We use it for email blasts. We are an auction house that sells online primarily. We like to email our clients before an auction to let them know what kind of items will be featured at auction. We also use it to let our customers know that we are accepting consignments.
  • email blasts
  • contact record keeping
  • dashboard interface is easy to use
  • I wish that if we want to tag a group of people, it won't exclude them if they were already contacts. We have the same customers purchase in multiple auctions
  • more templates that are widely applicable for various types of businesses (for instance, there have been templates I'd like to use, but they were SPECIFICALLY geared towards men's clothing or something like that)
  • easier IT troubleshooting navigation, such as, certain clients not receiving our emails blasts from Mailchimp because of their, what I call, "old-people email spam blocks." They don't even know their email blocks incoming emails from us much less how to fix it.
It's pricing is comparable to other companies we have either used or researched using. I love how easy it is to put together an email blast and to be able to come back to that template and edit it for future use. It is a great way to invest in marketing for your small business.

We used Mailchimp for email marketing over several years.
  • Getting signed up is easy
  • Has good templates out of the box
  • Designing custom templates
  • Navigating the account
Mailchimp is a great email marketing tool. Our issues with the platform relate to how difficult it is to close your account when ready. Not only is there not a clear way to cancel your account, you cannot close your account if you have contacts in the platform even if you are not sending emails. In my experience, customer support is not helpful when you are trying to close your account. There was very little documentation on how to close the account and what was required to close the account.

We're a market research organization who uses Mailchimp to communicate with our database of research participants. We send out updates concerning new or upcoming research projects, we send out newsletters and information update requests. We often use outside software for our surveys but when they are not complicated, we'll launch surveys within the platform and then use the reporting capabilities within Mailchimp.
  • Mailchimp makes it easy to maintain a clean database.
  • It's very user-friendly for designing campaigns.
  • It's easy to link email campaigns to social media campaigns.
  • Address field should be optional. You should be allowed to enter just a city or zip code and not have to enter a character for every possible field.
  • Training and help videos would be nice.
  • Less prompting to upgrade your account.
Mailchimp is well suited to staying in contact with a database of people who have opted in to receiving communication from you. It is not well suited to cold email outreach.

We often need to send out email messages to large groups of recipients. When we've attempted to do this through Outlook or Gmail we've run into problem with server limits. Mailchimp solves this problem and makes the mass emailing process easy. Emails we generate through Mailchimp are also far more visually appealing than those we've made via other platforms.
  • Use of merge tags for message personalization
  • Scheduling messages ahead of time
  • Creating visually appealing messages
  • Modifying the fields in the message footers could be more intuitive
  • Help tips when hovering over various settings would be helpful
Mailchimp is great for sending messages to many recipients at once without overburdening your mail server or risking damaging your domain reputation due to overzealous spam filters. The merge tags feature allows us to personalize and customize each message in many ways. The ability to schedule messages well ahead of time is a huge plus.

As a marketing coordinator I use Mailchimp to send out EDM's to our clients and data base of agents. This could be on topics such as new projects, current H&L offerings, promotions and general news letters. I like the drag and drop function when building emails and how easy it is to pick a segment to send to. It can be a bit glitchy when copying in large blocks of text from another source but it is fairly easy to work around.
  • Easy overview of campaign results
  • Drag and drop function to build EDM's
  • Easy to invite others from your company to create their own profiles and collaborate
  • Great overview of campaigns in the campaign calendar
  • Formatting pasted text from another source when building an EDM can be glitchy. I currently have to reformat the whole block of text to something else completely and then back to the font and point size I want.
  • The line/space block in EDM builder isn't reliable. I always have to send many test emails to myself to check how big the space is between modules and adjust then send again.
  • The landing page builder is good but sometimes hard to get right in terms of size of images and spacing. Especially the footer.
It's a great tool for someone just starting out, either as a beginner in marketing or for a small business. There are so many great reading resources on Mailchimp's own web page that teaches you about Mailchimp itself and also general marketing. Even if you are just on a free plan you can take advantage of the many educational articles.

I use Mailchimp with some of my website/startup projects because of its generous free plan. It gives me plenty of space to build up my email lists before committing to a plan. It's easy to use, and the dashboards and user interfaces are super easy to use for marketers or even those brand-new to email marketing.

