Mailchimp is a well known e-mail sending tool and generally it's the first choice for someone who is just beginning with email marketing or custom bulk emails. We have used Mailchimp for around two years for our various types of email marketing campaigns. It was used by our marketing departments to send promotional emails to our regular and non-regular subscribers. It helps us to promote our currently running campaigns with ease.
  • It offers a freemium plan, which is free up to a limited number of subscribers, generally 2000. Which is a good start for small organisations to begin with email marketing on a low budget.
  • It has one of the best custom email designing tool with lots of templates available, allowing us to design custom emails without wasting lots of time in the designing part.
  • It can easily handle large numbers of email receivers or subscribers (in their terminology). It helps medium and large organisations to stay away from chaos due to a large number of users.
  • Though it's free initially, for a large number of users its plans are so expensive. We have to burn our pockets if we have large numbers of subscribers to send marketing emails on a regular basis.
  • It still doesn't have perfect automation. Mailchimp has very good auto responders etc., but coming to automation part, it doesn't have required advanced automation.
  • The worst thing I found in Mailchimp is that emails sent via Mailchimp generally go directly in promotion tab of Gmail or even in spam sometimes. This affects the conversion ratio, as the conversion comes less than expected.
Mailchimp is very suitable for an organisation with a low marketing budget or that doesn't have much IT expertise. Small startups that are just beginning with their email marketing should go for it. Large organisations with a high budget or nice IT expertise should not go for it, as they have so many alternatives that can help them to reduce their time, energy and money spent.

We are a digital marketing agency that is divided into two different areas - video production and digital marketing. Mailchimp is our software of choice when we create complex digital marketing campaigns for our clients that include funnels and a mix of paid media and email marketing. For our landing pages we use Unbounce and With Unbounce’s Mailchimp integration, we can send our customers' newly acquired leads directly into their Mailchimp account.
  • Mailchimp can be easily integrated with Unbounce so leads can be sent directly into the Mailchimp account.
  • Templates are easy to customize even for non-coders.
  • We only use custom templates but the pre-made templates could have better design and more interesting layouts.
  • Integration with WordPress and the MailChimp plugin is not the best IMO.
Mailchimp is very well suited for any small or medium size business - we love the user interface and it's not difficult to learn.

This is a great solution to our email marketing needs for every department; although primarily used by our marketing department. It is easy to use, free, and professional. It offers embedding to websites, manual entry, sorting of information, and much more. And what’s better than the ROI being 100% (considering there is no cost).
  • Template designed email marketing
  • Ease of list management
  • Can be difficult to create first few campaigns
  • The disclosures section you have to include is annoying but necessary due to laws (not Mailchimp’s fault)
Mailchimp is perfect for any business - no cost, easy to use (once you learn it), and provides a great ROI if used properly. You have to actually use it though. There’s no point to having valuable email addresses if you are not going to effectively market to people. This is a pure gold marketing tool.

Mailchimp is currently being used in 2020 to send out valuable, free information to people who need help addressing daily life issues in work and personal life.
Mailchimp is valuable because it allows us to satisfy the problem of sending out the information once in a organized and creative way to all people at one time instead of sending one email at a time.
It is the best automation tool for sending out helpful information.
  • User friendly. Extremely easy to learn!
  • Pricing. It's free until your get your email list up which is very helpful for startups!
  • The templates are boring. Unless you are a designer or graphics artist, your emails will look very MailChimpish which makes the brain immediately say "Seen this before." which is totally what you DON'T want.
  • You can get suspended! If people keep say you are spam, even if they signed up and decided later they don't want it, you can get banned. Not fun.
Mailchimp is perfect for the startup! It helps so well getting you started and while the templates leave much to be desired, they encourage you to get more creative! 2k subscribers is a very fair amount to get started for free and then they begin charging is perfect for people just starting out. There are many videos and trainings available so you don't feel so overwhelmed. Excellent growth hacking tool!
Mailchimp also can help with social media scheduling. This is something that, as a company, we are going to work more with in 2020. They even now have websites in beta testing right now which is a fancy word for "We are working all the knots out and about to roll out something fantastic! Hold on!"

I have never personally experienced a situation where Mailchimp is not appropriate. It works well in small and large companies.

