MIP Fund Accounting™ is a configurable fund accounting solution. The solution includes functionality for fund accounting, procurement, budgeting, payroll, human resources, timekeeping, fixed asset management, grant management, and dashboards for nonprofits and government agencies.https://media.trustradius.com/product-logos/vJ/iG/BC1772P0KCTC.PNGGrant and Membership Funded Nonprofit Member's Review. We use MIP Fund Accounting as our primary financial management application. We record all company transactions through Abila, complete financial reporting processes including bank reconciliations, vendor payment processing, membership billing (receivables) invoicing, and produce our financials through the use of Abila related reports. It is only used by the fiscal department. It is excellent at addressing the need to produce reports and for tracking a multitude of different grants our nonprofit administers.,The first thing Abila does particularly well is allocations, it is excellent for slicing and dicing transactions across multiple cost centers for grant or department tracking purposes. We currently break our transactions down into Funds, Regions, Grants and of course GLs. This level of granularity is optimum for our multi-location, multi-grant organization. MIP also has excellent security administration. Administrative privileges are detailed enough to effectively administrate appropriate segregation of duties. MIP reports are very customizable and we are able to obtain an effective level of transparency by drilling down into whatever level of detail we need to research a particular issue or provide reporting for executives, the board, grant administrators, auditors, etc.,There are several areas of improvement for Abila MIP. First of all, too much of the software is 'moduled' for additional costs. We want solutions that are comprehensive without additive fees for necessary functionality such as bank recs, payroll, and other modules. The membership invoicing is an extreme pain point for us, with a membership base in excess of 6000, processing invoicing can shut down our system if not completed carefully. It would be great if we could also integrate payment processing to be automated between our credit cards and the Abila software. A lot of the transaction processing is very onerous, particularly when certain transactions need to be reversed or when we are applying prepayments, this is mostly in the membership invoicing areas, but even needing to move a transaction across cost centers can prove challenging.,4,We consider our ROI for MIP to be negligible, we believe there are alternative solutions that would better address our immediate needs, however, we lack staffing capacity to effectively evaluate transitions at this time. We have not transitioned to MIP advance due to it being approximately double the cost of our on premise solution.,NP Solutions,,Salesforce Community Cloud, Conga Composer, Spanning Backup for SalesforceWe're OK with MIP; it was our only option.MIP is our accounting and scholarship system. We keep track of all donations, scholarship distributions, and write all invoices and checks from MIP as well. Our accountant then uses it for reconciliation and adjustments/Journal Entries.,The Interface is easy to understand. It is a typical accounting system. Not as intuitive as I would want, but the accountant loves it better than Quickbooks. As far as accounting software, it appears to be a powerful solution. Yes, it does. Again, the accountant loves it. In our area, it is widely used. Lots of MIP users, yes.,Creating reports is not easy. Not the best with reports. Not intuitive. Integration with sister product FR50 is horrible. They may be owned by the same company, but the interfaces, reports, etc. are not at all similar. How we use it for scholarship management is less than desirable. We had to "make it work".,8,It took a long learning curve to get up and running. We hope after another year we will see a good ROI. We are "used to it" and it is working.,We have 50 sub-funds. Data is pushed over from FR50. It works adequately.,DWD Technology Group,QuickBooks,Google Drive,1,Accounting Scholarship Management Reconciliation,We "made it work" for scholarship management, but nothing "innovative",We actually hoped to replace it, but it will probably due for our needs.,10,2,No,Positive Sales Experience with the Vendor,We would have been better prepared for its lack of ease of use.,Third-party professional services,No,Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled,didn't do what we thought,3,No,5,No,No. I cannot.,posting invoice push from FR50,reports changes,3I recomend Abila!Abila MIP Fund accounting is currently being used by the fiscal department and by the executive director. We use it to address business problems such as budget management, payments to vendors including the electronic payment feature, payroll including managing employee information, payroll taxes, direct deposits to employees, accounts receivables and billing, bank reconciliations, and tracking program revenue and expenses.,Abila MIP Fund Accounting has great support, they are always quick to respond and always find a solution or at least an answer. They also have a feature to easily request product enhancements. They give the user the ability to modify reports which is extremely helpful to be able to tailor reports to specific needs. Help and Support! If you are unsure of a feature the system has a great diagram for how the process works, click on a picture in the diagram and it opens up that feature. Once that window is open there is a Help button on just about every screen that, once clicked, takes you to an extensive library of procedures, descriptions, tips and important information. They put on a great annual training.,The Budget Worksheet isn't the simplest to use and understand how the outcome will reflect. It took me some trial and error, and writing my own in-house procedures to feel comfortable with the budget worksheets. There are so many modules that Abila offers that it can be frustrating to learn that in order to obtain a certain feature you have to purchase another module, which may come with way more than you need or want. For example, with the Payroll Module you can select Direct Deposit for an employee but without the Direct Deposit module I can't access the feature to email the pay stub vouchers to those employees with Direct Deposit. There are so many reports available that it can be hard to remember where the report you need is located. Some reports don't include Unposted Transactions and some don't allow the same level of customization.,9,The ROI impact on our business objectives has been saving time. Saving time is saving