In any given fiscal year, we can manage as much as eight different projects which requires various forms of reporting at various times within the year and in various currencies as well. These projects are usually a part of a larger project and hence timely reporting is always essential. Donors want to be reassured that there funds are being spent as stipulated, therefore monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly reports are used by the donors as monitoring and evaluation tools. As a matter of fact, this benefits all of the involved parties.

Our organization has achieved this benefit. The flexibility within MIP allows us to scale up or down with ease. Associating fund accounts with cost centers is the basis of the reporting structure. From there, we can customize the degree of complexity required both internally and externally. The standard reporting in conjunction with Excel and DrillPoint minimizes or eliminates manual calculations necessary to produce required reporting.

We are able to manage unrestricted, temp restricted and permanently restricted funds and their balances. Our chart has been developed so that the leading number identifies which fund the account belongs to and those roll up and close separately. At each year end, we will close the activity to reflect assets released from restriction.

Again, this system was set up by folks that had no idea of how a true accounting package should work. We have NEVER used fund accounting but are wokring hard to implement it soon. From what I see it will do a good job handling fund accounting; but it should it's the whole purpose of it being around.

As stated previously: we have multiple levels of revenue and expending across many different departments. We are able to track by department, or by program, sometimes even down to the individual staff member.

We have not achieved this to the best of our abilities. I think MIP has so many more capabilities and we have only touched the surface of what it can do. There is so much more our organization could use MIP for and benefit from it, but it is taking the time to get the education and training that we need to utilize them items.

Yes we have achieved this benefit - We track dollars as follows:
By fund then by GL code, then by department, then by activity, then by who sourced from, then by location. We can then report out at any one of these levels or any combination of these levels.
