What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams combines video conferencing software with team collaboration tools. The communications platform allows MS Office users to conduct conference calls and share files via SharePoint, and join or initiate a group chat.

Microsoft Teams features three tiers of pricing. The first is a subscription-less, free option that offers the same features as the other two tiers but does not offer administration tools like analytics and access to on-premise servers, or support features like 24/7 phone and web support. The second and third tiers are based on the size of your business and its conferencing needs. Its “Office 365 Business Premium” option starts at $12.50 a month per user, with a required annual commitment, and its “Office 365 E3” option for enterprises starts at $20 a month per user, also with a required annual commitment.

Key Features
Meetings: Meet with teams of 10 or 10,000. Host audio, video, and web conferences with anyone inside or outside your organization or go big with live events.

Calling: Its Phone System feature enables PBX capabilities including call control in Office 365 and replaces on-premises PBX. Its calling features are customizable to fit your organization’s unique needs.

Microsoft Teams is being used by our organization for virtual meetings, sharing files/documents, and chat purposes. This software is used by our whole organization. As due to Covid we are all working from home, it's very necessary to get connected and all information shared should be private so it helps us maintain proper passage.
  • We have a daily huddle over Teams.
  • Teams allows us to share any file and it helps to create different channels where we can upload our file so any new joiner can easily find documents.
Where Microsoft Teams is well suited:
  1. Teams help us to create huddle for discussing our daily tasks.
  2. Teams provides a secure communication path between our team members.
  3. Teams helps to create different channels for different departments and I can upload any files.

We use Microsoft Teams for virtual discussions while working remotely as well organising online training session for large number of participants and sometimes even for model reviews internally as well as externally. It's scope is increasing day by day especially during the pandemic years, MS teams took a major role in our daily professional life and as well as personal one. It's an easy to to communicate and share files among peers.
  • Sharing files with colleagues
  • Attending meetings/trainings
  • Using teams folder as drive files for projects
  • Screen Sharing
  • Voice quality
As mentioned earlier, there is little scope for improvement so I kept it 9/10.
Else everything is fine, time to time updates would keep the ms teams workable. On the head of that, Ms teams is smooth to use, easy to understand and manageable.
Best way to communicate in virtual office.

We use Microsoft Teams for our Internal and External Virtual meetings. This was really useful during the pandemic since we have to do everything virtually. We were able to deliver projects also using Teams Virtual meetings
  • Events and Meeting Setup
  • File share
  • Meeting minutes
  • Meeting Recordings
  • When using Teams for long hours sometimes application get stuck
  • Data use for Video is high
  • Notification sometime doesn't appear
Well Suited for Organizing virtual meetings. Data usage of turning on video is sometime not very suitable

I like to use it to work in a collaborative project. I would say there are some issues with the way it’s organized. The tabs on the hand left side are useful but sometimes confusing.
  • Meetings
  • Calls
  • For sharing files
  • When answering calls, the Color of the phone call symbol should be green
  • Layout of tabs
  • A way to enable Offline option anytime
It is good when you have multiple participants on a call works and it works better than Zoom and is online. Less appropriate when you are trying to not answer a message and by accident you open it, there should be an option that we can enable the unseen feature.

My organization switched to Microsoft Teams a few years ago. It has some great collaboration features. My favorite is to documentation repository for Teams to access and create lists. It has made access to documents across the organization easy. I do wish Microsoft Teams allowed notification in a List. For example, I created a list to track issues for a system, Microsoft Teams did not send a notification to the recipient when a record was added. I also wish it allowed assigning multiple recipients to a record.
  • Creating a document repository such as meeting minutes, document sharing
  • Creating a list for any purpose of tracking
  • Ability to call and connect to personnel
  • Access to organization calendar
  • Ability to add multiple recipients to a list
  • Notification via email when a document is uploaded or a record is added to a list
  • Ability to clear out chat permanently
Microsoft Teams is well suited for collaboration and access to team calendars and documents. My personal favorite is recording a meeting and transcript creation. This is perfect to go back and review discussions and screens. I do wish meeting recordings were downloadable to all attendees and not just the host.

We currently use Microsoft teams as our internal communication and collaboration platform. From having team channels, to team/individual calls/meetings and notifications to integrate with other tools. It is giving us a place to easily share/store files with our team and others in the organization. It does also give us a way to have meetings internally.
  • File sharing and storage
  • Organized channels/chats
  • Small group/team video meetings
  • Larger team meetings and events (audio/video quality isnt the best and not user friendly)
  • When creating a teams channel, it should have a check to make sure another distribution list or email isn't already created with the same name
  • More levels of access so changes aren't dependent on overall admins
I think if you do not currently have a collaboration tool or phone system. Teams can do both of those things (collaboration a lot better than for their software, but, not their phone platform necessarily). It can integrate with a lot of the current contact centers out there so it gives you the option to still be flexible there.