money and we save time with payroll and tracking employee information, and with budget management and tracking program expenses.,Our agency does have multiple funds from multiple sources and we are able to track and manage them effortlessly. We have an external financial audit done each year and Abila allows me to provide the auditors information quickly with customized expanded general ledger reports. It is also convenient to use the drill down feature on financial reports to see what makes up the figures or to use the Account Balances activity window to search activity by different account filters.,NP Solutions, Inc.,The best for accounting and administration in your organizationThis is an amazing software for accounting, you can do a lot of things to manage your budget, prices, and more. The interface is awesome and the support has great quality. In our institution, we use Abila to follow and keep the track of our budget and expenses, for example if we work with a community we can set their needs, create and projects, a follow the expenditure in each topic of that project. The software also helps us to have reports quickly about our activities and finances.,Good for accounting, we manage a lot of projects at the same time, and the app help us to keep on track of each one, also we can make reports about the accounting for the communities or government. Excellent budget tools, you can manage the budget with high precision and detail, you can add activities, expenditures, costs, personal involvement in the project and set the budget for each one. A perfect interface, it has a friendly and nice interface, you can create graphics and tables easily, and you can watch in your computer or devices all the information at the same thing, to have a better explanation of the project.,It is a little expensive for small companies, to personal use or startup, because of that many people prefer to use a free software or with GNU license instead of Abila. It demands high professional profile, it is not for any kind of professional, the people who is going to work with the app requires certain level of knowledge in accounting and administration. It can be difficult to use in some cases, especially the ones related to the opinion of the community where the changes happen too fast, so you need to creat all the tables and graphics again and again until the people be agree.,8,The possibility to spread our business in administration and accounting, we could manage a lot of projects simultaneously, because the app allows you to do that, and to create elements of analysis of each whenever you want. A better management of money and budgets, a word for describing this app is precision, you can manage your money with high detail, listing every activity and linking them with the people who work or it is involved in the project, so you can be sure that every penny that you spend will appear well described in your budget. A better relationship with clients and shareholders, this is for use the most important issue, we could create a whole new portfolio of clients and people who want to contribute and participate in our organization. showing them the quality of our projects through the budget, administration and accounting that we develop in Abila.,,PMoney Transaction Platform,CleverAnalytics, Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud, Budget MaestroAbila is a great system for non-profitsWe migrated to Abila over 6 years ago from a COBOL mainframe system. We have been extremely happy with the transition. We generate over 100 separate financial statements on a monthly basis. The system is easy to use and everything is integrated. Our managers have up to date access to financial information which is a great benefit. We are able to generate many reports that allow us to track our financial information. The only con is having to use Drill Reports to have a more robust reporting system. Drill Reports is very expensive for only getting one developer license.,Abila is extremely easy to use and migrate through the system. We are able to create separate financial statements to match each grant's reporting requirements. End users have real-time access to information.,I would like to see a grand total at the end of page breaks. Currently you are able get a total on each page break but you need to manually add each one for a grand total. On the 990 reporting it is not required for a segment to be restricted. We should be able to identify a program or gl code within a segment if something is restricted. Enhance reporting to allow all end users to adjust reports unlike Drill Reports where only one user has the ability to create reports.,10,Abila enabled us to streamline our department and we were able to take a full time person down to a part time person By migrating away from a mainframe we were able to eliminate a programmer saving the company money. Abila is a user friendly system that allows an end user to look at transactions without always going to the source documentation.,Abila allows us to manage over a 100 separate grants. We are able to generate separate financial statements and balance sheets for each grant. Our funding sources are able to track their grant expenses easily in the system.,,QuickBooks ProMIP Saved The Day!!!Abila MIP Fund Accounting is being used by the finance department and the purchasing department only. All general accounting and financial reporting is performed via MIP. In addition, the purchasing department uses MIP to enter encumbrances to track open purchase orders. Use of MIP has fostered collaboration amongst various departments whose responsibilities impact financial reporting and monitoring of budgets. MIP makes producing financial reports very easy and the ability to quickly modify any report is very helpful.,MIP export to MS Excel functionality is so easy to use and helps us to quickly begin research and/or analysis. The reporting features allow us to pick and choose which columns/fields we would like to see on reports. The option to include or exclude unposted transactions provides a good mechanism for what-if scenarios as it relates to financial statement amounts. The year-end adjustment feature is new for us however it saves valuable time when reviewing transactions/reporting in preparation for our annual audit.,I'd like a better way to forecast expense that allows me to use a different multiplier or factors to augment individual line items. I would like the ability to develop the budget within the software so it would be easier for variance analysis between current budget and new budget or current actuals vs proposed budget,10,The most positive impact MIP had on our overall business objectives was to reduce the