We use Mailchimp as both our own company email marketing platform and for many clients as well. It is really easy to get started, develop email campaigns, and generally manage contacts and lists. It's our go-to email marketing platform for new businesses and offers the path of least resistance for getting everything set up.
  • Email Marketing
  • Email Automation
  • Websites
  • Landing Pages
Mailchimp is our go-to recommendation for anyone just getting started with an email marketing platform. The interface is fairly straightforward and the service makes it easy to set up and start sending emails. Less developed are its auxiliary services such as landing pages, websites, and CRM which seem like they have some work to do to catch up with their competition.

Mailchimp is an incredible tool. We recommend it to all of our clients who are interested in contacting their customers using email for newsletters, coupons, flash sales and more! The new advancements to the Mailchimp system make it easy to use and more so, easy to understand the results of your email campaigns!
  • Easy subscription forms
  • Easy to use and design email templates
  • Design styling of elements off-site
  • Cost, who doesn’t love free?!
Mailchimp is a no brainer if you’re planning on using any email media for marketing! Great for subscription offers, coupons, eblast, newsletter, flash
sales, etc.

Our organization uses Mailchimp to communicate with our list of subscribers. We send three regular monthly emails [volunteer email, donor newsletter and general subscriber newsletter]. We also use it to send periodic appeals for funds. It is a simple platform to communicate with a wide variety of audiences for a wide variety of reasons. We are able to segment audiences into categories, and while I wish it was easier to segment into smaller sections, there are limitations to the ways it will connect with our CRM software. This has been our biggest headache.
  • Drag and Drop templates. It's easy to build an email.
  • Sign Up Forms
  • Some simple design features are unavailable [such as having an image behind text or wrapping text around an image]. We're often manipulating our wording to make sure the balance of text to image isn't weird looking.
  • The CRM integration that we use could be far more robust.
Honestly, as a small non-profit with a list under 5,000 subscribers, there aren't a ton of options within the price range of MailChimp that offer similar options. The other options are either too expensive or less functional. So while I'm not in love with Mailchimp as an product, I also haven't been able to find anything that I like better within a price range that is functional for a small non-profit.

We have been using Mailchimp as an organization for about five years, mostly by the communications department to reach our donors, volunteers, and other supporters of our mission. Mailchimp has helped us refine our marketing strategy and work towards getting our email list more invested and updated on what we’re doing on a frequent basis.
  • Design and templates are easy to manage and tweak to fit our messaging clearly.
  • Mailchimp makes it easy to schedule and see how often you send out email blasts to your lists to keep them engaged.
  • I found myself slightly frustrated by some of the design elements - some felt slightly clunky and I had to sift through some less than optimal design work.
  • I think the email address Add Contact form could be more streamlined.
I think Mailchimp is really great for the beginner business or nonprofit manager looking to engage and inspire an existing database. It’s so hard to share the stories of impact while simultaneously doing the work and Mailchimp helps streamline that process for people who have little to no graphic design training.

Mailchimp is used for bulk email marketing newsletters to email subscribers on our giveaways list. Mailchimp has a ton of API integrations and integrates with almost everything, but what we mainly need it for, which is integration with our ecommerce platform, Shopify. It used to integrate with Shopify, but in early 2019 there was some sort of disagreement between Mailchimp and Shopify, so they no longer work together.

We still use Mailchimp, but for our inactive subscribers and low quality score subscribers (like people that we've acquired through giveaways) since it's much cheaper than our new email service provider. However, since our email service provider is more robust, we have that integrated with Shopify.
  • Low cost email service provider
  • Tons of integrations with other 3rd-party applications and websites
  • Does not integrate with Shopify
  • Email deliverability can be a problem.
We still use Mailchimp, but for our inactive subscribers and low-quality score subscribers (like people that we've acquired through giveaways) since it's much cheaper than our new email service provider. However, since our email service provider is more robust, we have that integrated with Shopify. If budget is an issue, Mailchimp is a very cost-effective solution.

