OneStream is used for consolidated management reporting of actual results, rolling forecasting and reporting processes linked to consolidated reporting results, including financial close accounts reconciliations, task manager, sustainability, Tax, legal entity, Capex and supply chain non-financial reporting.
The business need we address with OneStream is to create a full stack of performance management reports where reported numbers align with the financial management reporting structure and various angles can be created in a consistent manner and additional dimensions can be added to the reported data for the right business insights.
The scope of our use case is full management performance reporting, integrated with our financial planning as well as our operational business planning and supply chain processes.
  • Share reporting dimension hierarchies across reporting processes
  • extend dimensions as needed to the requirements of individual processes
  • provide prebuilt, downloadable solutions allowing for quick time to market of reporting solutions
  • extend reporting beyond traditional financial reporting processes to create in depth business insights
  • Provide some more prebuilt dashboards that serve as reference examples for specific topics, to allow users to gain an idea of all that is possible
  • Provide some clear cut explanations to explain some of the standard concepts, to allow companies that start their implementation to gain a quick understanding of how things work
OneStream is well suited for any level of consolidated financial reporting, but becomes especially strong when adding forecast/planning reporting and integrating with other reporting and analysis processes that need to be aligned and reconciled with the financial reporting structure. For this reason, OneStream supports a wide variety of processes with varying levels of dimensionality. Due to the ability to share reporting and dimension structures where needed, new processes can be deployed quickly without gaps. And the data seeding between scenarios allows for re-purposing one dataload in as many reporting processes as needed, ensuring that everyone works with the same version of the truth. The growing number of prebuilt, downloadable solutions from the Market Place offer options to customers that allow for deploying of new processes quickly, without customers having to invent the solution on their own.

We use OneStream for our monthly financial consolidation and reporting. We were able to remove over 20 hours a month from our close process by moving to OneStream. Along with removing hours, we are able to produce better and more accurate results each month. <br>Along with the Consolidation tool, we implemented the Planning/Forecasting tool. For the first time, the company now has budgets for each department that we can track and report against. This has given us even more insight into our spending.

OneStream is well suited for producing monthly results and consolidations. It has saved our company hundreds of hours since we went live a year ago. I have more confidence in our results than I had with our prior consolidation tool. We can now produce monthly results in minutes vs hours which allows the finance and operations teams more time to analyze results vs pulling the data.

We currently use OneStream for financial close process, account reconciliations, transaction matching, task manager, and reporting / analysis. We also have plans to expand on these by utilizing additional Marketplace Solutions such as machine learning, people planning, etc..

So far, OneStream has improved are close process timeline, increased reporting visibility, and is very user friendly.
  • As a global company, we have multiple source systems that are used for financials. OneStream allows us to bring in the financial data from source to a consolidated view for reporting.
  • Ability to blend financial data with operational data.
  • Reporting and analysis. Ability to create a wide range of reports. From standard cube views to intricate dashboards to extensible documents that works with Microsoft Office.
  • The only issues we've experienced are directly with the business end and not with OneStream's capabilities.
  • I would like more advanced learning possibilities.
OneStream has drastically reduced our turnaround time during the month end process. Task manager has kept us on top of each steps within all processes to make sure no steps are missed, and also allows us status updates by viewing completed/open tasks. The reporting capabilities have allowed us to dive deeper into our financial results. Forecasting/budgeting will allow us to more accurately predict our future results using advanced capabilities such as AI and predictive analysis.

We use OneStream for Financial reporting (consolidation), Tax reporting, and FP&A analysis. In the near future we will also use OneStream for ESG reporting and FP&A forecasting. We are busy with the automation of data flowing in from the source ERP and the possibility to drill back to the source ERP system.
  • Flexibility
  • Consolidation
  • Documentation of all the abilities
OneStream is very well suited for a large range of scenarios. Besides the regular Consolidation engine, you can use OneStream also for reporting on non-financial data like Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG). And not only on Actuals, but also on Forecasting and Budgeting. Besides that, you can use OneStream for analysis of the financials (FP&A). The reports from OneStream itself are not that good, but exporting them to Excel or in the near future to PowerBI will solve that issue.

