I use Marketo for our global company and across the organization. It solves CRM business requirements as well as personalization. We manage a lean marketing team and run campaigns using Marketo on a global scale. We can fully grow within the Marketo system and continue to segment and personalize and scale.
  • Trigger campaigns
  • Personalized content
  • Metrics and analytics
  • Salesforce integration
  • API integrations
  • Custom campaign development
  • Design Studio
  • Lead Database
  • Community
  • Form CSS - make it easier for everyone to modify
  • Landing page guided templates
  • More flexibility for email editor
  • More design options for customization
  • More Salesforce sync customization/visibility
Full-scale business and marketing applications and setting up channels to measure marketing activities. I think Marketo is a great ecosystem addition that can be integrated with different platforms. For example, Slack integrations, Zapier integrations, CRM Salesforce, RTP, ABM, and MPI new features and email deliver-ability options all are available and ready to implement.

We use them as our ESP and marketing automation platform. Our primary use case is to send all of our marketing emails to all of our readers. Recruitment emails for events. Pretty much all emailing to our audiences runs through Marketo as well as the journey building, which is something that we were looking for when we migrated to them from our old ESP. So looking for more of that nurture-building campaigns and pushing people through these more automated journeys.
  • I think Marketo does a lot of things particularly well as it pertains to email and having the ability to really get very detailed and particular for very different use cases. It kind of has the ability to do everything. You have to learn how to do it yourself, but it does enable you to really do any sort of email marketing campaigns in any fashion, in any sort of journey that you need. So it's very customizable.
  • I think training and ease of use. There's a very large learning curve. I think getting some of our marketers up and running on Marketo takes typically a very long process just to get them fully trained on even just sending emails. It's one of the more difficult ESPs I've ever used. It functions great and it has a lot of features available, but just learning all of those features takes a lot of time. I'm a power user and I've been on the product for six years now and there's still a lot about the product that I don't know and that I'm still learning. So I think you just have to have a very technical mindset to be able to use the product when a lot of people are more marketers and just not used to doing some more customizable really tech oriented roles.
I'd say it's less appropriate for people that are just sending straight emails and just doing something that a more simpler solution could accommodate. But it's definitely more suited for a company like mine that has a lot of different business units that have a lot of different use cases so different ways of sending emails, different types of emails. We also have a lot of data that we collect on all of our audiences, so being able to house all of that data and being able to have a bunch of business units that're doing very different things is something that Marketo really accommodates.

We use Adobe Marketo Engage daily. We use it for email delivery (client newsletters, product updates). We also use triggered campaigns that send specific emails, texts, etc. based on the behaviors of prospects. We provide the right information at the right time to prospects based on their behaviors using engagement programs for nurturing.

Marketo has a large platform eco-system and integrates well with many different applications. We currently integrate Marketo with Salesforce, Slack, On24, Splash, and others.

We use Marketo to move people through the buyer's journey with scoring and/or hand raising and move people into different revenue stages. This allows us to qualify prospects before passing them to sales.

We connect our routing/assignment with Salesforce which allows us to provide a seamless hand off to our sales team.
  • Scoring - Marketo has a system that is flexible. It allows you to create a very customized scoring model.
  • Buyers Journey - Marketo has many features that allow for you to create a customized buyers journey. Scoring, revenue stages, ability to 'stamp' data in various fields (for tracking) allows you to create a very specific buyers journey for your buyer.
  • Integration with CRM - Marketo integrates really well with so many different applications. It's native sync with Salesforce makes it an even more powerful tool
  • Because of its complexity and ability to be customized, Marketo has a longer learning curve and requires a dedicated admin.
Marketo is best in class. Many Marketing Automation Platforms (MAPs) focus on ease of use. That's great, except it usually means you give up the ability to truly customize the program to fit your specific needs.
If you need to customize your buyer's journey, create specific scoring, be able to trigger off of almost anything that you create, and be able to seamlessly integrate with your CRM, Marketo is the best tool.

