What is SharePoint?

MS SharePoint / SQL refers to Microsoft Sharepoint, a web-based collaborative platform, being used in tandem with Microsoft SQL Server to provide business intelligence analytics and reporting. They can provide BI content such as data connections, reports, scorecards, dashboards, and more.

With Sharepoint, users can share files, data, news, and resources. Sites can be customized to streamline teams’ work. Team members can collaborate inside and outside the organization, across PCs, Macs, and mobile devices.

Sharepoint also supports the ability to discover data, expertise, and insights to inform decisions and guide action. SharePoint’s content management features, along with connections and conversations surfaced in Yammer, enable organizations to maximize their velocity of knowledge.

Users can also accelerate productivity by transforming processes—from tasks like notifications and approvals to operational workflows. With SharePoint lists and libraries, Microsoft Flow, and PowerApps, they can create digital experiences with forms, workflows, and custom apps for every device.

We use a lot of M365 products and hence the reason we decided to use SharePoint as it would make the integration part a bit easier. We use it mainly for data storage and company wide communication or document sharing. SharePoint makes the data sharing and collaboration part more convenient which is quite helpful as we have lots of branches in the company that require different fractions of data at a given time.

In my opinion, Microsoft SharePoint is replacing traditional servers because the view from the top is that this approach is cheaper. However, my organization does not provide sufficient support or training to make Microsoft SharePoint/OneCloud/MS365 truly an effective aid to productivity. I find myself envious of colleagues whose organizations outsourced to Google rather than Microsoft (MS). It also seems ironic that MS one had this product, Word, that beat out its main competitor, WordPerfect, by having around 70% as many features and implementing them in a simpler and more robust manner. In my opinion, Google Workspace is now doing that to MS.

We decided to go hybrid with our tech strategy. Specifically, we wanted to move our onPrem file server to a cloud solution to provide easier & secure access anywhere on any device to our job files for our internal & external users. We were already using Outlook locally and OWA via O365 along w/other cloud based MS-OFFICE apps and it was an easy choice due to the integration & collaborative options offered within Microsoft SharePoint.

In our organization, we are using SharePoint for saving important data. It serves as a database for all the employees. On SharePoint, we can collaborate in real-time without any hassle. If someone is working on a file it can show the edits or changes to other employees as well. On SharePoint, we can also make private folders that are shared with some specific people so files in a particular folder are not visible to others.

We use Microsoft SharePoint for storing, managing, sharing, and controlling access to different types of documents among ourselves within the company. It addresses the controlling of document access at different levels and types. Microsoft SharePoint has the requirement of creating different sites and site pages for different departments within the organization and also can be used for different content.

SharePoint is used as the company communication tool to share company news. We also use it to share important documents and as a resource library to find company information. As far as the business problems I think the Product addresses is connecting the company to important information that would otherwise be missed If we did not have or utilize SharePoint.

We are using SharePoint as a replacement for our corporate network file server. Primarily we are using SharePoint for document sharing and collaboration, before releasing the document to our formal document control system (electronic quality management system).

R&D is the largest user group, but the whole organization is using SharePoint. Most of the collaboration is being done in project teams. We've set up SharePoint so that each project team has their allocated SharePoint site.

As a training manager[,] I have to collaborate with different teams to arrange training, distribute training materials, and conduct TNA. This has been made possible by MS Sharepoint. All the tools in one place and easy collaboration with coworkers made my work simple and convenient. For the last few days[,] further integration between services like Outlook and Teams really reduce the discomfort of inputting the same data in several places. There are still some gaps here and there, but you can survive without them.

MS SharePoint makes it simple to set up access levels based on user roles and privileges. In terms of security and project management, it’s a great tool. Because everyone had access to SharePoint, it was possible to work from home during this period of uncertainty. We use it across departments because we have many client projects in our offices. Project resources and training materials are organized with Microsoft SharePoint. In addition, we have access to classified documents. Its simplicity and ease of use are among my favorite aspects of the product. This feature enables us to easily share anything we want within the group with a few mouse clicks. We can also set permissions to read, write or both. I’m satisfied with the platform’s functionality and design.

MS SharePoint is being used by the whole organization. It is a great way to store and organize documents across departments and have permission-based access. This allows fewer emails to be sent as everything is being stored in the cloud. Now we don't have to use file servers or third-party companies to send and receive large files.

Sharepoint is the best alternative to traditional physical hard drives. It's safe to store files in cloud which makes it more secure and less likely to get lost. We have implemented this across our organization after a major cyberattack happened to our company back in 2017. It works in the cloud so can be accessed from anywhere. It has a dedicated mobile application for easy access. It organizes files very neat and tidy.

MS SharePoint is being used across my whole organization through subscriptions to MS Office 365. We primarily use MS SharePoint to store and share documents on a per department basis, with some MS SharePoint sites being available to the whole staff.

MS Sharepoint organizes our documents and other materials into folder libraries within a custom website and provides sharing tools and rules specific to that site.

SharePoint is used by my organization to store and organize team and department files. Various departments send SharePoint links in order to share files with each other. Our IT department also uses it to submit and track help tickets for employees. It is also used for the storage and organization of proposals and contracts.

We use MS SharePoint in a variety of ways. First, it is an excellent shared file depository. You can collaborate with people across campus by placing the file in SharePoint and allowing the people on the team on which you are working access. Thanks to the capabilities of office you can all edit the document in a single place and don't have to worry about people downloading their own copies and different revisions developing. We also use this feature as a sort of wiki to show changes over time. I also use the calendar feature quite a bit. It is helpful for tracking past events and planning those in the future. The color coding features are nice so you can run parallel calendars over top of one another. The last feature I like is setting up a landing page or home page that you can use to keep people that maybe don't use the SharePoint site as regularly up to date on the project or area that you have developed.

MS Sharepoint is the platform that we use for our employee intranet site. It's a great document repository and content management system that can house a multitude of information from all departments in one location. Access is based on active directory settings connected to Office 365. We also use file sharing features to restrict document/content access.

This is being used across the entire organization. It allows for great collaboration among teams and departments. It also makes it very easy to share information with everyone in the company and with external individuals. It can also be used for file storage to take the place of local storage to alleviate storage management needs on premise.

Our organization heavily depends on MS SharePoint for better collaboration, thereby improving the productivity. As SharePoint is well connected with all Microsoft Office components, this made the organization business more efficient and overall better for all employees and customers.

I can proudly vouch for the fact that our organization has leveraged all the possible features provided by SharePoint, transforming it into many products, applications, and content management. As this is a web based product, SharePoint was adopted to most of the solutions in the enterprise, and can be treated as a best case on how a product can be converted in many different ways.

Our organization was able to understand the business requirements and have trimmed the platform, serv[ing] all those requirements without depending on other technologies. With the introduction of Power platforms, SharePoint was able to take our organization to extraordinary levels, which I believe would have been impossible with any other technology. In a nutshell, SharePoint have done miracles for our organization in every aspect and is still going strong.

MS SharePoint is being used by our entire organization to provide a centralized home for document sharing and collaboration. On a specific level, this has helped us with process documentation and version control on the many different important work products we have. One of my favorite features is the ability to concurrently edit documents with my colleagues. No more "v5.3_aa" again!

We use SharePoint for our local intranet site. Its been set as everyone's home page with a blog set up as the landing page. We primarily use it for sharing files, wikis and calendars. The search functions work well enough when files are uploaded with appropriate metadata. For the most part we run an out of the box, basic configuration to ensure future versions of SharePoint won't break anything we currently have set up.