As of now, we use Mailchimp for its list management, signup forms, welcome emails, and basic newsletters.
  • Easy to use
  • Generous free plan
  • Pretty campaigns and templates
  • Too many features
  • Scope far beyond email marketing
  • Pricey for small campaigns
Mailchimp is perfect for small businesses that want to scale their email lists and get started with email marketing. However, it tries hard to be a one-stop-shop for everything, but it really only does email marketing exceptionally well—the rest is "meh," which means it really should just be an email tool, and you'll need to use other tools to supplement the rest of your marketing needs.

We use Mailchimp to send out mass communication. We also build email templates that we are able to operate as blogs with the HTML code!
  • Communicate to Mass Audiences.
  • Email Templates have multiple purposes.
  • Drip Campaigns.
  • Speed up their website/upgrade their server.
Mailchimp has a very user-friendly layout. It is easy (even for a beginner) to get and design emails, build drip campaigns, etc. It has a very easy sorting system with folders, so you can categorize emails that have gone out, which is super convenient for going back to see how something did before replicating it.

We are utilizing Mailchimp as a way to communicate with our donors during the fundraising process. It is essential for us to be able to reach out, share about our project, and give ways for the community to support our mission.
  • Formatting
  • Linking to our websites.
  • User friendly.
  • I have not found many issues.

Mailchimp has given a significant boost to our customer engagement and brand awareness. It is terribly amazing with its powerful analytics & well- designed templates that are also optimised for mobile devices. It has substantially helped us to strategise & fast track our email marketing approach. The email builder allows us to drag & drop the elements, themes, text and create unique & and relevant mailers in a professional style.
  • Free to use
  • Robust Automation
  • Simple Interface
  • Detailed Analytics
  • Customer Segmentation
  • Limitation on advanced features in free plan
  • Lacking customer support
  • Learning curve
With Mailchimp we are able to revive and enhance our personal connect with the customers. The easy-to-use tools allows us to personalize the email content, segregate and target important leads & send relevant messages. Also, it offers interactive analysis on the performance of a particular campaign. We can judge the effectiveness of our mailers in real time.

Mailchimp is mostly used for massive edm campaigns. It's the most cost effective tool for us when sending over 5k emails at once.
The drag and drop modules allows our team to work on different comms at the same time, without having to rely on a specific design or having to wait for someone to code it.
  • Drag and drop module
  • Audience management
  • Marketing automations
  • Landing design module could be more complete. It's very limited.
  • The Sales tool is good for very small businesses
  • The reporting could be more complete
It's a great tool for anyone who needs to start with marketing email campaigns and automations. The predictive segmentation comes very handy when foerst starting to know your audience. Customer support is great and are willing to help anytime.

We can deliver mail with our design to a database that we can filter into different audiences.
  • easily integrates HTML design we have created
  • custom templates saving

  • segmentation
  • Contact import from CVS or Excel files as fields don't match that easily
  • Add features for free or low-price plans

Mailchimp is a fine email marketing platform if you want to implement simple email marketing. Things like simple newsletters or basic autoresponders. As soon as you start getting into more complex automation, Mailchimp is lacking. The journey builder doesn't have enough branching ability or trigger abilities, and the automation that can be built is relatively basic.
  • Email Marketing.
  • Auto-Responders.
  • Integration
  • Automation Journeys.
  • Attribution Tracking.
Mailchimp is a great tool for basic email marketing. It is affordable and doesn't break the bank. For small businesses that are simply looking to send a monthly newsletter, Mailchimp is a great option. For anyone looking for a more integrated tech stack solution, there are better tools out there.

We publish two weekly newsletters that we fulfill through MailChimp. The list management functions work perfectly fine. People are to sign up or change their preferences without issue. We never get non-delivery complaints, and that's a big deal.

Mailchimp is a rock-solid performer in the basic functions of getting a newsletter into subscriber email boxes, which is all we use it for, and that's why we haven't really considered alternatives in so long.
  • Basic contact management
  • Fulfillment
  • Basic, one-click poll functions
  • The interface remains a cluttered, non-intuitive mess. That's true from the haphazard way features are organized to the actual email layout.
  • Analytics have never been a priority, and I don't see that changing with Intuit's new ownership. I'm very frustrated over the limited choices for reporting, even when using third-party solutions. If I needed that function, I would not use MailChimp.
  • I would love to develop a workflow screen that lets me focus on the things that I use all the time. Customizing the interface where the content actually goes into the software would help.
  • I never understood why we couldn't import a document into a MC template. At best, we're spending time copying-and-pasting from one app into MC.
Content heavy newsletters like ours that run 750-1,000 words seem more suited to other, new platforms. Everything from the way that onboard hints try to cut wordcount to the editing pane and email layout being two separate items makes using MC difficult.

