Adobe Marketo Engage, from Adobe since 2018, aims to help marketing teams drive demand and growth in their companies by delivering exceptional experiences in concert with sales at every stage of the customer journey.

We are able to measure the money put into an email campaign or anything else, but with a long sales cycle (about 90 days) it's hard to pin point the exact cost of those campaigns. (Since there is time spent managing the campaigns, adding new campaigns, deactivating some campaigns, etc.).

We had several concrete goals with Marketo implementation and usage - primarily to get everyone on the marketing team up to speed on learning how to set up programs, deploy relevant campaigns, and better our reporting, and Marketo has enabled our organization to achieve all those objectives. Another metric we set with Marketo was to ramp up our email marketing efforts, doing outreach and ensuring full visibility into lead activity, which we were also able to accomplish using Marketo.

We want to increase awareness with our customers, prospect and suspects. We want to build deeper richer profiles of each one of these segments and target each of them with more personalized marketing information that is relevant to them and the challenges they face. To an extent yes to all of them. The biggest challenge for us is that we are a 100% channel business, so true marketing ROI is almost impossible to calculate. For demand gen and customer marketing, Marketo works well for us.

We have introduced methodologies for the sales team that have not been used before. The implementation of lead scoring offers streamlining that is much needed to keep the sales team focused on what they do best and enable the true function of the marketing team to shine - obtaining and pre-qualifying leads.

We have achieved these both internally and for our clients using Marketo, but Marketo is only one ingredient in a successful marketing recipe. If the other ingredients are not present, Marketo will not be the magic bullet that leads you to success.

The main purpose of utilizing Marketo as a tool was to engage our current customers and to nurture them into leads over time through email, direct mail, phone and other channels. Marketo has been successful in this regard overall. We've since started utilizing it for other purposes as well more recently.

We have only had marketo at my current company for about 3 months, so this is hard to say. I can say that we are on the right track now. Our previous automation software had plenty of glitches and did not have a good integration with salesforce.

We've created email programs that are automated to match a relevant message to a user in the specific stage of their user life cycle. This has been a fantastic customer comes first experience where we are now sending content that they are asking for or that is more relevant to them as an individual and not as a number in an email list.

Marketo has allowed us to work on all of these points through their different programs such as Sales Insights, Launchpoint, Salesforce integration, etc. However, our sales timeline has turned out to be not as fast as originally anticipated. Because Marketo integrates with SFDC, we are able to watch the lifecycle times and more accurately anticipate pipeline.

This is a work in progress. We had a pretty messy instance of Marketo last year; and have since gone through it and combed out the defunct campaigns that led to nowhere. We are in the process of establishing a new baseline with scoring and that is properly set up to begin building out campaigns and lists. Some of the lists we built from previous efforts we are going to keep, but many we decided to scrap. Once we get moving again, I strongly believe we will achieve all of the outcomes we desire and I have listed.

We still have a lot of engagement campaigns we would like to build. However, we have been able to make our email templates much more uniform and as a result we have seen much more interaction. With the calendar view I am also better able to schedule emails in advance so I can ensure that we are not sending out too many to the same audience.