We are using OneStream primarily for the Account Reconciliation program, and it's nice. Also we are extending the same to use as Risk Assessment Tool.
  • Some Standard Reports are too good, which can be easily customized and fulfills the Audit needs.
  • Integration with Excel and Spread sheet component is the best feature, where in you can create dashboards in Excel as well. for Excel lovers it's nice.
  • Consolidation of the data is it's great strength, then comes the XF extensibility.
  • Metadata Upload functionality for one time is nice but if we need to modify and re-upload the same month on month, it's very difficult and needs definitely improvement.
  • Navigation between the tabs is not available which should be there, if a user wants to compare the data for 2 dashboards, it's not possible
  • Drill down feature is nice, but of no use, since to get the source data, we need to click multiple clicks and that too complete information at any point of time cannot be downloaded in an excel or a csv.
  • Work Flow Rename Hierarchy is not available , which can lead in SOX compliance issues.
  • While uploading the files in File Explorer, Multi upload files are not possible via User Interface, so practically to use that feature is a big challenge.
Auto Reconciliation Features are very well integrated and ready to use, it's like a plugin and start using the same. High-level reporting with millions of rows is not that great and OneStream has some limitations.

OneStream is used as a CPM platform for consolidation, budgeting, disclosure, IFRS reporting, cash flow and other reporting needs. It has been valuable in reducing our reporting time. Our prior application could not handle our growth in size and OneStream has proven to well suite to handle the size and growth of our company. Because OneStream is a platform, it is not only used by our finance department for consolidation, but also by Tax, HR and we are looking into expanding the new use cases like ESG, Pillar 2 etc.
  • Financial Consolidation
  • Calculations using business rules
  • Workflow
  • Reporting and disclosures
  • Data Interfaces
  • Audit trail
  • More/better excel functionalities
  • Better helpdesk support
  • Visualisation (e.g. graphs, charts)
  • Reporting layouts
OneStream is well suited for larger companies who are looking for a platform not only for consolidations but also for a other reporting purposes, for instance, planning, esg, etcetera. As it is a platform with wide range of possibilities, this has also implications on the support. Therefore it is better suited for companies who can ensure they have access to sufficient support, internal or external. For simple reporting OneStream may be to heavy of a package.

well suited OneStream can pull the multiple dimension data in a single click. we can segregate the data with U1-U8. We can get more info while drilling down the data Improvements. Need improvements on the quick view pagination issues. Also some limited lines to extract the data. cubeviews are static not dynamics.

Currently we are using OneStream for Consolidation, FP&A and Tax. For Consolidation we use a separate cube due to the enormous amount of data. Tax is using a part of this data in its own cube and here a lot of calculations and corrections are taking place. FP&A is mainly using the data from Actuals of the Consolidation cube, but in the future they will also forecast in OneStream.
  • Consolidate
  • Flexibility
  • User interface
  • Some documentation is out of date
OneStream is working very well with large volumes of data, and this improved by version 8 even further. With complex hierarchies or cross sections, I think OneStream is at its best.

For smaller companies, I think OneStream is probably a bit overkill and overwhelming. Also dashboards are nice, but not as beautiful as PowerBI.

Companies recognize their old way of manually consolidating financial data or manually preparing forecasts just isn't efficient. We help them free up time so their employees can work on higher value add items instead of trying to figure out how Excel broke the model. This leads to accountants doing analysis rather than checking for formulas that have hard-keyed amounts or broken cell references.
  • Consolidates complex entity hierarchies
  • Calculates forecasts with many drivers
  • Some improvements on documentation would be helpful.
  • The ability to use keyboard shortcuts is severely lacking.
OneStream is best suited for medium to large companies that find themselves doing a wide variety of manual processes during their financial close cycle will get the most benefit. That does mean a lot of change so there has to be very intentional communication around change management in order to get the buy in that is necessary for success.

