On premise Exchange is the email platform for the enterprise. We do not setup it up for all users, only those who have a legitimate business need for email communication. As you would expect, Exchange provides a reliable method of business communication with both internal and external users.
  • Email delivery
  • Email storage
  • Email archival
  • Support for non-Windows clients
On-prem Exchange is well suited larger organizations. Due to the cost of licensing, hardware, and the expertise required to maintain, it's not necessarily a good fit for small to medium sized companies. O365 would be a better option for those types of organizations.

I have been working as a Microsoft Exchange administrator, providing advanced technical support for Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange users of our clients. Microsoft Exchange is a great product in the Microsoft Suite, via which all issues related to Microsoft Outlook can be addressed by the administrator. From basic issues like extending mailbox capacity to whitelisting or blocking domains and senders across the organization, this product does it all. The UI is user-friendly and easy to learn.
  • Provides enhanced security
  • Out of office and automatic replies
  • Shared contacts across organization
  • Shared Calendars across organization
  • Easy access to Outlook administration tools
  • Mac and Linux integration can me made smoother
  • Might be a little expensive for small organizations
  • Web access can be improved to be more like the application
Microsoft Exchange is a must for organizations using the Microsoft suite of applications. The easy User Interface helps in quickly and smoothly managing the mailboxes of users and working on any issues around them. One of the best things about this is the ease with which the administrators can block or whitelist domains or particular senders across the domain. This ensures enhances security against spammers and hackers.

As expected Microsoft Exchange Server serves as an Email server, enabling us to contact external partners, and hosting our user's mailboxes calendars, contacts, and tasks. It also integrates with our Skype for Business Server that covers our conferencing needs. We have chosen to install a pair of Microsoft Exchange Servers, in order to increase their availability.
  • Email Exchange from and to internal and external partners
  • Host user calendars
  • Host user mailboxes
  • Would be nice if all management options were available in the GUI management.
  • Would be nice if there were less technical users / mailboxes in the AD.
  • Would like to see simpler implementation of DAGs.
  • Access to log files could be easier. A tool to search them / filter logs would be nice to have.
Would see Microsoft Exchange as a suitable solution for medium / large companies. Smaller companies are probably better off using a simpler implementation of an Email server. Also, the licensing costs are considerable so smaller companies probably will have a difficult time to manage to pay them. Large companies would be probably the best fit for an Exchange Server implementation.

Maintaining different user's mailbox's was difficult in the past now that the Microsoft Exchange online comes with robust 99.9% uptime with Outlook with office 365 bundle we all can sync all our emails files everything anywhere any device with just one login. Where I manage user's in my project and its pricing is very flexible per user per month like subscription so any user leaving or joining the project can be easily scaled.
  • robust uptime for all apps including outlook one drive with email protection filtering and anti- spam subscriptions
  • integration with Mac and Linux can be improved
In my production environment we manage a very big client and its user's use Office 365 so from an admin perspective the dashboard is robust and where we manage user's lost file backup's and any issue's with adding or removing user's form directory using Office 365.

Outside the production environment we use Microsoft Exchange everyday. Its email functionality with integrated calendar and Teams or Webex meeting scheduling add-in's and calender updates whenever there is a meeting prior to be more productive. Great integration features.

We have been using Microsoft Exchange servers for the past years with an O365 app subscription. It provided us with an efficient way of managing emails with advanced features like voice messaging etc. It has worked well with traditional outlook clients. We could continuously get good feedback from our clients regarding the feature-rich solutions of Microsoft Exchange.
  • Efficient mail delivery and handling.
  • Secure mailing protocols with anti spam features.
  • Connect relevant mails well making the search faster with its AI features.
  • Budget is definitely high for a medium level organization.
  • On Premise Microsoft Exchange server requires a good pre-required server hardware.
  • Works best only with other O365 apps integrated.
Highly efficient and feature-oriented if we have other O365 apps like one note, calenders included. It will be relatively easy to synchronize emails effectively with calenders and teams for any professionals. Not suitable if it is a non-Microsoft local environment.

