At MOJ, we use Nuxeo as a backbone of all applications related to archiving and digitization. It serves as a central repository for all real-estate documents nationwide. Nuxeo helped us automate our business processes with ease and flexibility with great and predictable scalability under very demanding workloads.
  • Process automation
  • Scalability
  • Deployment flexibility
  • Low-code platform
  • Issues with highly orchestrated containerized deployments
Having tried competing products in the same segment, I would easily recommend Nuxeo. Not only are they doing a great job at building a highly flexible content platform, but the team behind it is supportive and dedicated.

The basic usage of Nuxeo in our organization is as digital asset management, and after that, it is used as a document repository in our premises. It has been a hectic task to manage digital assets before, but with Nuxeo, we can manage millions of our assets using the hybrid model. It is good enough to provide a solution to our content retention.
  • Its integration is not only just simple, but it also offers flexibility.
  • They are improving themselves continuously and provide updates.
  • Its customization is highly evident.
  • The document repository is its other strength.
  • Its documentation is not enough.
  • We have randomly selected as there is no select-all option.
  • Installation of this tool takes a bit long and it should be resolved.
It is a must-try software for companies that want customizable solutions, and it is a profoundly adaptive tool. We can manage metadata, and it is good to expand your organization and take your organization up and build a trustworthy name in the tech market. It is favorable for all-sized organizations as it generates solutions that perfectly match an organization's needs.

We use Nuxeo to store and manage curriculum content. Nuxeo stores binary assets and references to external assets that are used in a course. We combine this with a CDN for use within the actual course. It includes a highly customized taxonomy, workflows, intellectual property rights management, and permissions around usage and curation.
  • Ability to customize the taxonomy
  • Robust API
  • Create workflows around ingestion and curation
  • Customizing the UI requires a lot of effort and technical knowledge
  • Nuxeo Cloud environment is not robust or mature
  • Troubleshooting errors is difficult
Nuxeo is good in its core functionality of typical DAM functions. It is also very customizable but requires a high level of technical ability for customization. This would be a difficult system to manage without a development team. Actual work by the developers is not overly difficult but does require a dedicated team that is familiar with the Nuxeo infrastructure.

Nuxeo is currently being used as a Digital Media and Asset Management system. Specifically, it is used to capture our video masters [and] create consumables of those videos as well as manage some of our other digital media assets. It is used by the Publishing Department, which creates almost all of the video and other digital assets. Some departments do still manage some of their assets independently, yet there seems to be a slow and consistent movement to Nuxeo, which is still very new in our organization. The assets under management in Nuxeo are used to represent the Church globally.

Nuxeo provides a platform that is flexible and dynamic for us. We have applied its capabilities to create more collaboration and access to our digital assets. We are able to tailor the system to do some unique things such as enrich our assets with data from other systems via integrations for Product, Rights and Project Management.
  • Allows customization
  • Leverages APIs
  • Offers a cookbook of add-on capabilities
  • The ability to round-trip the actual data with the content model from Studio in a visual way
  • The ability to decompile complex multi-valued fields so the contents can be used in a filter
Nuxeo works very well for us as a Digital Media Asset Management tool. I understand given its flexibility, it has also been used for managing insurance claims. It seems to be well suited for uses where some customization is required, yet there is a desire to leverage best practices, reusable code components.

Nuxeo is being used at the level of my department. We are using it for the purpose of creating applications with low code requirements facilitating internal efficiencies, and improving the interaction between the employees. It addresses the problem of the absence of a tool letting make such kinds of highly personal and customizable applications.
  • User management
  • Low code operations
  • Easiness of deployment
  • Superb user interface
  • Less content about app online
  • Documentation
  • Integration
  • Costing
Digital asset management
No code/low code app designing and deployment
Won't be that much preferable if you are looking for software with a nice amount of guides/tutorials online

We purchased Nuxeo as the basis for our Content Service Platform to fill the Digital Asset Management Space and track the millions of digital assets we have as an organization. We use it for image, audio, and video assets for our production teams across the globe. It has helped us centralize management and enable archive and lifecycle management.
  • Low code
  • Strong, flexible data model
  • Easily configure custom business rules
  • Flexible UI
  • Bulk actions need work
  • The UI needs maturing
  • Spreadsheet editor needs improvement
I like to describe Nuxeo as getting you 90% of the way to wherever you want to go, but 100% of the way to nowhere. This 10% allows flexibility to add your own custom business rules and operations. This is different than a complete off-the-shelf solution that provides 100% of a solution but does not give you the flexibility that you need. If you want a platform that can adjust to your needs, use Nuxeo. If you are looking for a turnkey solution that will get you off the ground 100 % of the way out of the gate, other options may be better for you.

