I use the Miro tool for many proposals. The must important it's connected about creation and maintence connect with company projects. This frameword can be very usefull into structure for backlogs, kanban, and many.Acctually to me it's a kindle of combination betwen agile metodology, Jira and the simple Miro bt the way. With this framework, i keep more organzation and stay mor confident with the all project scope.
  • Templates ideas
  • Structure of backlog
  • Offering simple soluctions according urgency of bussines
For me the most important thing in the Miro, is the capability to keep a vision into all project scope. And share this board with my colleagues, in a collaborative method bring great results. All people involved can collaborate, and with this, day by day are must efficient. This made all colleagues involved in the same page.

I am the Design Lead at my company. I use Miro for brainstorming, ideation workshops, analysing research and creating diagrams or user flows. We also use it as a team for strategy planning as well as for our monthly marketing sessions.
  • Handling big files with lots of content.
  • Collaboration for many users at the same time.
  • Clusters and sentiment grouping.
For project management we use Atlassian, I think it takes too much time to try and match a roadmap in Miro, even with the Jira plugin. Great for designers doing visual boards, flows and workshops. Maybe some more customisation on charts and some more chart types so we can actually create charts directly in Miro.

Perfect tool for multiple stakeholder co-creation

Rating: 9 out of 10
October 11, 2024
I currently use Miro to run client workshops with multiple external stakeholders (ie not all from the same company) and map our user experience journeys for client design sprints. The business problems for workshops: companies need a tool for external stakeholder events (ideation with their clients, community hackathons, knowledge sharing through deep dives...) and need an easy way to contribute ideas - I create the board to facilitate this exchange. Not huge scope. Also required to use company tools like Klaxoon. The business problems for user experience journeys: missing alignment on the user journey with other stakeholders; missing a visual representation of the user flow other than analytics dashboards but crucially: missing the ability to contribute improvements to the journey. Becoming rarer as now using Figma for full Design Sprint process.
  • Miroverse template bank for inspiration
  • Voting and timer with the music
  • I love anonymous mode which puts people at ease
  • I like how easy it is to share for new users - they don't need to jump through hoops
Best suited for collaboration workshops of around 1 hour long.

Well suited for structured workshops, sprints and hackathons.

OK for acceleration or long projects but I really do NOT love it for longer term projects - I feel like the information gets lost easily and would rather use a project management tool

Miro is an invaluable tool for communication via visuals with collegues both virtual and co-located. As a software shop, we find Miro to be useful for almost all roles. Whether it's creating an apporachable project timeline as a project manager, prioritizing backlog items through voting as a product owner, breaking down epics into user stories or creating process diagrams as a business analyst, or crafting a UI design as a designer, Miro has features to allow for quick, easy, yet powerful and in depth visuals to help everyone be on the same page. In addition, miroverse is an incredibly well-stocked resource for pre-made templates that we routinely use for retrospectives to keep them fresh and engaging, or for other templates to think about topics in new ways. Furthermore, Miro offers great webinars and educational material to aquaint users with new features when they come out (which is often), though most of the time, the new features are so intuitive, they don't require much explanation because they just work the way I would expect them to.
  • Reliable service
  • Plentiful, useful, intuitive features
Miro is an incredible tool for not only collaboratively working on something, but for solo thought organization and exploration. With the ability to link just about anything (a Google Doc, a website, a picture, etc.), it's a great tool to create an overview for any type of project or initiative with everything in one place. We use Miro as a way to communicate with others things that are already in another place that's less visually friendly, so we find it to be duplicative, yet very rewarding work. More integration with other apps would alleviate this, but also seems like an unreasonable ask of Miro.

We use Miro for process mapping. We often change processes to include new strategies that might lead to better business results. The templates Miro provides have been helpful for planning the details of these changes. I especially like the collaborative nature of Miro since often these process changes are interdepartmental and involve multiple collaborators
  • Easy collaboration
  • Helps get brainstorming started with templates
  • Easy to use interface
  • Nice looking interface and features that make the experience fun
Miro has been great for process mapping when we're looking to change our processes. It has also been helpful for creating new processes and building them from the ground-up. We have also used Miro to facilitate some team-building activities. The interactive nature of Miro has been great for bringing together a remote team.

