Yammer is great!
I like how Yammer has functions that are fun and interactive, which can give you much more to do than using Teams or even Microsoft Forms. Yammer helps people feel included and gives people a better sense of how their friends and co-workers are feeling on certain issues. Yammer is a lot more like a social media platform than a work tool even!

Yammer - Great if it's the only tool you use.

Yammer is very rudimentary as a broadcast tool and team notification. I has been surpassed in functionality and usefulness by all the other apps listed.

A great tool for enterprise communications

Microsoft Yammer - Social Networking for the Enterprise
Yammer's biggest competition is definitely Workplace by Facebook. Both provide a "post, like, share" social network experience adapted to an enterprise paradigm. Both provide real-time chat on top of that to drive collaboration. Both have lightweight content management to manage documents and files shared with posts.
Yammer's big strength is that it's already bundled with Office 365. For anyone already of O365, there should be no reason to leave when Yammer is more than enough.
Facebook by Workplace has a superior user experience - at least a more familiar user experience. The fact that 99% of employees will already have exposure to Facebook means it's zero training to adopt.

We now use Microsoft Teams for chatting and project communication and it is more effective than Yammer. I do not find a use for Yammer any longer.

Yammer is an Effective Communication Tool

Salesforce Chatter was the initial product we tested as we already use Salesforce throughout the organization. We thought it would be a natural fit. However, we found it was difficult to keep the many groups, thoughts and ideas separate in Chatter, with many of our topics getting lost or directed to the wrong people. Additionally, Salesforce's Chatter search functionality leaves a lot to be desired.

Pretty easy to use
We used Share Point currently and in the past would post things there, Yammer is a little better because people are used to seeing a feed scroll and Share Point did get ignored after a while. PostS tend to get stale there quicker since the format is not as appealing.
There are few good alternatives to Microsoft Yammer that serve up the same functionality and allow for networking to the same extent. Prior to Yammer, we used an internal tool which was clunky and did not meet our companies needs. Yammer has proven to be much more successful and user-friendly and has been widely adopted as a result.
- Chatter
Salesforce Chatter and Yammer can often be used in very similar ways. Both offer the ability to collaborate with team-members in real-time. Furthermore, both tools offer ability to share, comment, and network across organizations. One issue with Yammer is that it feels a bit more secluded from other business productivity tools compared to a tool like Chatter. Chatter is more integrated within the platform, where Yammer feels more individual and separate as a business application.

Yammer: far from a spammer
Each app serves a different purpose even though there may be some overlap. Yammer is a little like Facebook and one can create, join, or find communities, and many people are familiar with Facebook. Slack works with channels and there are some people who are not as familiar with that. But as they are, Yammer can be perceived as for fun, while Slack appears to be better for collaborative conversations.
Yammer is a comprehensive program with enough tools to meet the responsibilities of the company, because it is easier to use and offers more creative and innovative work tools.
The company decided to select Yammer over other programs because Yammer is safer and more prestigious professional. Its tools are better elaborated and its design is ideal for the management of corporate character communications.
Yammer in comparison to other programs does not demand a connection to the internet of quality to work its applications, being very positive when we work in the field.

Yet another "space" across the organization
Yammer created very important and reliable social network across the whole company. We used to have MS SharePoint, but since Yammer became available via Office 365 we moved to Yammer.
IBM Connections is difficult to maintain + costs are higher.
Facebook for Business is a good alternative, but not every company wants to share information with FB.

Yammer - Easy collaboration for large and small
IBM Connections has a more mature set of features however it is expensive and difficult to maintain. Traditionally IBM Connections require an on-premise installation which required a large capital investment and an ongoing level of expertise to maintain. Although now IBM offers a cloud-based version of Connections, they are not easy to work with, especially for organizations with less than 10,000 users. Yammer is significantly cheaper and much easier to maintain.

The best social network to share jobs in the company
Basically, all these applications have the same functions, to share jobs and projects in real time and have functioned very similar to social networks that are used daily such as Facebook, Instagram, and others. Yammer was chosen because it is very easy to use, fast and safe.
The login integration to MS accounts was key. The concept of having to login with one additional account is no longer an attractive option. Yammer integrates to other MS logins for a seamless user experience. FB Business is a nice alternative, but Yammer being under the MS umbrella is a better overall fit with our other tools.

Decent product for small group use.
We currently use Salesforce which is much more robust in sharing knowledge base information. We also currently use teams' SharePoint and OneDrive to store information and files.