Microsoft Exchange is used as the groupware server backbone for a set of collaboration experiences connected to the Microsoft Office 365 product suite. Specifically, it provides the server infrastructure for managing email traffic and calendar events. For accessing applications powered by Microsoft Exchange, individual company users can access locally-installed Windows applications or web experiences via browsers.
  • Routing emails to the appropriate individual or group.
  • Providing advanced email management options, such as filtering and routing.
  • Providing calendar collaboration, with the ability to control who can see my calendar.
  • Exchange spam filtering can be inconsistent at times.
  • Exchange task integration is lacking key features such as schedule integration.
  • According to IT colleagues, Exchange servers are tedious to manage and upgrade from a set-up administration perspective.
Many organizations have standardized on Microsoft Office as a productivity suite, so employees can access applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. For these companies, MS Exchange is the ideal infrastructure choice to support email, calendar, and task collaboration. Especially for companies who still require or desire an on-premise implementation of MS software.

For many years, we used Microsoft Exchange to collect and manage all incoming and outgoing e-mails in the institutions I worked for. We now use Exchange 2016 with over 1000 mailboxes and various databases on-premises. In general, our institutions are satisfied with this product, it is a very useful tool for using and managing mail systems with Microsoft Exchange product.
  • Strong community support for Microsoft group's Exchange product.
  • Microsoft Exchange The product is very easy to install and deploy.
  • Microsoft Exchange is user-friendly and options like send and receive connectors or mail flow are uncomplicated.
  • In general, I think that supplier or business partner relations should be developed.
  • Efforts should be continued to increase the internal and operational efficiency of the group.
  • International Compliance and risk management should continue to be improved.
You can use Microsoft Exchange Server with peace of mind for e-mail, calendar, communication, scheduling, and collaboration services. Microsoft's Exchange Server is a product designed to provide users with access to the messaging platform from mobile devices, desktops, and web-based systems. Telephony features in Exchange Server support voicemail. Exchange Server successfully offers high availability service with Microsoft Exchange Database availability groups.

Our company's preferred method of corporate communication is Microsoft Exchange. It can be used on both mobile devices and personal computers because of its multi-media capability. It assures that all of our communications, whether internal and external, are safe and uninterruptible. Using Microsoft Exchange, the whole institution's communication may be managed from a single location.
  • Thanks to group e-mail, you don't require project stakeholders' contact details. Project managers may quickly give comments and information by e-mailing that group.
  • It simplifies mailbox management.
  • Favorite feature: calendar. This function shows which meeting rooms are vacant or full. Meetings are easy to organize.
  • In grouped emails, you can't limit the list when you open it.
  • Slow page loads. Needs work.
  • Email synchronization can be sluggish, and there's no permanent solution.
Sending and receiving emails, as well as keeping track of them, is a breeze with this software. It's a fantastic tool for organizing meetings, sending out group emails, and setting up appointments. It's a tool that's ideal for organizations with a high number of projects and employees to use. As a result, small firms are able to take use of it with little difficulty. The product's various features and user-friendly interface make it a product that can be utilized by everyone.

When setting up a meeting or calendar sharing to see when other members are free or available, we utilize Microsoft Exchange for our daily work email. Also, we use it to keep track of our project-related discussions and to exchange papers with other members of the company. If you're looking for a way to get to know other members of the community, Microsoft Exchange is a fantastic place to start. It saves a lot of paper since you don't have to print everything, and the information is easy to access.
  • Supporting devices can be simply connected
  • The product is Outlook-friendly
  • Microsoft Exchange streamlines communication across Microsoft-based programs and devices
  • It only works with Microsoft products. Google applications are more generic. Oracle Linux is better.
  • Recent changes aren't trustworthy, and many email issues aren't fixable
  • Real-time connectivity requires a server
For our clients, the switch to an entirely independent (parallel processing) Microsoft Exchange Server was a lifesaver because previous software versions frequently crashed. The clever viva add-on informs me of any things that are still uncompleted in my large email to-do lists. Migrating to Office 365 has never been easier because to the meticulous preparation that has gone into it. Web applications will load more quickly.

I have been using different email servers including those from Google, Rediffmail, and Microsoft. I found Microsoft Exchange to be the most intuitive and feature-rich platform. Its products ranging from email to calendar and other avenues make it a great all-in-one suite. It's secure with 2FA and recovery codes, doesn't lag, and rarely has downtime.
  • Intuitive
  • Feature-rich
  • Multiple products under one platform
  • Pricing can be slightly lowered
Since Microsoft Exchange server is an all-in-one suite of applications and products from Microsoft, it lets users collaborate seamlessly. Microsoft has a wide variety of products and the Exchange server is a great way to bring them all under one roof for enterprises. If the organization uses Microsoft applications throughout then using the Exchange server is of great benefit.