amount of time to produce useful reports. We no longer need to convert text files to MS Excel. Being able to add and delete columnar/field data prior to generating the reports has made staff members more productive. Common chart of accounts to use for any center and/or grant,We have definitely achieved the benefit from MIP's design for managing multiple funds from multiple sources as well as across fiscal years. We have two grants currently and one contract that all have different grant budget/contract periods. Comparisons to budget can be performed for each independently and by our agency's fiscal year for audit purposes. This helps us to comply with grant or contract regulations,,Prosoft Solutions,,Adaptive Insights,2,Financial Accounting and Reporting Budget to Actual Reporting Cash Management and Bank Reconciliation,We are still exploring ways to reduce the effort to forecast annual expenses and create financials for our annual report,Direct Budgeting in MIP rather than using another software for the budgeting modeling we require,10,11,Yes,Product Features Product Usability,I would spend more time on understanding our existing challenges to get a better idea of how those could be met by the software.,Third-party professional services,No,Change management was minimal,Training staff to use the software Working with consultant to structure software for the agency's needs,9,No,9,No,Not at this time.,Generating Financial Reports Bank Reconciliations,Getting Budget Amounts into the software,10Track like a ProWe use it primarily in our fiscal department, but provide information from the system to all departments.,Reporting is a great asset. Cost allocation to different funds through payroll is a breeze with this system. I like that you can choose who can perform different functions, and restrict access on an as needed basis.,I would like to be able to pick and choose which entries to post within a batch.,10,It has provided useful information for acquisition of current and new funding.,It has been a wonderful tool to manage all the different funding sources and grants. We have many divisions and those divisions have multiple funding sources within that division. MIP helps us track not only within the division but by the specific grants also.,NP Solutions, Inc.,,,Budgeting billing cash management,I use it to keep track of all our different donors.,I am looking and tracking specific inkind within classes.,10,2,Accounts Payable Basic financial statements Accounts Receivable,Bank Reconciliation Custom financial reports.,Yes,9Abila - One Stop ShopOur agency uses MIP Fund Accounting for our Financial, Accounting, Payroll, and Human Resource operations. Our entire organization uses EWS for time and attendance, our HR Department uses the HR Manager and Payroll modules, and our Accounting Department uses all remaining aspects of Fund Accounting with the exception of Forms Designer and DrillPoint.,The modules work well together making all necessary information available in one place. The Payroll module interacts with our Accounting module making financial information much quicker to analyze. The financial reports are easy to create and use.,The reporting available in the HR Module is substandard compared to the Accounting modules. All fields are not available for all reports, causing the need to export information to combine certain fields. The formatting of reports is cumbersome and not user friendly.,7,When moving from a third party processor to using the Payroll module a great amount of money was saved. Having an excellent grasp of Abila makes management financial decision more efficient and accurate. Using the time and attendance has saved one full time administrative staff position.,We do not have a current need for multiple funds tracking at the current time. It may have been used previously, but since our government funding has changed it is no longer necessary for us. We have gone from primarily Grant funding to Fee for Service funding making the need for multiple funds obsolete.,Net@Work,,TeamViewer, Adobe Acrobat DC,,Time and Attendance Financial Reporting Payroll Calculations and Tax Reporting,We are able to combine reports and export to Excel for graphic representations for our Board of Directors,None come to mind.,10,7,No,Product Usability,I would likely test several other available products and compare usability and reporting capabilities to my experience with Abila Products. I would be interested only in a full service product which would include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliation, Financial Reporting, Electronic Transfer, Direct Deposit, all Payroll functions, Time and Attendance, Human Resources, and Fundraising and Donor reporting. What You Should Know About Abila MIP Fund AccountingIt's used by the accounting department. We use it to maintain our general ledger, process accounts payable and produce financial statements. We produce financial statements for the board of directors, departmental reports for managers, and revenue and expense analyses for upper management. We use the budgeting module, but mostly as a reporting tool - we do the actual nitty gritty budgeting work using Excel. We also use MIP almost as a job cost accounting system. We're a public broadcasting organization with 7 different stations. We have to allocate expenses not only between funds but between stations, departments, activities and restrictions, and MIP gives us the flexibility to do all of that.,As I just mentioned, the flexibility to allocate revenue and expenses in multiple ways is probably the biggest strength. Very user friendly - I was able to learn the system without any formal training. Very stable - never have any performance issues, even with our less than cutting edge technology!,I would like to see a way to manage prepaid expenses. Microsoft Dynamics has a module that handles deferred expenses - you tell it where to charge the expense and over what period, and it sets up the batch. Then you just review the batch and post it. Saves a ton of data entry! Would like to have the option to select Unposted Transactions on all financial statements. Right now it's only available on some. There should be an Insert Line capability in the input screens, such as the Accounts Payable Invoice entry or Journal Voucher entry. Right now the only way that I know of to insert a line is to enter it at the bottom and move it up to where you want it, and that's very awkward. You should be able to highlight the line below where you want to insert, right click and have an option to insert, similar to what you do in Excel,9,The flexibility and ability to record by department, fund and activity has made our accounting more efficient