Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

I've used Opentext's Teamsite, Sitecore, Orchestra, Sharepoint, Adobe Experience Manager, and wordpress. All CMS solutions have their pros and cons. There is no perfect solution. Optimizely happened to align perfectly with our Organizations needs in 2018. It has seen a considerable transformation in the past 3 years. Decide and evaluate which solution aligns well long-term with your organization's needs and is scalable for growth.

  • Sitecore Content Hub (Stylelabs)
Sitecore is a content management solution that is combined with customer experience management. It allows you to control the overall customer Sitecore does have a competent content editing Interface. While this User interface is efficient enough, several other commodities in this area seem to offer more elegant UI for editing. Sitecore will do more to provide an incredibly simple interface for editing.

Prior to Optimizely, we used Sitecore hosted on-premises. When we started to look at Cloud Migration, the price point was too high for us. Also, once we moved to Sitecore version 9.1, it became too hard to manage. The Epi (Optimizely) was priced just right. We also looked at Adobe. This solution appears to be great but too expensive.

It's just more scalable and extendable. The ability to integrate with our business systems the way we needed it to be done. Everything from security requirements (eg. changing the default authentication mechanism) to the ability to spin up new sites quickly. The ability to generate simple or complex templates that could be shared between sites for example.

I think Optimizely is better because of its product roadmap and proven history of innovation. The product and support teams are easier to work with than other competitors I've used. Great customer support.

Umbraco is a similar product that does a lot of the same things well and has a big community behind it when you need help with something. However Optimizely Content Cloud feels more refined to work with, plus the official support is sometimes a godsend when you can't find the reason for a specific problem or need help with a faulty deployment.

Previous we utilized a company called Aldrich Web Solutions which was fantastic, however the Episerver platform was able to more effectively support the number of products we had which was enormous compared to an average user. Being able to go in and build, analyze and edit integration jobs has been a huge boon when it comes to troubleshooting problems and implementing new features.

Episerver is cheaper and easier to use than Hybris, but Episerver Commerce is not as modern or easy to use as Magento for Webshops. You will need a proper partner or your own dev team to handle customizations and deploys. Make sure that you will have a team of 3-4 people, and at least 4-6 months for a basic website.

Episerver outranks these products in most cases. There are some functions in each product that you would love in Episerver but when you sum it up Episerver is the greatest :)

Preference in .Net and the limited functionality of saas offerings like Kentico has kept us on Episerver. Investigation is constant in searching for a solid .Net core solution that is headless first, and provides a similar admin experience to Episerver with a site tree navigation view.

Among all the CMS products that I've tested, Episerver had a stronger coupling with an e-commerce product (Episerver Commerce), and that was the main reason we went with it. Besides that, the main reasons why I wouldn't go with each, would be mainly:

Joomla:
  • Many plug-ins in the marketplace were very poorly written, managed by very small/one person shops, and held very little reliability for a commerce solution.
  • Ability to adapt to business demands was very low.
Salesforce:
  • Very high cost for implementing; commerce model didn't suit our business model well.
Umbraco:
  • Didn't suit our traffic needs. While the CMS support was similar, the integration between Epi CMS & Commerce provided a better experience for our users.

I was not a part of the decision to use Episerver as it was already implemented when I began at my position at Polaris. My understanding was that the team used Genesis before hand and it lacked in performance and content flexibility. Switching to Episerver has rapidly increased the potential and success that Polaris has achieved.

While other CMS software like Wix and WordPress are a lot more intuitive and aesthetically pleasing, they don't have the full functionality of what we need. As mentioned, we need to have varying levels of user access, with different product price points for each group, and we need the ability to house and organize thousands of documents. This is why we went with Episerver even though it's lacking in some of the other areas.

Episerver Web Content Management System was one of the most easy-to-use web content management systems, while also being powerful enough and customization enough to do what we needed to do as a large organization. The support provided by the vendor was useful when we were going through are site-wide redesign project.

Sitecore is leaps and bounds ahead as far as personalization and profiling are concerned. They also have much more extensible publishing options. But we know (and many clients know) that it is a.) Expensive and b.) Incredibly time consuming to implement.