We use Nuxeo for:
  • User management and as an identity provider to other software components
  • CMS - content management - binary files that are used by other software components
It's being used in 3 products in which I am involved. However, it is also used by other parts of the organization.
  • Upload, store and manage permissions for binary files
  • Provides automation for content management tasks
  • User and identity management
  • Public documentation - it has some + public forums, but we felt more is needed
  • Back-end management - the web UI is fancy, but it sometimes translates to some tough to understand implementations
  • Starting sequence of on-premise installations - Java gibberish in the logs; sifting is required to identify real issues from acceptable ones
  • No built-in monitoring and performance alerting
Although it has a fancy web UI, some community content going on, and active support, the back-end part of Nuxeo appears convoluted - I feel such is the case with all middleware components that provide a fancy UI over-complicated implementations & auto-generated code. Nuxeo is used when a company wants to solve several challenges at once - CMS use cases. [In my opinion] Nuxeo has a learning curve. It's a Java application, but its use by Java developers in a dynamic environment (lots of work, less time to learn and iterate) is really problematic.

Ingests all content types, enriches creative processes with materials, commerce, and other contextual data. Creation of configurable workflows that empower the digital content supply chain. Pushes finished assets to web, social and other systems.
  • Upload and enrich[ment] of content
  • Automates file conversions, notifications and other administrative tasks
  • Reviewing, annotation and transforming of all types of digital assets
  • Digital publishing
  • UI not so good to handle
  • Studio license is costly
  • Inability to edit documents from within the repository
Nuxeo's open architecture is one attribute that stands out. Powerful integrations make it easy for the development of custom connections and integrations.

When I came to work in the organization as a product advisor, they already chose Nuxeo as the main tool for working with content. My role was to adapt the content strategy, including all business processes, to this tool and launch continuous delivery of content to users through a dedicated website.
  • Super fast and usable search
  • You can compose your own workflow process with content
  • Fast content loading, performance is must for SEO
  • Great content analytics out of the box
  • Too hard to start, onboarding need to be improved
  • Some UI elements are not usable
If you need to organize the entire process of preparing and publishing content for your target audience from scratch, then Nuxeo is a very good choice. You can design key points of interaction between content preparation participants and users and then improve the processes by observing analytics. If you are just looking for an alternative to WordPress, then this may not be for you since the interaction of all participants is more difficult here.

Nuxeo is very amazing software with many helping windows for its users. We use Nuxeo as a team to cooperate, to manage us combinedly. It helps us to make smart content applications for the customers and helps us to improve our decision furthermore. It is a complete platform addressing so many business solutions for us. They do monitor, manage, and govern our documents and led us further to add more value for ourselves and for our clients as well. It helps us to modernize our digital supply chain by managing our media and entertainment content.
  • Their modern approaches and broad analysis about content is super.
  • Its strategical techniques about accelerating any kind of product launching will lead them more ahead.
  • Any kind of media-related content can easily be available with so many positive reaches.
  • Well, Nuxeo is an amazing software, always providing its users or developers what they need actually.
  • It's tough for getting full set up and capabilities for early users.
  • For uploading documents each and every time needed lots of support.
  • I had faced with a problem of raising my ticket and it returned with no reply.
  • But still it is top most software to use.
Nuxeo is the very best in open source document management systems, best in open source content management solutions, best for its huge storage abilities, and best for its versatile and all extendable features. After maintaining and managing documents Nuxeo uses its own AI to add more value for its client and that is really helpful. It manages all of your records, does collaborate even when necessary. It is based on a cloud operating system that can use from anywhere.