and streamlined. Fewer spreadsheets.,We do not use MIP very much for this. We are fortunate in that we don't have multiple funds to manage.,Ziegner Technologies,,1,General ledger and reporting Accounts payable and bill pay Cash receipts reporting,We are able to avoid journal entries and multi-month expenses such as insurance expense by entering all 12 months of expense at the time the invoice is entered.,We are hoping to get the ACH module to start direct depositing payables payments.,10,3Abila MIP Fund Accounting is worth a try for any non-profit business!!Abila is being used by our finance and accounting team. We use the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Budgeting and Fixed Assets modules. It addresses all of our business needs and it is very user friendly in terms of use and ability to learn the tasks. The Report Manager feature is also very intuitive and customization is easy and efficient.,Budgeting - provides the ability to work across fiscal years as we have many federal, state and local grants that require different time periods. Once it is set up, then it works seamlessly. Fixed Assets - This module tracks assets and depreciation based on your input and ties this information to the GL in an effective and efficient manner. Report Manager - reporting is very easy as you have many canned reports that can be easily customized to your preferences. You also have the ability to segregate your reports, by name, and store in a file for your easy retrieval and use.,Inputting the budget information can be cumbersome and difficult to understand. It took me a while to get the functionality correct. Understanding which input module to use for what purpose can be a little confusing. For instance Accounts Receivable has areas to input credits, receipts or manual invoices. This can be confusing at first. Setting up codes for new employees or clients can be confusing also as you must input this information into two different setup screens.,9,It's been a positive impact in terms of time saved, personnel, and functionality for the accounting staff. My entire staff enjoys the product and are pleased with the ease of use and reporting capabilities.,Yes, we have multiple sources of funds within our organization and the benefit is tremendous and now we are able to track these funds. The reporting by fund is intuitive and creates a very seamless process. We are able to create income statements and balance sheets by fund type and use this for making management decisions within our organization.,,SAP,Microsoft Access, ADP ezLaborManager,,Accounting reporting Budgeting Financial Statement preparation,Customized reporting to suit your business needs,Payroll,10,3,Not Sure,Product Features Product Usability Product Reputation,I would keep everything the same.,Implemented in-house,5,9,No,Financial Reporting General Ledger review Fixed assets,9Abila MIP Fund Accounting reviewAbila MIP Fund Accounting is used by a client of my company in a specific department for basic accounting.,Budget transaction is simple to use Journal entry is intuitive Check writing feature is very user-friendly,Increased Windows 10 support Easier installation and upgrading features,8,Abila MIP Fund Accounting has had a positive impact on our non-profit business because of its ability to easily track, manage and forecast revenues and expenditures.,,,8,No,I called about a networking issue about 2 years ago and was connected almost immediately. Three support specialist went through a few steps to get me connected again very quickly. They are very polite, patient and professional!MIP Good for use in FQHC'sWe are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and use MIP to keep track of all our financial accounting information. We use MIP to properly track our various grants via revenue/fund codes, and we also use MIP to scan in invoices and contracts so we can have everything stored digitally which makes finding and retrieving historical information easier. MIP is also used to keep track of our fixed assets, and we use MIP to track our various departments so individual financial statements can be produced for these areas with ease. MIP is a good product if you understand its capabilities and are willing to invest the time to set up its many robust features. When I first used MIP I did not like the program due to never using it before. Once I started using it though, and began to understand its various features, I learned to love this program because it allows for finance professionals working in FQHCs to capture data in ways to satisfy federal reporting requirements for things like the UDS and Medicare Cost Report more easily. Also if you set it up correctly, you may not need as many people in the accounting department to get the work done thanks to distribution tables, stored ability to retrieve and use old JE entries, and being able to upload large amounts of data like a payroll. We are looking to expand our use of MIP via the payroll module which we feel would eliminate having to import 3 entries that we have to do through ADP. MIP is a really good product provided it is set up correctly from day one and you take the time to learn how to use it's features properly.,It allows you to create folders in which you can scan invoices, business associate contracts, and contracts in general by vendor. This allows us to keep everything in one place digitally. The good thing about this is that it speeds up finding old invoices, and allows you to send audit selections to the auditor faster due to the items selected already being scanned in digitally. MIP allows for the creation of distribution codes. These are nice as they allow you to charge out common costs to multiple departments in a quick manner. Without this feature, one has to key in manually many line items into the system each and every month. Plus this feature allows for consistency, and elimination of keying errors. If you have the Chart of Accounts set up properly, this system allows you to better track items by departments, Revenue/Fund codes, Location, and by GL. This is important as it allows for better analysis, tracking and reporting. As for the budgeting module, this is also nice as you have the ability to upload your budget via a CSV file or you can manually cut and paste your numbers from excel into the system as well. The key thing though is setting up your budget template to match the format in MIP when cutting and pasting.,They need to better explain how to create definition files so end users can learn how to upload large amounts of data into the system. As of right now, most end users have to contact a consultant to create the definition file and pay literally thousands of dollars in order