Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

  • Optimizely is only worth the money if you have a decent amount of traffic and some manpower dedicated to testing. If your organization doesn't have the resources to iterate on tests, you probably won't achieve full value from this tool.
  • Because the tool is expensive, I feel that large organizations with massive advertising and/or social footprints would benefit the best from Optimizely.
  • Optimizely can allow gradual rollouts of new features with advanced analytics, giving key stakeholders visibility into client traction with new content rollout.

  • ROI is always positive - because it's free! I've run some experiments with estimated uplift in annual revenue of over $0.5MM (or an additional 2.2% revenue).
  • It's a great tool to use for team-building. Everyone can have input to a CRO program - I prefer to send out a Google form to an entire company to allow anyone to submit ideas to the backlog.

  • Positive: ROI is high. We started seeing results based on A/B testing within a month and with personalization within two months.
  • Negative: While it is easy to use and implement, there is a learning curve that requires testing and some reading/video watching to full utilize the tool.
  • Negative: Our mobile performance did see a slight dip in traffic and increase in bounce rate as we encountered glitches on mobile.

  • Although it's fairly priced, we had to discontinue and use Target instead.
  • ROI was not great, as the questions and projects were too complex to implement with Optimizely.
  • It definitely helped us understand the importance of testing before implementation.

  • For my landing pages I am seeing a 6x increase in conversion rate.
  • For ease of use, Optimizely made things happen much quicker and allowed me to manage it and not an agency.
  • Optimizely did provide some cost savings with regard to agency expenses and once the ROI began to increase the service cost was less of a concern.

  • Being that we are still on the free version, the return on investment has been fantastic. If we were paying for it, I'd have to take a closer look.
  • We have seen a slight bump in our conversion rate based on changes that we made due to tests ran in Optimizely.
  • Using Optimizely to throw up flash sales when we are slow has really helped us. Being able to announce that we are running a sale and show sale prices on front of site without needed to take up dev resources helps us a lot.

  • Definitely had a positive impact. It takes some learning - not how to use Optimizely, but rather how to really read the results of tests. Early mistakes include not running tests on the original versions to establish the average high low conversion rates, making tests that change too many things at once, making too many versions.

  • Before using Optimizely, we were shooting in the dark with our design decisions. We'd make a change, then have to wait to see our user numbers drop over the course of a couple weeks, then roll back the changes. Our front end team would get frustrated with the wasted time, and try again. With Optimizely, our decisions are data-driven, morale doesn't take a hit, and we are always moving forward with our site.

  • Lift in Revenue and Conversion Rates. We've ran hundreds of tests, with a few big wins and a few spectacular losses. But while winning tests are implemented for 100% of visitors and immediately begin to contribute to the bottom line, even the losses can lead to more followup tests, some of which end up as winers by the 2nd or 3rd generation as well.
  • Optimizely is by far the fastest and easiest way to change content on pages, while a more permanent change is in the dev queue. This is great for almost all departments - Marketing, Compliance, Dev and QA, Customer Service, etc.

  • In the past we would have to have full development on our site for all projects, whether they ultimately were successful or not. This program has helped us lower our cost and increase employee efficiency through analysis of each performance before implementation.
  • Our lead conversion has increased through newly tested navigational and promotion elements.