As for scenarios where it's less appropriate, I would not finalize processes in Miro. It is more for planning, but the final product would move into a spreadsheet or other document

I use Miro to create process flows and wireframes of application interfaces associated with those process flows. From there Miro is used to collaboratively review, edit, and update those items across multiple stakeholders.
  • The ability to access by multiple users at the same time.
  • The ease in sharing material to multiple users.
  • Usability in adding and editing components.
  • Wide range of templates, shapes, and UI components.
Any time you need to be able to collaboratively work on a project. Brainstorming, wire framing, kanban planning to track to-dos.

Miro is fundamental for innovation

We use Miro to support our entire innovation process from fact finding to problem definition to ideation to work planning. Typically these are facilitator-led contexts, but we also use it for journey mapping or research synthesis which may be done by individual practitioners. It's essential for every form of innovation in our organization.
  • Collaboration
  • Documentation
  • Workshops
Miro is excellent for scenarios in which distributed stakeholders must contribute towards a common exercise or activity. It is best used when there is a seasoned facilitator present who knows the ins and outs of the Miro tool. It is also useful from individuals who want a large white space in which to jot down ideas or put together plans.

It is a not effective as a presentation vehicle in my experience. Senior executives still prefer PowerPoint for these sorts of activities.

We are a brand strategy agency, we use Miro in multiple applications. The first application is that we often do strategy workshops with our clients remotely in multiple parts of the US. For that we often use Miro for doing things like sprints, team, ideation and workshop exercises.

Secondly, inside of creative direction we use Miro as a way to bring inspiration together in one place.
  • Infinite canvas offers the flexibility I need.
  • Drag and drop for media files and links.
  • I think the voting feature works fairly well for workshops.
It’s great for mood boards, and pulling a lot of material into one place to find themes. I sometimes wish I could do like nested canvases or a way to navigate more easily back and forth between multiple boards.

It’s a little more clunky when getting new people to use it as a participant in a workshop.

I wish there was a bit more customization I could with branding and presentation styling to tailor the presentation look to each clients aesthetic.

A total game changer

I am a freelance and fractional CMO working in the tech and creative space and I have to wear a lot of hats. Miro really helps me visualise a problem or solution at every level. Sometimes I use it as a quick brainstorming and note taking tool. Other times I will use it to map out an entire process or plan. I have used it for everything from mapping out an entire user journey, to creating a master marketing plan, or tracking the progress of a website build. I've used it for events planning, to create an artefact for a strategy, for product and company roadmaps and for collaborative business planning.
  • Collaboration
  • Creating a visualisation of a complex problem
  • Idea planning
It's the most versatile tool I use, but I'd say that it really shines brightest in the ideas and strategy phases of a project. I've had less use of it when things are moving, because we tend to move to a ticketing system.

It's a good way for us to facilitate sessions online with our clients and get everyone involved in projects. It works for us as a lot of our clients are from different locations and doing things in person doesn't always work out, Miro feels like the more sustainable option for us.
  • Letting you dump all kinds of file types, or links all in one place
  • Easy and convenient to design in, quickly
  • Great for user journeys
  • Great for workshops
  • Efficient
Across my team we all use Miro, be it for different purposes or different reasons, but it is so easy to use. I remember when I first started at my company it was great to come into and just do brain dumps of research or design inspiration and easily move things around and group things together without getting bogged down by other stuff. It's also been a great way for us to host workshops or kickoffs with clients or the team.

We primarily use Miro for product and design discoveries. I’m in the product design area, and we created a design workbook that includes a template with our main processes for conducting a discovery. This includes, for example, a CSD, team dynamics, wireframes, interview scripts, and usability tests. In our company, we work with corporate benefits in Brazil, addressing issues for HR and employees.

We primarily use Miro for product and design discoveries. Miro works very well for us when we use it for team work, for example, a CSD, team dynamics. We also use ir to make wireframes, and the experience is not so good, I feel sometimes it's hard to move things around, which makes it hard to wireframe sometimes.