to do uploads. The financial statement reports could be better. When I created the income statement, the profit is shown as a credit, while a loss is shown as a debit which makes it look funny for presentation purposes. I now have to key everything into Excel so it doesn't do this. The reports could be better if it allowed a way to add statistics to the report. Most FQHCs present stats like visits, Days Cash on Hand and so on. It would be nice to be able to have these stats shown in the financial statements. MIP needs to allow for easier copying and pasting items into the fields. In the Budget module, you can't right click and paste. You need to select the "Edit" and then paste from the drop down menu.,9,Hard to quantify the return on investment. Purchasing accounting software is a necessary evil and the payback is hard to measure. Basically MIP is another expense we incur each month in order to keep our books. If MIP could add some better features to its system, there could be a better ROI. I think if you have MIP set up properly you could probably eliminate an FTE from your accounting department. I was able to get by with 2 people when most places would of had 3 or 4 with the same amount of work. The key though is knowing how to use the product, and setting it up correctly.,Our organization has achieved this objective with MIP via the creation of multiple Revenue/Fund codes in which the various grants are kept track by. We have about 10 grants and are able to run financials for each grant individually or consolidated.,,Fund EZ,ADP ezLaborManagerGreat product for small companies that have the potential to growFinance is currently the only department to use Abila MIP Fund Accounting. We use it to record all financial information and to produce reports for other departments in the whole organization. Abila is able to record revenue and expense information for more than 20 programs under the same company. We are able to run reports for the entire company, or just the specific portions we are interested in.,Predesigned report templates to suit many different types of reporting needs Easy to use and learn the basics Grows comfortably with a company, no matter if it is small to large,It is not easy to find out if an invoice has been paid; you need to run a report first then search. Unable to have unposted information in balance sheet accounts Suspense items in bank reconciliations do not automatically carry over from month to month,8,The pricing scale has been great because pricing depends on the number of users in the system and we don't have to purchase a larger, more expensive system, as our department grows. Ability to run reports quickly for different programs and/or schools, Importing information has allowed us to upload AP, payroll, JV and cash receipts in a quarter of the time.,Yes, we are able to track funding sources through the funder code field. Because it is customizable and we are not just restricted to numbers, it makes it easier to remember that CARN is from the Carnegie Corporation. it is easy to find the different funding sources of a program by choosing program as a filter, but including funder code as part of the report output.,,Microsoft Dynamics GP,2,Software upgrade Aatrix 1099 upgrade Upload integration,Upload recurring entries Track expenses across different segments Record cash disbursement paymentsThe greatest choice you'll ever make!!We are using Abila MIP for our corporate and line of business accounting needs. It is only being utilized by the accounting department at this time. It helps us tremendously by letting us account for our lines of business individually, and the entire corporation as well. This allows us to analyze our various lines of business for efficiency and effectiveness.,The vast array of account segmenting allows us to break down our business in many different ways, which gets us the information we need to make sure we are doing business right. We love the ability to process vendor EFT payments, which fits our green thinking and saves lots of paper. Having a cloud based platform allows us to work more efficiently and not have to worry about using the most recent version or keeping up with payroll updates.,It would be nice to switch between databases without having to logout and login. When entering codes (like for a journal entry) it doesn't auto-search/fill the account numbers...you have to hit the dropdown and scroll for the number. You can't post cash receipts without first having an invoice, which can slow down your processing.,10,Having MIP Advance has allowed us to focus on our work and not worry about system and payroll updates and back-ups. That has been a tremendous relief and allowed us more time to be efficient in our processes.,Yes, we use Abila MIP fund accounting to track our grant sources. We can track all revenue and expenses associated with multiple grants and or revenue sources. This is critical in the grant compliance portion of our work. Without this critical piece of information that MIP provides we would be spending too much time tracking expenses that are available now with a few mouse clicks.,,Abila reviewAbila MIP Fund Accounting is used in the accounting department for general ledger, a/p, a/r, bank reconciliations, report writing, and budget. We purchased this product mainly for the allocation methodology in the general ledger and also for the report writing capabilities.,Allocations - can perform complex, multi level allocations Flexible chart of accounts with ability to expand Good audit trails,Budget module - cannot paste ranges of values from Excel in the spread column in an original template Speed of DrillPoint - takes an inordinate amount of time for the system to update Reports - cannot schedule reports to run in the evening and running during working hours ties system up Form 990 and cash flow statements - not usable tools unless we greatly expand our chart of accounts. These statements need the ability to use formulas to produce the reports Project management during implementation was weak and the Abila consultant was not helpful in identifying solutions when we faced challenges Billing for a/r restricts the # of digits to 2 decimal places, but we require 4.,9,Up front costs to purchase software were high, but on-going support is currently less than what we paid on previous software,We are able to manage unrestricted, temp restricted and permanently restricted funds and their balances. Our chart has been developed so that the leading number identifies which fund the account belongs to and those roll up and close separately. At each year end, we will close the activity to reflect assets released from restriction.,,Abila - a great segment reporting