At Zoho corporation we use Adobe Marketo for driving our prospecting efforts (cross sell and up-sell existing customers, and add net new logos). We setup separate marketing campaigns for based on the geography, product interest, and industry. With Marketo being highly customizable marketing automation platform, it allows us setting different buyer journeys, scoring, and personalized marketing campaigns based on the prospect segment all through a single platform. We also use workspaces and partition feature in Marketo to divide our marketing campaigns and audience respectively.
  • Customized lead scoring
  • Scalable buyer journeys
  • Engagement programs (lead nurturing)
  • Newsletter style one off email campaigns
  • Personalization
  • Email Scripting
  • User Experience can be improved a bit. When I click anywhere before the smart list gets saved, the screen freezes and we have to manually refresh the window to fix that. That is sometimes so annoying.
  • Icons should be updated. A glossary of icons should be provided within the platform as well
  • The product misses on the ability to add custom object records via smart campaign flow
  • Usage of tokens should be enabled in the smart list
  • Target Account Management should be updated with better reporting capabilities as they charge extra for that module above and beyond the base subscription
I would recommend Marketo Engage to anyone looking for a marketing automation platform that is highly customizable, scalable, and reliable. The product has a bit of a steep learning curve, but once people get to know your way around the product and different features, I’m sure they will appreciate the depth and capabilities of the Marketo. Marketo is very well suited for email marketing, comprehensive lead management, tracking, customizing marketing setup, and integrating with the CRM for closed loop marketing and sales reporting.

we use personalisation and automation for lead generation and constant communication. We tried using it for events however it didnt meet our needs and had to get a separate events management tool. Usability is easier than other email automation tools and learning for staff is quicker
  • Easy UI for staff
  • Integration with Salesforce
  • web forms for websites
  • Connection with GA
  • Plugins that other automation tools readily provide like Pardot
  • new features are slow to come by
It is well suited for B2B communication, smart lists and forms.
We needed it for events comms too but it didnt fit our needs.
However it's not so good for tracking visitors through GA on websites

We use Adobe Marketo Engage to drive perpetual Marketing for our organization. We are a large organization with a lot of SKUs and personas. Adobe Marketo Engage helps us personalize the journey for people from different personas based on their firmographics and interests. We have more than 1.5 M active records in our database and Adobe Marketo Engage helps in managing marketing to those and at the same time ensuring all the Marketing insights gets synced to our Sales platform, i.e., Salesforce as well. We do a lot of complex nurture, email send programs, and event programs for driving our organization's marketing and Adobe Marketo Engage helps very well in all our use-cases.
  • Email Sends
  • Reporting
  • Personalization
  • Lead Management
  • CRM Sync
  • Custom Buyer Journey Setup
  • Segmentations
  • User Interface could be improved a bit
  • Resources should be made more practical oriented; the documentation is text heavy and difficult to go through for new users
  • Support team should be more responsive
Adobe Marketo Engage is very well suited for B2B email marketing, persona management, and lead tracking use cases. With its ability to customize almost everything, it's super convenient for all types of customization, integrations with bespoke platforms, etc. Adobe Marketo Engage also has a lot of tools for email personalization and out of the box reporting setup is also good. Adobe Marketo Engage has a relatively steep learning curve and new users/users who aren't very tech-savvy may find it difficult to get adapted to it.

We use it as the email marketing platform for our company. We create email flows, design templates and modify code. We have to do our own versioning of our templates on a git-based platform outside since Marketo doesn't do this. The UI unfortunately looks like it was from the 2000s of web and is rather unintuitive but gets the job done once you become familiar with the platform. From an engineering perspective Marketo uses velocity templating language which is a Java-based templating engine so it's got a learning curve and is a bit of a pain to use. But the integration with the tokens of user variables is convenient for each user and testing and saving users is also convenient to do.<br><br>I would love it if had some sort of foundational email library so that we can ensure our emails work with Outlook Desktop because that is still a pain to debug and manage separately.
  • Email campaigns
  • Design and preview email templates
  • Create and save users for testing emails
  • Unintuitive UI
  • Dated Velocity Templating Language
If you want customized emails you can do anything under the sun but you also have the pain of having to test and ensure it works on every email platform (I'm looking at you Outlook Desktop client). There must be some way for Marketo to integrate and allow you to test this more easily.

We use it daily for lead routing, forms on our website and integration into SFDC. We also use it for nuturing leads who have engaged with marketing collateral online
  • Lead Nurturing
  • Website forms
  • Progressive profiling
  • The UI is not the best
  • Load times for big data sets
  • UX improvements
For larger, high volume businesses Marketo offers a comphrehesive toolkit, for smaller business it is a bit over complicated.

We use Adobe Marketo Engage as our main database for our robust email marketing to thousands of health workers and organizations about our products. We've also synched Adobe Marketo Engage with SalesForce to give true leads to our sales organization to follow up with prospects and close deals.
  • Good Analytics on email sends.
  • Database management and segmentation.
  • WYSIWYG HTML to prepare emails.
  • Lead scoring.
  • Better Dashboard.
  • Easier setup and segmentation of lists.
  • Easier integration with Salesforce.
Adobe Marketo Engage works great in managing your database of email contacts and prospects and helps to propel them over to your sales organization for follow-up. Setting up long-tail email programs is pretty straightforward to provide good content to your audience. I've found the stats consistent and easy to use, but I mainly download them into more complete campaign dashboards.

