Our organization has been using Mailchimp to send mass emails to our subscribers. It has allowed us to run automated and targeted email campaigns giving us more sales with very little effort. Mailchimp features beautifully designed email templates that can be quickly customized to fit any type of sales or marketing campaign. It has integrated features for advertising on Facebook and Instagram, retargeting ads, social media automation, and website design making it a complete digital marketing solution for any business. Mailchimp offers integration with 250+ applications, a full-featured mobile app, and an award-winning 24/7 support service.
  • Runs mass email campaigns, tracks delivery, and open and click-through rate
  • Grow and manage subscribers list, segment them with automated targeting
  • Offers a large collection of beautiful email templates suitable for all kinds of sales and marketing needs
  • Offers a generous free plan for starters with 2000 contacts and 10,000 emails per month
  • Mailchimp cannot be hosted on a private server. No guarantee of privacy.
  • The user experience can be improved to make workflow easier and faster.
Mailchimp is well suited for sending large volumes of targeted emails, growing and managing email contacts, tracking email delivery rates, and automating the whole process to grow business revenue. It is a software as a service platform, so you can't guarantee the privacy of your information, which makes it less appropriate where privacy is a primary concern.

Our agency uses Mailchimp primarily on behalf of clients as a way to maintain contact with their customer email lists, whether that means sending out newsletters, product updates, sales emails, loyalty club emails, or more.
  • The intuitive design user interface has a very short learning curve.
  • It is easy to upload email lists and segment them by attributes.
  • It offers metrics regarding email performance.
  • It could offer more autonomy over design of emails.
  • The same customer email address across multiple lists count multiple times, which may be potentially upping your monthly subscription fees.
  • It doesn't distribute emails to multiple lists at the same time.
Mailchimp is great for setting up recurring emails from your organization to set email lists. Once you create a template for your brand, you can easily pull it up to create variations of it. Another bonus of Mailchimp is that sign-up forms on webpages can integrate and auto-populate your email lists on your Mailchimp account. Similarly, your e-commerce store can integrate with Mailchimp so that emails have sales-related performance metrics connected to them.

We use Mailchimp exclusively for marketing purposes. Using the tags and audience features, we send targeted emails and newsletters to current clients, prospective clients, alumni clients, as well as service provider partners. Mailchimp also syncs with our CRM, which has been greatly beneficial for us to easily import any contact from our CRM directly into Mailchimp.
  • The UI is easy to understand (if you're relatively web-savvy).
  • The ability to import and edit subscribers is incredibly easy and fast.
  • The tracking metrics are detailed and simple to understand.
  • Tagging and audiences could be improved upon. While easy to workaround (if you have the brain for that), I do wish I was able to segment subscribers a bit better.
  • While I understand the pricing, I wish it were tiered differently. Getting penalized for being more successful and increasing your audience size is both a blessing and a curse. If anything, I wish the tiers were divided into more levels, allowing for someone to increase subscribers, but not have to pay a substantial amount more until they reach the next tier limit.
  • Marketing automations would be something worth developing more.
Maybe, it's due to lack of exposure to other types of services similar to Mailchimp, but, honestly, I think it's perfect for any growing business. I'm sure if I knew of any other platform, I might compare the perks of one vs the other, but since Mailchimp is all I've been exposed to, I have learned to work with it to maximize performance.

Mass Email Made Easy

Mailchimp is utilized by my company as the primary means to mass email customers and prospects various notices - whether support notifications of upcoming changes and outages, to announcing new products and trade show marketing material to prospects. Prior to this, these were emailed out from a single account in our system and the contact database was managed via Excel.
  • It is intuitive and easy to get going.
  • It does a great job managing contacts and allowing people to subscribe/unsubscribe.
  • The pricing model is budget-friendly.
  • Sometimes, there may be too much under the hood that can confuse administrators.
  • Sometimes, integrations with third-party services can be tricky or glitchy.
Mailchimp is ideal for small businesses to large businesses as its feature set and cost make it an appropriate first step for companies wanting to mass contact their base. The initial learning curve is very small, and there [are] enough added features and settings to take advantage of as a company grows. Those looking for tight integration with legacy platforms or very advanced features may need to look at other solutions.

We are currently using Mailchimp as part of a coalition effort to email a list of partners updates on a campaign we are working on, updates from partners, and toolkits they can use. We have also used it as part of our own list-building efforts, for newsletter updates, and for general education. Currently, we use it primarily to communicate news and updates internally as part of a coalition campaign effort.

  • Segmentation
  • Email design
  • Conditional formatting
  • Integration into other CRM services (particularly nonprofit services)
Mailchimp works well for email marketing. It provides great ease of use. It integrates well into some products, but because of its focus on email, it cannot replace an entire CRM, tracking membership, events, sales, advocacy, etc.

