Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

It did not integrate at all with our SQL database or our SSO (single sign-on) method. This product has always been a data silo for us and that has not helped. Most of our data for projects and employees exists in SQL. We could not get it to talk to SQL.

The rating received a 9 from me because I view it a lot like Salesforce (which we use). Once you have Oracle built out within your organization, it is going to be tough to find something else to replace it. Once you're building out all of these different tools it will be even harder to switch to something else. They lock you in - in our case, we enjoy the product a lot.

We have run into a few snags that must be fixed before I can see this being a great tool for us. Right now, getting to things requires extra steps.

Still in the planning stages, but doesn't seem to be very flexible with what we need. There are extra steps, unnecessary clicks, even the mapping and the flow of the page -- it's all standard, and you can't seem to change a lot of it. For example, we can only put fields in two columns, where we're used to seeing things all over the place.

The integration for Oracle Sales Cloud with other front and back office applications has been one of the easier tasks for us. We have successfully integrated it with applications such as eBusiness Suite, ATG Commerce, Facebook, Eloqua, etc. The integrations we have implemented were done via REST web services, and they work seamlessly.

We have struggled to integrate it to Eloqua - surprising when both products are owned by Oracle. The issues here seemed to relate to the data model so I feel the low score is deserved. Where the integration struggle is related to an integration approach/decision made by the customer I don't think you can fault the target software.

Oracle provides the tools to integrate with any system that has open APIs. That said, some are more difficult than others. Most ERP systems have not been an issue. We did have more difficulty with Marketo, but eventually were able to create a 2-way integration. To be frank, most issues we've encountered are with home-ground solutions clients manage themselves. Sometimes Oracle Sales Cloud upgrades faster than the IT Team is used to making improvements to their system. Integrations sometimes break because the client system is not be upgraded.

Some of the different requests in the WSDLs can be tricky, and some of the parts of the APIs are rigid, but in general a relative integration rookie can connect to the system using a testing tool and integrate with it if they have the knowledge of the data model and what is required for the different objects.

Cautiously Optimistic

I've been involved in the integration from the start, but my focus has centered primarily on the objects affected by integration with our marketing automation platform (Lead, Contact, Account, and Opportunity objects). Since the Sales Cloud Integration app has only recently been generally available, we're still working through integration issues. For two ORCL owned platforms, the integration has not been as seamless as I'd have imagined, but we're working through it. If you plan to integrate with MAP, build more lead time than you think you need into your deployment schedule.