I utilize Miro to visually map out numerous processes and/or logic query's. I then continuously expand on these processes and/or logic to identify gaps or opportunities within them to make them more efficient or less redundant. I am able to utilize these visual boards to support implementation or product requests, as it enables me to clearly illustrate the present state and future possibility.
  • Enables sharing across teams, whether for viewing or editing purposes!
  • Supports several integrations to support complex use cases of boards.
  • Excellent product layout for easy functioning!
Miro is excellent to map out an initial process, then continue to expand into granular details. By doing so, this enables the team to identify gaps or opportunities in processes to support implementation or product requests. The ability to share these boards easily with others to view and/or edit (based on the permissions you set) is a game changer! ESPECIALLY the ability to click the presenter and following their clicks when presenting the board to others.

Each mentoring group has its own board where both mentor and mentees contribute to custom templates that are used for discussion and conversations. By using these, I experience, our material is more dense and direct, allowing for any arrangement of text and graphics in any combination. I find that we communicate more succinctly because we write less. Due to its digital nature, I can move objects about with ease instead of starting from scratch as I would with a traditional whiteboard. Additionally, its vector shape means that I don't have to digitize post-its or whiteboard scribbles after the fact. Each of the multiple Miro boards only exists in a single version, albeit they can be made available to different users with varying permissions. Because documents are available whenever and wherever needed, version management is not necessary. People can collaborate in real time with it.

A highly satisfactory and productive engagement with Miro.

The tools that i used during the creation of workflow are easy to understand, the symbols of the tools are very simple. <br>This platform is a great platform for the new users. The user with basic knowledge can perform its task easily. The U.I. makes it more simple for the new user to do its task.

Miro is currently used for a variety of tasks depending on department. We use if from everything as simple as documenting the lead nurturing email flows for our various products to complex user research tasks that require cross-team collaboration to succeed (e.g. marketing, CRO optimization team, automation team, content and design team + engineering). Because Miro allows for the integration of Jira, we are also able to create project road maps with links to and timelines generated from the tickets we use to organize tasks. Miro also houses all of our quarterly goal mapping. Finally, we use it for brainstorming before, during, and after meetings since our company works in a hybrid model. It's a safe and accessible place to store all of the ideas we come up with while asynch
  • Miro does a great job of integrating with other tools, which makes hopping between them and automating information shared between them fast and easy
  • I love the AI tools that can help summarize complex boards into digestible information for those less involved in certain projects.
  • Miro was easy to be onboarded onto-- it's intuitive and easy to catch on to how to utilize different components (and you can be walked through them with the talk track even!)
Miro is great for both collaborative use cases and personal information bases. I really appreciate being able to work asynch with my team and have them utilize something like a voice track to explain their thought process or use case for the content they add to a board-- it also helps cut down on the time needed to communicate changes that different team members desire. It's amazing to be able to integrate other tools such as documentation on Confluence or have Jira tickets directly linked in product roadmaps or process flows. We use Miro for everything from showing the intersections between different teams and their responsibilities to complex quarterly planning and UX research involving 5+ departments. However, it's less appropriate if you need to use a complex variety of shapes or want to adjust design elements in a detailed way. For example, the rounded square could really benefit from being able to change the degree of roundness in the corners, but sadly it's not an option.

As a Product Director I am using Miro on a daily basis for creating presentations, moderating workshops, planning OKRs, change management, first visualizations of concepts, discovery and ideation...

It's use experience is so smooth that I even prefer it over sophisticated graphic tools to create birthday invitations or anything like that.
  • It always seems to be one step ahead. I catch myself in moments where I think "would be nice if it could do..." and actually it does
  • Real-time collaboration without any limits
  • Reducing time efforts for workshop moderation - specifically now with Miro Assist
Miro is very well-suited for anything that doesn't fit into strict structures such as Excel Spreadsheets or documents. It's perfect to set up and moderate workshops. It's presentation mode is really a game-changer and I already prefer it over Powerpoint/Keynote.

Less well suited: Apparently for things that require strict structures such as calculations that you would usually use Excel for.
