Reviews
(1-25 of 49)Kibo Personalization, Powered by Monetate is a fully functional
- We do not know of another program that gives greater solidity to all your administrative content on the web, this program promises greater control to all its users in the cloud.
- We can work as a group on the web thanks to Monetate, part of our mission is to work comfortably from our mobile devices and share our content immediately.
- I like Monetate because of the multiple aspects that I can modify to my liking as well as download them to work without depending on a Wi-Fi network.
- Time is required to be able to achieve the objectives with this program, since it is not very easy to use and run it in its best version.
- It is very important to train before implementing this program, since its interface becomes much more complicated with each update, this can be improved by making it much more organic and simple.
- This program still has a lot of potential to exploit and to generate a better management for the exhibition of our products, it can be a bit complicated to show the product on the web without limitations with the image.
A platform hampered by poor technical support
- Audience segmentation is relatively painless. They provide a robust way to granularly target visitors by device type, location, weather, demographics, etc.
- Our CSM has been very engaged and detailed in supporting our partnership. She provides very prompt responses and clearly works hard to push the Kibo team when possible.
- The User Interface to develop new actions is not terrible.
- Supports Single Sign On, which is the preferred method of managing users at my organization.
- In my opinion, the Automated Personalization feature is lackluster and I regret purchasing this feature. It does not have the flexibility to personalize by the variables I consider important in visitor segmentation - notably, not considering marketing channel as a predictor.
- Monetate's development team is terrible. Turn over is high, we've gone through 3 dedicated developers in less than a year. Every one has shown ineptitude within their platform, regularly requiring months and quarters to find what should be common knowledge for folks to have access to the backend code base. They don't know their own documentation and have provided us with conflicting (re: wrong) information. Their failure here is the main driver in our considering other vendors.
- There is a lot of nuance in their platform. Anything not done quite right will cause hours of headache to resolve. This was not the marketer friendly platform that was promised us.
- In my opinion, Monetate has failed to provide testing and statistical expertise and guidance. We have scheduled 3 sessions with their statistics specialists, only to be given a marketing spiel, rather than specific explanations on how their algorithms work and should be implemented within tests as best practice. They have not shown any understanding on how to understand the results of a test and how to provide recommendations to leadership. We've gone through 2 strategy sessions that stopped because of turnover and have not picked up since.
- Monetate does not have any integration with Adobe Analytics, our web analytics platform of choice. As a result, their generic implementation is STILL creating bugs and affecting our analytics tracking after 7 months of debugging.
Monetate is a blast to use!
- Extremely flexible campaign creation.
- Very intuitive user interface.
- Custom targeting based on internal datasets and site contents.
- Helpful tech support.
- While effective for personalization, there are limits to Monetate's ability to run personalization at scale.
- Monetate has a limited ability to nest personalization inside A/B tests, for example, to test 3 pieces of content targeted to 3 customer segments vs. 5 pieces of content targeted to a separate breakdown of customer segments.
- The ability to target a campaign to visitors who have seen a specific variant in another A/B test is lacking.
Impressed so far.
- Recommend products.
- Provide related products.
- Out of stock products recommended.
- Un-related recommendations.
Helpful tool!
- surfaces frequently bought together products
- surfaces customers also bought products
- the interface can be fiddly
- make it easier to group together products to remove people being offered completely irrelevant products
- not surface the same product types as "frequently bought together"
Monetizing Monetate...

- Testing
- Product recommendation strategies
- Personalization engine context
- onboarding
- Analytics readability
- Ease of use

Monetate - Digital Magic Tape!
- Relatively easy user interface to use. We have separated our Monetetate hub by site - very easy to use.
- Building tests or experiences has a good builder addressing what you are building, where it is targeting, when the experience should run and why
- The majority fit setting provides a good low risk way of determining if a fix is a 'winner' or not
- A very helpful and extensive Knowledge Hub
- Searching through all the experiences or tests you put online is reliant on a very robust naming convention
- We would like an easier place for notes for each experience or test to be stored so that these are searchable. This allows things like project briefs to be summarised for the purpose of the wider team
- It would be great if Monetate had an improved preview function to allow you to view an experience on the device and screen resolution of your choice. Currently, to fully test your experiences, you'll need a few browser apps which allows you to mimic devices, clear cookies...
- A smarter way of building out variations for tests would be useful. Occasionally, a test that has a lot of different variables (but ultimately quite similar) will require you to setup multiple experiences to achieve this
Whilst the majority fit works well as a low risk way of showing that a test will work, it does not give you learning or insight as to why something does or does not work.
Not All it's Cracked Up to Be
- Personalization match
- Customer service
- User experience on the the interface (not intuitive)
The Right Tool, for the Right Job, at the Right Time.
- The Customer Success Managers that we have been given are engaged and interested in helping us solve problems
- The UI of the platform is business user friendly
- The deploying and disabling of experiences is relatively easy for a business user to perform.
- Most experiences to be done correctly require software development knowledge, however, unless you pay for the tier that gives you developer support you are left to a service queue which is slower to get you a resolution on your situation.
- Data accuracy is an issue unless using a server-side implementation. It never matches your web analytics software, so you have to pick which one you want to believe.
- On the fly, personalization is difficult without a CRM direct integration. Managing lists by hand is not the ideal way to run such a program.
Very Mature and Built out Product Recommendations
- Easy to Test Different Algorithms for different scenarios
- Straight forward UI
- Lots of Options to rank products with
- Development Time for Product Recommendation is long

