The platform is a great value, especially for public relations and comms professionals. The only real downside to the software is that it's fairly expensive, so depending on budget and allowances, it may not be the perfect fit, as other similar products might offer similar enough services for a lower price.
Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why
Definitely not renewing due to bad support, sneaky contract clauses, and extremely high prices
Meltwater works well for our organization and has allowed us to meet our internal goals. We are always open to new products and services that may be able to provide similar or better features; however, our experience has been that many of Meltwater's competitors are not up to the task.
While we do love Meltwater as a platform itself there is a little disconnect sometimes with updating keywords and our dashboards. It is simple to use however a little more hands on practice will certainly help with the ease of navigation. Pairing it with their social influencer program KLEAR is a great way to get the most out of it.
It's really just not that great of a product. If you're interested in just skimming mentions and giving a report that isn't detailed, then Meltwater Buzz is good. But if you need a more in-depth look then go with something else.
We have had great success with Meltwater Buzz the past 2 years. The reporting has been great for our board reports, seeing the conversations going on between our followers helps us to learn who our audience is and what we can do better on our social media. The analytics we see on Meltwater Buzz we could not get anywhere else.
Meltwater's platform consistently out-performs others we trial when it comes to monitoring. Their customer support is unrivaled, and I've never seen anything like it from such a large company. Meltwater is on top of emerging trends and needs of PR practitioners both in terms of actually practicing PR *and* in terms of helping us show ROI to clients.
As a smaller sized communications team we would likely free up a lot of time and get better results by either subscribing to a more established clipping service, or engaging an outside PR agency.
ROI - is the cost of the tool balanced by how information is used and acted upon.
While Meltwater Buzz has many wonderful elements, there are several frustrating things such as limited channel options, inability to customise reporting functions and the manual task associated with the listening option that let it down.
