Monitoring traffic, search visibility, and social visibility are made easy with Moz Pro, making it useful for clients, brands, and competitive analysis. The Open Site Explorer link data set and reporting tool are highly valued for tracking mentions and analyzing competition. Additionally, the Keyword Analysis tool aids in analyzing competition levels for target keywords. Moz Pro's Rank Tracker tool and Fresh Web Explorer track keyword rankings and mentions across the web. It is worth noting that Moz Pro is expanding its use beyond SEO departments and being utilized in other departments like web analytics and strategy. The software's ability to export data to create network maps of sites resonates well with other departments. Moz Pro is recommended by users as a tool suitable for beginners in digital marketing due to its wide range of features. • Leaders for information in the industry.
  • Tools are easy to use, especially when working on an offsite strategy, we find Open Site Explorer very useful.
  • Perfect source for beginners to advanced Search
  • Crawl test limit is too low
  • More tools to analyze social channel performance

  • Moz is good for determining site-wide backlink profiles
  • Moz is useful for determining the saturation of individual anchor-text terms
  • Moz is useful for competitive profiling—targeted keyphrases, earned links and content
  • When comparing the backlink data to Ahrefs or Majestic, Moz seems to provide less information

  • They help you track your brand mentions across the internet.
  • Help you get social insights
  • They really do a great job with customer service

  • Moz allows you to label keywords easily. This makes the data far more meaningful (and easy to organize) when you export week-over-week keyword rankings to Excel.
  • Moz's onpage grader is fantastic, because it runs each page through a check list of common sense SEO criteria and "grades" the page accordingly.
  • Moz's SERP analysis is really cool. Unlike the tool SEMRush provides, Moz doesn't just give you a breakdown of who's ranking for a given keyword--they show you how these sites stack up against each other in terms of domain authority, back links, linking domains, etc. Sometimes, meaningful patterns jump out of this information, providing us with a strategy to emulate.
  • Moz's crawler is very limited, but I consider it an add-on. If the crawler could receive positive instructions regarding which subdirectories to crawl, I wouldn't consider the 10,000 page cap to be a big deal.
  • Moz's on-page grader doesn't account for synonyms or keywords that are considered semantically identical by Google. For instance, a page that's ranking for "1st grade math worksheets" receives an "F" if the
  • I still have yet to figure out how to permanently sync Moz with our Google Analytics account. The plugin constantly gets disabled due to an issue I have yet to resolve.

  • Open Site Explorer: Their index of websites provides a very detailed view of where your competitors are located on the web. You can use this information to go after similar placements.
  • Analytics Dashboard: A great way of measuring your current rankings and how the on-page optimization contributes to these rankings. What do you need to improve upon to increase these rankings? While rankings aren't as important these days, it will always be important to the ego of your superior.
  • Mozinars: Hands-down the best way to learn about the latest trends in digital marketing. You always finish with a great new strategy to propose to your superiors/clients.
  • They need a lower cost product for those who just want the premium mozinars. It is so valuable for those starting off in the industry who don't have clients yet, but can't justify the price.

  • Open Site Explorer -- an awesome resource for building a better understanding of a site's link profile. This is definitely my most-used Moz feature and the best link analysis tool out there!
  • Fresh Web Explorer -- in SEO, we can forget about the importance of brand mentions. This is a recently discovered tool that I have added to my monthly reports to give my clients' a more complete picture.
  • I wish there was a better way to sort/filter results from inbound links within Open Site Explorer. For example, I'd love to be able to filter out internal inbound links from main navigation bars.
  • While Open Site does provide some social signals, I wish the information was more complete. Currently, there is only a snapshot beneath "Top Pages."

  • Keyword Ranking - ability to consistently track keyword changes across multiple domains. It is also easy to group keywords together and see different types (for example branded vs. non-branded)
  • Crawl Diagnostics - allows us to track and manage any website crawl errors. Moz also provides insight into the specific issues and how important they are in terms of affecting our site rank.
  • Open Site Explorer - gives us unlimited insight into website rankings. Allows us to determine which sites are worth contacting for possible partnerships and guest posts and how our competitors compare.
  • The biggest issue I have with Moz is that I feel like there are several tools and areas of the site that I am not taking advantage of because I don't know what is available. I find there is not a logical flow to moving through all the tools that can help a company assess all their SEO needs in a very step-by-step process.
  • Some of the tools in Moz are geared towards much larger companies and unfortunately don't apply to us. They do a lot of work around branding, brand mentions, tracking branded keywords etc. but as a company without a well recognized brand name, these tools don't apply. They need more tools geared towards smaller companies.