Mailchimp allows us to segment and communicate with our audiences efficiently and effectively. We can send targeted emails and newsletters, schedule one-to-ones, send targeted offers or follow-ups, and make them all look really nice, too. It's user-friendly and easy to understand after very little time with the tool itself.
  • Contact import
  • Contact segmenting/tagging
  • Drag and drop design
  • Scheduling features
  • Smart data
I think if you need a standalone email system that can work efficiently and look nice, then Mailchimp is a great solution. In the case where you need the analytics integrated with other tools, it may not be the best fit, but the data is still there to make it work as needed.

Currently, Mailchimp is used to provide newsletters and communication about products and services to customers and subscribers.
  • Organize subscriber information
  • Integrates with other applications/systems seamlessly
  • Offers several useful tools/marketing techniques
  • Customizable and scalable based on the user’s knowledge
  • The API toolkit could be a bit more applicable for non-tech/developers to use.
  • I would like more controls over customizable HTML features (font, colors, etc.).
Mailchimp is great to integrate with several major e-commerce sites (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.) and allows for easy capturing and organizing contact info to automate marketing strategies. Mailchimp would be a more attractive product if they could expand template options and offer more templates for more industries. They have a good base for fashion and blog audiences, but it would be even more attractive if they could expand to other industries.

Mailchimp is being used to send newsletter communications to our four different stakeholder groups for our non-profit organization. It allows us to communicate with large groups of stakeholders in an efficient manner, which would not be possible without the assistance of some sort of system.
  • Allow you to communicate in a similar fashion with multiple different stakeholder groups
  • Send timely and efficient communications to our audiences
  • Keep track of our mailing lists and update emails as people unsubscribe or are closed
  • Provide easy-to-use templates for our designers to work with
  • I'm not sure it always gets through the junk folders of our recipients.
  • Determining how to send the same or similar emails to different lists and audiences is sometimes confusing and leads to problems with emails being sent multiple times.
  • Better database integrations with the rest of our software platforms would be nice as it doesn't get updated when our database list gets updated.
  • The format is professional but looks similar to what you would see with emails sent by retailers or other D2C businesses.
It's easy to get started for small organizations because of the low cost of entry. Starting with a free account is a great way to get introduced to the software before upgrading to a version that allows you to use larger audiences, send more emails, and remove some of the advertising and other annoying features in the free version.

As an agency and marketing consultant, I advise clients on their choice for email marketing and marketing automation platforms. Mailchimp is typically being used for basic email marketing campaigns by many of our clients. Clients range from B2B to CPG and luxury goods. Mailchimp is easy to use and the templates are easy to set up and high quality. The reporting and segmenting features are also very strong. I like the integration with Facebook for very basic and simple campaigns. My biggest complaint is the platform support and ticketing system.
  • Email templates
  • Reporting
  • Segmenting
  • Deliverability
  • Customer support
  • Integration with email clients
  • Landing pages
Best suited for small businesses, basic email campaigns and newsletters. Businesses hat can not afford a dedicated resource and a DIY approach and want to get started for free or very limited budget. Not recommended for larger businesses or B2B with a Account Based Marketing strategy that need a tight integration to their lead generation team and salesforce.

We use Mailchimp for our main mailing list and other side projects. It's been a good solution for us that has been cheap and easy to use. We recommend it to most of our clients due to the widespread adoption of it and ease of setup on other websites and integrations into other platforms.
  • Cheap for newer businesses
  • Easy to use and setup
  • Integrates with almost any platform or service
  • In my opinion, they don't make it easy to segment and organize your audience.
  • I feel like the navigation of their backend is always frustrating.
  • Beyond the very basics, most of my clients find it hard to use.
If you are not that serious about email marketing or need something easy and quick to set up, that integrates with a lot of services and platforms, Mailchimp is a great solution for you. If you're wanting to segment your audience and do more with your email list, then there are better recommendations. We've been long-time Mailchimp users and recommend them to almost all new businesses to start unless you have a large email list or need a more complex setup from the beginning.

We are using Mailchimp to send weekly work-from-home updates about our work. We usually include a tip, a piece of good news, and some more relevant weekly items. We are slowly putting together an automated drip campaign that will bring a new audience to our services.
  • Ease of use
  • Templates for building emails
  • Import/export of addresses
  • Helps make sure we are compliant with all new email regulations
  • The UI recently changed, causing some confusion.
  • In my opinion, there are not enough social share options.
If you want to send mass emails, newsletters, announcements, and more, then Mailchimp is the tool. With easy integrations from other sources, such as Leadpages, you can easily collect emails to mail to. Mailchimp also keeps you from being put on spam lists by ensuring all the recipients' addresses are clean and opt-in.