Integrating with top companies in different space would be a no-brainer. When I briefly tried one of MC's competitors, I was stunned to see it offer a one-click import into WordPress. Automatically publishing to social media would also be a nice benefit.

I use Mailchimp for e-newsletters to keep in touch with customers. Also used to promote upcoming events and special contests. Need to keep top of mind and share info about new things with our list of past customers and those that just signed up for more details. Also reminders that an event is coming up soon.
  • Templates make it easy to copy last email campaign and edit
  • Helpful to be able to resend last campaign to people that signed up after that
  • Editing the templates is easy to do
  • Sometime the photos don't show up correctly
  • Some metrics that would be helpful are in higher paid tiers, irritating to see suggestions then they don't show until you pay more (title suggestions)
Good place for businesses new to email marketing to start. Easy to grow your list and add more. Gives you some stats on open rates, etc. Easier to use with templates for the less tech-savvy

We use Mailchimp to send community newsletters and marketing related materials (non business docs). It works well for us because it is a light lift in training, allows us to connect other products that we use and we can easily send out nice looking pieces. We really needed a product that our volunteer board could use to engage with our members and encourage involvement in events like parties and get togethers but also work to set up things like neighborhood clean up days.
  • Manage mail lists, opt ins and opt outs
  • Provide basic deliverability reporting and allow for resends
  • Is really easy to train a basic user
  • There isn't a lot of flexibility in templates - so sometimes we have to be creative to make them work
Mailchimp is ideal for a small non profit or a small business just getting started. It lets you reach your audience and stay within the parameters of compliance (which many aren't aware exists). However if you are really interested in getting into the weeds and using things like audience segmentation, variable content, lead journeys etc - you need to either invest in a higher level version of MC or look at alternative products. Email Marketing Matters!

We are using Mailchimp for email marketing and website automation. Using its drag and drop editor, the marketing team and the customer teams are able to quickly create responsive email designs and then blast it to the relevant audience by quickly uploading database of audience emails into the platform. The platform is very easy to use and offers deep analytics capabilities. Similarly, we use it to create landing pages for the campaigns and test and analyse their performance.
  • Responsive Email Design
  • Email marketing and analytics
  • Webpages creation
  • Database management and cleaning
  • Form management
  • Customer support is not at all active
Very well suited to quickly create and launch new email campaigns, build responsive designs and test them. It is also very easy to build pages and start active campaigns to generate more buzz and leads.

I use Mailchimp as my primary email marketing tool. For small business startups it may not be possible or within the budget to invest in email marketing when they are not confident of the ROI. Three plan of Mailchimp addresses this specific problem where users can start free and pay as and when they grow bigger. Mailchimp let's me integrate a mailing list on my website where I collect email addresses and then send our newsletters to those who would like to follow my business.
  • Mailchimp allows you to manage your mailing list really well. You can subscribe people, unsubscribe people manage the mailing list directly into segments, and what not.
  • Mailchimp has features where you can create campaigns based on your mailing lists and send out newsletters to your subscribers based on a multitude of parameters that you can setup. Such as send email daily, weekly, monthly and they also have event based mails that you can send out.
  • Mailchimp also has a feature where you can design your emails. The look and aesthetics are very important when sending emails to your subscribers and all those needs are addressed here.
  • I have not faced any issues with Mailchimp recently. But, when I just started out with them the main issue that I had faced was that they simply banned my account thinking that I was a spammer. I could not get in touch with them and there was no way that I could have my business email which I had purchased up and working with them. I am not sure whether this should be categorized as a negative point but nevertheless, I thought I'd mention it.
  • Another area where Mailchimp could improve is that they don't have a good plugin for WordPress. We need to rely on third party shady plugins which do a better job and at the end of the day, this is not good practice considering website security.
  • Lastly, they are now getting into all sorts of other features such as CRM and what not, they are not keeping things focused and simple. They could improve in this area by making the portal a little more intuitive of the added capabilities of the platform.
Well for me Mailchimp is the go to email marketing tool. If you are a startup business looking to get into email marketing and you have a mailing list with less than 2000 subscribers, it it a great place to start. You could however look at the capabilities of other service providers in case you have a much bigger mailing list. Having said that one important reason why I would recommend Mailchimp over many other service providers is their policy on spam. They maintain things so that everything works as expected for the genuine businesses that just want to connect with their subscribers genuinely.