I am using it as a digital asset management platform. Another use is document depository, saving a resource but doing the job more accurately. The user interface is too good and a breeze to use. It can easily be operated by almost any level and any department. Minimal to no training required. I’ll recommend it to anyone.
  • Ability to search
  • Amazing support
  • Regular updates
  • I felt like select all button is missed
  • Back button in fitters section is also not there
  • The community is limited
It has amazing customization and configuration options and is well suited for any organization, any size. It enables any business to operate in a decent manner and enables you to create programs which can assist you and your team properly without over efforts with the training. Its UI is very friendly and can be accessed properly even by a starter.

Nuxeo is being used by my company, especially for the engineering department and the marketing department. It is used as Digital asset management (DAM). It's really easy to use and powerful enough to manage the media/digital assets of the company. It's helpful to use the Nuxeo as DAM for marketing purpose.
  • Different files types management
  • Easy to customize the Nuxeo platform
  • Many add-ons to use
  • Less details in documents
  • Small community
  • Less tutorials online
The Nuxeo is well developed for DAM and it's easy to customize it. However, it's difficult to find more details on the official documents and online tutorials. It's more suitable for the teams with Nuxeo development experience.

I have worked on Nuxeo projects for enterprise digital asset management and media asset management (for video production). These have been large-scale deployments, in some cases involving millions of assets and petabytes of data, in both a cloud-based and hybrid model. We have deployed it to replace disparate and/or legacy systems, often in cases where all enterprise staff are potential end users and adoption is key.
  • Adaptability - Nuxeo is a well-supported platform that provides the foundation and building blocks to meet many different possible use cases
  • API-first
  • Nuxeo University provides solid e-learning paths for developers and administrators
  • Written documentation could be improved
Nuxeo can be an ideal product for an enterprise that needs a highly-customizable solution built on a well-supported underlying platform. It is not intended to be an out-of-the-box solution; rather, it is a foundation for enterprises that want to be able to adapt it to their specific use cases while still having the benefits of regular updates and fast support.

We often propose Nuxeo as an ECM solution to customers that are looking to move off of FileNet and IBM Content Manager. We have proposed it for many different use cases, including digital asset management, enterprise content management, and case management. When proposing Nuxeo as a solution to prospective customers, we often see that Nuxeo solves a variety of different business problems, including content retention; easy, desktop based file access (Nuxeo Drive); and document-/asset-based workflows.
  • Low code
  • Cloud support
  • Studio configuration
  • Rich and extensible rest API
  • Documentation
Nuxeo is great for most DAM, ECM, and case management scenarios that come across its path. Nuxeo is also a great replacement for slow, old IBM FileNet.

Nuxeo is being used for its DAM capabilities and storing course-based content for use, reuse, and archiving. Nuxeo gives us the ability to tag content, know where we are using it in a course, know if we have the correct IP Rights and if the content has been approved internally for use.
  • Customized metadata management
  • Content workflows
  • User management
  • Search management
  • Nuxeo internal problem resolution process
  • User Interface customizations
  • Developer access to code
Nuxeo is very customizable but requires engineers to make the most of the major changes. It has a good overall performance. The AWS infrastructure is good but there is room for improvement as the system matures. UI is fair but the customization is clunky. Overall, iterative changes are possible with a good architecture in place.

We use Nuxeo across the enterprise as both a content repository, and as a way to federate metadata and search access to content held in other internal and third-party repositories.
  • Ease of deployment.
  • Adaptable to any type of content or metadata.
  • Modern technologies and architecture at its core.
  • Scales well.
  • Documentation is often unclear or lacking robust examples (though continues to improve over time).
  • Integration with modern enterprise identity management providers could be improved.
  • The ability to isolate data and indexes at the back end, to allow greater flexibility in very large enterprises, would be helpful.
Nuxeo is very well suited for anyone who wants a flexible content management solution that deploys easily, both on-prem and in the cloud, and who either has a simple use-case or who have more complex use cases and the means to customize and/or integrate it to other business applications or UIs.

