(201-225 of 430)Abila's abilities are awesome!
- The Grant Management module allows you to track all projects, programs, and grants, including grant submissions, decisions, and grant funding amounts.
- A series of custom report templates allows you to easily create custom reports from scratch.
- All of your reports can be exported to Word, Excel, HTML, or PDF formats.
- The initial software is well worth the cost, but some of the additional modules would be nice to have, but are very pricey.
- Once the initial software and database has been created, some aspects cannot be changed.
MIP
- It simplifies financial reports that are needed.
- Makes processing payroll a breeze.
- Integrate Outlook contacts when sending reports.
- Wait time for support is too long.
Abila is the Gorilla of Non-Profit Accounting Systems
- MIP provides high level capability to handle payroll processing, manage bookkeeping, basic and advanced financial and accounting systems, and devise and revise budgets.
- MIP facilitates tax documentation, helps prepare financial statements, processes journal entries, handles insurance coordination, inventory overview, and coordinates periodic audits.
- MIP rates very high on all levels; however, update installations could perhaps be more streamlined.
Unhappy
- Provides lots of account detail.
- More user-friendly - it's taken years to figure out, plus classes to understand even simple things.
- Report writing is a whole science and very confusing. I'm never sure if the report is correct.
- You always get every account number, vendor or employee that's in the system when you are looking up for anything (like entering in an invoice or a journal entry etc.). It should have the ability to only see active accounts, vendors, etc.
- Would like a choice, maybe on the toolbar at the top, that's always available to be able to post. When you want to post anything you have to go pull up a screen that gives you that option. In the account balancing screen, there's one, that should always be on the toolbar.
- The drill down feature needs refining. Abila knows how it works so I'm not going to explain.
- In payroll reports are very cumbersome.
The Change We Needed
- We like the ability to drill into a financial report for the detail
- Exporting and importing from Excel are easy.
- Budget reporting for all of our departments and locations is easy.
- Transition from a previous version of MIP was easy and efficient. We hit the ground running with excellent local support from our representative.
- Data entry could be improved by adding the ability to insert a line into an entry.
- We feel like we are on our own after the initial setup. Questions and/or help always translate into more expense for us so we tend to just work around issues rather than asking for assitance from support or our local rep.
- I wish the entry screens worked more like spreadsheets. Highlighting a group of figures for a total and/or average would be extremely helpful.
Review of Online version
- AP entry - helps manage and prevent double entry and is very easy to review entries for payment.
- E-req ability - very easy to track; we have not recorded invoices when compared to POs outstanding.
- Payroll processing - very easy and direct to manage paychecks and direct deposits.
- Reporting financials for budget review. We have not found a clean way to double check the budget entry.
- Cloud based software loses connection and deletes settings a couple times a week.
- Printing functions for cloud based will sometimes pop in printers from different companies.
MIP Fund Accounting Review
- Accounts Payable is a major function and with MIP Fund Accounting we can track all payables by vendor, it helps keep vendor activity straight and we record by grant funds so we have multiple funds purchasing from one vendor and it is easy to see which fund paid what amount to a vendor.
- We currently have over 300 employees and with MIP Fund Accounting we can import our web timesheets saving our payroll clerk hours and hours of data entry for each payroll period.
- Monthly reports are easy to use and customize. I can create a report for a funding source with information another funding source may not want so I can easily manipulate the reports to best fit my needs.
- On vendor records, it would be good to able to change the 1099 status anytime during the year. Now if we change that status the system either includes all payments sent even though we changed it to not produce a 1099 or if we want it to produce one but the status was not correct we have to adjust the vendor balances rather than it pulling the information from the Vendor Payment Information.
- Recreating paycheck stubs would be beneficial.
GIRLS = Go Getters, Innovators, Risk Takers and Leaders use Abila MIP Fund Accounting
- Has a multi level chart of accounts structure that enables you to track transactional data to a source and specific activity level beyond the fund and departmental levels.
- Has an easily modifiable reporting function that enables you to easily drill down to the detail level of data as well as summary level of data.
