We struggle in a remote posture to get to know each other in a friendly and meaningful way. We use Yammer internally to get to know each other, and share funny pictures, recipes, and other light communications that don't require an email. It's a great way to get to know people in a nice and friendly way!
  • Comments and reactions.
  • Encourages participation.
  • Light and easy to use.
  • People can dread using it.
  • Lack of comfort in sharing personal info.
  • Can be burdensome.
Yammer is great when you have a company culture that encourages friendly collaboration and communication. It can be a great supplement (but certainly not a substitute) for bonding and sharing ideas and thoughts. Certain channels can be really successful, too, like a channel where people can post dog pictures or something fun like that!

Our organization uses Yammer for both impromptu meetings and scheduled conference calls. The ease and accountability with which every conversation can be documented and understood are immense. It is a great tool for sharing ideas and information within our organization. We will continue to utilize Yammer for the foreseeable future. Thank you.
  • Clear documented conversations.
  • Easy to connect with coworkers.
  • Consistent platform performance.
  • Not all external partners have this platform.
  • Some users are turned off by the social-media-like interface.
Our organization relies on consistency and reliability for successful relationships, and this platform has provided those qualities and then some. At the same time, not all of our partners utilize this software, those who do have had great success with establishing a baseline to share ideas and thoughts with each other. We will continue to use this software for the foreseeable future.

Our company has been using this product as it encourages employees to not be distracted by other social networks. It keeps the work and social activities to be going in hand within the organization. It helps the employees to be in a better space. The employees are free to share either professional or personal posts over the network and it brings a more relaxing experience to the employees and team meats. it also helps to have better communication with other teams as well.
  • Cross app communication
  • dynamic communication
  • Activity trackers
  • Cross app communication UI
  • Better time management using more detailed time stamps
  • Work on UX
It is more of a social network but limited to the workspace. It can be entertaining and professional at the same time. It helps in better maintaining the decorum of the organization and also helps to enhance productivity within the organization. It can be one of the best platforms that more and more organizations can adopt to prefer people avoid other social networks in the workplace.

Yammer has been at Manhattan Associates for over 2 years. It is used across the globe and across all departments so that we can work more effectively and efficiently. Key initiatve to break down silos, help departments work together, find answers when we don't always know who to ask.
  • Easy to set up, easy to work with, each to use. Not much of a learning curve, which makes it easy to get rolling in your organization.
  • Works with text, photos, videos, files.
  • In the cloud, and on mobile.
  • Would be helpful to edit a post once it's been published (correcting typos, adding a few more sentences rather than start another post)
  • Mobile app is good, but not as robust of an experience with critical needs such as "search" and accessing Yammer Notes
  • When files are uploaded, there is no way to organize/view them say by alphabetical title, author, etc.
Well suited to have one place for many people to collaborate and contribute. Project teams can use it as a online repository, hold discussions that people can get to on their time, reduce the need for distribution list email blasts, give public praise to team members.

Yammer is implemented at our institution as another avenue for employees to connect and create engagement. This was implemented prior to the 2020 pandemic but has been accelerated in its use since.
  • It integrates into Office 365
  • It provides company-wide connection on one platform
  • It has mobile and desktop support
  • It competes with tools present in other Office 365 products
  • While integrated, it isn't intuitively accessible from multiple points in the ecosystem
  • Other products achieve Yammer's outcomes in better ways
If you are an organization that does not allow social integrations to your technology tools, Yammer provides a good option that allows for some engagement activities while limiting exposure to tools outside the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

MS Yammer is currently utilized at my organization to ease interdepartmental communications between various users.
The ease of use affords users to keep their respective email inboxes a bit cleaner. Yammer has also been utilized as a social medium to keep users apprised of events and updates in other departments across the country.
  • User interface.
  • Ease of use.
  • Adaptability.
  • Lack of integration with other MS Office.
Yammer is well-suited to serve as an internal social media platform for company events.
The user interface and quick and response.