Mailchimp is one of our main outbound marketing channels. We use it to send a weekly newsletter out about goings-on at our company to over 3500 people. It solves the problem of updating all customers on new features and products at our company as we have a very large customer base so it means we can reach out at scale.
  • Build good-looking emails for send-outs
  • Segmentation
  • Incredibly easy to use
  • Visibility across your database can be clunky.
  • The search function was frustrating.
  • More features to make your emails look even better would be good.
Any marketer with a larger customer base will find Mailchimp a really useful tool. It's the best way to mass update your client base on what's happening at your business. Add in segmentation and then you can really nail down what you're sending out and make sure the relevant info gets to the relevant customer.

I work for a small company and I am basically the marketing department. I consult with others as well, but I basically run the department. We use it to create email marketing campaigns that we run pretty frequently. I create campaigns about twice a week and then run all the metrics back for our company. I, then, upload all that data into Salesforce and inform our salespeople of who to contact and who [...] not [to] contact. We use it when we need to mass market to a bunch of different people or organizations.
  • Reporting
  • Extremely customizable
  • Extreme ROI
  • Customer service could be a bit better.
  • It could have a better customer tracker.
  • It could allow for increasing the number of sendable emails.
I would use it anytime you would need to send out mass email marketing campaigns to people. You can use A/B testing and segment out extremely well to get it very honed in for specific recipients. It has great tracking capability and will give you insight into where you might potentially be able [to] extract more value. I wouldn't use it for the most sophisticated email campaigns, but they definitely get the job done.

We use Mailchimp to communicate with current and future HOA residents.
  • It is very easy to import subscriber/contact information.
  • There are a variety of templates and the option to import your own.
  • Overall, the ease of use is great.
  • Some of our recipients report unintentionally unsubscribing, so it would be helpful to offer a proactive report to the admin so that they can verify with subscribers.
  • We consistently experience challenges with formatting text in the editor and have to send/resend test messages to ensure that formatting appears correctly in the message received by subscribers. We are not sure if this is related to the use of copy-paste. It would be helpful to be able to set a theme and have all edits and additions of content format to match the theme.
  • Gmail users report being unable to find our messages in their main inbox. It would be helpful to be able to provide Gmail users with directions to mark messages from us as desired so that they appear in the inbox.
Overall, we find Mailchimp to be an incredibly valuable tool for our small organization. After reviewing the other vendors offering similar services, we chose Mailchimp for its easy onboarding and ease of use. Although we do not use all of the data and tools available now, we appreciate that they are available when needed.

Mailchimp is being used in our Customer Success & Experience teams. It's used for email communication to our fans.
  • Efficient
  • Easy to use
  • Stable access
  • Better integrations with other platforms
  • More detailed reporting
  • Improved email search functionality
Our team uses it and [has] found it very beneficial to use. It's extremely efficient and easy to pick up on using. We mostly use it to send and resend email confirmations to fans who have purchased tickets. For the most part, the search function works; however, I wish it was more improved. It's harder to search for something when it's not within the specific date range provided.

We used Mailchimp for ad hoc/one-off email marketing campaigns, outside of our main CRM/automation system. It is currently being used by the digital department, for regular contact with one of our B2B subscriber lists. There is no doubt that Mailchimp is one of the most user-friendly (if not the most user-friendly) mailing systems out there on the market. All kinds of emails can be created with real ease, and once you get the hang of it, email jobs can be completed in no time whatsoever.
  • The drag and drop email editor is intuitive and really easy to use.
  • It also has the ability to create more advanced email marketing.
  • The analytics are quite good and presented in a way that can be taken out of the tool and presented externally.
  • Lately, it has become harder to import new data (without having to demonstrated consent) which isn't always possible.
  • Adding custom merge tags/fields isn't possible when creating templates, which can create confusion.
  • Templates are basic (but in my opinion basic emails perform the best).
  • Integrations with CRMs available, but most marketers want CRM and email marketing to be built into one tool.
The integrations that are available between it and other common third-party tools - such as CRMs, marketing automation systems, CMSs, and even payment portals/e-commerce sites - aren't great, and attempting to integrate them just wouldn't be viable in the long term. Mailchimp excels for basic email marketing - anything else is better handled with a more all-rounded tool (which, of course, costs far more than even some of the paid subscriptions to Mailchimp). However, if colleagues/clients were looking to build emails lists and create simple email marketing communications on a budget, then I would recommend Mailchimp every time.

I used Mailchimp for several years while I was growing my audience as a blogger and YouTuber. The free tier made it easy to get started when I didn't have a large audience. It was simple enough to use but gave me more powerful features (like audience segmentation) as my email list grew.
  • Generous free tier
  • Useful audience segmentation tools
  • Simple interface
  • The automation features are inferior to ConvertKit.
  • The interface feels slightly clunky.
  • It can become expensive with audience growth.
Mailchimp is great for content creators, writers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs wanting to grow an email list. The free tier makes it easy to start with no cost, but Mailchimp has powerful segmentation and automation features that can satisfy any level of a company—all the way up to global corporate brands.