Good software, there are some confusing parts and it takes a long time and a big learning curve, but after you get used to it, it is good. I wish that it was easier to learn, some things are more complicated than they should be. Overall a good program that I and my employer use daily for our main email operations.
  • Easy editor
  • Good analytics
  • Easy to download analytics
  • needs better interface
  • needs better way to find what you need
  • it is too hard to find what you need
Very good program, it is too complicated to navigate the interface but other than that the functionality is very good and it is very useful. Marketo is a key part of my company that we use daily and I do not know where we would be without it. It does need improvement though, the interface and navigating the program are too complicated and can be made easier to navigate.

I utilize Adobe Marketo Engage for the creation and management of marketing and sales campaigns. I create emails, landing pages, and direct-lead campaigns for promotions and customer engagement.
  • In my opinion, Adobe Marketo Engage does a phenomenal job at confusing new users. It easily has the highest learning curve compared to its competitors and is a great challenge for anyone used to modern interface design.
  • Adobe Marketo Engage is easily the main focus of my daily workload. Does it need to be? Not exactly. But, I feel it does a phenomenal job at making a simple task take much longer than it should.
  • Adobe Marketo Engage is an awesome throw-back for anyone who misses the elegance of early-2000s database software. Is it pretty? In my opinion, no. Is it easy to use? In my experience, no. But when there aren't random lag spikes causing pages to take 30 seconds to load, the interface is surprisingly snappy and responsive (thanks, of course, to the simplicity of its early-2000s interface).
  • In my opinion, the interface is atrocious. You'd think Adobe-designed software would be at the cutting edge of interface development, but I feel there isn't a single competitor who has a higher learning curve. Not only is it unintuitive, but, in my opinion, it doesn't have any semblance of design standards. It seems the Marketo Engage marketing team is literally embarrassed by the design, being that it crops down the interface in almost every product shot.
  • Everything - and I mean everything - is overcomplicated. There is a fine line between allowing companies to have control in their organization and formatting conventions and putting up guardrails so things don't end up a clustered mess. It seems the Marketo Engage development team didn't want to implement any guardrails whatsoever. Except, of course, in my opinion, the terrible implementation of templates. I understand the desire to create organizational standards for corporate communications, but that does not mean restricting literally everything but face-level changes. The template landing page development experience is probably the worst time I've ever had in "web development." It would make a world of difference if it were like the email designer -- which, in itself, has issues.
  • I'm not sure the Email Designer can even be called WYSIWYG. Your email will look great in the designer and in previews, but don't expect to be done when you finish designing it. You're only half the way there. You have another hour or two just trying to figure out why Outlook, Gmail, and every other email program renders your email differently. It'd be nice to have on-screen warnings when you do something that won't be supported and by which program. For that matter, the entire designer should be built to improve your email. Give feedback when there's "spam words" in the copy. Auto-generate subject line suggestions based on the copy using words and formatting that is proven to increase clicks.
  • The ability to send email campaigns based on time zones is great, but there's absolutely no intelligence when a data scientist could have a field day with all the fantastic open-and-click data. Multiple competitors use send time optimization and intelligent, personalized send time features to make sure you inbox exactly when needed.
  • In my opinion, there's no intelligence to Adobe Marketo Engage. It does what it is supposed to do, but that's it. There are no improvement recommendations (anywhere!), and it doesn't utilize the mountain of engagement data it has to further drive and increase metrics. There are a ton of opportunities here that are just being overlooked.
Adobe Marketo Engage is great for a team or company that has everything already created and managed by an outside team. For example: if you have an agency doing all the work and you just need to post things. If you are a creator, however, in my opinion, it is one of the worst tools out there. Not just artistically but in all levels of content design.

Adobe Marketo Engage is the leading engagement that empowers marketers to build brand value, grow revenue, and prove impact.
I like it enables us to create robust marketing sales channel, manage marketing campaigns, create a manage marketing forms and landing pages, track our campaigns success easily.
I like the LaunchPoint functionality which enables us to integrate Marketo with mltiple platforms such as LinkedIn, LeadGen, Facebook Ads, and 6Sense.
Just like any other tool it requires skilled or user to undergo the learning curve, it's a great campaign management tool with maximum capabilities.
  • Adobe Marketo Engage allows us to build suitable marketing sales prospects, organise marketing campaigns design marketing apps, and sales funnel.
  • Measure the effectiveness of our campaigns, and establish the correct flows to permit almost any feature.
  • The Marketo Launch Point functionalities allows us to interface it with a variety of system and tools like social media, and have a prospect data filled immediately into our program.
  • Steep learning curve, it takes real effort to study and comprehend the features to get the best out of it.
  • Also data segmentation may get extremely puzzling while using many filters.
It's obvious I would recommend Marketo Engage because it offers all-in-one marketing management tool kit. I really like the capability you have to store our campaign programs into folders where is easy to access and manage them effectively.
I like the support team very quickly to respond quickly to all our challenges and resolve any problems easily.