Nuxeo is currently being used across most of the organization globally to find and surface assets to other people. Before, people had problem finding assets and would often reshoot items that already existed, or they would have to reach out regionally to receive those assets. We also had many digital asset management systems in use globally, but we are slowly beginning to sunset those systems in favor of one global platform that everyone can use.
  • Searchability
  • Support for its customers
  • Continuous improvements to functionality
  • Lack of a select all button in Nuxeo
  • Lack of a back button when in the filters
Nuxeo is well suited to be used as a digital asset management system. It is good to be used as a central repository for images and information, and is set up well to distribute assets as well. Our company is trying to reduce the usage of WeTransfer and Dropbox as well, and to this end Nuxeo can hold assets that are only meant to be seen by some people. I would not recommend Nuxeo as any other tool however, and it is not a replacement for a robust SPM tool or copy management tool.

We have used Nuxeo for seven years. We have designed, developed, and deployed organization-wide applications like global creative DAM, knowledge management, privacy/GDPR, invoice automation, and contract management and provisioned them to our 14,000 employees on Nuxeo Cloud.
  • API first strategy
  • Support and consultancy
  • Product roadmap/vision
Small business: This is probably not for you.
Midsize business: Potentially, if you plan to extend your organization and have a vision where to take your business technology.
Enterprise business - Nuxeo allows you to dream big and create solutions that fit your business without taking you down a one-way path, locking you in. Extreme flexibility. This is like LEGO, a giant pile of pieces. You build what you have in mind and you can always change it as you grow--future proof.

Is [the] CMS that acts as repository for our content produced with ContentCloud (authoring tool) and Learning Cloud (consumer), storing, versioning and deploying the content to be delivered using AWS and S3. We use it as a blackbox, not directly but using a proxy app (we call it Metis) that works with a simplified API against our products and with REST API with Nuxeo
  • Complete API options
  • Nuxeo Studio helps a lot
  • Good documentation
  • Good extensions through plugins
  • Requires a lot of training for developers
  • Cost is really a problem
  • Adaptability for our industry of e-learning requieres a lot of work
  • Taxonomies and ontologies are really restricted, and not scalable by tenant
If you use Nuxeo directly, their interfaces and logic, then I would recommend Nuxeo, creating direct apps working with Nuxeo really works well, but not using a third app that acts as a proxy or intermediarie.
If you have extensive document management requirements then I would recommend Nuxeo, but not for simple uses cases

We use Nuxeo in several capacities. The primary use of Nuxeo is as a Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform. Broadly, branding assets with version control, documents with both frequent and infrequent accesses and CDN for component assets for online properties.<br><br>The second use case is as a document repository. Any files we generate, store or reference are to be handled by Nuxeo.
  • Performant as a scaled asset repository.
  • Customizable with existing technology staff (Java).
  • Flexible integration (ReSTful APIs).
  • Low-code & No-Code customizations could go deeper.
  • Installation can be a bit dicey for new developers.
  • Core concepts could be better documented for self learning.
Leveraging Nuxeo for highly performant integrations where millions or billions of files/assets may be encountered is a prime use case for Nuxeo. Consider an insurance company generating contracts and policy documents, or a bank generating statements or a large print-house managing mailers.

Customizing the document shapes in Nuxeo allows for incredible flexibility in managing metadata to describe assets, granting agility for future-forward discovery of assets as new capabilities are added.

Flexible integration with a wide variety of systems using integration platforms like Apigee or Mulesoft for example, as well as more directly via ReSTful APIs and even out of the box tools like a Salesforce connector for example, make Nuxeo an easy choice for a medium to large enterprise.

Nuxeo is used by certain areas in our company that deal with content management and critical business areas that require dynamic management of terms and conditions. It proves out to be an excellent platform that delivers content and data real-time. This platform does not require too much of coding and is a very user friendly application.
  • The platform has Lots of option to protect assets, review and share with the required people.
  • It provides a seamless transition from SharePoint which is extremely useful for our business as we have tons of data stored on SharePoint.
  • It is a powerful tool, especially for searching - since the indexing is super fast unlike other platforms.
  • During a software update - if one issue is fixed, others are broken. Proper regression testing is required.
  • Customization is bit difficult in as documentation is not as powerful. This area could be improved.
  • It has to enable bulk uploading of documents, it requires Nuxeo support assistance for this feature and this is a paid service.
I'd definitely recommend this tool to others as the overall functionality is very usable and useful. Document uploading, content management is taken care very well. As it is an open source tool, it comes without cost which is the best part but it would require some added security for larger companies to adopt. Security and access based control are one of the most important features.