We use Microsoft Teams as our primary collaboration and communications platform with various departments of the company. It is also used for building teams' documents and providing a centralized location for document repository and a bridge to the Microsoft SharePoint document repository.
  • Collaboration Tool for chat service
  • Collaboration tool for Virtual meeting rooms and virtual video conduct meetings
  • Use as a primary desk phone call within the organization and also outside the organization (vendors such as Microsoft).
  • Provide better call quality on cellular network
  • Facial recognition when speaking with zooming in on the person capabilities.
  • Integrate better virtual whiteboard capabilities such as sticky notes for Scrum meetings as an example.
Microsoft Teams are suited in every industry when we have a worldwide pandemic situation. It also provides companies to collaborate in real-time from anywhere and thus giving the employee and employers to be in real-time regardless of their location. Life and Harmony balance!

We use Microsoft Teams for team communication (IM, channels) and meetings - its primary function it fills in our organization. However, Microsoft Teams is highly integrated in all everyday tasks, particularly in file management. We utilize the ability to make team channels to segregate files among certain teams both internally and externally. All files typically are also synced with Teams' integration of OneDrive and Sharepoint.
  • Virtual meetings seamlessly integrated with outlook
  • Messaging channels for individual teams
  • File management within restricted teams
  • Large meetings with breakouts (breakout rooms are static, cannot move attendees between rooms)
  • Easier ability to invite external vendors to team channels
  • UI for file viewing (i.e. open in another window)
Microsoft teams is well suited for day-to-day small virtual meetings with simple tasks. Screen sharing is easy and simple breakout rooms is easy. Even integration with Miro or whiteboard is simple. Teams also shines with the ability to create separate channels for different teams. File management and syncing with sharepoint and OneDrive is also good.

Microsoft Teams is our primary communication tool within the organization. It helps us a lot, especially during this pandemic, to communicate from home. We are able to chat, call, and have our team meetings with this tool. This also helps the management monitor their employees if they are working.
  • Helps us communicate within the organization
  • Great tool for team meetings while working from home
  • Noise cancellation features while on a call or meeting
  • It's lag sometimes even when there's good connection
  • More background effects
  • It would be great if you get a notification that has the name of the user who has muted you during a meeting
Even when working on the site or at home, Microsoft Teams would still be helpful in communicating within the organization. My job requires me to always stay in my workstation to answer calls from clients so when I need to communicate with another employee, I am able to without leaving my workstation.

For talking and planning meetings, Microsoft Teams is utilized as the official communicator. It's incredibly easy to plan a session from Office and distribute the Teams conference invite instantly because it's linked with Microsoft Outlook. It also enables group chats and group calls, which allow team members to communicate with one another outside of planned sessions.
  • Excellent audio and visual control, as well as video control quality.
  • It has useful extensions, such as a form, for creating inquiries and receiving feedback.
  • Searching for personnel in a company is something I'm skilled at.
  • Excellent calendar syncing with Outlook.
  • Any integration method for calling Skype subscribers is required.
  • Form extension needs to be improved.
The finest circumstances for which Microsoft Teams is perfectly suited are urgent catch-ups or huddles. We can quickly select the optimum schedule or time slot that matches all participants' schedules with the scheduling helper. It enables communication and collaboration so much simpler, and I'm grateful to have Microsoft Teams as a major platform for my company.

Microsoft Teams is used as the internal communicator for chatting and scheduling meetings. Since it’s integrated with Microsoft Outlook, it very easy to schedule a meeting from Outlook and share the Teams meeting invite automatically. It also supports group chats and group calls which helps to instantly connect with team members other than scheduled meetings.
  • Chats and calls
  • Meetings
  • Group chats or discussions
  • I can’t really think of anything
It’s well suited for large organizations as a main communicator tool where people can easily search for team members and chat or call instantly. Can schedule meetings which can be video or audio meetings. Also groups can be created for an project based or discussion based I.e creating bridges for discussions and collaboration.

We conduct online lessons through Microsoft Teams. During the world pandemic of Covid 19, it help cub physical contact which help reduce the spread of the virus. Microsoft teams permit you to have distant virtual gatherings inside your group, or between clients exclusively. You can screen share, join telephone calls, or hold a video meeting for colleagues to join. They can be planned early or made on the spot. Something extraordinary about Teams gatherings is that they can be recorded and saved to Microsoft Stream as a possibility for others to see later or reference. This can be utilized for directions, instructional courses, and learning.