tool.It is currently being used only by the accounting department. While senior managers are aware of the software, they prefer not to use it and prefer reports and other data be sent to them. It helps us with the processing of accounting related needs and providing monthly reports to managers as well as quarterly board reports in an efficient and accurate manner.,The flexibility of segment reporting allows us to generate detailed cost structures for multiple federal programs in a very efficient manner. This allows for effective and efficient on time reporting to funders. The importing features allow for very efficient entry of high volume journal entries that also minimize mistakes.,The interface is not very user friendly. It can be daunting or intimidating for users who may not have knowledge of accounting software. I feel that if Drillpoint reports can be integrated with the Scheduler Module, it would make reporting and data manipulation even better.,7,Abila has streamlined and allowed more tasks to be automated maximizing the efficiency of staff so more staff is not needed. The Maintenance and Support annual fee is a bit expensive and not a very good return especially for the amount of features that are updated from year to year. I don't use support a lot since our systems are pretty efficient so hence I don't think the annual M&S is justifiable. Abila's importing feature allows integration to many different systems which makes Abila very flexible allowing costs to be saved if the owner of the Abila system switches between vendors.,Yes Abila has allowed us to do that very effectively. We have 4 major federal grants in addition to many smaller grants that we receive annually. Abila's system allows us to track the expenses properly in addition to ensuring the reporting is being done in a timely manner. Each of our grantors require expenses to be classed differently and Abila's segmenting system allows this to be done seamlessly.,Capital Business SolutionsMIP Fund Accounting ReviewWe use Abila MIP Fund Accounting for our general ledger and financial reporting. It is not integrated into our CRM system for our accounts receivable system or integrated with our payroll system.,Building report queries that give you meaningful data is very easy to do. Creating new accounts, funds, etc., through the wizard function is easy. The logic behind fund accounting comes across well in the product.,Voiding checks. The system is still being worked on for this and you must void a check in multiple ways. When you make an error adding a new fund or due to due from for that fund, you can't rewrite over it with the wizard, instead you have to go gl line by gl line to fix it.,7,By switching to the cloud-based platform we were able to save well over the cost of the higher monthly subscription fee because we did not spend any time on upgrades anymore.,We have over 10 funds, with multiple different projects and departments. It allows an easy way to track and do due to due forms to ensure our interfund balances are in check.,,Calling all MVP's: Use Abila MIP!Abila MIP Fund Accounting was used to identify a variety of scenarios where investing our money as a nonprofit might be spent in order to achieve various outcomes. It allowed us to simulate options and be better informed in making the decision of where our allocation of money would go as to optimize its use.,Data conversion from our previous system to Abila MIP Fund Accounting was made as seamlessly as possible. We were able to successfully integrate without trouble and leaving us with continuity in our data. The help that we received in developing SOPs for our growing organization proved difficult prior to using the help from Abila MIP. Once we were up and running with the service we got what we needed and were able to make our organization's procedures as ordered as a larger and more established company would have. The ability to see where our funds would most effectively be spent helped us utilize them so that we could make best use four our investors.,Understanding the permissions assigned to employees got confusing at times.,10,Our organization has increased savings due to better tracking by 10% over the previous quarter and see it as critical to our planning strategy.,Abila MIP has helped us manage multiple funds from multiple sources. It helped us better organize where our revenue sources were coming from and helped us track what the most effective methods were for acquiring new funding.,,Amplidata and FontevaOne-Stop Shop for all your needs! We use Abila as our main accounting system to manage our federal and state grants. It is primarily used by our finance staff and CFO only.,Abila's functionality for our office includes fund accounting, grants managements, payroll, human resources, and timekeeping. It allows us to report on multiple cost centers for multiple organizations and programs across all grants on the federal and state level. The imbedded reports writer provides extensive reports and you can customize them anyway you want them or your board wants them.,Sometimes pulling reports or building the reports to give you the results you want is difficult to achieve. Creating budgets was a challenge at first as was updating those budgets when revisions occur. We would like to see a copy and paste function added so when entering or changing descriptions you don't have to continually keep typing them over and over.,9,Having all the modules in one convenient place has saved our company money as well as time. Our finance team is much more efficient because of the combined modules, its a one-stop shop! One negative impact is how long it takes someone to be trained to use the software effectively and efficiently.,Our company does use MIP to manage multiple funds from multiple funding sources, both federal and state, and it has the functionality to do this efficiently and effectively. Once you have a good training background, it is easier to convey the data the way management wants it and MIP makes it easy to do so.,,QuickBooks Premier,Not Sure,Price Product Features Product Usability Product Reputation Prior Experience with the Product,I wouldn't change anything.,No,10,No,We always get exceptional support, they have excellent customer service and the trainers are always available to answer any questions or assist you with any issues you may have. We even have a favorite trainer!,I love the fact that you can pull in data from Excel spreadsheets and vice versa.,Reporting and budget have been difficult and time consuming at first, but once you get the hang of it you are okay.,9MIP - The awesome solution to Non-Profit Accounting[It is being used] across the whole organization. We do accounting for