Localytics is the platform we use for both our IOS and Android app. We primarily use it to send push notifications and manage our different audiences to trigger both push and email notifications. The usage data is used to monitor the growth of the app.
  • Push notifications
  • Flows
  • Audiences
  • Funnels
  • Navigation is confusing
  • Figuring out if events are firing correctly within the app
For the price and the features available, Localytics is one of the best options. It is more robust in areas that we don't need it to be and overall there could be simpler flows for sending push notifications or performing actions that you need to do every week. Also, the data it sends back on how push notifications perform is basically useless. There needs to be more explanation on the impact notifications have on users. The data would always say that notifications drove less engagement but we would see engagement go up every time we sent a notification.
  • We have seen an increase in usage by sending targeted push notifications.
  • For our purposes we don't need as many features as they offer.
  • We have an overall negative ROI from Localytics.
We have not used other products but are going to start exploring making a switch to a new platform.
It would take several weeks to hear back from the billing team. It took 3 months to resolve an invoice last year. Their technical support is very responsive. I would typically get a response in under 24 hrs.

We only use Localytic's analytic product within a number of our games. Their web interface provides an analytics self-service interface which allows product teams to answer many of their questions on their own without the need for SQL. This also allows them to refine their questions before they come to the data team with requests for more in-depth analyses.
One complaint is that Localytics has positioned their products more for e-commerce and other non-gaming apps. As a result, their SDK support has been lacking for our use in mobile gaming.
  • Great web interface which provides a couple of levels of pivoting and filtering of data
  • Straight-forward integration for simpler use cases
  • Access to raw data through S3 for use in your own data pipeline
  • Unity SDK plugin support is severely lacking
  • Mobile gaming apps do not seem to be a priority for their business
  • Development focus in the last couple of years has been on their marketing product over their analytics product
It is a great product for a smaller team to integrate into their app to start getting some in-depth analytics. The web interface is a great analytics tool without the need for writing SQL. Lack of Unity support makes it a lesser choice for mobile gaming. Like many third-party products, once data needs become substantial, the business will likely outgrow Localytics and will move towards an in-house solution.
  • Was our first provider of user-level event data
  • Allows for many users to easily answer their own questions before making requests of the data team
  • Raw data dumps gave the data team the ability to provide more in-depth analyses.

Localytics was used to measure app usage across all the apps for our business. We used to to measure engagement and content consumption, by device, by app type. It was being used by the analytics department and it helped us to measure what was performing well with the app and used it to guide insights into what should be improved or worked upon.
  • It has a simple interface that is easy to use and easy to teach non-analytics members of the company. It was fairly easy to access and digest information and the visualization capabilities were very good as well.
  • The implementation was not very heavy, which made it easier for the dev team to code, as well as fix and bugs that may arise.
  • The biggest thing I would like to see with Localytics is the capability for more correlations. The limited amount of correlations available does restrict the type of analyses that could be done with the data.
  • An easier interface to move data into Microsoft Excel would be very useful, rather than creating annoying workarounds.
  • More/better automatically scheduled reporting, as well as an Excel plug-in to access the data rather than being restricted to the Localytics interface.
It is a great for publisher's apps. Does a great job of measuring content consumption and engagement. Appropriate for both large scale and small scale companies.
  • Increased employee efficiency- it is an easy tool to learn and it gives valuable information.
  • Reduced dev costs- it is a fairly simple code for developers to load into an app. Also low cost compared to some big brands, such as Adobe
  • Quick processing time- was able to get data very quickly- did not have to endure a long lag time on data processing.
Also used Adobe Marketing Suite for App Measurement. This was useful because it can be correlated with on site usage. But it required a more depth implementation and is more expensive.
There is a lot of competition. I would renew if there isn't anything more exceptional that would justify the re-coding and implementation load costs.
