What is MiCloud Connect?

MiCloud Connect (formerly ShoreTel) is a business communications solution that combines a distributed communications platform, intuitive user applications, IP phones, and an easy-to-use management system that integrates with leading business information systems. Voice Switches are purpose-built appliances providing VoIP telephony with reliability and availability. The appliances help extend system capabilities and secure access for remote IP phones and SIP service providers.

ShoreTel was acquired by Mitel in 2017; according to Mitel, they will continue to offer and support ShoreTel products, now under the name MiCloud Connect.

  • Huge cost savings on international toll bypass.
  • Significant savings on equipment purchases due to longevity of hardware platform.
  • A few challenges with international compatibility created some cost as a result of making changes to our processes and footprint, but these minor costs were far eclipsed by what we have saved on least cost routing.
  • Level 1 administration is easy enough that PBX specialists are not required for MACD.

  • From a business perspective we spend very little time having to administer our system and our clients have had the same experience. This frees up time to focus on other business goals and objectives. Since most IT organizations are understaffed this is a tremendous benefit.
  • From an end user perspective the phones and UC tools are easy to adopt and use and that is why companies that go with ShoreTel always get a greater ROI ( IMHO) - the investment is only worth it if the new technology is actually adopted at the user level.

  • Calculated total hard costs of hardware and deployment was fully repaid via long distance savings, reduced lines charges and consolidation in less than 18 months. Our ROI did not account for any other benefits other than hard Telco costs.
  • Providing extension dialing, universal voice mail and advanced feature sets (call routing, mobility, etc.) has made out telephone platform a productivity enhancer.

  • We've experienced overall ROI because our phones are up virtually 100% of the time. Our previous vendor had frequent service interruptions which caused our company to lose productivity.
  • With ShoreTel Sky, our staff is able to work on-site or remote without our clients or their team members even noticing. Call flow and routing, conferencing, Mobility, Scribe enable our teams to work whenever and wherever they are.

  • Customer service is a big plus, they have a great customer service team that always answers and always works to fix the problem.
  • Their cost has significantly reduced our monthly costs in terms of cost-per-person.
  • The outages have really caused some concern about taking this mainstream with our three companies. Phones are critical in our work environment so although what we have works 95% of the time, that 5 percent keeps me from moving further ahead with ShoreTel.

  • The call center feature is great for ensuring that customer calls are answered promptly and in the order they were received. A custom message can be added to the on-hold queue, and the system can tell customers their estimated hold time.
  • If your business has many sites and different phone systems at each, ShoreTel brings all the offices together in one system and people can dial one another by extension rather than over a costly (even long distance) land line.
  • For many businesses, cost breaks about even when comparing VoIP and PBX systems based on the phone system itself. The cost savings with ShoreTel come from other areas such as support - most IT professionals would be comfortable supporting ShoreTel, as it is server and switch based. Traditional phone systems generally have to be maintained by phone experts.