We implemented OneStream's Marketplace solution "Account Reconciliation" 2 years ago. unlike others, our scope of Account reconciliation is not just account-to-substantiation matching, instead, we lead the industry by consolidating the substantiation from the lowest level of the business unit to the top Parent. I would call it an extended version of the Consolidation process. In this process of the build, we have used several Business rules, Transformation rules, custom dimensions, cube view dashboards, SQL editor dashboards etc.,
  • Flexibility to meet client's requirements
  • Transformation Rules
  • Data connectors
  • Customized Confirmation Rules
  • Dashboards
  • APIs
  • Admin Privileges
Using data connectors, we have loaded massive transactional data of Subledgers like AR, AP, Inventory, PPV etc., and built a detailed analysis of risk assessment dashboards for Controllers/ RFDs to take appropriate actions. These dashboards are fully automatic without any manual intervention from users. Yes, you heard it correctly, fully automatic.

Moreover, with single license clients can use multiple applications like FS close, matching modules as plug and play with minimal configurations.

For Business Planning & Consolidation. - One source of the truth - Integrated business planning from target setting to production - What If scenario planning - Streamlined consolidation processes.
  • Integrating multiple sources
  • End user process
  • Custom made calculations
  • Disclosure Management
  • Standard Calculations
All the clients that I worked for are happy with OneStream, and really using the product. With OneStream it is possible to really digitalize the total Financial Office with one source of the truth. No more discussion about data, its about analyzing not about creating data. Looking forward to integrating ESG within OneStream.

OneStream is used as the main source of truth for our financials. We pull in data from source ERP systems e.g. SAPHANA and then consolidate the data. This is used to drive the statutory and management reporting. We also use the Analytic blend module as well as Account reconciliations. We have 49 licenses and operate on a global footprint.
  • Workflows for capturing source data, Import, Forms or Journals
  • Reporting - Dashboard reports with visuals
  • Account reconcilation
  • Analytic blend
  • Extensibility across multiple scenarios or charts of accounts
  • More intuative links to connect the application to
  • Easier way to connect to other applications
  • Metadata change tool to review changes
OneStreams bread and butter offering is around its Consolidation capabilities as well as Planning and Reporting. It has a wide number of use cases for different levels of reporting across multiple scenarios. One nice feature is the same data source/mapping rules can be applied to many different scenario types.

We use OneStream as successor of Oracle HFM. First consolidation, later also budgeting and planning. It also succeeds our IFRS 16 leasing solution and will be very important in our ESG reporting soon. The platform principle of OneStream was the unique selling point. The interconnectivity of the tool stood out in comparison to the competition. Where other tools need to synchronize their data between the different parts of the tool, OneStream can access the "shared database". Independent of the cube you're working in.
  • Consolidation
  • Reporting
  • User friendliness
  • Dashboarding can be made more easy (more drag and drop)
OneStream is well suited in large size companies where multiple entities, with multiple currencies needs to be consolidated and/or budgeted for. The platform way of working and the connectivity between the different tools on the same platform is key. Budget comparing to actuals is made easy, no syncing between the two solutions is needed.

Working in the EPM environment for over 16 years on multiple products, OneStream is by far the best product out there. There are always new features that are added with each new release that go above and beyond what it was originally designed to do. Something that is lacking in it's competitors.

When a customer says, can OneStream do x and y, the answer in most cases is yes.
  • Single product that does multiple tasks. No need to buy multiple products.
  • Great support.
  • Good consolidation engine built in.
  • Extensibility
  • net and C# based. Easy to write a range of simple to complex business rules.
  • Dashboarding
  • PDF reporting
  • Data Integration capable of importing data from simple csv files to importing data from source systems using API/SQL/etc.
  • Dashboarding can be made easier.
  • Latest client and Excel addin is not compatible with previous versions.
  • OneStream has the same cube limitations that exist in other products.
OneStream excels in especially well in financial consolidation, budgeting and forecasting. The reporting aids in this being a very good all round product to get ones financials done. It also works well where there is a need to aggregate any data for reporting purposes.

