Speed of turn-up. It's instantly on!
- Fast support.
- Highly competent support
- I would like to see VPSs offered in eastern Europe and Asia.
- I would like to see cheaper bulk storage options, similar to TransIP
Affordable reliable and performant VPSs
- Easy VPS instance creation and management.
- Good uptime track record.
- Good VPS performance.
- Linode does not provide easy image snapshot storage like DigitalOcean. That is a greatly missed feature.
For my home use, Linode is the best value.
- Ease of use
- Straight forward billing
- Comparable service features to "high end" providers
- A distinguishing UI... or more detailed for advanced users or more simple for the novice users.
- More pre-fab images to deploy.
- More a-la-carte options per node.
Linode gives great reliability combined with great value
- Support! Always quick responses from support.
- Stability - In 10 years, I can count the downtown on one hand.
- Easy! Need more resources? Click a button and reboot.
- I'd like to see billing in local currency.
I find that Linodes block offerings are not as robust as they should be with a minimum block of 250gb.
Reliable server options at great prices
- Affordable.
- Easy to configure.
- Reliable.
- Easier access to support.
- More data centers.
- Timelier responses.
Linode Rocks!
- They make it extremely easy to setup and deploy server instances.
- Pricing is very competitive.
- They have many service/product offerings..
- I love how they are constantly adding more services/value.
- I wouldn't call this an improvement request as much as a want. I'd like to see Linode offer a reselling option.
- I feel like your larger server offerings (mainly large server hard drive space) are overpriced.
- I'd like to see better interface (built-in) for using object storage device.
Linode has been the winner for over a decade
- Customer service has always been knowledgeable enough to help us make decisions.
- Prices are reasonable and Linode has fought to stay competitive.
- Servers have been exceptionally stable.
- Disk space quotas are insufficient for significant work, and block storage is too expensive
- While fine for us, leaving an average user to manage a Linux system is a recipe for frustration
- It would be great if the parameters for each VPS could be purchased/modified separately; some projects warrant a large CPU and low bandwidth, others the opposite
- If a user runs a relay of some sort (such as Tor), it tends to cause problems where the user is legally responsible for any traffic passing through, but all abuse claims are filtered through Linode, frustrating them and delaying results.
Linode: The best surprise is no surprise! It's reliable and predictable with great performance.
- Flexibility and ease of use to quickly spin up new server instances.
- Stability and uptime are almost perfect, but if some issue arises, customer support goes above and beyond to troubleshoot.
- Pricing is transparent and generous resources in bandwidth offer peace of mind.
- Different server configuration packages to fine tune to needs (e.g., high CPU, high RAM, etc.).
- Ability to move up and down between packages easily depending on traffic.
- Super fast SSD hardware.
- Storage space can be limiting on lower-end plans
- Backup feature is very limiting and can only restore in full to specific days as defined by linode (e.g. cannot restore to a backup from 2 days ago - only yesterday, 7 days ago, etc)
- Backup feature cannot restore individual files - the entire server has to be restored
- Can be challenging for business owners with little sysadmin knowledge. Requires some knowledge/reading of various guides to properly secure the server
However, with great power comes some responsibility. While it's definitely doable, there is a bit of a learning curve to secure and optimize the resources available. Luckily, there are hundreds of great guides on Linode but the service is still a significant departure if you're used to "one click" interfaces that are commonly available through shared hosting providers.
- excellent price/performance
- excellent customer support
- reliable
- not enough data centers compared to competition
- some data centers are old
- monitoring (Longview) cost money while others don't - free version isn't good
- Linode offers what you need when you need it, and their various price points mean you don't need to maintain systems you aren't using, and the fact that you can scale up or down at any time makes it a no-brainer.
- There are times I'd like to provision a unit with specific specs (such as more storage, or more CPUs, or extra RAM), and while you can add storage easily enough once your system is set up, changing RAM or CPUs is problematic, you basically need to delete and recreate a system, loosing all of your work done up to that point.
