For an entry level email marketing software, it's pretty decent. You will want to replace it with something more robust, like Klaviyo, as you reach scale. We still use Mailchimp for some of our ecommerce sites that we don't want affiliated with our main business in any way.
  • Fast setup.
  • Super intuitive to use.
  • Good price.
  • List management could be better.
  • The WYSIWYG in-app email editor isn't great.
  • Marketing automation triggers aren't robust.
There aren't any fancy email marketing automation triggers like some of the more robust software packages offer you; however, if you're a small shop running on Shopify and need something fast -- Mailchimp could work. There's a free trial or limited version you can use to see if it fits your operational needs.

I use Mailchimp for clients to send out their monthly newsletters. Works very well for clients that have less than 2000 subscribers since there's no extra cost for them.
  • Clean user interface
  • Easy integration with website for new subscribers
  • Clients love that it's free (for up to 2k subscribers)
  • Very strict with spam complaints - this can be good or bad. We have people that originally gave consent and then when they get the email, they'll hit the complaint button and we'll get dinged for that. If you get too many of these (I mean like even 5-6 of these) per mailing, they will shut down your account
Mailchimp (free version) is most suitable for independent freelance type of businesses as well as smaller businesses that have less than 2,000 subscribers on their mailing list. One does not need to be tech savvy as there is a nice drag and drop interface to build emails, though there is certainly the option to write your email in HTML code if one chooses.

We mainly work with WordPress websites, and to automate mail lists and send mails to customers we use Mailchimp on some of the websites.
Main reason, it's easy to connect with plugins and for smaller companies a real cheap (free) option.

By creating mail automations and using the right API connections you can automate some processes with Mailchimp, like product update's, order updates, etc.
  • Editor is really easy to make some fast email templates.
  • Plenty of email types, from auto responders to A/B testing it's all there.
  • Grown to a complete platform, so for free users you have everything to start with.
  • Reporting a bit behind, I find the information incomplete, I wish for some more editing room here.
  • Automations are incomplete, and not easy to setup. You have to get in to it.
  • Pricing can ramp up fast with more subs, if you go to higher price ranges then there are better tools on the market.
Depends on what you want in your email tool. Small websites, shops who want to get into mail marketing and try out multiple aspects of it. Then go for it! The setup is easy, it's free to x subs and you can play around with automation, responders, editors etc.

If you are going bigger and want to make more complex automations, more detailed reports and already have a big list of subs, then there are better options for you. On the other hand many of the bigger tools have a free option or a trial option. So if you are starting just go and play with it. Hint: make a short list with functions you REALLY want and some that are optional.

Mailchimp is being used by our organization to send mass emails to hundreds of thousands of people. We use it for ourselves and for our clients. It's one of the simplest email clients that you will come across and we typically recommend it to people who just use email as a campaign sending solution that doesn't need to react in too dynamic of a way.
  • Mass emailing
  • Deliverability
  • Easy drag and drop
  • Fairly inexpensive for smaller lists
  • Smarter dynamic drip campaigns
  • Wish it would allow for more list loading without verification
  • Wish it didn't have as many soft bounces to emails that we know are legit and signed up for our email list
If someone needs to send mass emails and guarantee deliverability, Mailchimp is an easy solution for that. If you have purchased lists from external sources, don't consider Mailchimp. They pride themselves on deliverability and won't let their servers get spammed by bad emails. Also they have easy to use drag and drop builders.

I've used Mailchimp primarily for clients. It serves as a great email repository system when integrating with landing page software. It solves the problem of collecting email address and storing them in a single system.
  • Tagging contacts
  • Audience segmentation
  • Form creation
  • Visual workflow builder (finally implemented recently)
  • Limited functionality with lists
  • Other than that, great beginner platform
For clients just starting their email marketing journey, I recommend Mailchimp. I haven't used it for more advanced clients or clients with larger lists. It's great for newsletter distribution and easy email design. I haven't used their visual workflow builder/automation, but glad to see they finally built that.

Mailchimp is being used by our Sales and Marketing team to do the marketing campaigns, email marketing, content creation, EDM and many more materials for marketing. This software helps us to generate the potential leads by running several marketing campaigns depending upon the segmentation, preferences, needs, and desires of the customer.
  • Email Marketing.
  • Content Creation.
  • Automation.
  • Reports Creation.
Mailchimp is [the] best software to do email marketing as it gives us a feature to create our own content with inbuilt templates which is easy to use with the drag and drop facility. We can create content and publish it in a very short span of time. Anyone can use it as it is easy to use and manage. No coding skills [are] required to generate landing pages and getting data from different sources.

