It is being used across the organization to gain insights into customer behavior, garner feedback, and thereby inform future product development/updates.
  • Easy initial configuration
  • Easy to set up heatmaps
  • Responsive customer service team
  • Feedback module doesn't work as intended with trigger behavior
  • Easier way to group filters and save segments
For companies who want to dig more granularly through the data, and who don't have as much overhead capacity for ongoing maintenance, Mouseflow couuld be a great solution.

Mouseflow is used by both the SEO as well as the Web Design department. We use it along with other tools to get insights on how folks are using websites that we manage. Mouseflow has had some significant upgrades recently and has added additional functionality to its heat mapping and recording user sessions. If you have not used a tool like this and you are involved in any way in providing a better user experience on websites you are missing out. It is amazing what a tool like Mouseflow can tell you about how people use a website. It allows us to make design decisions based more strongly on data as opposed to experimentation.
  • Mouseflow does a great job creating wonderful Heat Maps. These allow you to really see how people are interacting with a page. Great data if you want to create better flow in your pages.
  • The User Session Recordings are also especially useful and when used in conjunction with the heat maps you can really get a feel and a look at how a page is working. This lets you see where people get stuck, elements that might be distracting, etc.
  • In the area of the heat maps Mouseflow can handle A/B testing which I think is priceless.
  • Another advantage to Mouseflow is that unlike many of these types of tools Mouseflow integrates with most Web platforms, well beyond WordPress.
  • Some of the recent changes have included the addition of a funnel builder as well as the ability to create forms. Hopefully, Mouseflow stays true to its core which is heat maps and recordings.
  • I won't say the features are hard to use, the platform is well laid out. What does take some time if you are not familiar with this type of data is getting a feel for what you are looking at. It is worth the time though.
These types of tools are not inexpensive so we pick and choose the site we are going to run it on. We do not generally use Mouseflow on websites that are not monetized in some way. However, if a web site has to perform a function such as sales, calls to action, etc. then this tool can make the job of making a page do what it is meant to do much easier. I think with the sophistication of both Web Site and Web Site users these types of tools are essential to creating the best UX possible.

I work for an eCommerce company named fourseven that sells consumer-based products online. We have been using Mouseflow for around the past 2 years to track customer activity on our website. It is being used by the marketing department of the organization. There are some days when we get a lot of traffic on the website but conversions are significantly less. In such a scenario, we use Mouseflow to check if there is any technical issue or other issues on the website that is hindering the conversion process. Mouseflow has really helped us to tackle certain technical issues of the website. We have been able to optimize our website for users thereby increasing the conversion rate. We use heatmaps to find out where customers spend most of the time on the website.
  • It can integrate easily with any platform that we use, like Magneto.
  • Anyone can use it without any thorough training. Also, videos are available to give an overview of the tool.
  • Free trial is available to get an insight into Mouseflow.
  • It is absolutely secure to use on your website.
  • The data captured or recorded by Mouseflow is pretty easy to read. You just need to login to your account and a dashboard will open consisting of all the recordings and heatmaps captured.
  • Free version could have more features.
  • Should be optimized for a better view on mobile devices.
  • Although it provides a complete list of data, it is not able to capture certain sessions.
If you are having a product or service-based website where you want a user to perform any action like form fill-up or making a purchase, then you should definitely use Mouseflow. I am sure that it will boost your conversions. Besides, you will optimize your website in a better way making it more user friendly.

I use Mouseflow to explore how users are interacting with websites that I build and manage. This helps me test for usability issues and understand how users are navigating the site in a way that aggregate analytics data doesn't provide. This has helped me identify problem areas of our sites and find solutions that help users have a better experience interacting with the site.
  • Reliable screen recording.
  • The ability to filter recorded sessions by a number of variables.
  • Heatmaps and scroll maps.
  • Screen recording on mobile devices can be a little clunky.
  • I would like to only record sessions from a specific geographic area, but don't have the option. I can filter afterwards, but would prefer to exclude traffic that is not local altogether.
  • Filtering options don't allow me to filter recordings based on a partial URL.
Mouseflow is well suited for marketers and website administrators who would like to record user activity on their website to solve marketing and usability problems. Out of all of the solutions that I've tried, Mouseflow has been the most reliable. They offer a free tier so you can get started with the service without the risk of investing budget in expensive software.