Our company’s marketing professionals use Mailchimp to send out email campaigns, mostly for cold outreach and feature updates. we also use it to send out quizlets and interactive standalone modules which we have integrated with outside platforms for. since the primary users are non-technical they tend to rely on myself as a technical assistant for getting automation and integration stuff set up.
  • campaign management
  • access control
  • content development
  • automated workflows
  • confusing UI
  • KPI visibility
Mailchimp is better for more vanilla marketing campaigns which don’t require much special logic or business requirements. for more complex workflows i would recommend another tool.

We have implemented MailChimp for many clients who aren't yet ready for a full-on CRM. The core functionality in terms of email marketing, basic list segmentation and basic functionality makes it an ideal starter system for clients, or for those who don't need a really robust suite of tools. What is there is fully functional and user-friendly.
  • Easy to create attractive mailers within a relatively simple framework
  • Basic automations are extremely easy to create
  • Quite user-friendly for people who have limited marketing experience
  • Easy search functionality and basic segmentation
  • Though easy to create, it's difficult to create truly customized mailers unless you're uploading HTML which is too fiddly
  • The email reporting isn't particularly robust
  • There are loads of features, but other email marketing and automation platforms do them better
  • The pricing can be a bit deceptive, and become steep very quickly
  • Not very intuitive
As mentioned previously, MailChimp is great for people with small databases and ecommerce stores who are just getting into email marketing. For people who need a larger database or a more robust set of tools, there are better options out there. While user-friendly, there are some things that are hard to find or unintuitively placed within the menus which can make it challenging to get the full benefit of your plan. Definitely a great first platform.

Engaging our clients via email is one of the critical parts for us to increase the key metric of bookings per client. We use Mailchimp for both types of campaigns, activating and retaining clients. Activation happens while onboarding clients and ensuring clients reach a particular stage and get value from our product and service. Drip campaigns within Mailchimp are what we use to create a series of emails to take clients through different features and options and regular email updates with a mix of educational content on how they can increase their business.
  • Email automation is great, we use it for creating our drip campaigns
  • Drag & drop UI for drafting emails
  • A/B Testing to constantly increase open rates and click rates
  • Mailchimp is already great but some improvement with capturing form or user data would be beneficial
  • Integrations with other tools can be improved as well
Considering the cost and pricing, it's well-suited for someone getting started with email marketing. Most of the features are easy to use, and there are vast resources around anything to get started quickly. The marketing team doesn't need any particular training to use the product. I believe it's excellent for products which have a use case of keeping the audience engaged over email. Email marketing and automation can be handled pretty well within Mailchimp. If you are looking for additional capabilities, you must use the integration features or different tools with it.

We use Mailchimp in our church to send out email newsletters, prayer requests, and announcements to our congregation. We have also used it in the past to send emails to guests who visit our church for the first time. This was beneficial to us because we could see if the recipient opened the email rather than wondering if they got it or if it went into their spam folder.
  • Email Formatting
  • Contact Management
  • Product Usages Walkthroughs
  • "Send To" Contact Selection
  • Campaign Search Feature
Mailchimp is well-suited for any organization that needs to send out mass email campaigns. There are a few technical skills that are required to get an email looking clean and professional, but once you have some templates made, it makes it easy to send great-looking emails to your contact lists. If someone is not tech-savvy, they should be prepared for a steep learning curve and to find quality YouTube videos to help. I say this because I tried to help my church's secretary learn how to use our Mailchimp account once. Let's just say, I'm still the main guy sending the church's emails.

We used it for many years for casual newsletters once in a while. It works well and we like it. We also use it in conjuction with the Privy plugin pop-up for signups - this gets more clicks into MailChimp mailing lists. We also used it for many client sites and they got good results.
  • Collect signups
  • Create campaigns
  • Manage lists
  • Reports
  • Pop-up can be better - we use Privy for that instead
  • Easy way to cover all compliance in various countries
  • Better plan options - between the current price plans
We built a site for launching a new spa retail location and it helped building a mailing list. We integrated it with Privy pop-up tool and included in all promos, flyers, etc. to get signups. Also for another client we had a contest where signing up enters them into a draw to win a prize and that worked even better.