With the free bolt on solutions that are provided in the Market Place, you definitely get good value for money.

I have helped implement OneStream with many customers who may use it for consolidation, budget &amp; forecasting, sales planning, people planning and much more. OneStream has all the answers for any clients need and is super user friendly. It saves the customer time and money each month with its versatility and flexibility!
  • Budgeting & Forecasting

  • People Planning
  • Consolidations
  • There are some functions that could be added to help with reporting with collapsibility options per row and not just the whole report
  • Better examples of common codes and XFBR strings
  • Customer support communication could be a little better

I help other companies implement OneStream to suit their needs. The thing I love about OneStream is its flexibility and ability to be customized for any industry. I've worked with clients in manufacturing, healthcare, research, and finance, and I have yet to not be able to make OneStream work for them. Unlike some other peer products, it has the ability to handle consolidations for the accounting department and provide the framework for integrated planning and forecasting. With its available solutions (at no additional charge), you are also able to do people planning, capital planning, and more.

AS a CEO of the organization, I must clearly understand on a daily basis what exactly is going on in all fields, including accounting, sales, collections, etc. By using Onestream, my job has been made easier. I understand the data clearly as it is presented to me very clearly and therefore making the right decision is quicker and more efficient. Data has been made easier and I can dedicate my time to defining the next steps instead of hour-long sessions downloading data as I did in the past. I´m more efficient. Fantastic!

In sales, our people are able to understand the data clearly and take a more profound decision based on data and less on their gut feeling. For the finance department, having all the data clearly visible and knowing what is missing or what next steps to advance to has also made their lives at work easier. Surely that must be one of my priorities - having happier people working in a more efficient manner!

We help organizations with their OneStream implementation journey. One such implementation was for an American Singaporean multinational electronics manufacturer. The customer was using an Excel-based approach for their Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliation Process. 1500+ users are involved in the Accounts Reconciliation process for over 50k+ accounts. There was generally a significant issue with data quality. Since they were doing a manual approach to reconciliation, the timeliness of data is a big issue. In addition to being time-consuming, here are several pitfalls that they encounter every month: - Disintegrated approach - Huge volume - Lack of Standardization - Lack of a consolidated list of action items by responsibility The company took a decision to implement the OneStream Accounts Reconciliation Solution. The solution was a comprehensive risk management tool that also involved the consolidation of data at a parent level.
  • With OneStream’s Account Reconciliation solution, the finance team can now see an overview of their reconciliations which saved a significant amount of time as compared to navigating through spreadsheets.
  • OneStream allows much detailed transactional level data (with millions of transactions) from integrated source systems to be consolidated right up to the highest level with drill-down capabilities providing a detailed audit trail as well as full transparency across the organizational hierarchy. This was the biggest benefit as to why OneStream was the preferred choice.
  • The native dashboarding capabilities allowed the company to replace their standalone BI tool with dashboards within OneStream.
  • Analytical blend capabilities provided risk management and risk governance capabilities which before this was not possible for the customer.
  • This is not a OneStream issue but more about an implementation approach where clarity should be there on how data needs to interact as well as a focus on user experience for faster user adoption.
When as an organization you have more than one finance processes that need to be on some technology platform, OneStream is a great fit. Be it consolidation & reporting, planning & budgeting, account recs, tax provisioning, close management, transaction matching, etc. all these areas are handled well in OneStream. The benefits accrue from a single place to manage master data, data, security, and quick learning for users as different workstreams are rolled out.