We are using Mailchimp to communicate with our existing users about any product updates, news, maintenance etc. It's used primarily by Marketing, even for technical updates. Even on its free plan, it solves our need to communicate with our users at scale and in an automated way, without us having to use our transactional email services.
  • Ease of use
  • Templates and easily accessible lite advanced features
  • Affordable
  • Many people know how to use it, so it's easy to train someone to use it
  • I'd like to see some more advanced features, automations and dripping functionality
  • More email templates are always welcome
  • A little improvement on the design of the UI
Mailchimp is ideal for businesses that want an easy to use, free and quick to set up software, in order to mass communicate with their users or clients. It's also ideal to integrate with your website for visitors who want to sign up to your newsletter, since virtually every CMS has an integration with Mailchimp.

It might not be ideal to run NPS surveys or do advanced email marketing automations.

I manage Mailchimp for my clients that choose this email marketing tool. It's simple integration with Wordpress is generally the deciding factor when they choose this platform.
  • Easy to read analytic reports
  • Offers a variety of drag and drop templates that suits the needs for many users
  • A good choice for startups and non-profits working with limited budgets
  • Organization of lists/audiences
  • Offer simpler options to organize contacts at the time of upload
  • Increased contact limits for non-profits
For a micro organization, startups and non profits that have minimal skills in the area of email marketing Mailchimp is a good tool to build some skills. The easy to read analytics offer easy to understand audience insights. The pre-designed templates help create well structured content to increase open rates and conversions.

We create monthly newsletters on behalf of our marketing client. It is used by the Sales and Marketing department, not the entire company. It's a cost-effective way to communicate with both commercial and residential customers for the company. It was important to have an easy-to-use tool so in-house staff could be trained to use it in a short amount of time on an as needed basis.
  • Embedding video is a simple drag and drop
  • Adding a variety of layout blocks is simple
  • Customizing templates for company branding
  • Would love to have access to the html code
  • Don't have any other issues
If you are looking to have a simple, easy to learn tool for email marketing, Mailchimp is a good option. If you are looking to have a lot of control over the HTML of the email or any kind of marketing automation for triggered campaigns, it is less ideal. Content is easy to import and edit in the tool.

I use Mailchimp as an email marketing tool to send my email blasts to my customers. I also recommend and implement this for my clients as a way for them to market to their customers via email. It enables them to manage their customer lists and build and schedule their email blasts without the need for development.
  • Mailing List Management.
  • Offers Simple Templates for Clients that need them.
  • Fair pricing.
  • Good amount of features even with the free offering.
  • Easier implementation of forms - ie wordpress plugin availability and connection.
For smaller businesses which is the majority of my client base, this is an easy transition into a more robust email marketing campaign. It does not require a high level of technical knowledge but also provides extended features for those that are more skilled with code. The connection between their site forms and the mailing lists makes it much easier to manage customer lists.

I use [Mailchimp] to send email updates to a networking group of some 400 people primarily in the UK. All of them have provided me with [their] emails so I have permission to send it. I will send out a message every quarter or so but will sometimes use it more often if needed. It solves the problem of sending out key information in long-form compared to using Twitter or Slack. Being able to post a web version and use the URL link to the content is very useful. I also find that the updates on open rates and unsubscribe [are] very useful too.
  • Templates
  • Managing lists
  • Scheduling
  • Previewing of content
  • Formatting
  • Use of video
  • Use of more graphics
It is very well suited for sending emails to customers, I would not use it for running surveys I would choose Survey Monkey. It is very useful to track open rates and click through to a [website.] It is not great in creating short-form content or [creating] a video. It is also a little tricky to set a template up [and] introduce graphics but once you are set up it is very easy to use. The biggest [drawback] is [formatting] fonts, [which] is really fiddly.

I use Mailchimp for my clients. I set up their account and send out the campaigns on their behalf. It solves the business problem of creating and designing mass emails, handling email lists and subsequent email signup forms, and allows for great design customization so their emails fit their brand standards.
  • User interface--I think the platform itself is extremely easy to navigate and it's very pleasing to use
  • Design capabilities--it's extremely easy to build out campaigns and create templates
  • List management--uploading contacts, removing contacts, updating lists, etc.
  • Analytics--reviewing analytics is key to improving your email marketing campaigns
  • Uploading images and GIFs could be a little sleeker
  • I wish there were expanded choices for design elements such as fonts
  • It would be nice if the sign-up forms could be styled better
I think Mailchimp is well suited for any type of situation where you need to use an email marketing software to send out large-scale campaigns. It might not be suited for smaller campaigns that you could simply send out through a personal email. However, that would not allow for any analytics or custom designed email.