- Their API is nice too, but I can't find any way to do custom things with the API, such as monitor CPU usage and spin up another instance when it reaches a certain point.
- I've also not figured out how to tie multiple instances together to serve multiple users transparently. That doesn't mean it's not available, it just means I've not found it yet.
My go to for Linux VMs for over 3 years. Very simple to use! Flat pricing/no $#@! cost calculators. RTX6000 GPUs!!!!
More recently, for personal/hobby use, I have been using their Nvidia RTX 6000 GPU VMs to render my Blender 3D creations in as it is a huge cost saving over using a cloud render farm and I can use whatever version of Blender I want rather than the old LTS version.
- Australian based datacentre
- Helpful customer services
- Very quick to spin up a new VM
- Competitive pricing structure
- Flat pricing structure. (I have developed a loathing for cost calculators over the years. Yes! I am talking about AWS and Google Cloud!)
- Nvidia RTX 6000 GPU VMs!!!
- A Graphical console (GLISH) that can be used for starting/debugging applications that require OpenGL
- The (new) 'create custom image' function needs a bit of work before it is useable.
- New accounts have limited features until a support requested is made to turn specific ones on. It would be useful to have an account page that tells you what is disabled so unpleasant surprises are not had at the pointy end of a deadline.
- Stackscripts would be better if it more info was transferred to the script. Eg the Linode Label given, plan requested, etc. But now I am just nit-picking
If you are a competent Linux user then these VMs are a good option. I have now switched all my webservices to a $5/mo Nanode and it is serving me well.
If you do not have the knowledge to install Apache and some internet security then possibly not the best option.
If you are a Blender user and want to rent an NVidia RTX 6000 (or 4) for a few hours then it is also a good option!

A good place to feel like you're in good hands
- Control panel is simple and easy to use
- They provide a good range of hosting services and options
- Response time is good in their support channels
- Initial configuration for email ports in servers is hard to manage, you need to open a ticket to handle it correctly
- Missing on-demand databases
- Missing on-demand datastores, like redis or memcache
- Stackscripts looks cool, but I'd like a curated list to trust
Thinking about cloud, Go for Linode.
- Linode is having very high uptime.
- Servers are very easy to configure and dashboard also user-friendly.
- Cost. Yeah it's very cheap and services is very nice.
- Multiple datacenters make it fast accessible to multiple locations.
- Sometime I felt that they need to increase their support, [needs] enhancement.
- All of the competitors [have the] same features like pricing and hourly pricing system. Should be improved. [...]
6 years later and [still using] Linode
- It's mostly up! When you use other providers you'll notice that [difference].
- The free hardware upgrade.
- Pricing.
- Never managed to get LongView to work.
- Easy Container-based server setups.
- Better UX in the panel.
If you are not into maintaining servers yourself when it comes to networking and security, you're better off with another vendor, but if you know what you're doing, there's no better option rather than Linode. [I've] tried many different vendors throughout the years but Linode is always my go-to option if the project scale allows.
Linode for nonprofits
- Easy to use Dashboard with readily accessible information.
- Strong support team that responds quickly to any and all issues.
- Versatile platform that can cater to the needs of any company.
- Steep learning curve for new users.
- Complex set of options that take time to understand.
- Some platform updates need explaining when first released.
- Amazing service- tickets are dealt with promptly, politely, and with positive resolutions.
- Reliable, easy to manage, and with superb value for money. Many services are charged by usage- e.g., I needed to enable backup while resolving an issue with our regular backup strategy. $5/month was very reasonable- but I only needed it for a few days. Happily surprised when the bill was only ~25 cents more because the $5 was prorated!
- Solid self-serve management options.
- One-click marketplace to deploy many popular web services.
- Good documentation.
- Availability of servers around the world.
- More documentation- I sometimes find myself finding answers on other virtual private server providers' websites.
Fast, simple, reliable.
- Fast.
- Simple.
- Reliable.
- No PostgreSQL as a service.