It is not appropriate for detailed, in-depth conversations.

We use Microsoft Yammer to promote group an inter-group collaboration as well as a means to share the latest news.
  • Integrates extremely well with a range of MS applications like Office and SharePoint.
  • Easy to integrate with 3rd party sides.
  • Adoption by colleagues could take some time as not many have heard of it.
Microsoft Yammer is well suited for enterprise collaboration groups.

We use Yammer as a company bulletin board. We share new employee hires and resignations, company successes, and areas for improvement, process flows, and documents, region or team-specific news and more. The entire company uses Yammer. We have a range of all-company forums based on category and several department-specific forums. Using Yammer allows us to share information with the company without it getting lost in email inboxes. We find it better it a better tool for information that has a long life or needs to be referred back to at a later time, compared to using instant messaging tools like Slack (which we use for briefer announcements).
  • Email notifications for posts you have missed/might be of interest to you. Prompts you to open up Yammer and see missed announcements. This helps you keep up to date.
  • Stable application, rarely (if any) downtime which is important if you want staff to regularly refer back to it.
  • Historical posts are stored and can easily be accessed. This means it can be used as a repository and new staff members can read past announcements.
  • It needs better search functionality. It should allow you to filter search records by date or users or groups.
  • Bland user interface. It's a clean interface, but the design could be uplifted. Might help with user engagement if the design was modernized.
  • No clear way of organizing groups in the navigation menu which makes it hard to easily find groups you have to access.
  • You can add members to a group, but you have to search for members by name. It would be good if it could show all company members not in the group so you can invite members you think should be in the group.
We are a company with 50 employees with seven different departments. It helps us communicate across the company as well as departmental messages. Good for storing process related messages and documents. We encourage new employees to read through the history of specific groups so they understand processes, decisions, and actions.

Microsoft Yammer is being used across our whole organization. Our main use of Yammer is to get people involved with our different employee network groups. We’ve found it to be a great collaborative solution where we can give individuals the opportunity to work and chat with people they may not have the opportunity too on a daily basis.
  • It creates great collaboration.
  • Easy method to stay in constant contact with other employees.
  • It creates a casual, yet professional environment for people to share ideas.
  • The UI isn’t the greatest.
  • We’d like to see my updates to the platform to work out some kinks.
  • Allow more customization by companies.
Microsoft Yammer is well suited for a collaborative environment where employees have the opportunity to work with one another in a very casual way. It is less appropriate when using the platform for very serious conversations. We’ve found it to be more of an instant messaging software, so we would recommend staying away from it if it needs to be more than that for your organization.

Yammer is our hub for social networking within the company, allowing for sharing of various internal news from sales team wins through to birthdays. We are broken up into various groups from "Product Q&A" to "Animals" ensuring there is an open forum for news and discussion across the company.
  • Providing a platform for social news in the company where "bottom up" topics can percolate freely across department
  • Social networking across the company where folks can divide their work into topics instead of teams
  • Basic collaboration within a group including document sharing with ability to pin documents to a team
  • User experience in Yammer, while improving on mobile, has been stagnant for years - it's the same product since 2014
  • Integration with the other O365 features - such as O365 groups - is completely lacking
  • It competes with other Microsoft products (Microsoft Teams, Kaizala) for collaboration tools
Yammer provides a social network experience for the enterprise, providing a "Facebook for work". Its mobile app provides an excellent user experience, showing the full mix of communications happening across topics and teams. The web app, while it hasn't evolved much in the last few years, provides a good experience consuming news. Personally, I use Yammer every morning to see what's happening across my company and comment, like, and share to interact across silos.

As long as the size of the network inside of Yammer is managed - likely partitioning a large organization into business units, etc., - then Yammer provides an excellent platform for social news and "bottom up" collaboration across teams. Its free-form posting style, including articles and polls for interactive content, helps break down silos across the organization. Contrasted with the boring world of email, Yammer is a tantalizing world of pictures, GIFs, and videos.