Mouseflow is currently being used by our Digital Marketing department to monitor multiple (6) brand websites. The information collected is used to monitor how our consumers are using our websites. Each of our brands has a different demographic, so Mouseflow provides us with the insight of what works for each brand's consumer group. This information is taken into consideration when we strategize future digital marketing campaigns. Additionally, as the web master, it helps me see what user interfaces need improvement. Before Mouseflow, we had zero transparency to how users were truly interacting with our website.
  • Website Recordings: Mouseflow provides website recordings that have a wealth of information and are easy to navigate. I can see what a user is doing from start to finish and what issues may have arose. I can even see a variety of variables including click-rage, form interaction, and more. I especially enjoy that I can tag or download a recording for future use.
  • Interface: The Mouseflow dashboard is set up with the user in mind. A left hand menu clearly outlines all of the features you can use. You just click a menu item once, and you can see all of the data you need. I use a number of online tools and Mouseflow is at the top of the list for ease of navigation.
  • Setup: Adding the Mouseflow tracking code is pretty simple and straight forward. If you have a WordPress site, they have a plugin and if you need to add it by hand, the instructions are very simple. The dashboard also immediately recognizes when the code has been added.
  • When first adding a new website to Mouseflow, I have encountered issues with receiving data. For example, I have one website that has 2 forms which are used fairly often. However, Mouseflow failed to recognize the forms automatically when I tried to add them for data collection. 4 months later, I was finally able to successfully add the forms.
  • The tracking pixel isn't perfect. Some interactions that occur on the website, such as form submission, isn't able to be seen by Mouseflow. This means I am unable to successfully track conversions. Alternatively other actions, such as a person filtering products, IS seen as a form submission.
  • It would be nice if the Mouseflow WordPress plugin was able to connect/recognize other frequently used plugins. For example, it would be easier to manage forms if the plugin could recognize Contact Form 7 data.
If you are looking to see what users are doing on your website, Mouseflow is perfect for this. You will be able to visually see their interactions via the recording feature, you can track what they are clicking via the Heatmap, you can see workflow tunnels, and so much more. Mouseflow in combination with other analytic tools ensures you never have to guess what your users are doing or experiencing.

If you are looking for solid, numerical data, Mouseflow may not be the perfect solution. You can see numbers on a surface level, but you aren't able to drill down much. For example, you can see the numerical value of how many users you have in a specific country. Want the same data on a state level? You just get the color coded information.

Currently Mouseflow is used by the digital product team to understand how customers are using our websites. Session recording is used to understand exactly how people are interacting with pages on site, and the heat maps help with understanding which areas of the site are viewed and where users are focusing their attention. These two Mouseflow features are great for quickly boosting understanding of problems users are having without having to immediately resort to more expensive user or lab testing.
  • Session recording shows exactly what users are doing on your website. When they scroll, what they click on, when they hesitate - you see the screen as they would see it.
  • Heat maps show you where users are clicking, how far down the page they scroll, where their mouse cursors spend most of their time and also which area of the page they dedicate the most attention to.
  • Form analytics show you how users are interacting with your forms - which fields they click into, how long they spend in each field and also which fields are causing them to drop out (is it that unneeded phone number field?).
  • Helps bolster your standard A/B testing tool so you can understand exactly how usage is differing between two scenarios, and makes it easier to settle disputes amongst colleagues about what will work best.
  • Session recording isn't exactly as a user would see it (e.g. it renders the HTML a user sees in your browser, rather than as they saw it). This means you might not see browser specific display quirks.
  • Session recording isn't perfect, especially on responsive sites or dynamic pages. Sometimes clicks register in the wrong place and what you see on screen doesn't line up exactly with what a user would have seen, and is more noticeable on mobile devices.
  • Form analytics requires a unique ID for each form. I've worked with a couple of CMS systems where this wasn't possible to achieve, so wasn't able to take advantage of this feature in all scenarios.
  • Tagging feature is useful, but it would be great if Mouseflow was able to capture all sessions and then only keep those sessions which match the criteria you're searching for (e.g. people encountering a specific error or visiting a particular page). This would make it easier to diagnose more complex, multi-page problems and understand how a user triggers them without using all of your monthly sessions.
Mouseflow is a great when you're working in a busy product development or conversion optimisation environment, and want to understand exactly how customers are interacting with your site or app so you can respond. It's a capable tool that offers some great insight at a fraction of the cost of competitors like SessionCam or ClickTale. It has occasional problems in captures that its competitors suffer from less often, but if you're looking for a general understanding of usage then this is a great tool. It doesn't have built-in integrations with all A/B testing tools, but it does have a built-in Google Tag Manager tag so its very easy to set up without assistance. If you've got the budget to select reliability over cost, then you may choose to opt for a more mature, enterprise offering. But if your budget is limited, or you're just looking to prove the value of session recording as a concept, then Mouseflow will more than do the job.
