The sharing in our department is excellent. I like that you can add comments about a particular chart or graph. You can notify everyone when an update is available.

Collaboration and Sharing

I love how easy it is to share data and distribute it across my organization. Everyone knows how to log into Power BI to see their reports, and depending on their role, they see what they need to see. It's very easy from that standpoint. Everyone loves how easy it is to log into and view reports. Right now we don't have SSO setup, so that's annoying. That's about the only troubleshooting I have to do, or fixing the connection if a file gets moved or changed.

Beautiful Reports and Useful Data, but configuration is not easy!

Collaboration and Sharing

10
With all the data that is fed to Microsoft Power BI, many reports are generated, and even more are possible. In a defense company, it is paramount that certain information is only seen by specified users, which Microsoft Power BI makes very easy to do using user groups and AD. Collaboration is relatively simple to carry out on reports, as long as the user access permissions are correctly set up. Reports can be published to internal or external websites, PDF's generated, and reports emailed.

Collaboration and Sharing

It's pretty easy to create a report and share it with people who will find that report useful. When shared, those users will be able to access it via their mobile app & online in the "Shared With Me" section. As a user, you can decide who can see what reports you've created, you can decide if those receiving the share link can build new content with the underlying data set, and you can restrict if that user can share the report with anyone else. Of course, you can also remove access at any time.

Power BI: powerful and easy tool to build complex data model

Collaboration and Sharing

For my experience, collaboration in a factive way requires a PRO license. In this way, you can share reports and dashboards with other authenticated users or give them rights to manage the data model. The tool allows also to publish reports with free-to-all access.
From a collaboration point of view, there aren't many useful functions. From a security perspective, you can work to a report level or with row security level it is possible to segregate data to different clusters of users.

Simplified metrics using Power BI

We used to run reports in excel, then create a power point presentation and then email it to our clients. With Power BI, the metrics can be configured into templates and scheduled to be sent to the email in the required format.
The set up took time in the beginning. But after that was done the process is easy to manage.

Collaboration and Sharing

With Power BI, we can combine data from multiple sources, build a data model, create visualizations, and share the results with others in our company. I learned Excel Power Pivot a few years ago, and everything I learned there about Power Query and DAX translated directly to Power BI. Now I rarely use Excel Power Pivot because it's so much easier to share the results through the cloud with Power BI.

Super easy to share and distribute the data within teams. A few clicks and you're set. I'm giving it a 9 because there are times when the end user can get lost in navigating the various screens on the web version. Mobile is much better in this regard, so try to go mobile when you can.

Collaboration and Sharing

Power BI is a great tool for sharing dashboards. You can publish it to many softwares, such as PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint. The only down side is that for one person to access the shared report, one must possess the Power BI Pro license.

Collaboration and Sharing

The paid version is required to share and collaborate, and it does so well if you don’t need many security layers involved. I don’t feel it plays well with even its own family of tools like Word or PowerPoint. We’ve always had trouble imbedding visualizations into any other presentation tool and end up using the Snip tool to just get a static image to use. It also has limited report bursting, when most other tools can automate and schedule excel reports or pixel perfect reports in a wide variety of ways. Good for sharing amongst a team but there are better options for broader enterprise or global sharing.

Collaboration and Sharing

If you want to use the full scale of report sharing then you need Pro license. Once you have the Pro license you have the capability of setting accessibility security or real time sharing or app publishing. Therefore you need to choose the correct license type for your scope data distribution. I gave a middle score as I think they should release a data sharing function free besides Export to PowerPoint or Excel. Eventually BI dashboard reporting tool that you can not use for sharing reports is not good.

There's great version control, and multiple users can work on the same exact document or file at the same time, and the changes are then merged automatically. Access control is also very simple and easy to configure. Sharing across teams and reporting is about as good as you could ask it to be.

We can define the levels of access and in the report as well we can define which level has access to what section of a report so it becomes easier to control the data visibility. Collaboration makes it easier to share the model across organization

One of the points that the collaboration cannot help is a cloud security issue since we can share the URL of the folder/file so friends or people on your team can access it so that URL is not protected, I believe that anyone can access and copy files or folders from the path.