At LiveTiles, we share company and team news via Yammer, enabling others to see the progress and milestones - from a new office to a new customer - without the heavy burden of a company newsletter or similarly curated content. Even though we have fully adopted Teams for day-to-day, intra-team communication, Yammer is still the gold standard for inter-team communication.

We used Yammer for departmental communication and collaboration. It helped us organize related project ideas and notify each other of changes. Now Microsoft Teams has mostly replaced the work we used to do in Yammer.
  • Social tagging
  • Organization of project ideas
  • File sharing
  • Seems less robust than Microsoft Teams
  • One more communication tool to use
  • Notifications don’t always work
Yammer makes sense when you need to quickly collaborate with different groups of people. It probably makes less sense if you already use a similar platform or if you need a more robust project management/file storage option.

Yammer is used across the enterprise - Both Unum employees, Colonial Life's parent company, and Colonial Life employees use Yammer to engage with one another in a more casual setting. Rather than bombarding inboxes with emails, employees post on Yammer for company events, congratulations and relevant life updates. Groups are also formed for specific committees and resource groups. Yammer is used for a hub of updates and keeping people in the loop without having to read lengthy emails.
  • Keeping employees connected across the enterprise
  • The use of gifs and images
  • Private message option
  • I think the news feed should be updated chronologically, not by post "relevance" like many other social channels do now
Yammer is great for segmenting your audiences. If you want only one specific group of people to see a post, say, those following Corporate Social Responsibility, you're able to tailor your post to those followers. Yammer is a new form of communication for the workplace - instead of sending stale, formal emails, Yammer gives you the ability to add gifs, emojis, and images to spice up your announcement or even make a flu shot event seem more fun.

I think it's best used for more casual announcements. I don't think it's appropriate to post something all employees NEED to see, like a fire drill announcement, because not everyone who needs to see it may see it.

It's still a struggle getting all our employees signed up for Yammer. While the process is easy, there was a lot of pushback because there are so many channels of communication in place already. We have maybe half of all employees on Yammer now. It's progress, but we may never have everyone signed up.

Yammer helps me and the rest of my team share and communicate in an efficient and timely manner. We can start topics, share insights, and collaborate easily. With users around the world, we are all often not online at the same time. Yammer lets us share our thoughts and idea, then get feedback from those working around the world.
  • Search
  • Organized threads
  • Easy File Share
  • Channels could be better labeled
  • Deleting can be difficult
  • As with all similar products, tone is lost
Yammer is a great way for storing tribal knowledge about the team, the customers, and best practices. Yammer has a great search ability, allowing users to go back and find old topics and articles. Yammer may not be the best tool for brainstorming or nuanced conversations as the tone is lost and the feed is very linear.

We are in the very early stages of implementation and have yet to decide to do it. Until recently, data for Yammer was only stored in the USA which was a nogo for us as a European company. For the initial testing/proof of concept we are doing the collaboration and communication features are good but we haven't decided on it yet.
  • Communication on Yammer is great.
  • Being an enterprise social media tool, it is only valuable if you actually want that for your company.
  • There is a learning curve for using Yammer. It is not as straight forward as I expected.
  • I suspect when a lot of people use it, it can become hard to keep up on all of it.
If you want social media for your enterprise with good communication and collaboration features, Yammer can be your product. If you don't want to provide a platform for potential distraction, Yammer is not it.

With the purchase of Office 365 Essentials, users can communicate using Yammer with other users for quick questions.
  • Integrates with other Office products
  • Small amount of computer resources
  • I enjoy using Yammer for work communications. I really don't have any improvements that I can think of.
Small company setting where people know each other. If it is a large corporation, it could get annoying with too many people sending messages to each other.

