Monetate is a website optimization and personalization product. The company offers a strong product tailored to the needs of e-commerce and retailers. Customers are mostly enterprise brands.https://media.trustradius.com/product-logos/EN/2t/7AALPRLAT012.JPEGMonetate ReviewMonetate is used by a marketing department, specifically by a web marketing team. We use Monetate to test our design strategies via its testing platform and by checking its live analytics and results from it. Depending on the result, we will then make a decision to permanently implement the design onto the site itself or to drop the idea if it fails.,Dynamic test to let users test several different ideas at the same time while dynamically distributing traffic to the highest ROI. Live analytics to show us where the test is at and to easily compare the experiment with original (control).,Faster development job is done when requested. I know the company has been undergoing a change but staff has changed so often that our personalized staff has changed numerous times.,8,We were able to make sure of the "working" ideas which actually brings customers. Our changes to the site has become more risk-free now.,9,7,10,9,,2,2,usability testing conversion rate optimization testing analysis, creating 3 mini cta buttons on the top of the main page changing the layout of the action page changing the banner ad styles, layout conversion rate style variations,9,Google Analytics, Google Ads (formerly AdWords)Monetate Review from Director of E-CommerceMonetate is being used by the e-commerce teams for two sites which I manage. It enables us to improve conversion and average order value by testing creative and promotional messaging, target messaging to consumers based on behavior and demographic segment, and cross-sell merchandise. Monetate also enables the teams to make quick changes to the site and avoid the time consuming ordeal of submitting tickets to developers and waiting for response and resolution.,The UI is intuitive. With very little training team members start using the tools. It is versatile - a testing, targeting, a second CMS, and recommendation engine which can be used virtually anywhere on the site. It is light. Integration is fast and does not slow down site speed. We even use Monetate to test certain 3P functionality, integrating through Monetate and testing the application to validate impact on site KPI rather than just integrating the 3P directly into the platform. Client Services team very proactive in helping our team identify opportunities and get quick results. Also very responsive when we need to use Monetate to quickly address issues affecting the business.,Continuous improvement in predictive analytics.,10,Higher conversion rates on desktop and mobile sites since implementation. Faster implementation of changes to the site..reducing the burn of developer hours. Higher average order values.,Adobe Target, MyBuys and Certona,4,4,Targeting marketing and merchandising content and promotional messaging based on behavior and demo Addressing issues that would normally require IT/solution support engineers Increase average order values via product recommendations,Instead of integrating certain third party technology directly into the platform, we wanted to run A/B tests to see what kind of impact it would have on site KPI. So we integrated the technology via Monetate. That gave us the ability to test different placements for the third party CTAs and optimize the UX and conversion. I am consistently surprised how the team turns to Monetate as quasi CMS.,We have only scratched the surface of using first and third party data for targeting. We have not yet integrated our CRM data or, loyalty data or customer LTV into the site, or data from social platforms. And we do not yet have a DMP. All of these will help increase the impact of Monetate on the business.,9,No,Price Product Usability Product Reputation Vendor Reputation,No changes,Professional services company,Yes,Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled,Product image feed to the Monetate visual search tool was not working properly at launch,9,Yes,9,Yes,We recently had an important UX issue with our header and nav which needed immediate resolution. The suppport team stepped in quickly to set up the campaigns to resolve the issue.,Testing: the who, what when, why UI is very intuitive. Creating campaigns as CMS overrides is almost too easy.,We still have not integrated our CRM data into Monetate.,9Monetate is a great tool for outside of the box web-thinkingWe utilize the power of the Monetate platform to add/remove elements on our web site in a quick and easy fashion and leverage the testing capabilities to A/B test site changes globally before rolling them out "officially".,The ease of setting up actions to add new content or remove existing content from the web site is very streamlined and even non-coders on our team can do so with ease and little difficulty. With the power of A/B testing on virtually anything we post to the site with Monetate we can gauge user response and acceptance and target the "better" CTR on specific designs. This expedites the creation of future designs as we know what works--and what doesn't. Running concurrent campaigns throughout the site is simple as you can easily pause and edit anything running on the site with little interruption to the flow of the existing site.,The action builder interface