- Is user friendly and fairly easy for staff level personnel to learn to use
- Development of integration with other systems that many of the councils are using, like the salesforce application used for membership transactional activity, and also the retail point of sales systems.
Abila Works
- Hosted MIP is easy to manage
- Saved reports are great for staff who don't use MIP often
- Exporting works pretty well
- Reports are somewhat hard to create
Accounts Payable Pitbull
- Reports are tailored for management. They are easily able to get info.
- Able to change GL coding instead of doing a journal entry so that the change is reflected immediately on system and then the incorrect entry is no longer shown.
- It is very accounting friendly.
- I think it is very cumbersome, too many tabs, places to go to get a simple task done.
- Voiding and credit memos are not user-friendly. Should just be able to both functions at the same time, same place.
- I'm not familiar with how to get help. I'd like some direction provided on what is available as a user to get questions answered. I don't know if an 800 number is out there, I just feel left a little hanging on all the things they provide.
Abila an ok Fund accounting software for non-profits
- Payroll
- Allows for as many funds as we have
- The tech support is very slow and it is hard to get in contact with support. The callback isn't scheduled and if you miss their call you have to start the process all over.
- Emailing reports out is very cumbersome since it doesn't integrate with Outlook, and each address has to be entered manually every time.
- Applying updates is also very tedious. The updates are not sent to the host and the link isn't always emailed out to you to apply to the software.
Very Limited for HR
- Fairly easy to use.
- When running the benefits wizard it does not give detailed information.
- After entering new employees, not all of the information shows up in the benefits wizard so that it can be proofed.
- Very limited in creating anything other than a canned report.
MIP is good finance program with good support.
MIP is a good finance program and we use it for that purpose. The impact is minimal since it works as it is supposed to and for long periods of time between problems.
- Finance expenses are tracked using the expenses module.
- Inventory control and tracking is used for our equipment oversight and expenses. Items over a certain amount get tagged while others under that amount get added to various groups.
- Reporting is key to our organization and MIP allows us to generate reports that track expenditures.
- MIP could be better prepared for connection to other programs that enhance its usage such as Gazelle and document management.
- MIP could be more user friendly on areas of reporting and account generation.
Great flexiblity and price point.
- Report writing flexibility. It allows us to track multiple accounts and allocate expenses to those accounts, and then to report individually or aggregately.
- It isn't particularly user friendly and has a steep learning curve.
Abila review
- Reporting capabilities and ability to span various time frames in reporting of financial information.
- Grant reporting.
- Robust system captures all activities. Unlike QuickBooks, the software cannot be easily manipulated. Provides a basis for strong internal controls.
- Report writing - not as intuitive as it could be. I have taken 2 - 1/2 day courses in report writing and still have not mastered the ability to develop a report from scratch. But, I am learning.
- Greater ease in developing import files through templates or better guidance from Abila.
- Help manuals are not always that easy to understand.
I am glad I chose Abila MIP Fund Accounting.
- Easy for audit
- Better to track net assets
- Year-end roll over
- Provides good financial statements
- I do not have any cons.
A very good accounting package for complicated and simple non-profit organizations.
- Keeping track of history for both vendors and customers. It allows for quick history searches when non-accounting employees need to know information for a particular vendor or customer.
- The check writing process is very good, and allows for memorized descriptions which can really cut down the time for data input.
- Invoice generation for customers is also very automated once billing groups and customers are initially entered.
- Their depreciation/amortization module is a bit confusing with the initial set-up, and the module doesn't calculate final entries to zero out the asset.
- We wish there were a few more short cuts when entering invoices, such as initially entering the amount to be paid at the top of the screen, and then letting the software automatically fill the in preset account code combination and the offset.
- The customer invoice generation process should allow for changing values of fixed amounts for charge codes within the entry of information (so you don't have to change a memorized charge code out of the process each time) this will save the user time.
MIP Review
- Customer service is excellent. With the assistance of customer service I have learned how to reverse and correct posting. I have learned how to set up reoccurring entries, and most recently I was sent a step by step guide to help me balance a bank statement that was causing me to pull my hair out!