We use Microsoft Exchange to contact our end customers and providers daily, then it is an essential tool for us to keep the communication up to date. Some day we decided to migrate from Exchange to Exchange Online because it seems to be more accessible for the end-users but it didn't work, the users were able to enter the mailbox but all the email subfolders were gone, disappeared, it wasn't there anymore, then all the users got concerned because some of them use to have more than 10 subfolders to organize their emails (customers, providers, warranties, contracts, etc.), we tried to execute a script to migrate the accounts including the subfolders but it didn't work, then they switched back to Exchange On-Premise.
  • Ease of use.
  • Clear interface.
  • Easy integration between desktop and mobile devices.
  • Wizard to migrate a mailbox from Exchange to Exchange Online keeping subfolders.
  • Wizard configuring a Microsoft 365 mailbox in a mobile device.
  • The Online version has not had the same options for customizing the interface as On-Premise.
I think Microsoft Exchange is well suited when you can set your customized subfolders for one or more mailboxes, it is a very clear interface for end-users and it makes easy email management. The native integration with Teams and calendar is so good because at least 50% of our customers use Microsoft Teams for meetings, then we don't need to create a specific event in another calendar (like Google) to schedule the meeting. The interface is very customizable to make it more friendly for the end-user. I think Microsoft Exchange is less appropriate when you need to configure a new email account and doesn't have some technical knowledge. It is also a problem when you need to integrate a plugin (like Google Calendar) to connect to other platforms because most cases it becomes a very slow performance of Exchange, then you need to uninstall the plugin.

A more formal means of communication. Search for contacts and previous emails in a simple way. It adapts to your work style so that you improve your productivity. You will have your emails, calendars, and contact information. A calendar system that goes beyond the classic programming. You can capture mail events.
  • Email is accessed not downloaded or stored on the device
  • Allows access to email whatever it is
  • It allows us unlimited calendar storage
  • Poor integration with traditional applications
Agendas and viewing in parallel. Access even if we are not connected to the server, copies of email and calendar elements are preserved, and all maintenance is carried out free of charge. Tools that greatly facilitate the work. Use of servers that support a considerable volume of data. Fully optimizes collaboration and data transfer.

I have used Microsoft Exchange for many years in numerous organizations. In an ever-changing business landscape and in an incredibly crowded field, Microsoft Exchange has consistently delivered, especially for remote employees. During long periods of remote work (especially at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic) Microsoft Exchange ensured that our calendars, emails, and documents were shared seamlessly. This was especially useful when collaborating on projects.
  • Ease of use- it has been a stalwart in business communities
  • Reliability- I have yet to experience any server outages or data breach concerns
  • User Interface- Microsoft Exchange products are incredibly intuitive
  • High Expense- Initial cost of the on-site server and licensing fees can be burdensome for small businesses
  • Better protection against data loss
  • More on-site support from technicians when needed
For businesses with experienced on-site administrators that want ultimate control of their data, Microsoft Exchange is a no-brainer. For those with smaller office sizes or cost limitations, it can be a little pricey especially when you consider licensing fees. So many of the cloud-based major players make the reduced cost very attractive.

With Microsoft Exchange, we manage all the organization's mail. It allows us to have policies to control malicious mail, control the size of each user's mailbox, create automatic mail forwarding to other users, track or trace incoming or outgoing mail, and block domains related to SPAM. Integrates with Active Directory or LDAP.
  • Mailbox management
  • Traceability of incoming or outgoing mail
  • Malicious domain blocking
  • Updates or patches are a bit difficult
Microsoft Exchange is very suitable for corporate environments given its high integration with other products (such as Active Directory). The product is also suitable for any size company. It also requires having personnel in the information technology department trained to administer or support the product or to carry out updates.

We use Microsoft Exchange to manage emails across our organization. It does a great job in integrating with other Microsoft Office and other Microsoft applications like Teams.
  • Synchronize with a lot of different applications
  • Good interface
  • The options to customize rules are good
  • Easy to use
  • Better searching functionality
  • Better filing capability
  • Better ways to identify phishing emails
Microsoft Exchange seems to be the standard in businesses. I think it's useful that the majority of other businesses also use Microsoft Exchange. It makes sense to use Microsoft Exchange if the company uses a Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications. It may not be suitable for businesses that don't use Microsoft applications and may use Mac OS more.