has come a long way, but there are times when it feels intrusive. The top nav bar that is shown should be resizable to the user specifications... not on the standard sizes that Monetate dictates. Sharing tests with others is quite easy, however, a test should be made available to "test" automatically rather than having to build a specific link. Users should be able to set a target location and allow others to see it as part ot the set up process and that "share link" should be automatically generated upon "completion" of building a campaign. Having to click elsewhere and build a link foolish as it is nearly always a "next step".,7,I am unable to answer this "ROI" question as it is not part of my job description as a developer.,,,Segmentation of personalized experiences "Band-aid" repair on site glitches A/B testing of new experiences to gauge interest/effectiveness,It has replaced our CMS for placing banners onto our web site,More robust use of the personalization tools to create a 1-to-1 experience with our customer,8Great Personalization ToolMonetate is a great tool to deliver personalized content to the customers where customers are seeing real time personalization fitting to their behavior. It's also great to do AB testing with Monetate as the customers are easily segmented and presented with different testing content. It provides a quick solution for site owners to dynamically insert content without having advanced technical background.,Capture customers' behavior real time. Easy to use UI. There are endless combination of targeting variables to utilize.,Faster turnaround time for special targeting variable request. Deliver new features for the UI at the time they promised.,9,The company is able to utilize Monetate to really push out last minute urgent requests as there is absolutely no delay in term of pushing the content live to the site.,4,6,AB Testing Holiday Promotions Create new placements on the fly, work with a 3rd party verification service and deploy the code through Monetate Injecting cookies to mark customers and target them afterward, incorporate real time data to serve our customers personalized promotions,8,No,Existing Relationship with the Vendor Analyst ReportsMonetate- Value Your Work With a Dollar FigureWe are using Monetate for testing new things on the site (simple creative, CTAs, merchandising ideas, promotions) and we also use it for serving content and site elements that might take our IT department longer to implement.,Targeting and segmentation- for those that don't have sophisticated content management systems and for those hoping to better personalize their site. Showing incremental lift/decrease- for things like promotions and other site enhancements, Monetate does a great job of giving an incremental dollar figure to things that top level executives are going to want to see. Ease of use- the UI is incredibly user-friendly and Action Builder is a great asset for people who aren't as adept with coding and such.,Being quicker to release new features after they are announced. We often wait a year to gain access to features we are excited to use after they are announced. Being quicker to build out actions around the holiday shopping season. In terms of client support, we find that we have to sometimes remind our client service members about tests and other things discussed on update calls. A consistent follow up status email after each call or some other method of keeping track of things going on would be most helpful.,8,Able to test whether we need to offer Free Shipping to all customers and evaluate the impact that has on margin and the bottom line. Able to launch certain site elements before IT is able to execute them.,3,8,8

One code for everything makes it easy to integrate on your platform, but every extra you need to pay. But all in all if you get the full package you have a powerful tool to optimize your website.

Overall I found Monetate to be a very powerful tool. It was able to help us answer questions like "What offer will be the strongest this holiday?", "Is it worth it to 'call-out' new products with a highlighted message?" and "Will we improve KPI metrics on our homepage if we try different types of marketing placements?". I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who is looking to try and test and improve the experiences of their customers shopping on their website.

Great software + good Monetate team both on client services, and within sales department. The Monetate user conference was also helpful to understand how other clients are using software - plus, best practice. The software is more expensive than basic packages (such as Visual Website Optimizer) and provides a more full service experience, which probably applies better to mid-size companies. For start-ups with the tech resources already available, would recommend using more basic package than full service experience.

In addition to what Monetate has done for us, they are continuing to build new products. They listen to their customers (me) and want to know what I need so they can provide a better product.

It's doing everything we need from it, and the support has been great as well. Really like the team I'm working with at Monetate. Plus, we've just implemented it and came from a previous implementation from a competitor. As easy as implementation is, I don't really want to go through the process again right away unless necessary.