- I like the way MIP Fund accounting handles credit cards and petty cash. This is in the cash activities and I am able to balance these accounts at any time. By using the reconciliation feature I can go into any of the cash accounts to verify if I entered a charge or a distribution quickly.
- I like the tips and shortcuts available in the help section. I was able to stream line payroll procedures from the tedious step by step process being used when I started my job a year ago.
- I love that you can create a custom report and save it for future use.
- One of the most difficult areas is finding the information I need. At times, when trying to create a report, I get error messages that simply do not make sense to me. I have called and received assistance, but in this area the assistance is often so rapid that I am not able to follow it (yet).
- I have had problems finding information when using the help section. Sometimes due to my not knowing the terminology used, but also due to the searching. I may find a paragraph, but not enough detail, which will be located elsewhere. Additionally, I have noticed that some of the help guides have not been updated/modified as to the related software that has been updated.
- In the last 2-3 months customer service has been difficult to reach. What use to be a relatively short wait has turned into hours and even days.
- 3 days ago I called and using the call back feature left a message. To my knowledge I have not received a return phone call, or an email message letting me know they tried contacting me.
The software allows a huge range of distribution over many different funding sources and services. If you need to carefully track your funding revenue and related expenses for several different revenue streams this is excellent.
If you are a small business with only one or two areas that you need or desire separation this program is much more than what you need.
Reporting life saver!
- Custom reporting options that are easy to use
- Ability to track costs at a very detailed level, far beyond just a grant and general ledger account code
- Ability to report on grants that have differing beginning and ending grant dates
- Ease in creating reports that are used for audits
- Ability to track expenses for participants on our social programs
- It's expensive to change or add reporting segments.
- Account codes, specifically Cash accounts, don't have a place in the setup to include the (bank) account number.
- Payroll liabilities are accrued in PR, but when transferred to accounting they just go to the liability GL account rather than creating the Accounts Payable to the vendor. For instance, I would like to see state withholdings transferred over to a payable to the designated vendor rather than having to separately record the AP which removes it from state withholding payable to Accounts Payable. This additional entry is room for error.
MIP for all your needs!
- MIP allows us to track revenues and expenditures by fund and event. We have five different coding areas that we use to slice and dice our results in various ways.
- We have the allocation module and use it to allocate earnings to our endowments each quarter. It just takes inputting a few fields and hitting the button to perform the allocation. It has some limitations with regards to our coding, but it MUCH easier than performing this allocation manually.
- We love how we can run reports in a variety of ways. It's not overly intuitive, but once you learn how to use the fields, you can do all sorts of different things.
- I'd like for the allocation module to have more options with regards to coding. We must go back to the entry and change some of the coding before posting the entry. It would be nice if this could happen within the allocation process.
- I wish reports allowed for more comparisons that could be set up in columns. We often have to run multiple reports and download to Excel to format the way we want them.
- Downloading in a pdf format is a bit of a challenge. It might be our online hosting that causes the problem, but we can't save the file where we want to without jumping through some hoops.
Very Happy with Abila MIP
- Ability to keep individual fund accounting intact across a multi-fund environment.
- Fixed Asset subsystem is particularly adept for those entities who maintain a large asset pool.
- I wish it had a built in Purchasing-Inventory module.
Education User
- Can handle a large number of contracts (funding sources)
- Modules work well together
- Price is lower than other larger accounting software systems
- Reporting is not robust
- Needs to be more user friendly
Abila MIP The Greatest
- It allows us to track each fund separately.
- All expenditures and the revenue received for each contract are available.
- On the Cost Allocation application, in most cases the to date has to be changed before the from date.
MIP Fund Accounting and Me
- We have found the working in MIP is very user friendly. We have found when training new users to the system, that they quickly learn to use the system with out many problems at all.
- They are slow to make upgrade changes in areas where improvement are needed.
MIP works for me!
- Financial reporting by department is very good.
- Accounts payable is easy to use.
- [Provides] Accounts receivable aging information that we did not have in the past.
- No suggestions at this time.
