What is MiCloud Connect?

MiCloud Connect (formerly ShoreTel) is a business communications solution that combines a distributed communications platform, intuitive user applications, IP phones, and an easy-to-use management system that integrates with leading business information systems. Voice Switches are purpose-built appliances providing VoIP telephony with reliability and availability. The appliances help extend system capabilities and secure access for remote IP phones and SIP service providers.

ShoreTel was acquired by Mitel in 2017; according to Mitel, they will continue to offer and support ShoreTel products, now under the name MiCloud Connect.

It's really only useful for offices with more than 20 employees. Smaller offices don't really require this kind of communication infrastructure, and while ShoreTel is useful for just about any office size, it's a resource that I don't know smaller offices would really utilize fully. It's a great system in terms of managing workflow in an environment that receives a fair amount of call traffic both externally and internally.

Each of our locations has a dedicated ShoreTel router and managed QoS. With full management, it provides us a breath of space and bandwidth to use our resources in other means. Strongly consider the managed solution as you have to maintain more technical issues when hosting with your ISP. You have to make sure your ISP can provide you the best service for voice and data. Plug and 'hope' doesn't work with just routing your phones over any Internet connection....especially when your handsets run int he 100's.

I feel that the current features that ShoreTel provides are pretty solid, but in future I would love to see it expand into more features to assist inter team communication if possible. Considering that there was not a single issue with ShoreTel in my whole work period of 6months I think it is safe to say that the implementation is pretty standardized.

We had the phone system installed and running in less than a day. The vendor did much of the prep work ahead of time. As our business has expanded, implementing new sites has been a breeze. I recommend having a strong PoE infrastructure to cut down on wiring at the desk. Less wires = less chance of phone issues.

Be sure to involve all the members of your organization who currently know how your present phone system is used. Discuss current deficiencies and preferred features or call handling etc., then consult with the ShoreTel partner (assuming you are using one) to develop a configuration that servers your organization best. Hammering out these details before deploying the solution is key to a smooth deployment that requires little change afterwards.

We worked with a third party vendor who set up the system and assisted in rolling it out. All of the configuration worked out of the box and has been running without issue since it was installed. We got great training and the system was very easy to manage and teach to new users.

No consistent complaints from my Pro-Techs. Clients are generally happy and that is what is really important. With every install there will be issues, it is how you work creatively to solve the problems that matter and having a good partner like ShoreTel helps.

Connect cloud/sky is among the top hosted PBX products in regards to implementation. Not only is it super simple on the customer, the ShoreTel team makes sure everything is handled and implemented properly while including the customer in the discussions and training them on what is important to understand and because it is easy to learn, it is also very easy to explain.

If you have the right partner implementation should go relatively easy. If ECC is implemented then things can definitely get more challenging, especially if there is a need for integration that will need custom programming such as JD Edwards or SAP. We have taken over support for many clients who initially purchased from CDW, AT&T, CenturyLink and Windstream and were not happy with their initial installation and end user training.