non-profits and it helps with tracking grants using resources. We also use the payroll module which is great.,Tracking grant expenses through resources. The payroll module also helps with tracking grants and makes it very easy to post the journal entries for payroll. The flexibility with reports is great.,In payroll it would be great to see more detail when entering payroll - like a grid that shows the calculated gross for each employee salary or hourly rates. In payroll the ability to create 2 separate checks for one employee in the same payroll run. In payroll - to have the ability to gross up a check more quickly.,9,The use of MIP has been extremely positive.,We use MIP to track various grants from multiple sources. We love that feature.,NP Solutions, Inc.,Abila's abilities are awesome! Our non-profit organization uses a lot of the core modules available in Abila such as the GL, AP, AR Reporting, Bank Reconciliation and many more areas as a whole. I personally use the GL and AP core modules the most. MIP Fund Accounting makes it easy for users to manage multiple accounts. The software easily handles multiple transaction types, including cash receipts and disbursements, pre-payments, invoicing and customer statements, along with standard journal entries, and recurring entries. Since we are non-profit and not a large organization, it is cost efficient for our company. Abila’s The Abila's Maintenance and Support Plan offers product support and troubleshooting as well, and when you have an issue they are very quick to respond and helpful when you have an issue!!,The Grant Management module allows you to track all projects, programs, and grants, including grant submissions, decisions, and grant funding amounts. A series of custom report templates allows you to easily create custom reports from scratch. All of your reports can be exported to Word, Excel, HTML, or PDF formats.,The initial software is well worth the cost, but some of the additional modules would be nice to have, but are very pricey. Once the initial software and database has been created, some aspects cannot be changed.,10,It has had a positive impact on our grant and fundraising reporting. It has had a positive impact on keeping our vendor files up to date. It has had a positive impact on importing our benefits into our payroll modules.,We have not achieved this to the best of our abilities. I think Abila has so many more capabilities and we have only touched the surface of what it can do. There is so much more our organization could use Abila for and benefit from it, but it is taking the time to get the education and training that we need to utilize them items.,,,Dropbox, Google Hangouts, Microsoft Access, Mitel MiCollabAbila MIP Fund Accounting keeps us paying our bills and paying our employees! We use Abila MIP Fund Accounting for all of our accounting and payroll across our organization. We also use the HR Management Module with Abila MIP Fund Accounting. We are a non-profit organization that supports four public charter high schools. Our employee count is approximately 175 which includes teachers and staff.,Easy to use and implement. Even new users can get up to speed quickly on MIP Fund Accounting. Works well by having it on a local server in our environment where we can control access easily and have quick response times. Currently we are now using EFT and employee notifications which is working great Also using Abila MIP Fund Accounting for W2s.,I think it should be MAC compatible and it is not. The HR Management Module still has some issues and could be enhanced. Some of the reporting features could be better.,10,The positive is that it works great and we rarely have issues. When we do have issues the tech support is really good. We do not use the hosted version but I would like to budget for it.,We use it for all accounts payable and accounts receivable and that works great.,,,Sophos Endpoint Protection, PowerSchool Student Information System, Symantec Backup ExecMIP Fund Accounting ReviewAbilia MIP Fund Accounting is the software we use for all accounting records within our agency for payables, payroll, receivables, and financial statements.,Accounts Payable is a major function and with MIP Fund Accounting we can track all payables by vendor, it helps keep vendor activity straight and we record by grant funds so we have multiple funds purchasing from one vendor and it is easy to see which fund paid what amount to a vendor. We currently have over 300 employees and with MIP Fund Accounting we can import our web timesheets saving our payroll clerk hours and hours of data entry for each payroll period. Monthly reports are easy to use and customize. I can create a report for a funding source with information another funding source may not want so I can easily manipulate the reports to best fit my needs.,On vendor records, it would be good to able to change the 1099 status anytime during the year. Now if we change that status the system either includes all payments sent even though we changed it to not produce a 1099 or if we want it to produce one but the status was not correct we have to adjust the vendor balances rather than it pulling the information from the Vendor Payment Information. Recreating paycheck stubs would be beneficial.,8,Vendor payment records has saved the agency from duplicate payments on multiple occasions. In payroll a tax percent was entered incorrectly and then corrected before the next payroll the system knew to adjust all employees affected by the change. We did not have to make a large journal entry to correct the error.,Yes, we manage up to 50 different grant funds at one time and MIP helps keep those funds recorded separately and properly.,Capital Business Solutions,Abila is a solid, flexible funds and payroll suite for your medium size business. We use Abila MIP Fund Accounting and HR component for county government. The accounting portion is used across three different departments and the interface they use is tailored specifically for their workflow and job functions. Access is restricted to only what they require for their job. Abila replaced an outdated system that leaned heavily on manual work, spreadsheets and piles of paperwork. Abila automates the manual work, organizes our information and turned most of our paperwork to digital. It also has the latest tax and HR information helping us to be accurate and ease the burden on our employees.,Streamlined our workflow and guides employees so that they perform our processes accurately every time. Increased security by only allowing employees to see what they require to perform their jobs and nothing else. Made a lot of our paperwork digital such as POs and invoices. Very cost