Moz is used in order to do a couple of things for our company. Firstly, we are using it for competitive research purposes. Secondly, we are using it for research into new online marketing initiatives—such as content sharing and acquisition of citations.
  • Moz is good for determining site-wide backlink profiles
  • Moz is useful for determining the saturation of individual anchor-text terms
  • Moz is useful for competitive profiling—targeted keyphrases, earned links and content
Cons
  • When comparing the backlink data to Ahrefs or Majestic, Moz seems to provide less information
  • I would like to see the ability to make API calls from within microsoft power query
  • The reports sometimes take too long to process or load
It is a great all-around tool and easy for beginners to understand and learn. It is missing keyword research functionality in my opinion--but this is where the larger, more expensive enterprise tools (SEOClarity, BrightEdge, Conductor, etc) come into play. I feel it is still a solid tool to have at your disposal and very useful for any content marketing, SEO or digital media professional.

We use Moz across our marketing department for various clients. It's an important part of our SEO process. I find it most useful for competitive research, keyword tracking and for inbound link analysis.
  • Keyword Rankings and how competitors rank alongside you
  • Inbound link analysis - Includes domain authority of inbound links and anchor text used. This is helpful when comparing with Google Webmaster Tools as well.
  • Research Tools are also very good. On-Page Grader, rank tracker and keyword difficulty are all useful tools for analysis and assessing the competitive environment.
  • Be sure to sync up Google Analytics and social media when possible.
Cons
  • Would like to see the ability to add more competitors for rank tracking
  • Would like to see more competitive pricing for Moz Local and maybe combo packages for multiple locations
It's just a great tool for the money. It's ideally suited for tracking keyword performance over time against competitors. Crawls are done weekly so they don't put a strain on internal resources or artificially inflate your keyword queries. Try to link GA and any social media to your campaign(s) whenever possible.

I was using SEOmoz alone at my organization. Being the marketing manager for a 5,000 unit property management company, I used it to see how well my website was performing in terms of driving organic traffic from a really wide & large volume of keywords. It really helped address the problem of answering the questions: where does my traffic come from? What queries are they using to find us?
  • Interface: it is just so easy to use.
  • Clarity: It presents information in an easy to understand manner.
  • Robust: I didn't come across an SEO need that it did not meet.
  • Masterful: it was an incredible learning resource.
Cons
  • I'd like the weekly reports to be more intuitive
  • I'd like it to recommend actions for specific domains and keywords
  • I'd like the setup crawl to be faster.
I think that as long as you know what you're doing, you can use SEOmoz for any business.

SEOmoz is being used by our marketing department to help build and shape SEM strategies for our clients. It helps us to report on success and build cases for our recommendations
  • Actionable items
  • Providing keyword rankings
  • Giving a holistic view on how SEM effects your website and domain authority
  • Giving best practices, learning materials, providing information
Cons
  • Site can sometimes be slow
  • It can take a while for the system to crawl a website and provide keyword ranking output
Can there be multiple logins? Can you sync multiple campaigns or websites?

My editorial team uses Moz on a daily basis.

It helps us determine successful key words for articles, landing pages, and social media content. We use it to help us manage SEO.
  • Keyword selection - helps us choose the best keywords to target
  • Recommended keywords - sorting & filtering these results by audience reach is really helpful
  • On-page grading of SEO goes way beyond the basics & helps identify problems & solutions for SEO.
Cons
  • I would love a "click to compare" option for keywords. You can do this with larger campaigns, but often I am searching for a single-use keyword (for a blog post, for example) and want to compare the data for multiple keywords without using the page navigation.
I have found Moz to be way more beneficial than other services (such as Google's AdWords) both in its user-friendly layout and the depth of analysis the site can provide. Moz has helped us target keywords that we never would have thought of without its "suggested keyword" option helping us to see what users are actually searching for.