We use Microsoft Exchange as our main email server which is now hosted online - Office 365 Suite
  • An excellent email server
  • Spam filtering system
  • Shared mailbox across multiple departments
  • In-built firewall for inbound and outbound emails
  • Integration with other mail server/services
  • Archiving can be better implemented
  • Online web interface appears crowded
  • Settings options slightly confusing
Microsoft Exchange is an excellent email server with inbuilt spam filtering for junk emails. It also integrates easily with your calendar from different vendors. The main email client Outlook works well most of the time but only on Windows machines. It appears to be a half-backed software on macOS

Our email server is a virtual computer that runs Microsoft Exchange. As far as we know, this mail server is where all mailboxes belonging to hospital employees are kept. When sending an email to multiple recipients at once is not possible, the mail server may address this problem by allowing us to build distribution groups. This means that if I send an email to a distribution group, it will be received by everyone who is a member of that group. The majority of our mailboxes are on-premises, however, some are hosted in the cloud using Microsoft Exchange.
  • Highly secure and compatible with third-party firewalls.
  • Reduced costs and more options.
  • Microsoft frequently updates it and it's quite popular.
  • Purchasing hardware and software can be expensive.
  • I find the management UI a little cumbersome to use.
  • Continuity of operations might be jeopardized, and the expense of re-creating lost data is high.
We have a large number of domains and send and receive hundreds of emails per day. Microsoft Exchange makes it easy to keep track of everything. Anyone who requires some sort of automated email system will likely find Microsoft Exchange useful. The current version of Exchange has also considerably reduced the time spent managing/administrating email, which is a tremendous advantage regardless of the size of the company.

Microsoft Exchange is an excellent messaging system integrated with email, calendar, and messaging. It has one of the best email solutions, easy administration, deployment, and integration with Microsoft. It has helped us in enhancing the email delivery system tremendously. It is a must tool for all organizations.
  • Easy administration as it helps us in managing the various groups along with their privacy.
  • Easy deployment/integration of the company data on the server.
  • Intuitive features along with their privacy control.
  • Email Organization system does not provide feedback intelligently about the category an email should belong to.
  • Managing calendar event is sometimes difficult.
  • Email indexing or searching can be improved as it takes a longer time to fetch that data when on limited bandwidth.
It is helpful in converting mailboxes to the shared mailbox and helps us in mail distribution management. It helps all types of companies in managing the email delivery system, email management, contact management, calendar management, etc. It is well suited for medium to large company size, given the pricing.

We use Microsoft Exchange for day-to-day email exchanges for alert and monitoring boxes. This is easy to share across users and easy to maintain. The advantage is that it doesn't create the threat of password sharing. Its shared mailbox can be configured and can be parallelly accessed by multiple users. This has been beneficial for the support team.
  • Multiple user access
  • Easy for maintenance
  • Works well for calendar and rules
  • Not any that we observed

I used Microsoft Exchange for several years as a collaborative suite, mainly emails, but also for work processes, using shared mailboxes, archiving items and specific email related workflows. I've upgraded without issues from several versions, in complex environments with Microsoft Exchange components spanning multiple servers.
  • Email
  • Calendar
  • Contacts
  • Simplify management console
  • Better security
  • More frequent security patches
Microsoft Exchange is the reference in collaboration within enterprise. Now replaced by Microsoft Office 365 suite, but on premises deployments are still best in class. Management console can be difficult to use in my opinion, but documentation is great. Microsoft PowerShell can be used to perform every action programmatically.

