I don't think there is any negative impact. Those who don't know how to use the tool are likely not to use it, so there is no risk for negative impact other than the cost of the license.

OneNote saves time and money. You don't need to pay for an expensive note taking system when this exists. It's completely functional.

OneNote enables me to share notes and content with others easily, and allows me to take my work with my with ease.

For my thesis work, having OneNote enabled me to record sessions with my advisor while taking text notes. Once I returned home, all of my data was waiting for me on my desktop where I could pick up where I left off.

Documentation is difficult for our team because we are always too busy to take time to do it. OneNote has made that much easier because we can quickly write notes down then rework them into something other members can reference.