I use Marketo Engage for emails and landing pages, and it's helpful for tracking activity to our various audiences. We send out newsletters regularly and also communications and web pages specifically for events that we're able to tie campaign activity to using Marketo. The system also integrates with our CRM and other marketing tech stack to be able to see who is engaged (prospects, clients, partners).
  • Well organized system
  • Easy to use
  • Seamless integration with other applications
  • Can be complex
  • Set up and learning processes may take time
  • Sometimes difficult to drill into specific data to find insights
Marketo Engage seems well suited for any digital campaign. It may not work as well for situations where physical tracking is required, or may need additional integrations with other systems to be able to fully analyze activity outside of the digital realm. If you are using software that doesn't integrate with Adobe Engage, then it may be difficult to garner insights.

My overall experience with Marketo Marketing Automation is satisfactory. I am using it daily for various marketing operations for different team members and I found this platform very helpful and amazing. Marketo is a robust platform for content creation that is tailored for some really great marketing experiences. The dashboards and reports features are amazing and this is the best thing about this tool.
  • Marketo customer support team is super responsive and always ready to help.
  • Marketo's simple and easy user interface is amazing and very easy to use.
  • Amazing dashboards and reports features are very informatics.
  • Whatever you can think of in terms of marketing automation, lead management and email marketing, chances are Marketo can do it.
  • There is a significant rampup and onboarding period, the tool is designed for a more technical user, which can cause some frustrations and leads to a learning curve.
The way the system is structured really clicked with my way of thinking, and some of the capabilities and flexibility felt like something that would scale far more easily with our organization's growth and future plans. Having an understanding of what your prospect is most interested in, creates a much more effective first conversation, rather than attempting to connect cold. Overall, Marketo has been a crucial part of our sales processes.

I create a variety of campaigns, ranging from regular/single emails to nurture/engagements, and manage the database in terms of email segmentation and communication. I also run the analytics for my campaigns, as well as the analytics for our existing Marketo admin, whom I shall be replaced in the coming months.
  • Simplicity of use.

  • Tokens make life easier.
There is a big learning curve to understand the vastness of what is involved with using or navigating through Adobe Marketo Engage, and the amount of content to remember is huge. But once you start to use it, it is pretty intuitive and easy. The layout of the platform is easy to find what you want to do, and it's in some cases self-explanatory for building email campaigns.

We use Marketo Engage to run our regional and global marketing activities, including email campaigns, tracking analytics, and scoring models. We have it integrated with Salesforce. When leads interact with the campaign content, e.g. opens, clicks, conversions, this constitutes the leads score, highlights interesting moments, and notifies us whether our leads have higher intent throughout the prospect lifecycle.

It provides a one-stop-shop to help manage all lead-based and account-based marketing initiatives. We run many email campaigns, so if you are looking for software that provides you with all the information you need to run a campaign, from drafting the HTML email, managing assets, distributing to a database and gathering the metrics, and assessing performance, their toolkit is ideal.

We use Marketo to create forms, emails, and landing pages. Personally, as a web developer, I spend most of my time on the forms side of things, however, I know our demand-gen team has also had great success with their email campaigns.
  • Tracking
  • Forms
  • Analytics
  • Email marketing
  • Would be nice to have the ability to search for a form using the form ID rather than just the form title
In terms of automation and analytics, Marketo is amazing - my only complaint is that the user interface is not the most intuitive in my opinion. I would like to see them incorporate some more advanced search features to help locate specific forms or LPs within a larger corporate account. If they can improve that, I think it would go a long way to smoothing out the learning curve for new users.

We implemented Adobe Marketo Engage in different clients with different needs. Adobe Marketo Engage is a tool with easy adaptation to the casuistry of the companies, with a friendly environment. It is true that it requires a learning process and it is essential that the company is clear about its objective with the tool. Otherwise, we can find ourselves with a failure of expectations, between what the tool can do and what the company expects.
  • CRM integration.
  • Lead Management.
  • Easy to use interface.
  • Email and landing page personalization is very limited if you don't know Velocity, HTML, and CSS.
  • Possibility to work with files (import/export).
  • Analytics dashboards could be built out more.
For B2B companies Adobe Marketo Engage is a perfect tool, even for small B2C companies. It does not require a large team to implement it. It is true that it takes time to learn many tricks of the tool, but you can build campaigns very quickly. I would not recommend Marketo for large B2C companies, they would find many limitations (especially with databases, segmentation, and personalization).