  • live events

This gives a joint effort stage to instructors and understudies to impart content to a natural look and feel to a customary homeroom. Educators can use an extraordinary OneNote component called Class Notebook that gives every understudy a private journal that is simply apparent to themselves and the instructor. Understudies can likewise team up on OneNote pages together as they work on activities or gathering tasks. Moreover, the Assignments include permitting educators to both relegate and grade understudy schoolwork, set due dates, and afterward understudies can carefully turn in these tasks and view their grades.

Microsoft Teams is one of my organization's main communication platform. We use it for meetings, file sharing/collaboration, and instant messaging. Utilizing this tool has helped my whole organization work more efficiently and productively. Checking calendars and scheduling calls are easy and hassle-free. Team spaces for different projects are also very useful and helps a lot with team collaboration.
  • Microsoft Teams does great in helping users schedule meetings. With the scheduling assistant, I can easily see available time slots of all attendees before setting up meetings. It has helped a lot to lessen back and forths just to find a schedule that fits all.
  • Microsoft Teams makes it possible to have team spaces with third party providers/agencies whom we commission to work on different projects. It makes collaboration with people outside my organization a lot easier.
  • Microsoft Teams video and audio quality during meetings are always something I appreciate. Considering the relatively low bandwidth it requires, quality is great and makes meetings/communication experience better.
  • Creating breakout rooms during meetings is definitely something Microsoft Teams can improve on. I usually encounter errors/bugs and people get kicked out of their breakout room randomly.
  • Advanced screen sharing can also be improved. There are times when presenter view can be seen by participants in the meeting. It would be useful if portion of screen sharing is possible.
  • Chat notifications sometimes come late or not at all. Would help if there are customizable settings on notifications so we can control based on our preferences.
Urgent catch ups or huddles are the best scenarios when Microsoft Teams is very well suited. With the scheduling assistant, we can easily find the best schedule or time slot that fits all attendees' calendars. It makes communication and collaboration so much easier and I appreciate having Microsoft Teams as one of my organization's key platform.

  • Team meeting and Video calling

MS Teams is the perfect tool when it comes to collaboration for remote-working teams and project work. As we are building on a Microsoft Active Directory it is available to everyone with an MS account. Before we had the problem of duplicate file management and "email ping pong". Now we have a tool that addresses several aspects of effective collaboration (commenting, sharing files, working in the same document with several people).
  • Collaboration in MS Excel, Powerpoint, and Word with different people at the same time
  • Chat, comment and alert functions
  • Video calls with tools like notes or whiteboards
  • Easy integration of other MS tools like One Note, Project etc.
  • The Wiki is not yet searchable which is a real pity

I use it to exchange messages with colleagues, for meetings, to share screen and documentation. Also to address major/minor incidents quickly and easily. We use it for phone internal and external phone calls. We use it to create groups of discussions for projects in which we can share files related to the project.

  • Phone calls
  • Audio quality
  • Use less laptop ressources
  • Integrate troubleshooting tools natively
Well suited: meeting, calls, file sharing, group of discussion, work with internet directly, no need to be connected to the corporate network to have access. Less suited: Need an excellent internet connexion otherwise quality can have issues (audio and video).

I have been using Microsoft Teams for 6 years. It is a great tool for communication and collaboration in an organization. It provides everything needed for messaging, conferencing, and file sharing. It is the best tool for a virtual office, where we can suppress background noise while working from home. Microsoft Teams gives me a platform where I can work with other employees in my company on video conferencing and share files, chat in a group, and many other features.
  • Easy-to-use daily enterprise communication tool. It made me very productive while working from home.
  • Group communication software that brings together texts, voice, and video calls in the same place.
  • Screen sharing feature is very useful and remote control makes working with peers easy.
  • It requires a good internet connection to run fast
  • Sometimes it works slowly and you get logged out of your session
  • Searching the history chat is quite time consuming
While working from home, Microsoft Teams makes communication at work very effective. It is a great collaboration tool. We can record sessions for the future as well. Its chat feature of emojis, GIFs, and reactions gives me ways of expressing and thinking.

Microsoft Teams is used in our organization for internal communication via Chat, Voice calls, and Video calls. Microsoft Teams is also used for other collaboration tools like creating teams groups and sharing data within the Groups. Microsoft Teams is also connected to the share point which is a very helpful feature to keep all our documents in a single teams space.
  • Instant Messaging
  • Voice Calls
  • Video Calls
  • Scheduling Meetings
  • Building Teams Spaces
  • Found a bug where Microsoft Teams suddenly drops during an ongoing call even if there is no network issue from either end
  • Screen sharing is also buggy. When we share our desktop screen on MS Teams the taskbar disappears and it's difficult to navigate through apps.
  • There is a limit to PIN 15 chats a favourites. This count should be increased.
Microsoft Teams is useful in the following scenarios. 1. It's useful for instant messaging where you can seamlessly connect with your colleagues using the chat feature. 2. Presence\Availability status of the colleagues can be seen which could be useful in deciding whether it's the right time now to contact the other person. 3. It can be used for making voice and video calls. 4. It can be used for presentation sharing.