effective. You get a lot of product for the price. Also has some wonderful components like HR and digital time clocks.,Lacks grant management. Excel formulas don't always convert properly when importing. Some reports can be limited in your ability to drill down.,8,Reduced errors in payroll and accounting. Solidified a workflow from one department to the next. In government you may have different departments handling different aspects of the accounting process and Abila can be customized it so that there is seamless integration from beginning to end. Saved us money from having to hire additional part time employees during tax season.,Abila is very flexible and can be customized to your specific industry and needs. Would work well for a medium sized non-profit for tracking multiple funds and sources. And any module you buy for Abila was actually developed by them so it doesn't end up a hodge podge mess like other competitors. It has allowed us to customize everything based on our needs from managing funds to sources.,Zobrio,Blackbaud CRM and Great PlainsMIP for all your needs! We use Abila MIP Fund Accounting for the entire organization. We use it for our daily activity as well as managing our endowments.,MIP allows us to track revenues and expenditures by fund and event. We have five different coding areas that we use to slice and dice our results in various ways. We have the allocation module and use it to allocate earnings to our endowments each quarter. It just takes inputting a few fields and hitting the button to perform the allocation. It has some limitations with regards to our coding, but it MUCH easier than performing this allocation manually. We love how we can run reports in a variety of ways. It's not overly intuitive, but once you learn how to use the fields, you can do all sorts of different things.,I'd like for the allocation module to have more options with regards to coding. We must go back to the entry and change some of the coding before posting the entry. It would be nice if this could happen within the allocation process. I wish reports allowed for more comparisons that could be set up in columns. We often have to run multiple reports and download to Excel to format the way we want them. Downloading in a pdf format is a bit of a challenge. It might be our online hosting that causes the problem, but we can't save the file where we want to without jumping through some hoops.,10,We have used MIP for many years so it's hard to measure the impact of the software. MIP has been invaluable to allowing us to separate funds by using their coding structure.,We are able to manage our many funds by using MIP's coding. At a previous job, we also used MIP and had many different sources of revenue as well. MIP was very helpful in allowing us to track the funding sources as well as the expenditures.,NonProfit Technologies, Inc.,

Abila for us is better than Prosoft because in the first you can manage many items like accounting, administration, budget and you can follow every aspect closer and with high detail, the second one only works for use as a system to manage information in the cloud with some features of clients and projects, but it does not have any tool related to the manage of money in an organization. So, for us Abila is better than Prosoft, because it is focused in the topics which are very important to our organization.

Our partner, Schneider Downs, was extremely helpful during the initial setup phase. They helped us setup our system properly from the beginning. I have heard other software users that did not have that help. We rarely have to call Schneider Downs for assistance as the system is very easy to use. Schneider Downs provides a user group meeting once a year to keep us updated on the product and to share ideas with other users.

Prosoft Solutions - Prosoft Solutions, as a partner, was invaluable in the set-up and implementation stage of our transition to MIP Fund Accounting. They were also very helpful when we needed to import transactions to the general ledger from MS Excel. We recently hired them to train staff on the encumbrance functionality in MIP since we have new staff that need to learn this.

Net@Work -

I am disappointed with this partner, since I have been waiting for a quote for a necessary project for quite some time. I have worked more successfully with other Partners in the past, and although they have changed locations I am seriously considering reaching out and changing back to our previous vendor.

We do not work with an MIP partner. I pay MIP an annual fee for support and maintenance which MIP does not really provide because they want you to use a "Partner" to fix the problem or answer the question. If you use a "Partner" then you have to pay for that service as well. Makes you wonder why I am paying MIP an annual maintenance fee for support when they don't really want to provide this service as they try to get you to use a partner instead. Most of the stuff in MIP is easy to do or administer hence the need for a partner is greatly diminished.

Abila MIP is so cost effective and easy to use that when the organization doubled in size in terms of personnel and budget it was no question that we would be keeping Abila as our accounting system. Because we were so confident in the product we were able to focus more on our programs and other work and not have to worry about Abila's ability to grow as we do.

Partnering with Abila and using MIP Advance Fund Accounting software has allowed us to move to the next level as we become more complex. We have nine lines of business and MIP Advance allows us the opportunity to evaluate each line of business for productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. Without these tools, we would be floundering in the dark.

We had planned on using DrillPoint for our report writing, but the software takes an inordinate time to run reports. So we are still using Excel for a lot of work that we had planned to convert.

Capital Business Solutions - Drillpoint has been an amazing addition to Abila. Drillpoint allows the reporting system to be expanded into many different areas. It allows the users to create and manipulate reports in a variety of different ways. This is great for ad hoc reports and/or editing the reporting format in many different ways to create additional appeal or making the reports easier to read.

Abila MIP Fund Accounting helped the organization I represented increase its understanding of revenue sources and how to better manage the funds we were controlling. It helped us to authorize participants in a structured method and helped us establish a code of SOPs for various procedures not previously decided upon within our company.
