What is LogicMonitor?

LM Envision is a SaaS-based unified observability platform that enables digital enterprises to adopt a cloud-ready operating model for meeting key business demands. LM Envision provides clarity across hybrid enterprise IT, brings diverse IT and development teams together to solve complex problems, and enables IT to innovate faster while improving operational efficiency to the critical IT services they deliver.

LM Envision aims to offer an alternative to the tool sprawl that exists in many organizations today. By leveraging a platform that enables collection, analysis, contextualization insights and exploration of observability data across traditional and modern environments, it helps IT teams to remove the blind spots that come from siloed monitoring tools. And it enables IT teams to rally around a platform that offers a “single source of truth” to quickly triage and resolve problems, leverage AIOps to spot performance trends, and shift their time and investment from operation tasks to work that drives innovation for the enterprise.

LogicMonitor requires very little technical knowledge to get started. You can work your way into more technical details if you prefer so, but the product itself works out-of-box.

Very easy to pick up and learn how to use. And the training available is there for everyone and is well put together and very informative so everyone can become an LM Master! If you can't tell I would recommend LogicMonitor to anyone, it's so much easier to use than other platforms, like SolarWinds, WhatsUp gold, Zenoos, and SCOM to name a few.

LogicMonitor's overall usability is excellent. The breadth of LogicMonitor's capabilities necessitates a certain SME expertise that must be consulted for functionality. You will need to interact with the network, server, storage, and security team which may be difficult for someone who doesn't have a base-level understanding.

Overall, the usability is extremely good and the majority of users are able to teach themselves to use the platforms without extended assistance.

Once you have your dashboards set it is amazing. To get to that point can be overwhelming because the amount of customizations that can be added to the dashboards are quite extensive. This is a good thing as every customer cares about different metrics and information but at first glance it can be challenging.

The product is good on a few things it does but not great at everything. Adding in new data sources is a hit or miss and doesn't pull data properly all the time.

Set up is super easy. Just stand up a small Linux or Windows server to act as a collector. There are no agents to install on monitored devices and all you need is SNMP or WMI access. When creating dashboards, all you have to do is find the widget on the device you want to show up and choose the menu option to add it.

Our admins and engineers love the ease of use and flexibility of the platform as a whole. We have been able to scale as an organization and company without increasing engineering and admin headcount in this space which is a blessing. The team has never been happier or more productive!

Very easy to use once initial setup is complete. Interface is clean and if you set up product groupings and dynamic groups and dashboards it will improve your overall experience. LogicMonitor is the first item I check each day when I get into the office. It's clean and lets me see issues I need to address.

I have had a couple of issues getting something added and monitored the "exact" way that I have wanted to in the past. I feel like the last monitoring tool that I used (at a different organization) had an easier setup, with more capability.

It polls everything we need for our Windows server environment. We're able to make changes to the systems before problems occur based on the trends LogicMonitor is seeing.

After using the product for a week, I had a good understanding on how to leverage the product to fit the needs of my environment.

I like how robust it is, but with the robustness comes quite a learning curve in terms of sources, organization, and alerting. Once you get those down and understand them, it should be pretty quick to get the rest of your infrastructure into your LogicMonitor instance. The GUI is not the best. If you're not in LogicMonitor everyday, jumping back in and trying to remember how to navigate is a bit frustrating.

Overall, the management of the tool is really simple and intuitive. It can get a bit complex once you start tweaking and tuning data sources, setting up the "resources" and working with vCenter Proxy Monitoring using instances.

I would say LogicMonitor is very intuitive to use and lends itself to being able to be pulled up quickly in meetings to demonstrate analysis on the fly via screen sharing. Personally it has proven very useful in that way many times. There are a couple little tips and tricks to learn, but then you can really leverage most of the functionality very easily.
