What is Adobe Marketo Engage?

Adobe Marketo Engage, from Adobe since 2018, aims to help marketing teams drive demand and growth in their companies by delivering exceptional experiences in concert with sales at every stage of the customer journey.

The challenge these teams face is that everyone today expects a personalized experience whenever they interact with a company - they don’t have patience for generic marketing and the last thing they want is a cold call from sales. So to stay competitive, marketing teams are scrambling to understand customers better, so they can give them a better experience, because this is disrupting entire industries. And a big part of what’s needed is figuring out how marketing and sales can do a better job together.

Adobe Marketo Engage aims to redefine Marketing Automation by helping these companies bring together the customer data, content, automation and analytics needed for marketing and sales to coordinate engagement with customers that’s personalized and measurable at every touchpoint - and do it with efficiency and scale.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

If you've invested enough in your marketing automation platform, migrating to a new platform becomes a nearly-impossible task. You'll lost an enormous amount of information in your migration—you can basically plan to lose everything except for your lead database when you're looking to migrate. Marketing automation platforms in general are a very sticky product. If you were planning on changing marketing automation platforms, you should do so as quickly as possible before you're heavily invested in one specific platform.

Marketo when implemented correctly becomes your central hub for all marketing activities. For that reason it would be very difficult to migrate to another system. You must be willing to allocate resources to insure a proper thoughtful integration.

Based on the other products out there, I think Marketo is the most intuitive and it gives us what we need. There are some hiccups but you're going to have that with any high-level tech being run by humans. The price is reasonable and we're able to execute the programs that we want to implement. It integrates with Salesforce VERY well, and the sales guys are addicted to it. I've had no problems with adoption from end users.

I do not make the decision on renewal. Our Directors and Executives make the decision on what we are using internally. We can only provide ROI and feedback to them before they make the decision. So far, so good.

We've considered going with other companies just because of cost but ultimately I think we decide against it because the transitional headaches aren't worth it. Pardot I've heard is horrible. Eloqua seems nonexistent. I have my complaints about Marketo, but I think it's good to have. Hope they just make the fundamental improvements I think they are lacking.

The Marketo team is really listening to its users and every few months they launch new features that are requested by customers (SEO, lead nurturing, Marketing Calendar). The Marketo Community is now very large and it's of great help when you have questions or issues. Also, Marketo customer support is extremely fast in following up to requests.

A big reason is we have been a customers of theirs for a very long time. Our team is trained on them and our infrastructure is set up to work with Marketo. It is not worth the effort of migrating our entire database and years worth of marketing programs over to another vendor that isn't as good as Marketo.

MailChimp lacks some of the features we get in Marketo. Since we are integrated with Salesforce, we feel confident Marketo can meet all of our needs. I would like to see better options for SMS within Marketo. Currently the only option is through Twilio and it requires a lot of setup. We wanted a more out of the box solution from within Marketo.

It is up to 100% likely that the Perkuto will renew with Marketo. This has to do with the company and their relations to Marketo. As Consultants, we work on the Marketo system by building, supporting, and managing clients who are new or existing customers to Marketo. These services extend to Marketo concierge services as well. So it is very likely this will be renewed.

Marketo provides a solution that fits business needs, has strong uptake in-house and is now well integrated with Salesforce and proprietary software. It's also easy to use and provides the data points needed to make campaign and nurture program decisions. With the time invested in it to this point, and the number of people using it, there's little reason to consider alternatives.

Marketo has made significant product enhancements over the last 12 months. Although they still have significant room for improvement on the back-end of their technology to increase slow list loading and sync times, they appear poised to take advantage of industry trends like the Oracle purchase of Eloqua by investing significantly in on-boarding resources and creating a more robust marketing automation platform. Because of this investment in a better user experience, I believe Marketo will be a leader in the industry going forward.

It's pricey - a hard recurring value to sell to clients. This, along with a prolonged (when done right) rollout makes it difficult to make a solid value proposition to new and recurring clients. I love Marketo, but until there's a better way to make marketing automation available to the masses, I'll wait.