  • Moz has been and continues to be a key resource for thought leadership in the marketing industry. There are many blogs, etc. that regurgitate information, but Moz does a good job of being progressive and making sure they have reputable authors/content.
  • Open Site Explorer is a world class tool that provides easy navigation and accessible data. This is a strength because its ease of use can make the research process easier than other tools on the market.
  • Moz also does a good job of building and encouraging a sense of community, which is huge for the marketing world. Allowing users to create their own blog posts and communicate among each other alongside experts is a very empowering thing.
  • Every time I access the new Moz Analytics it tells me my client connection with Google Analytics is broken. This message appears even after I fix it and I've gotten to the point where I don't even try anymore.
  • It seems like their database is often the reason for fluctuation in their data and sometimes this can confuse clients when they see fluctuations.
  • Sometimes you get the feeling that Moz is more about monetization of its new products than providing a strong user experience. They make it very difficult to access legacy tools that functioned better than some of the new ones.

  • The ability to track our competition and what they are (and are NOT) doing well is extremely beneficial.
  • The ease of use of all of the tools and the explanations of what the tools does and how to make it work are fantastic!
  • The only negative I would have with MOZ would be the once a week reports, could we get them daily? (Once a week is actually fine, but I had to say something!)

  • Keyword and ranking tool - great for keyword research.
  • SEO toolbar - great for easily accessing all of my favorite tools right while browsing the web.
  • The Moz Blog has great blog posts and is great for keeping up-to-date on the latest online marketing trends and updates.
  • I would love it if the on-page grader could give you recommendations for keywords to optimize the page for.
  • There is a twitter analytics tool, it would be amazing if there were an analytics tool for all other social media.
  • A social media optimization program would be wonderful.

  • Website Crawl Diagnostics - finding the issues that aren't readily apparent that hurt your organic SEO results
  • They do a great job at graphically representing the vast amount of data that has been compiled about your site
  • Keyword and opportunity recommendations
  • Competitive Analysis
  • The initial results take a while to compile especially if it is a large site. This can take a day to a week to get initial results.
  • They could streamline the reporting aspects of the crawl diagnostics report. At current you have to visit several screens to see what the recommended fixes are.
  • They could add LinkedIn to the Social Reach features.

  • Weekly reports on search engine rankings and keywords.
  • Insights into all areas of search, social and other marketing efforts effect on search.
  • I love the additional tools included in the pro account. Followerwonk helps us with Twitter reporting. Fresh Web Explorer helps us stay on top of links back to our site.
  • More integrated approach with research tools.
  • I'd love to see Moz add in Google AdWords keyword and advertising competitive intelligence research.
  • The analytics portion of the account feels very unfinished. While it provides a great deal of surface level reporting I want the details and specifics of performance. Looking for it to replace Google Analytics at some point in the future.
  • I wish there were a way to separate out press release mentions from our primary domain and Moz web mentions. It's not really beneficial to us, but we're still measured by it. Same for clients.
  • I also wish that we could buy more keywords per client vs. having to upgrade or modify down our keywords to make room for others on the account. It's not really within our budget to increased the amount we spend on it, but we're only really lacking in keywords. Pricing structure could use an update.

  • The Open Site Explorer function of Moz works really well for analyzing competitor sites and finding opportunities for our own
  • The Moz toolbar extension (for Chrome or Firefox) is also a really good way to gauge the quality and usefulness of sites and listings in the search results
  • We like their community and Q&A support section for answering any advanced questions we might have
  • Their Fresh Web Explorer has some uses for seeing new links, although it's not as robust as others
  • The link index isn't as fast updating or as large as competitors Majestic SEO and Ahrefs
  • The new Moz Analytics hasn't really lived up to the potential or hype generated before the launch
  • The Chrome extension can be laggy and take a few refreshes to get the data for a website
  • In general there is a lot of potential for better and speedier integration with all the data and acquired tools they have, but it doesn't feel too zippy or intuitive

  • One stop dashboard - integrates data from Google Analytics and social networks. Highlights good/bad changes since last period.
  • Keyword rankings over time - you can very quickly see if your keywords are improving or falling in the SERPs. Worth the price of submission on its own!
  • Pages to optimize - gives you a detailed list of which pages need your attention, grading them A-F
  • Crawl diagnostics - quickly see a list of errors that crawlers are finding on your site, shows total pages in indexes, etc
  • Competitive metrics - compare your data with your top competitors so you can see how to beat them!
  • There is always the worry that the link profile is giving "spammy links" more credibility than they deserve in the domain trust algorithm. There's really no way to compare mozrank with google's pagerank.. but it would be nice to be able to mark links as spam a la LinkResearchTools

  • The individual tools are extremely easy to use and understand - by breaking them out individually, it allows users to find very specific data points to use to make decisions. This allows for a deeper and more precise view into the performance of your online marketing vehicles.
  • The development of the APIs was a huge step in scaling SEOmoz's expertise - this allowed us to build a set of data tools around KPIs that were important to our customers, and allowed the sales team and customers to quickly identify strengths and weaknesses in their digital marketing efforts.
  • Visual keys - along with the simplicity of use of the tools, the visuals built in allow the story to unfold for an audience that normally would get confused and turn off due to a lack of clarity and understanding of the online behaviors.
  • After detailing how I like the individuals tools, there are times when I would like to have the option to bundle 2-4 tools and run a single request for a digital property to get that 30,000ft quickly.
