We use NetApp for snapshots, snap vaults and snap mirrors. This is our preferred method for resolving our issues around ensuring we have quick and easy access to "older versions" of data. It is far quicker than the traditional method of backing up data. We use this solely to protect client data.
  • Takes very quick copies of data.
  • Ensures easy access.
  • A better user interface as some things still have to be with command line.
It is well suited to take hourly copies of data due to how quickly it does this. So far example, data that is used by multiple users at multiple times of the day is easy to present to the user if they make a mistake. It can be quickly recovered and also means the users can self-remediate.

  • Enables us to recover data very quickly reducing time to recreate documents.

We leverage NetApp's SnapMirror at both the volume level and full SVM level for our NAS & SAN workloads for disaster recovery between multiple datacenters and Cloud locations. All of our NetApp storage systems are set up to use SnapMirror to help protect our data between sites for a really fast and reliable recovery option.
  • Ease of use.
  • Reliable.
  • Efficient.
  • Integrate with other technology providers.
  • Improve the initial Synch Process.
  • Make custom schedule creation easier.
NetApp SnapMirror has been used in our specific environment for a very long time and is well suited for implementing quick and seamless recovery point objectives and vaulting data for required periods of time as well. I would not recommend leveraging SnapMirror as your only disaster recovery solution as it is not intended to be an enterprise solution sole DR posture.
  • Retention capabilities.
  • Ease of use.
  • Reliability.
  • NetApp SnapMirror has allowed us to recover critical data in a timely manner on multiple occasions.
  • We have been able to decrease our RPO objectives.
  • We have been able to decrease our DR costs as well.
We chose NetApp's SnapMirror solution primarily because it was already integrated and licensed on our storage platforms. This allowed us to have a very fast implementation time and really allowed us to quickly close the learning gap of our administrators. Not only is NetApp SnapMirror easy to use, but it is also really easy to set up. IBM's product seemed quite difficult to set up and it would have taken our team much more time (which we don't have) to learn that product than NetApp's SnapMirror.

Well from my perspective we provide end-to-end support for NetApp Snapmirror. Troubleshooting issues like snapshot policy on the source and SnapMirror policy on destination( i.e. DR site). Currently, we have a large customer base and we have overhauled around 500+ SnapMirror relations this year. Response of business is quite spectacular.
  • It's a data protection Technology.
  • Highly stable.
  • Replicates read only backup copies from source to DR.
  • Cascade SnapMirror.
  • Broader bandwidth.
  • High resiliency.
Response time is quite good. It is very easy to set up and use. Also, the filesystem which manages the snapshots work on your WAFL that is re-direct on write. Highly stable and efficient. There are very few or no scenarios where we have faced a customer complaint related to NetApp SnapMirror. Customers were quite satisfied with this DR solution.
  • Business continuity.
  • High fault tolerance.
  • Point in time data replication and restores for snapshot.
  • Well no negative impact yet.
  • There are no hindrances related to ROI.
  • Breaking the snapmirror relationship will cause the volume to be RW which causes some problems.
Well, the different products have different portfolios and their ups and downs. ONTAP Select is used for deploying HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure ) solutions or deploying the VM on the cloud. Whereas if we see the NetApp FAS series it is a NetApp NAS solution. NetApp Snapmirror is a Disaster Recovery solution that provides us snapshots and data when a disaster occurs.

The business is banking as well as the Financial sector. Also a lot of customers have switched recently to NetApp. We have a lot of functional areas where we see this technology is a keen factor for dependency as most of the data is been stored as snapshot copies which are then replicated to the DR site.

The type of skill required to provide support on NetApp is we to persuade NetApp learning site and do the NCDA certification which will definitely increase your talent and interest in learning NetApp. Also, it is high time now for NetApp that all the products are booming like hell. So it is a pretty good time to start a career as a NetApp Admin now.

  • On Premises(i.e. Snapmirror at Customer site) to GCP replication
Very well versed and a good product to deal with downtime to recover from the failure is pretty good. Also, NetApp's engagement on Incident calls is very professional and humble. I would give a 100% rating to this product as I have been working on this for the past 5 years. It is stable, fast and highly reliable

Everything mentioned able can be evaluated as an important factor as NetApp has been a reputable and very visionary product. Its cost is also pretty good as compared to the EMC Symmetrix and Isilon. It is way good in terms of response as well. Factors that make it better are its ease of use and certainty.
Well, I have seen and worked on a lot of products may it be a Backup solution, a SAN solution, NAS solution. I have tasted the flavor of each tech which is good for the experience. I would recommend everyone to go for the solutions which save time, money and effort. And NetApp is the product that does that.