Mailchimp solves the problem of being able to keep in contact with my customers without too much leg work. Since most of my time is spent designing creative projects for my clients, I have very little time for self-promotion and updating my clients on what is happening in my company. Mailchimp is a vital tool in my administrative arsenal.
  • There are templates available that are easily customizable.
  • Updating and maintaining lists is easy.
  • I’d like to see some new templates added.
  • The process of getting rid of duplicates could be a bit simpler.
If you run a small business as I do, then Mailchimp is perfect. The free version does everything that I need it to do, and it’s scalable so when my business grows, it is ready to grow with me. I have not used it beyond a list of over 1000 contacts, so I can’t speak to how it performs for larger lists.

We use it for a few of our clients to schedule mailers, as well as design welcome onboarding packages. It is used by many people in our team and makes emailing a large segment of our audience a lot easier. It also helps us track data surrounding our email correspondence which is very useful.
  • Good layout
  • Strong editing setup
  • Feels a bit outdated
  • Needs a better editing system
It is suitable for small companies that want to optimize their communication with their audience, but don't have the budget for fancier and pricier platforms. However, if you have a large audience it is a little 'chunky' in its OS and you may struggle with the limitation of options.

I own a small local bakery. The majority of my resell and also customer communications happens in MailChimp. I am a huge advocate for digital communications especially since most people are on their phones or computer daily. It's so easy to confirm orders, reach out to customers, and even update them on new products being released.

Email marketing is a great way to engage with new or current customers and using MailChimp has made this very easy for me to do. MailChimp is perfect for my small operation. My customer base is smaller but what I love about the software is that my features are not limited. Usually, the basic software levels will skimp you on features but MailChimp does a good job of still offering you tool to do the most important email marketing tasks such as one-off email campaigns, email automation, building customer contact segments to send a targeted communication, and so much more. If you are a small business like me I recommend using MailChimp as an affordable solution for your email marketing needs.
  • Email campaigns - the template builder is easy to use and easy to customize.
  • Email Automation - This feature is also easy to set up and base off of a date, a segment, a list or much more.
  • Something that is different and I really enjoy is that MailChimp sign up forms ask for birthdays, and you can set up email automation based on birthdays. for someone who is trying to do customer appreciation, having a built-in birthday date or automation option is so great.
  • I wish their wordpress plugin form was better. It's really not as pretty as other forms.
  • The template builder can sometimes be a little wonky, delays or spacing issues
MailChimp is best suited for people who are waiting to communicate with their customer base on an automated level as well as on one-off basis. I wouldn't say that MailChimp should be used by someone who is just trying to email 3 or 4 people, like if they were trying to keep communication with their board members for a nonprofit. That would be the kind of task that could be accomplished in your personal email account. But if you were a nonprofit this would be a great way to reach out to donors and keep them up to speed with what is going on with your Org, how to get involved, etc.

We use Mailchimp to communicate with our growing subscriber list about the annual event our company promotes. We send campaigns for everything from information to promoting the sales of products. We've found Mailchimp to be easy to use and works really well for everything we need to do. The ability to schedule campaigns is especially great. We use it for our entire organization. It solves the problem of being able to easily send email blasts to our website users without needing extensive technical knowledge.
  • Managing audiences is easy and there are a lot of features such as groups, segments, and tags which are great for organization and targeting specific contacts.
  • The design capabilities of Mailchimp are great. Very simple and straight-forward.
  • I really like the ability to automate campaigns. This is especially helpful for new subscribers and lead generation.
  • I've found the process for accessing individual automation emails to be a little unintuitive.
  • Either I can't find it or it doesn't exist, but an easy way to resend a campaign to new subscribers would be great. I don't want to have to duplicate the campaign and send it out as a separate campaign.
I think Mailchimp is great for very small to very large companies. I've used the free account option for smaller businesses and a paid account for a larger business I own and it's great for both. Even in the free account version, you get tons of features and when you're ready to step it up you can easily switch to a paid account which has even more features and allows for larger subscriber lists.

Our agency has several clients who utilize Mailchimp. Primarily these clients (both B2B and B2C companies) utilize Mailchimp for regular newsletters with some using automation features based on user activity.
  • Ease of use, not a high learning curve.
  • Helpful guides.
  • I think automation features could have some more bells and whistles similar to more robust platforms out there.
  • Lead scoring features would be cool to see.
I think Mailchimp is really great for companies wishing to keep up newsletters and utilize some more basic automation features. For those who may be looking to streamline platforms a bit more to manage both communication and sales tracking in one place, I think there are better options out there, but as far as emailing is concerned I find Mailchimp to be the easiest platform to use with the lowest learning curve.