For teams to share successes and recognition, organize company events, and dialogue on best practices across the organization. From entry-level to the executive level, everyone goes to Yammer for help, to help others, and to get the latest company information. We also run remote groups and social events through Yammer.
  • Easy to navigate
  • Fun to comment/interact
  • Focused on uniting individuals
  • Reactions instead of just likes.
  • Track sub-threads more clearly.
Great for medium or large groups where Teams is too insular to include everyone.

There are many churches spread across Vermont and when we transitioned to a new database, we used Yammer as a way to communicate questions and information so that all could see. This was more helpful than using email because we could see if our question had already been asked and answered
  • Easy to use- While training for a new database, we used Yammer to ask questions and it was great that it was so easy to use
  • not sure where they could improve

Microsoft Yammer is being used to connect grade levels across multiple school buildings within our district. It allows teachers that do not always see each other to share ideas and resources without it being lost in the day to day hustle and bustle.
  • The feed allows you to see what is going on at a time that is convenient for you.
  • You can join into conversations, like, reply, in a way that is comfortable for you when time allows.
  • Easy to share resources and information with colleagues.
  • Poll staff as needed to gather opinions.
  • Organization Layout, maybe some ability to add more organization, such as color coding, etc.
Microsoft Yammer is able to be used to help connect staff that may not otherwise network with one another. Resources being shared that would allow for teachers to save time and be able to see some ideas of what colleagues are doing. I think it would not be appropriate for one person that would like to share between another, I think its more for a group connection.

Used on our internal communications page by all company members to post events, personal updates and whatever else is going on with team members. Framed into our Share Point site as a scroll on the right side. Updates can come from anyone and anyone else can comment on posts made.
  • Easy to read panel
  • Similar to other feeds
  • Clean UI
  • Should be able to hide comments on posts
  • Can't change font color
  • Similar to every other post service
It works fine but there is nothing unique about it, looks and feels like every other posting service. If you are used to using any other service this is good because it looks like the other ones. Should gain good traction from users since it is easy to use and figure out.

My entire organization adopted Microsoft Yammer as a part of our shift to using the new suite of Office 365 applications exclusively. Microsoft Yammer has helped to streamline communication and collaboration across different organizations and serves as one of the primary ways that people connect on a range of projects, programs, and other initiatives. In addition, associates use the tool for discussion around general topics, shared interests, and to ask questions.
  • I enjoy being able to see an entire conversation thread between associates and that those comments and responses found a most useful filter to the top of a conversation.
  • I like the additional features and functionality you can leverage within Yammer such as "Announcements" and how well Yammer groups integrate with respective SharePoint sites it might be associated with.
  • Yammer is very easy to navigate and is user-friendly, making it easy to scale to new users who are not familiar with the platform.
  • While Yammer is easy to use overall, it does have some quirks and can be a little limiting in what you can do within the app itself.
Yammer helps spur collaboration and networking across our entire organization. We have associates that work at several locations across the globe so Yammer serves an important function in bridging the distance between people. Microsoft Yammer is thus well-suited to bring different groups of stakeholders across different organizations and locations together to collaborate around shared initiatives or interests.

Yammer is used throughout many (not all) departments within my organization. Our company is considered a printing manufacturer, digital marketing agency, and marketing solutions partner. Yammer is primarily used within our corporate teams - and is primarily used for breaking down communication barriers between departments. My department most often uses Yammer in order to create collaborative content for other employees across different locations in the company. I am a corporate trainee in a rotational role - and I often use Yammer in order to keep myself updated with other members of my team. Yammer offers a way to collaborate within a tool that is modeled strongly after other social networking platforms. For a group of trainees that are in a younger demographic, Yammer works really well for quickly understanding the tool. I often use Yammer in order to message other trainees, respond to polls, and network across our company. I have really enjoyed Yammer and view it more as a communication tool for a smaller to mid-sized group of individuals.
  • Yammer is modeled after the social-networking generation. The platform does a great job of being user-friendly with efficient communication.
  • Yammer is extremely easy to use. End-user training should be relatively straight-forward.
  • Very robust networking opportunities within an organization.
  • As it is modeled after a social-networking tool, Yammer runs the risk of straying too far from a business productivity tool.
  • Layout customization is rather limited. There are other tools that offer more company-customization more effectively.
  • Sharing and editing documents have quite a few limitations. There are many other online editors that can do work more efficiently and effectively.
Yammer does a great job of creating a sense of informal community within a business unit. It also seems to do a pretty good job of building team-rapport while breaking down communication barriers. One can easily upload a document and collaborate with others across states and internationally. Yammer is very well suited for networking opportunities and allows others to follow specific individuals or groups of business units.