Exchange is used extensively within the organization for email, calendaring, and resource bookings such as rooms and conferencing facilities. We operate in Hybrid mode because we have both on-premise and cloud presences. Therefore our source of authority(SOA) comes from the on-premise Active Directory (AD). This makes life a little more complicated as we need a process to connect both presences and keep them in synchronization which is done with a service called Azure AD Connect. We will eventually remove our on-premise Exchange service and move completely to Exchange Online but because of other dependencies, we cannot do this at the moment.
  • As we have a large user base of 11,000 users we use MailTips to avoid people getting confused with people with similar names in the organization.
  • The integration between Teams Meeting and Resource booking is generally very good. The Scheduling Assistance makes it easy to scan calendars and find free periods to provisionally scheduled events.
  • Marking yourself as Out of the Office and busy is easy, as is sharing your calendar within the team/organization or individuals.
  • Voicemail integration and the ability to receive missed chats in your inbox are highly used and useful.
  • Exchange Online has a limitation of only being able to send a message to 500 recipients within a 24-hour period. Bulk emails may therefore require batching.
  • Initially, provisioning users can take a little while due to mailboxes being created and policies applied. It would be advisable to give a least 24 hours.
  • PowerShell skills are recommended to perform bulk administrative operations. They may be slow and tedious from the Administrative Console.
Mailbox delegation is used extensively so that personal assistants can manage the email/diaries of high-profile members of staff. The ability to convert a mailbox from regular to shared is also beneficial when a person is on leave or absent for a period of time as it frees up a license. As Exchange is so accessible, it can be used as a filing cabinet which is not what it is designed to be. This can lead to large mailboxes which can lead to users losing the information within them.

We use it primarily for email services; however, it does get used for creating documents, spreadsheets, storage, etc. There are some difficulties with using Word, Excel, and Powerpoint since this is a cloud-based program. You have to save everything to the cloud storage, which is good to free up the computer/server storage, but it does create some more steps to be able to download and save these documents on an actual computer.
  • Access to email services
  • Teams
  • Keeps documents off your computer or server and freeing up space
  • May be more secure
  • when saving a document, it would be nice to have the ability to save in the cloud and on a computer at the same time if so desired
  • ease of downloading documents to a computer
  • not having to have anything encrypted when downloading documents
Definitely well suited for email services. It is easily accessible; however, it does take several windows to go through to get to your email. We also have it set up for a finite amount of storage, so you have to stay on top of what you want to keep and what to delete.

We have a virtual machine running exchange and it is our email server. The scope of our use case is that this mail server is where all mailboxes are stored for end users in this hospital. The mail server is able to solve problems such as not being able to email many users at once, exchange resolves this issue by allowing us to create distribution groups, so if I email one distribution group many people will get that email if they are in the group. We have a hybrid exchange environment where some mailboxes are on the cloud but most on-prem using Microsoft Exchange.
  • Reliable access to email, calendar, and contacts including accessing these using a cell phone.
  • Very secure and can be used with third party firewalls systems.
  • Reduced Costs and Flexibility.
  • Updated a lot by Microsoft and is very popular.
  • The two main factors for the better reliability & Uptime of internally hosted Exchange Server depends on Exchange Server configuration and the level of investment the organization is willing to provide for hosting the Exchange Server On-Premise Environment. As the data is stored in the organization’s hardware, any disaster may lead to the loss of email and servers.
  • Losing data might affect business continuity and rebuilding it can be costly.
  • Security remains a major concern.
  • Security of data loss is main concern. To ensure that, organization needs to configure networks, systems and Exchange platform against possible threats.
  • Hardware and license costs are high.
I have used Microsoft Exchange at many different places I worked, it is best suited for under 1000 users and anything above that should really be using ms 365 and the mailbox sizes ( default is 2gb for a mailbox ) tend to eat a lot of storage space in an IT infrastructure and this makes costs for an IT department go up. The reliability and uptime of your in-house Exchange solution absolutely depends on how much you are willing to invest in the platform. Guaranteeing a 99.99% availability or better requires a costly infrastructure.

We use Microsoft Exchange for all of our email handling.
  • Spam filtering
  • Data loss prevention
  • Reports and metrics on email usage
  • High availability and uptime
  • Ease of access
  • User friendly
  • The documentation is not always up to date.
  • Microsoft occasionally changes things without informing us.
  • The administration interface feels somewhat clunky.
We have dozens of domains and send out thousands of emails every day along with receiving thousands more. Microsoft Exchange allows us to manage all of this easily. Any organization that needs any form of automated email system will likely benefit from Microsoft Exchange. The newer Exchange has also greatly decreased the amount of time spent on managing/administration of email which is a great benefit regardless of the business size. I feel that any business larger than a few people and without a dedicated email engineering team would appreciate Exchange.