OneStream is being used in our finance and accounting department. We use it for consolidations, forecasting, budgeting, allocations, and people planning. We also have rolled account reconciliations out to about half the organization. We intend to keep adding on the solutions that make sense for our team. It has the capability of detailed reporting that may be of interest operationally as well. Administrators load data weekly into the system and it allows our end users to visualize how their time is being applied across customers and resources. Monthly reports are issued to senior management.
  • Easy data integration with multiple data sources.
  • Same user experience throughout the platform.
  • The ability to add on to the platform is very good. The platform is designed so that a company can use it as a central source of information. The only limitation to creating new pieces of the platform by a developer is time.
  • Better audit features on activities within the workflow.
  • Would love if it functioned more like Excel (seeing calculations/formulas/inputting/short keys)
  • Transaction matching is a newer feature and has room for growth
Financial reporting, consolidations, inter-company transaction matching, account reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, long-range planning, analytics are all out of the box. In addition, you can do many things with the OneStream XF platform. People Planning allows you a granular approach to headcount planning. Thing Planning allows you to plan things like inventory, CapEx, and other major expenditures.

I assist with and lead the implementation of the OneStream XF platform for OneStream customers. The current customer I am working with provides various types of products to restaurants. Their need is to track by department, location, and product, the cost and revenue for each of their facilities. They have a monthly reporting requirement to show year-over-year revenue analysis and trends. They need to do daily Cash Flow so they can evaluate their daily cash balances. They also do Bank Reconciliation and in the future will be doing Account level Reconciliation to identify monthly activity and further analyze financial trends.
  • Consolidation tasks, both detailed and summary status of tasks for an organization performing their monthly close.
  • Reporting, reports can be defined as repeatable monthly operational reports as well as on-demand/ad hoc reports. Many presentation formats are available including PowerPoint, PDF, MSWord, Excel, as well as Dashboards. Report Books can be produced as well for packaged, repeatable reports for distribution. Distribution can also be automated and distributed to various groups of users.
  • Anything financial, it's a one-stop-shop where you can build anything for the office of finance. Forecasting, Budgeting, Cash planning, Revenue recognition, variance analysis, commentary collection to explain the unusual activity. And it is all fully auditable.
  • Dashboards are very useful to business users, but can be time consuming to build.
  • Best practice documentation, the product is evolving and is relatively new (about 10 years old) so best practices are still be developed and communicated to the OneStream community.
  • New product feature documentation and examples.
OneStream is an outstanding consolidation product, it is easy/simple for users to identify what their tasks are using guided workflows. Reporting when done right, is very simple for end-users. The available output formats for report distribution can be accommodated based on how that organization wants to receive and review financial data. The XF MarketPlace is full of many useful tools to assist with implementation, including standard Application Reports and standard System Reports. Security Audit reports are pre-built and available for download on the XF MarketPlace so you don't need to build those. These reports are a simple import into any OneStream application and an Administrator can run them out-of-the-box to get an overview of their application and security. Improvements within the last 1-2 years in the area of detailed operational analysis have been accommodated using new features such as Analytic Blend. Large volumes of transactional data can be loaded to OneStream and reported on.

Onestream is being used in our Finance and Accounting department. We use it for Consolidations, Forecasting, Budgeting, allocations, and people planning.
  • Consolidations - income statement, balance sheet, cash flow data automatically pulls from our ERP and consolidates for our financial reporting
  • complicated calculations (if written correctly)
  • Employee by employee planning/forecasting
  • Would love if it functioned more like excel (seeing calcs/formulas/inputting/short keys)
  • drill back function is a little complicated to implement
Very complicated forecasting is well suited. Ease of use for a user that has never used a system could be better.

It's being used across the global finance organization for consolidation, reporting, forecasting and budgeting. We also have rolled account reconciliations out to about half the organization. We intend to keep adding on the solutions that make sense for our team. It has the capability of detailed reporting that may be of interest operationally as well.
  • Easy to use workflows
  • Quick processing
  • Great customer service
  • access to more add-on items from their marketplace (they are working on this)
  • more frequent minor bug fixes without full upgrade
OneStream is suited for nearly all sizes and structures. We are relatively small but I can see where it would work for very large organizations as well. We are a global company and it has no issues supporting that from a user standpoint as well as fx/reporting. OneStream has many cross-functional capabilities, many of which we have yet to take advantage of.