- Training
- Account support
- Ease of use

Monetate lover
- Monetate cookie provides behavior's targets, and allows the business to provide a more relevant journey.
- The system is very user-friendly, meaning training someone new is quick and effective.
- Monetate support is always very helpful, and the account managers are keen to keep it up to date.
- A Monetate app would be great, as the mobile site is extremely hard to use.
- Matching the business product feed with the Monetate data has proven to be difficult.
- Targeting a whole categories PDP is very hard to do with Monetate, unless you have time to find the whole categories of product codes.
- Providing more Monetate training.
Targeting specific customers within Monetate, such as Google shopping customers or customers previously bought dresses etc. Completing homepage testing for personalized journeys through the AI testing tool.
Less suited to:
The Monetates analytics page is not very helpful, and it would be great to have more results. Testing sequencing within Monetate has also proven difficult.
Easy tool for a beginner in the industry
- Easy to use.
- Tests are easily customizable within the tool, through the html, css, and js boxes.
- An excellent support system, either through Monetate support or through our contact with the account managers.
- The analytics is known to be 5% invalid when compared to GA, especially monetary measurements.
- Provide more in-depth analysis for tests.
- The AI tool should be able to better recognize smaller differences.
Very good tool overall
- Ability to get experiences immediately online.
- Ability to compare multiple metrics for A/B testing.
- Ability to duplicate experiences.
- Custom events are not easy to use and don't get copied while duplicating experiences.
- When opening different experiences/actions in different tabs, all tabs switch to the same action/experience
- Impossible to track custom event on added element (added through Test version) with Inspector before experience is actually live.
- Differences between experience types (Majority fit vs standard A/B etc is not very clear in the interface. Inexperienced users sometimes choose the wrong experience type as a consequence.
- Bounce rate sounds sometimes incorrect. The experiment has a bigger bounce rate 90% of the time.
- Lack metrics such as Exit rates and Median order value.
Monetate Makes Money
- AB Testing: ease of use & ability to access metrics/analytics
- Campaigns/Promotions: preview mode is especially helpful in identifying exactly what will show up
- Customer segmentation functionality would be great in identifying the different types of customers we have
- Other ways to organize/gather data to identify different perspectives
It's efficient and easy to use.
Getting the job done with Monetate
- Ability to AB test very easily.
- Very flexible/customizable lightbox tool.
- Easy to target specific users by uploading datasets.
- Lightboxes that adjust for desktop vs. mobile experiences.
- Easier integration with custom analytics we use internally.
Would Highly Recommend!
- Adding promotional banners under the top nav across the site
- Testing and measuring a/b efforts like PDP revisions or similar updates
- hiding elements that may be hindering the customer experience as a hotfix
- documentation could be updated more regularly
- Training information and videos are very basic
- The overall organization can be improved
Monetate Review
- Dynamic test to let users test several different ideas at the same time while dynamically distributing traffic to the highest ROI.
- Live analytics to show us where the test is at and to easily compare the experiment with original (control).
- Faster development job is done when requested.
- I know the company has been undergoing a change but staff has changed so often that our personalized staff has changed numerous times.
Great tool - easy to use and powerful outcomes
- Supportive account team to help us use Monetate to the best of its capabilities
- Intuitive to use and learn
- Has a vast array of functionality options to maximise possibilities to test/personalise
- Monetate-built actions are often locked down so the client user cannot amend to be bespoke for their needs. Therefore any changes wanted require a new Monetate dev ticket. This can be time consuming
- Extensive testing opportunities with specifically dedicated resources on Certona's side
- Account management is very committed to finding areas of opportunity and improvements
- The strength of the algorithm used to drive personalization
- Ability to create in-depth product reporting
- User portal can be slow, especially with larger reports
- While support is usually quick to resolve issues, new implementation can be held up in a queue for long periods of time
Game changer for Marketers.
- Display marketing messages
- Provide data
- A/B testing
- Custom customer segments
- Training videos
- Suppport chat
Monetate is the best in the industry
- Fast: It's great that Monetate is a layer on top of our website. We are able to add things without code change and see the campaigns in action in real time.
- Strong analytics: I like how Monetate guides you through the analytics and has goal levels to let users know if the engine feels confident in the results, or needs more time for testing.
- Technicality: While not exactly something Monetate can fix, most of our tests require development from our team or the Monetate team. As a business user, it would be nice to be able to create my own campaigns outside of a development queue.