  • More robust features would be nice.
Mailchimp is a great email and marketing automation platform for small businesses. However, if you're looking for robust features, you should look at one of the other more expensive platforms.

Mailchimp is used mainly for 3 purposes. It is predominantly used for bi-weekly and monthly newsletters to different audience segments, using a pre-established template and regular A/B testing on subject lines and content. It is also used for automated customer onboarding and conversion funnels, as well as trialing new growth initiatives such as alerts and tailored content depending on audience interests.
  • Simple to use newsletter templates - Particularly helpful when junior/untrained staff need to feed in content with little or no knowledge of html or email design.
  • Simple to use automated email funnels - Particularly helpful again when staff members with little technical knowledge need to feed in content. Easy to implement with segments if they are set up well from the start.
  • Behavioral email marketing is harder to manage on Mailchimp.
  • Integration with other databases and managing unsubscribes across different mailing platforms is complicated.
Mailchimp is brilliant for simple email marketing (ie. regular newsletters to key audiences) and creating simple, linear, onboarding funnels (ie. sign-up flow and conversion). It is also a great tool for simple A/B testing of content and subject lines for your key audience segments and allows you to manage all subscribers in one place in a way that non-technical or junior staff can easily contribute content without knowledge of HTML or database management software. It is less appropriate for advanced segmentation, non-linear behavioral campaigns, and advanced analytics.

Mailchimp is a great solution for keeping in touch with our donors and supporters by email. We use Mailchimp to manage our mailing list database, and we also use it to send out quarterly newsletters, concert announcements, fundraiser asks, and other email communications we may need to share with our audiences. As the executive director, I am able to access our Mailchimp account, and I also manage another volunteer who is ultimately responsible for sending out the quarterly newsletters.
  • Contact management.
  • Subscriber quality - Making sure we aren't sending emails to fake or spam accounts.
  • For our needs, there aren't really any cons to Mailchimp.
Mailchimp is great for organizations that need a simple, all in one solution for managing email list subscribers and sharing basic email updates with a fan base or donor base. We love that we can see the open rate and analytics, so we can gauge which of our emails are most interesting to our supporters. We also like the ease that comes with using the built-in templates.

Mailchimp is used to send out weekly updates on theatre events, new releases, and offers. Our main list is consumers that have visited the theatre and signed up to receive these updates. This complements other online and offline promotional activities and the listings links straight to event booking pages.
  • Easy layout templates that make it easy to create a good visual impression.
  • Simple content editing with spellcheck.
  • Some challenges with cut and paste changing font styles.
Mailchimp is ideal for managing a GDPR compliant database and is an effective way of reaching customers beyond standard mail.

As a solo founder, I have used Mailchimp to manage subscriber lists and send emails to email subscribers, beta app users and customers of SaaS apps. In general sending emails has been relatively easy but creating and using custom forms has left much to be desired.
  • Design basic emails.
  • Set up basic settings for an outgoing email.
  • Creating custom form is painstaking.
  • Trying to use your own JavaScript with their API does not work.
Mailchimp could be best suited for those who have very simple needs. If you can collect email and user information through a basic medium that does not need to be deeply integrated and you are simply sending emails to the list of those that have subscribed, Mailchimp should work very well.