I used Mailchimp at my previous job for quite a number of years for event marketing communication to attendees, so it was an easy decision to also use it for the last four years in my own business as well. I use it to gather emails for my monthly newsletter and deliver my opt-ins and sales funnels. It is easy to integrate with my Squarespace site, so that also made it an easy decision. Overall, I like the layout and drag-and-drop features, and it helps that I have so much automated with email sequences. As a solopreneur, I have limited time and resources, and Mailchimp was a good email marketing tool to begin with in my new business.
  • Squarespace integration is very easy.
  • The free account makes it an easy decision to choose as I was getting my business off the ground.
  • Creating and sending emails is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I like the varied options to showcase my brand.
  • There are lots of templates and options to choose from for whatever type of email you need to send.
  • I live in Atlanta where they are HQ'd and I really like how involved they are in the community.
  • As they add more features, the interface gets bulky and hard to navigate. I sometimes forget where to find things or how to add new emails, etc.
  • With the new features, the pricing has increased significantly and I question the value for my own needs. I previously had a free account and then downgraded.
  • Email marketing is their core offering, but it seems clunky now that they have all their new features. I wish they would have focused on that before expanding into so many other areas.
  • In my opinion, adding automations is a difficult process and takes me much longer than it should.
  • I can't have one email list and also have multiple opt-ins, so I do a lot of manual maneuvering when new people are added.
  • The tagging feature needs improvement because it doesn't seem easy to use and update a bunch of people at once.
  • Email customer service isn't included with free plans.
  • I have selected that people must check options for email lists, GDPR, and that they won't receive the opt-in without them, but it doesn't look like that's happening.
Mailchimp is best suited for startups who need to bootstrap and for those with simple email marketing needs. Need a free tool? Go for it. Need to only send to one list and only have one opt-in? Proceed. Want an email marketing tool with lots of other add-ons and features? This could be for you.

However, I saw early on that it wouldn't grow with me. I know that very large companies use it, so I fully admit that there are probably things I don't understand or maybe am not using correctly. But the problem is that when they first started, they were easy to use and ahead of the curve. I loved it. But I feel like they've just become complex and bulky, though, as they add features. Why have I been with them for years and it seems to become harder to use?

Mailchimp has been used by the marketing and communication area of the company, in order to communicate to the users of our platform, but it is also used for internal communication of human resources. It helped us to increase user contact and to be able to monitor if they read us.
  • Campaign automation
  • User segmentation
  • Easy template design
  • Platform language
  • Easier integrations
  • Better form layouts
If you have an online store, or you have a landing page in which users have to go through different stages of your conversion funnel, Mailchimp will help you very well to be able to segment your funnel by stages and send specific communication campaigns. If, on the other hand, you only need non-mass mailing, you would not take advantage of the entire tool.

We use Mailchimp for sending automated emails after lead capture as well as for sending bulk emails to our contact list. Mailchimp is used by our marketing department but since we are a small business, this could be defined as a third of the company. Mailchimp thus solves the problem of effectively communicating with our audience via email.
  • Easy to use email builder to create good looking emails.
  • Capture leads from Facebook lead ads.
  • Keep track of audience segments using tags.
  • Mailchimp has a very simplistic and clean user interface but sometimes it's hard to find a specific setting.
  • It has loads of features in the free version but we quickly needed to upgrade to receive more automation functionality.
  • Is email really still the optimal way to communicate? Is it perhaps time to enter the instant messaging industry?
Awesome for a tech startup, any startup for that matter, who needs a free email provider to test the market and get to a minimum viable product without spending much on software as a service (SaaS) systems. Once the business is proved, it can go for a paid version and just keep growing.

