What is Adobe Marketo Engage?

Adobe Marketo Engage, from Adobe since 2018, aims to help marketing teams drive demand and growth in their companies by delivering exceptional experiences in concert with sales at every stage of the customer journey.

The challenge these teams face is that everyone today expects a personalized experience whenever they interact with a company - they don’t have patience for generic marketing and the last thing they want is a cold call from sales. So to stay competitive, marketing teams are scrambling to understand customers better, so they can give them a better experience, because this is disrupting entire industries. And a big part of what’s needed is figuring out how marketing and sales can do a better job together.

Adobe Marketo Engage aims to redefine Marketing Automation by helping these companies bring together the customer data, content, automation and analytics needed for marketing and sales to coordinate engagement with customers that’s personalized and measurable at every touchpoint - and do it with efficiency and scale.

Marketo Engage is definitely the most powerful marketing automation tool I've used. Its robust features and integration with other common CRM tools makes it the leader for email marketing software.

I like how this tool gives our marketing and sales teams the ability to create more coordinated journeys with tools like Sales Connect, which run marketing data right into our CRM and other advanced lead generation, lead scoring and Account management tools.
I like the AI driven solution for marketing analytics, advertising, and commerce through the most comprehensive set of customer experience apps and services available.

Adobe Marketo seems to have the most robust features although may be a bit more complicated than some of the other systems I've evaluated and used in the past. Overall, the functionality seems to be similar although the overall system seems like it will be able to scale better with a mid-sized and growing company.

Prior to Marketo, we used SharpSpring. I will say that SharpSpring is more intuitive to use than Marketo, but it has much less functionality. If you have the time to really learn Marketo, it has much more to offer as well as many more options to customize the solution to your exact needs.

Adobe Marketo Engage's UI for campaign management is by far the best I've encountered. It makes it incredibly easy to create template campaigns with a variety of assets, workflows, and emails that can be instantly cloned. This saves hours of work during the campaign creation process. Also, the way it handles forms is the most scalable and flexible method I've used in a marketing automation platform.

I prefer Marketo over some of the other marketing automation tools I've used because I think it is very user-friendly, even for someone who has never used the platform. It can be complex & overwhelming with all the features and functionalities, but once you dive in and use the tool, you see why it's essential to your marketing strategy.

Pardot was hard to customize, and the automation was extremely limited. For instance, back when I was using it, we didn't have the ability to run actions based on something like "campaign name contains." So rather than using a naming convention and having automation run based on those naming conventions, you had to sit and individually select every single campaign and add new ones as they were created. We also found it weird that the folder system lived in a different area of the platform compared to Adobe Marketo Engage, where the entire left-hand sidebar gives you access to any program immediately.

Hubspot is very intuitive and is easier to use (the drag-and-drop functionality is by far better than Marketo) whereas Marketo requires more technical knowledge/training. The initial setup can be more costly and time-consuming. Although Marketo has more functionality than Hubspot, a lot of its features have not been updated for years and some issues highlighted in its dedicated forum (Marketo Engagement Knowledgebase), are still relevant today.

Businesses having Salesforce as CRM and looking for a Marketing Automation solution should go for it. if your business uses CRM other than SFDC, you should consider comparing Marketo with the one on your list. Marketo has all capabilities that your business would need, the only question is how you can leverage to use it according to your business need.

We quickly outgrew HubSpot at our company and liked the additional features Marketo could offer. Bronto and Dotdigital are ESPs that I have used in previous roles that are much more user friendly in the email realm compared to Adobe Marketo Engage. Building and customizing emails and templates was much easier compared to Adobe Marketo Engage as an ESP. However, those platforms don't offer the data management and automation features that Adobe Marketo Engage has.

I prefer Marketo over Eloqua because it's a cleaner interface and more intuitive personally. I know that it can come down to preference, but thinking logically through the flow sometimes is better for me to have it written down rather than drawing lines that can be a little messy or confusing at times.

We selected Marketo over Pardot because we moved away from Salesforce and Pardot didn't work well when not connected with that CRM. Marketo is better as a standalone product, and it is easier to use when it comes to campaign design and development. The user interface feels better but it has been a while since we used Pardot so that may be improved.

Adobe Marketo Engage was the clear favorite among the other platforms we demoed due to the fact that there was such a deep asset library with Adobe in terms of images, templates, and more. This def. made an impact against our requirements and we went ahead with the platform. I feel they do a great job in terms of customer support and sales onboarding too.

Pardot and Marketo are extremely powerful marketing automation softwares. Marketo was selected as it had more customization and more flexibility in the creation of emails, landing pages, automation, and campaigns.

Adobe Marketo Engage is definitely more powerful than Pardot in most aspects (Pardot is also focused on B2B customers). Adobe Campaign, however, is more flexible and extensible but Adobe Marketo Engage usually fits better for B2B than Adobe Campaign (unless it is a very big B2B client or not purely/totally B2B)

Out of all the tools mentioned above, the very features which stand out Adobe Marketo Engage are lead management, lead nurturing, ABM, and Nurture campaign.