MailChimp is used by our marketing department in support of our curriculum team to send newsletters and follow-up emails to students. We are able to use MailChimp to communicate directly with those students who have asked us to contact them regarding new programs or programs they had requested. We also use MailChimp to follow up with students to ask them to complete feedback surveys regarding programs they have completed.
  • Easy to Import Contacts: MailChimp accepts a number of files and formats, so no matter where your contacts are currently, you'll likely be able to import them fairly quickly without much issue.
  • Customization options: There are templates to choose that can allow you to fairly easily make your design look like it's yours. If you happen to also have access to a graphic designer, then you can really take advantage of the customization options to make the design match your brand.
  • Analytics: Being able to review data points like open rates and click-thru has allowed us to improve our communications and reach more people.
  • Backend organization: I'm used to it now but initially it was very difficult to navigate the dashboard. I still get confused from time to time and have difficulty finding what I'm looking for. The organization just isn't very intuitive.
  • The payment structure and credit system are incredibly confusing. We use the free version but had at one point considered paying for the full version. We had difficulty understanding how many credits we needed and abandoned the idea.
We use the free option of MailChimp, which means some features aren't available to us. However, as a nonprofit organization, the ability to communicate with our learners directly for free means we are able to focus on our mission and not worry about the bottom line. I feel that the free version is incredibly robust and has almost all that we need. The only issue is that we are limited to sending 1,000 emails a day. This fits our needs and we've been able to work around this limitation; however, if you have a much larger contact list and are sending daily emails, then the free version wouldn't be for you.

I use Mailchimp to collect and manage email subscribers for my business. I create sign-up forms that are integrated on my website and email marketing campaigns.
  • Mailchimp has a nice sense of humour, they are a fun brand to work with.
  • The platform allows me to organize my email subscribers so that I know where they came from and their interests.
  • Mailchimp integrates with quite a few other major platforms which I also use.
  • The platform allows you to easily create email marketing campaigns that look professional.
  • When I first started, it was very difficult for me to use the platform. I did not understand all the basic concepts of email marketing and I felt overwhelmed.
If you have a business with email subscribers, this is a good platform to use even on the free plan. You will be able to manage your current subscribers, get new subscribers and create email marketing campaigns.

Mailchimp was used as our primary marketing vehicle. Any one-off promotions or campaigns designed to generate revenue were deployed through this platform by the email analyst. It mainly served as a way to keep our transnational, newsletter and marketing emails all separated in an effort to keep email deliverability as high as possible in those different realms.
  • Mailchimp Free - Mailchimp has a free option that is the absolute best option for businesses that are looking to dip their toe into marketing.
  • Easy-to-use - This is one of the more intuitive platforms to use.
  • Not as easily customizable as other platforms - This is kind of similar to Apple, where products are easy to use until you want to particular custom things that just aren't as easily made available as other platforms.
MailChimp absolutely has value for anyone looking to use it, but I'd highly recommend this for new businesses that are just starting to dip their toe into email marketing. If I had to guess, I'd imagine the majority of Mailchimp's users are smaller businesses, but I do think it would scale well.

We are using Mailchimp as our preferred tool for sales and marketing efforts. We currently love the automation process that you can achieve with its easy-to-use interface. We have made several emails to target our franchise leads so they can receive several emails throughout their life-cycle as leads.

Mailchimp also helps us to make on-the-fly emails with its easy-to-use template interface.

You can connect Mailchimp easily with Zapier or Integromat to automate your sales life cycle a little bit more .

Pretty cool application....we definitely recommend it.
  • Templates to create emails
  • Automation of sales cycle
  • Contacts importing and exporting
  • Email design, pretty user friendly interface
  • Contact management
  • Reporting
For sales and marketing departments that would like to automate their initial lead contacts and nurture their relationships in an automated way, this tool is awesome and pretty easy to use. We think that anybody in your marketing department would be delighted to use it since it is very easy to use and configure.

Mailchimp was used by my organization to create professional-looking emails for internal and external communications. We could reach out to customers/prospects after spending just minutes creating a full newsletter or pitch offer emails. The system is nice enough that even our least tech-savvy employees could figure out how to use the platform and our interns to make a clean end-product without any direction.
  • Clean user interface
  • Minimal learning curve
  • Deeper analytics
  • More default templates
Let’s say your salesperson goes out to a networking event and comes back with dozens of business cards. Within a few clicks that person can add those emails to a distribution list, create a clean introduction/follow up email, send and track opens to see if these targets are interacting with the email. You can do that with Mailchimp.

We use Mailchimp for our email blasts and to send out our e-newsletter. Our marketing and communications department uses it and not our whole organization.
  • Great basic email marketing.
  • Easy to use templates.
  • Poor integration with Salesforce.
  • Email deliverability.
I would recommend Mailchimp if you don't need a Salesforce integration. It is best for entry-level email marketing for small and medium businesses.