The main area where we have used Mailchimp is for marketing via email. As well, have used it to allow people to subscribe to our newsletter and receive information and news from our website. We have also used it to generate quick landing pages that had allowed us to validate potential marketing campaigns or new designs in a quick way.
  • It simplifies the mailing list subscription process.
  • It allows you to have several lists, organizing your subscribers by interest, area, or any other category.
  • It allows [customizing] the information each one of your subscribers will receive depending on the mailing list [there] are subscribed and other useful filtering tools.
  • The template system may be tricky for starters.
  • The lists may get out of control easily if you are not careful enough.
  • At the start, it is hard to know what kind of subscribers are really useful for your business.
Mailchimp is great to handle automated emails, like marketing campaigns, newsletters, event invitations, etc. However, it is not the best choice to send emails from a website server or an app. They used to have a [separate] service for that called Mandrill but it was merged into Mailchimp and was never the same.

We use Mailchimp to reach our prospects, current clients, and customers. We are B2B and B2C, and as a result, have unique campaigns for each group. That being said, we use Mailchimp to send holiday emails, notifications of changes to our business, offers, as well as news/media releases. Mailchimp helps us to keep our unique contact groups structured, maintained, and managed. This is a great option for small businesses, or entrepreneurs just starting out-and has the flexibility for scaling. We like [its] templates, and, the ability to customize our own email layouts, headers, and more.
  • Manage contact list databases
  • Provide easy to edit templates for communications
  • Offers streamlined branding opportunities, even when reaching out to different segments
  • Keeps track of who/who is not interested in our services
  • Easy UI- a stronger drag and drop functionality would really help
  • Heavier training for non-technical users
Mailchimp is well suited for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. It is great for an organization that has a tech-savvy team member, in order to optimize [its] customizing features. I also like using it for smaller projects, campaigns, and news releases, due [to] its extensive tracking features. Lastly, Mailchimp's integrations are quite robust, and as a result, allow us to collect user information from multiple sources, including our web and social media.

As a consultant, it's my job, first and foremost, to find solutions for my clients that fit their needs. Mailchimp is one of those solutions. I use this service for many of my clients in both paid and free configurations. In one instance, I am using the free version for a nonprofit organization. We send out emails to the members to announce meetings, events, and other important things, and we use tagged groups to target specific members such as Board of Directors, non-members, potential members, etc. Mailchimp handles this very well.
  • Segmentation of the audience--a must-have since you won't always email everyone!
  • Ease of campaign creation--no design experience necessary; it uses blocks, so it's very easy to build an email. Also, tons of templates are available.
  • Integrations--this is the go-to for most website integrations, but it will also integrate into many ERPs, QuickBooks, etc.
  • The interface is not my favorite. It sometimes takes a minute to realize where a feature resides. This could be updated.
  • I'd like the free version to be unbranded, but I completely understand why it isn't.
This solution is well suited for nonprofits and startups--or any company with a tight budget that wants to use email as a method of communication in their business. The free level affords up to 2,500 emails per month, so for most small businesses, this should suffice. The paid plans are inexpensive compared to other solutions, so if you grow enough, moving up to a paid version shouldn't break the bank.

Our organization is a bulk food store that is fully non-profit. We used Mailchimp to send out weekly sales and information about upcoming events, products, etc. It was being used across our whole organization and was a nice way for us to keep all of our contacts, correspondence and notes together in one single place.
  • Audience management.
  • Customizable sign-up forms.
  • Campaign tracking.
  • Learning curve for building templates.
  • Being charged for tiers of audience members (even if they're duplicates).
  • Branding shows (in lowest tier).
Mailchimp is a wonderful email platform! We used it for several years and enjoyed many of the features it offered. In my opinion, Mailchimp is not great for smaller audiences because of the required branding that it puts on all correspondence and because of the caps it puts on number of contacts allowed. If you are planning to invest in the monthly plans and have a large enough audience, I would highly suggest it to keep your contacts and campaigns organized and easily accessible!

Mailchimp is currently my go-to option when setting up clients with a newsletter. The majority of my clients are twenty something who aren't tech savvy. They typically don't want their newsletters looking plain so being able to customize their emails, even on the free plan helps quite a bit. With a quick account setup process, they find it easy to get in and get started while I connect it to their new wordpress site.
  • Easy account setup.
  • Drag and drop newsletter building.
  • Painless connection to WordPress.
  • Perhaps a little more customization offerings for free tiered users.
It's suited for knowledge levels of all types, thanks to the ease of use and straightforward account portal. Making the account only takes seconds, and once you're logged in you pretty much know where you need to go within the [first] five minutes of use. The newsletter builder is drag and drop, so getting your first newsletter created from scratch isn't hard.