We needed a program to send transactional emails from our systems, such as password recovery, notifications, and others. We looked for Mailchimp, initially, by cost and decided to test the free version.
  • Good dashboard
  • Good metrics
  • Good template system
  • The free tier has a lot of blacklisted IPs.
To be honest, Mailchimp is a good platform for sending transactional or bulk emails. As it happens, outside the scenarios that use dedicated IPs, you might fall a lot into blocks and if your emails reach their destination, there are high chances of you falling into the spam box. There is the possibility of hiring dedicated IPs, but this requires a higher cost and dedication to keep your IP in good standing.

It is used as a newsletter marketing tool to send dedicated emails to clients.
  • [I believe] Mailchimp doesn't do anything particularly well.
  • [in my opinion,] Mailchimp could improve on basically everything. I think it's seriously complicated to use.
  • In my experience, the tagging facility doesn't appear to work and all my imported contacts were tagged multiple times with multiple different tags. I feel that the remove tag options are limited and selecting an audience based on the tags is virtually impossible.
  • I believe it should be simple to send one client an email, but with Mailchimp, I would spend two to three hours trying to figure out how to send one person one email because the categories, audience, and tagging are just faulty and awkward. In the end, I usually give up and phone the client, which is probably better, but, geez, it's a pain in my opinion.
  • The silly icons that you have to use instead of words could be improved because you don't know what icon means what and getting from one section to another makes no sense in my opinion.
  • Now, I understand why emails I receive from others who use Mailchimp usually look average. In my opinion, it's because it's a dog of a system.
[In my experience,] it is difficult to use and makes no sense in the way it's laid out. I believe there is nothing intuitive or easy about it and the help guides are useless and don't seem to work in my opinion.

We use it to send eblasts to our various market sectors on a bi-monthly basis. It allows us to have continual touches with potential prospects as well as current clients. We need to continually communicate with our current clients and priority prospects. We want them to recognize us as industry thought leaders.
  • Easy to use.
  • Stores many contacts.
  • Interface is clean.
  • Interface keeps changing.
  • Pricing goes up with number of contacts.
  • Doesn't connect to Cosential.
It is well suited to companies that don't have a native mailing app within their CRM or customer relationship management system. It seems to be geared towards smaller to mid sized organizations. Mailchimp is used within three departments in our company. Its widely used for our contact forms, saving leads/contact and mass mailing our subscribers. The biggest problem it solves is the integration with Salesforce. This helps us to add leads into Salesforce whenever a new contact is added into Mailchimp.
  • The interface is simple and customizable
  • The analytics are very detailed
  • Good support team
  • Detailed guides available to help you do almost anything
  • Setting up automated emails can get difficult
  • Pricing is on the higher side
  • Some landing page and contact form designs are too restrictive
Mailchimp is well suited to organize your contacts and mass mail them easily, plus [it's] easy to integrate it on your website. For beginners, it can get a little difficult as the user interface isn't really friendly and you need to keep on looking at the guides again and again.

We use Mailchimp with multiple clients to manage their email campaigns, some landing pages, and even have it connected to a few woocommerce stores. As an agency owner, I love the fact that I can switch between multiple clients from a single login, and I know that the product will deliver on his promise. Mailchimp allows us to create engaging emails and schedule them ahead of time for clients.
  • Tons of integrations
  • User-friendly email builder
  • Would love to see a visual automation builder
  • Need the ability for users on a current list to have updated tags without creating a new list when sending via zapier or WordPress
Mailchimp is a great email campaign platform for anyone starting out, and also for agencies who need to manage multiple early stage clients. Once you get into more complicated automation, you may need to look for more developed solutions. If you need beautiful emails and an easy user interface, this is the place to go.

I use Mailchimp for capturing leads that want to be subscribed to my newsletter. This popup appears only on blog posts and that is the only place I get the leads from that I email through Mailchimp. So as you can see, it serves a niche purpose and is only a segment of my target audience.
  • Nice UI
  • Simple
  • Well-known product
  • The free version feels limited.
  • The paid version costs a bit much for what you get.
  • It seems like some competitors may be gaining steam on them, so it may not feel worth it to get into a paid plan necessarily.
Anecdotally speaking, the free version of Mailchimp is best suited for small businesses or websites just getting started that need a way to manage their email newsletters to a small number of subscribers. Also, if you have a use case like mine where it's a really targeted segment that you may not use for all your marketing communication, it seems to fill this niche as well.
