Currently, we are a small marketing team who uses Marketo on behalf of the rest of our organization. We are a private university and we primarily use Marketo as a means to reach out to prospective students who have recently inquired about enrolling with us, as well as students who reached out to us at one point but we have not heard from for a while.

Marketo is used by our sales and marketing teams. Marketing uses it to create and track complex nurture streams for multiple personas at different points in the buying cycle, make quick landing pages, and it handles all of our site conversions. Our sales team uses it to track outbound sales emails and event registration.

One person in the marketing department uses all the modules. One person in the marketing department uses the lead management and RCA modules. Four people in the marketing department use the lead management module and Sales Insight. 40 members of the sales team have access to use Sales Insight - some use it a lot, while others use it a little.

For the most part, Marketo is used by the marketing team. However, we make Marketo templates available in Salesforce and therefore, allow our sales team to also leverage these emails via the integration in SFDC. This allows sales to have a greater outreach, while still staying CAN-SPAM compliant.

Marketo is used by our VP of Marketing as a light user for reporting. Our graphic designer uses it to build landing pages and modify email templates. I am the heaviest user of Marketo, drafting emails, modifying forms and doing data maintenance work.