Mailchimp has been used as a means to manage and address our organization's audience. Whether that be general newsletters or specifically sanctioned surveys, the program is used to address key components of the organization while specifically being ran by our marketing department. With this in mind, Mailchimp addresses the problems of cohesive communication both horizontally across the organization.
  • Easy Learning Curve.
  • Stylish Interface.
  • Various Design Assets.
  • Limitations in Testing.
  • A Need for Reminders.
  • Lackluster Photo Editor.
Mailchimp is a great program when used in a small collective group. This is due to the fact that the limitations in the amount of test e-blasts becomes an extreme hurdle especially when multiple edits are coming from multiple editors right before a specific deadline. While this may seem like an occasional occurrence, it has happened on more than one occasion with our organization. With that said, outside of these instances, Mailchimp is rather smooth sailing in terms of routine newsletters and messaging.

  • Template management is also easy. Customizing templates for others to use is a great feature.
  • The reporting could be better. It was difficult to find the delivery results of a particular campaign.
If you're using Mailchimp for email subscription management, it's super easy to use / manage and embed the sign-up in your website.

We use Mailchimp to manage our mailing list and stay in touch with email subscribers. It is also the platform I usually recommend to clients.
  • Mailchimp provides the means for email recipients to easily opt out or manage their profile which makes it very easy to maintain a healthy and targeted list.
  • The Mailchimp dashboard show comprehensive statistics about the deliverability and open rates of emails. This feedback is essential when assessing the success of email campaigns.
  • Not only does Mailchimp provide a range of smart and well designed email templates you can use as the basis for campaigns, but it also makes it easy create custom templates to match company branding and corporate style.
  • As a developer using the Mailchimp API to integrate with web applications, it would be handy to have more technical detail available in the Mailchimp dashboard, such as the internal ID properties of lists, tags, etc. This used to be available via the Mailchimp API playground but this is no longer supported.
Mailchimp is very affordable as an email marketing platform for new or small businesses. The free tier supports a reasonable number of subscribers with the basic features, so great for running email campaigns on a very low or nonexistent budget,

Not only does my company use Mailchimp for our own email communications, but we also help manage and consult on its use by our clients. Its user-friendly and simple yet powerful features make it our first choice for email marketing. It also has an easy to use API and integrates seamlessly in our clients' Craft CMS websites.
  • Easy to use interface
  • Simple visual editing
  • Flexible interface for integrations
  • Recently added features like the website builder are less useful
  • Segmenting email lists can be confusing to users at first
Mailchimp is far and away the leader in simple, powerful, easy-to-use email marketing. It's perfect for small businesses and marketing teams who need to manage it in-house without the help of a development team.

We use Mailchimp for nearly all of our clients. We've looked into other mail services and have used multiple in the past, but nothing really competes with Mailchimp. Mailchimp is quite affordable (viz. free) for most of the small clients, and our larger clients still get a pretty good deal. As an agency, we have to deal with multiple accounts, and Mailchimp makes it very easy to switch between multiple accounts with just one user sign-in. This allows us to quickly navigate all the accounts we have access too, while also being able to silo off each individual client. (In the case we sign a new client who already has a Mailchimp account, or we no longer handle a client, it is easy for us to gain/delegate access without losing any data security or difficulty.)

  • Multiple Account Access
  • Templates
  • List and Segment Creation
  • Integration and APIs
  • Functions on all devices, Operating Systems, and Mail Clients with little to no custom coding.
  • Drag and Drop design interface
  • Transparent Billing
  • Scaled Pricing (price does go up quickly at scale)
  • The new interface is "clunkier" than the previous UI
  • Reporting could stand to be better (especially click heat map and send statistics)
Mailchimp is great for Agencies. Unless you have a very functional home-brew mail program, Mailchimp really can't be beat from an Agency perspective. By allowing access from one user account, you can quickly switch between your clients accounts, without having to store or remember a litany of passwords. Additionally, setting up separate accounts makes it easy to offboard clients (just grant them admin access and have them remove you as a user) and onboard new clients (just have them grant your access to their account). It also makes billing simple and will allow you to have invoices per client.

Mailchimp may not be the best option if you have a very large mailing list. Since the price scales up very quickly depending on the amount of subscribers you have, it may be best to go to a ESP that can handle the larger subscriber numbers. Especially if you sent to highly segmented lists, it would be better to be on a per-send payment as opposed to a per-subscriber system. While Mailchimp has great segmentation tools, if you're over 50,000 subs you might want to look elsewhere for a better deal.