We currently use Marketo as our Marketing Automation tool, from lead generation to customer experience evaluation. Currently, it's only operated by the Marketing Team, although it's a valuable resource for every team in our company. It helps us with the majority of email communications to all of our clients and also helps us with the administration of leads and forms
  • Integration versatility
  • Easy to use interface
  • Extremely potent automation skills
  • Reporting is a little bit stiff and requires the use of API to extract all valuable information
  • Filtering by dates embedded in custom objects can be troublesome
  • For extremely specific email and landing page customization, the use of templates is not recommended
For any company that requires flexible, integrated, and automated email marketing, Marketo is the perfect solution. However, if there's only a basic requirement of sending emails and not learning/optimizing with them, Marketo may be a little too powerful for your needs

I used it for customer marketing campaigns, email nurtures, landing pages, and attribution. [Adobe] Marketo [Engage] allows me to reach all our customers and keep them engaged.

  • email deliverability

[Adobe] Marketo [Engage] serves us as a place to collect and store leads, nurture them in a personalized manner, and assign them scores based on their demographic and behavioral characteristics. It is also a place for all email marketing activities and resources. Overall, Marketo is an integral part of our B2B marketing software ecosystem, everything else is built around and on top of it.
  • Super flexible for setting up campaigns or any ad hoc actions with leads
  • Integrates well with other software via web-hooks
  • Detailed logging of user activities on your website
  • Out-of-the box Salesforce integration
  • Allows to build any workflow on top of it
  • UI is very slow, and visually it's a thing from the 90s
  • Customer support is terrible, super slow and not willing to help
  • Pricing grows quickly with 6-9% uplifts year over year
  • Downtimes happen often, though they're usually short
It would work really well if you're looking for a truly customizable solution for B2B, with a focus on email marketing. The best thing is that you can really do anything with Marketo - it depends on how much effort you want to commit. Also, it's really convenient that the data can easily be thrown into Salesforce - so that salespeople can see the activity of leads on the website. This integration is really quick to set up. On the flip side, there's not much for social media integrations and support. You have to work around your own solutions. It's mostly focused on email. The analytics bit is scarce, we preferred to download the activity logs and analyze them on our own side. The SEO part is not strong, it's better to use specialized tools. Also, the learning curve for average marketers may be higher than with other tools.

My organization uses [Adobe] Marketo Engage as our sole marketing automation system for engaging with our customer base via email, as well as a critical mechanism for operational routing initiatives. Of our organization's entire MarTech platform stack, [Adobe] Marketo Engage is the center around which our other platforms orbit, indicating how critical it is to our organization's initiatives. By leveraging [Adobe] Marketo Engage's sophisticated segmentation, dynamic content, engagement program, and API application support functionalities, we're able to granularly target with first-party and third-party demographic and behavioral data, reaching customers with the right content at the right time in their lifecycle journey -- helping us achieve critical internal KPI goals.
  • Segmentation and targeting
  • Engagement and nurture programs
  • Program templates
  • Dynamic content in emails and landing pages
  • Customization of reporting and analytics
  • Technical documentation
  • More API Launchpoint Partners
[Adobe] Marketo Engage is best suited for organizations operating at the enterprise level or organizations looking to take their marketing campaigns and operations to the enterprise level. Because the platform has a robust feature set, it does require a steep learning curve to maximize [the] use of the platform. [Still], as an experienced user, I'd say that [a] steep learning curve is worth it because the platform acts as a force multiplier for outbound marketing and sales initiatives. For organizations that don't have a broad scope of functional requirements for email campaigns, don't require sophisticated engagement or nurture programs, don't require operational functions to support Sales teams, or don't require a suite of third-party and first-party integrations, [Adobe] Marketo [Engage] might be too advanced for the organization's needs.

We use Marketo to manage marketing automation and streamline personalized marketing messages.
  • Smart campaign to custom marketing experience based on user behaviors.
  • Easy to set up cadence.
  • Easy to make actions based on campaign responses.
  • Marketo technical support is timely and proficient.
  • Paid training materials are not very useful and immediately applicable to real-world usage.
  • Can not open a new page to show a different campaign side by side.
  • Can not duplicate flow steps.
  • Marketo terms and icons are confusing and not straightforward.
If the business rules are straightforward and not too convoluted, Marketo is a light but powerful tool to use.
