We use Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security primarily for end-point management as well as for its multifactor authentication and privileged identity management.

We use it to manage the setup and security of our devices through the use and configuration of Microsoft Intune as well use using it to secure all user accounts with MFA and our admin account with PIM.
  • End point managment
  • User account security
  • Privileged identity management
  • Licensing - All Microsoft licensing is unclear
  • Admin center organization - things are not all in an expected place
  • Clear reporting
Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security has been ideal for our organization (and would be for any I can think of) for securing user accounts through MFA and admin accounts through PIM.

Its end-point management is also great for set-up and configuration as well as management of your devices. It also provides you with useful metrics and feedback on your devices.
  • End point managment
  • Multifactor Authentication
  • Privileged Identity Management
  • MFA has prevented a number of phishing attacks against our organization
  • Endpoint management has allowed us to use autopilot to set up our devices far faster
  • PIM has helped to secure our admin accounts
Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security is better than any of the products I have used that do similar things.

There is a huge convenience to all the things Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security brings together in one place. Also, the speed and streamlining nature of Intune helps with the management and set up of devices.

Microsoft offers a convenient package for simplicity and security for our end users with Microsoft Endpoint Mobility + Security. In this product offering, we opted for the E5 plan which encompasses Azure P1, Azure Information Protection P1, ATP and Microsoft Intune. We were already using some of these solutions as standalone products, so it's great to have it bundled into one product offering for simplicity. Since our organization is predominantly Windows based, we use Microsoft Intune to manage user access to sensitive company data, and on all devices such as laptops, workstations/desktops, and countless mobile devices.
  • Simple pre-packed solution for many popular Microsoft products
  • Advanced threat protection
  • Simplified end user management with Intune
  • The subscription model (cost) could be revamped for perpetual licensing options
One of the greatest solutions included in Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security is their Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). We find that ATP is very well polished and proficient in protecting our business in our security challenges. We also use Microsoft Intune to manage over 5000 devices, including any from 'BYOD'. Working with our Enterprise Mobile app developers, we ensure that our business (and our users) is well protected.
  • On-Premise Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
  • Microsoft Intune
  • Increased productivity, including service requests for our customers
  • Reduced operational costs, and threat/risk of cyber-attacks
We use Apple MDM tools as well as manage our fleet of ChromeOS devices through the Chrome Enterprise Upgrade. All of these solutions work well for their own OS, but we find that Microsoft Enterprise Mobility & Security has the widest range of useful features that we need.

We implement Microsoft EMS + Security at all of our clients who use Office 365, as well as internally. It provides advanced threat protection from malware, phishing and impersonation attacks, as well as includes an Azure AD Premium subscription for each user, so they are licensed for Azure AD services like Single Sign-On, which we use with just about any cloud service we can that supports Azure AD SSO via SAML. Lastly, we use the InTune subscription included for basic asset management and configuration policies for Windows 10 devices.
  • Azure AD Single Sign-On -- this is my favorite feature of EMS + Security. It is easy to setup and MS has simple instructions for most popular cloud services.
  • InTune -- the changeover from the old InTune Client/Silverlight Portal has been painful, but once you get Win10 devices setup with InTune, management is a breeze.
  • InTune deployment via Hybrid Azure AD. The instructions seem very simple but there are lots of little areas you can get tripped up and there is little logging to see where you've gone wrong.
  • Advanced Threat Protection anti-impersonation. It is WAY too sensitive. Users emailing themselves from personal accounts get their mail sent to quarantine just because the name/label of the personal account matches their Office 365 mailbox name/label? HUH???
  • Licensing. Typical of Microsoft, what you're actually getting and details of licensing are confusing.
Any organization that is running Office 365 for email should have EMS licenses. The benefits are manifold compared to the reasonable cost. Truthfully, I think a lot of the features should be part of an O365 Business Premium license, but since the EMS license is a drop in the bucket, it's hard to complain.
  • SSO setup through Azure AD has saved IT staff countless hours of lost passwords, multiple password resets, offboarding departed staff accounts, etc.
  • Anti malware/phishing policies have prevented active malware/phishing campaigns.
EMS integrates directly with Office 365. It offers multiple desired features in one product/subscription. It's difficult to do a 1:1 comparison between each product. OneLogin's pre-sales support was terrible and implementation was complex. Barracuda offers great email protection but hard to justify the cost when EMS can just be added on to existing Office 365 accounts and brings additional benefit in SSO, etc.