On the other hand, Yammer can potentially err too much on the side of a social networking tool. There can be instances where this tool can actually cause slower productivity amongst employees. One has to be more careful due to the 'facebook-like' nature of this tool. Therefore, it is extremely important to have moderators who can help guide discussions and keep people relatively on-task during business hours.

It is used company-wide for announcements and building smaller communities.
  • User-friendly social media within the company
  • Fosters the formation of communities across the company
  • Easy to push out announcements without spamming inboxes
  • Sometimes it is not easy to search for past posts
  • Can be perceived as more for fun rather than corporate
It is good if properly/responsibly used to create communities across the company, rather than hoping that it would happen on its own. And instead of dealing with cumbersome email distribution lists, announcements can be made at a click of a button.

Microsoft Yammer is used for the general direction of communication, dissemination and information of the company.

It is being used for the fulfillment of the following tasks: issuing of official communications to the staff, establishing communications between the executives of the company, organizing the logistics for the operation of business and personal events, publishing relevant and confidential information. Thanks to Yammer, the company has managed to strengthen the communication among the staff, obtaining favorable results through the optimization of the processes.
  • Transmit information in real time, and fluidly.
  • Encourages the collaboration and spontaneous participation from all, because all users are able to contribute ideas and knowledge.
  • Contributes to the cohesion of all personnel--personally I feel included in the decisions of the company, because my contributions are taken into account.
  • Promotes the initiation of productive communications, the possibility of sharing knowledge and experiences and of creating work teams to meet particular situations.
  • I do not like the communications interface, I think they should improve the image, they should carry out a usability study in order to adapt the programs to different clients.
  • It requires an excellent internet connection so that you can share documents, images or files with a lot of content, being in field work.
  • Must offer a more creative and innovative image with aims that boost the creative sense of the staff.
It adapts very well in companies that want to maintain a privileged and secure communication, which allows the transmission of confidential information. It adapts very well as a means of corporate communication because it provides ideal job options for the presentation of results or communications in a simple way. It adapts very well as a means of communication for the organization of major events, and to establish communication at a distance in a fluid way.

It is not well adapted for the exclusive use of an exclusively personal communication network, considering that it is a work tool.

As a part of Microsoft 365 subscription Yammer is using across the whole organization.
Marketing, HR and some other departments are not into another "team messagers", so through Yammer all departments can be notified with a important / interesting information. Yammer provides an effective way of communication in both small and large groups of people at one time. It's kinda like a company's "Facebook"
  • Office365 content is shared with others
  • Communication across the whole organization
  • Acccess to private content
  • Outlook integration
  • UI is old
  • UX is not perfect
  • Mobile app is not user friendly
It has no impact on staff performance and even evades our attention. Tech staff is using different apps, so this is yet another messager for them - almost total ignorance of using this solution.

We used it as a tool to help our department keep up to date with ongoing daily operations. It replaced the daily stand up for us predominately, and also served as a great way to quickly get out information to a large group of people.
  • Sharing Office365 content with others
  • Communicating with others in our group
  • Communicating with the entire organization
  • More powerful search/filtering would be nice
It served as a great benefit as a corporate social network. It made daily stand ups near obsolete and we were able to always keep a constant line of communication open with the team.