While in a priorly in-office organization, we were forced to adapt to a new online world to adhere to pandemic-safety standards. Microsoft Teams was the platform of choice to assist in all co-working efforts. It allowed for group chats, private messages, and video calling to ensure we could communicate almost as effectively as the way the office has been.
  • Very much enjoyed sending gifs in chats.
  • We used video calls frequently with colleagues in other countries and did not have a problem.
  • I don't recall having qualms with Microsoft Teams.
I don't have any advice for improvement, I thought Microsoft Teams was easy to use with no training needed. The platform seemed to be set up in a manner where navigation came easily.

Please do not inform me about working with any meetings in Microsoft meeting the user interface is so bad I used 30 minutes to join because their link was broken. There was no way for me to join even if I use a link provided by my colleague it still uses the old cookie and totally destroys the way to join a meeting.
  • making interface harder for everyone to use
  • don't get a JOIN meeting button via conference code
  • never allow others to move on without the cookies rather get personal data than have others to allow us to join on meeting
  • Give us a "Join room" button with via conference call
  • fix the broken link that didn't allow me to join
  • stop cookies to get more personal data rather than letting us do what we want at the moment
This is such a good experience that I couldn't use more than 5 minutes to join a meeting room online. Broken link, hardcore cookies collecting data, disallow me to join via a link or without an account.

In my organization, we use Microsoft Teams to hold team meetings as well as communicate internally via the chat feature. The Microsoft Teams platform has helped our team stay in touch and communicate seamlessly regardless of location. The many features of Microsoft teams such as breakout rooms, meeting scheduling, and task assigning greatly improve productivity and team collaboration.
  • Seamless group conferencing.
  • Chat functionality.
  • Scheduled meetings.
  • Requires good internet connection.
  • Better in-meeting chat.
  • Group meeting mute function.
Microsoft Teams is a well-developed software for hosting virtual meetings. Microsoft Teams allows for audio and visual communication in both small and large-scale meeting environments. We used Microsoft Teams in our organization to keep communication flowing and to also hold team meetings. This platform really helped us keep things organized and get in touch with co-workers in a quick and timely manner. We were also able to host remote socials through this platform in the form of screen-sharing which was convenient to play games with our coworkers! I would recommend Microsoft Teams to anyone in the future!
  • Video Calls
  • Instant Messaging
  • Meeting Calendar
  • Adding people to meetings while in a meeting
When training a new employee remotely, it was easy to screen share so that you and the employee could work together on what was on the screen. This helped a lot.

My team and direct reports use teams to problem solve and communicate major changes in schedule. Our national organization uses teams also to create groups and share files quickly. The ease of use and how you can add to a conversation is what makes eams work well. We actually moved away from Slack into Teams because of the integration of Microsoft Outlook and our organization.
  • Looking at shared files.
  • Reaching out to other co-workers across national organization.
  • Making quick decisions on the spot with team.
  • More reaction emojis.
  • More ways to mute for a time period of a group.
  • Voice memo option.
Where Microsoft Teams is well suited is for larger companies or organizations that need to communicate in groups or working teams to accomplish tasks, projects, and tactical objectives. Scenarios, where it is less appropriate, are in larger or major objectives that need a longer or more "brainstorm" appropriate space like Zoom or using Miro as a board to come up with results.

Microsoft Teams is the application which i use for team interaction as both text and video/voice. It is is the best application so far inter/intra communication within the organisation and outside the organisation. Also it is one tool for all things like desktop sharing, file transfer, text and audio/video communication. It is also collaborated with Outlook and other major application for calender and other purpose.
  • It is application for communication in terms of text, voice and video
  • It is one tool for data sharing or file transfer
  • It also works fine for share sharing and meeting scheduled and meeting remainder
  • Also integerted with other application like Yammer and organisation
  • It behave it needs an improvement in mobile platform, usability of Teams for mobile device is not much friendly
  • Voice communication need better software for voice lagging and sometimes voice clarity is not good
  • Screen sharing also need refinement, other end user need to wait for more than 10sec for share to display
It is base suited for environmental which need everything in place/as in one application. Because Microsoft Teams is the entity for everything like chat communication, data transfer, desktop sharing, collaboration with other applications like Yammer, Wiki and office organisation Office 365. It may not suit for organisation which is looking for single entity and i belive Microsoft is also providing solutions for same.
