As I mentioned, I have also worked with Amazon Redshift, but it is not as versatile as Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse and does not provide a large variety of products. Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse is also more reliable than Amazon Redshift, hence why I have chosen it.

I used Informatice and ODI. While Informatica provides more functionality, it is a very expensive tool. Oracle Data Warehouse gives lots of same functionality at a fraction of a cost (or free with enterprise Oracle db license)

Reason to select Oracle Data Warehouse are mentioned below:
1. If some of your old process are already setup using Oracle Data Warehouse
2. High user community, which make solving doubt using internet very easy
3. Current requirement of small and highly index database is matching with the Oracle product
4. Any Tech Team API integration is very easy in Oracle Data Warehouse
5. No additional KT required to new joiners

Since our core was Oracle ERP Cloud, we were looking for a cloud data warehouse solution from Oracle. Autonomous Data Warehouse perfectly fit that need and has already provided us with the results. Our CSM and the readily available support helps us to resolve issues and find solutions at no extra cost. The tool comes with APEX and Machine Learning developer tools that add more value to what we are planning to invest in future.

In my personal opinion, Amazon Redshift is much better than Oracle Data Warehouse in two main ways. First, it's in the Cloud which eliminates the need to purchase and maintain dedicated hardware. Second, the pricing models for Redshift are far more flexible and affordable. However, Redshift lacks the autonomous functionality that Oracle Data Warehouse provides.

Patching with Oracle Autonomous Warehouse is a breeze. With Teradata patching is a pain. Also Oracle Autonomous Warehouse is more cheaper than Teradata warehouse. Flexibility is another major factor for anyone considering Oracle Autonomous Warehouse. Extract Transform and Load process is also lot faster with Oracle Autonomous Warehouse. I have 5 stats to Oracle Autonomous Warehouse.

Oracle is, in my opinion, the top dog in this space. I feel like the other vendors are playing catch-up to where Oracle is right now. It is also likely the most expensive option out there.

Our organization adopted Oracle almost 20 years ago and there were a few options at that time. Oracle was the leading database tech company at that time and it was a safe choice to us. And they have been evolved and always ahead of new technologies, high performance, and professional business support. We didn't find a good reason to replace Oracle with any other competitors.

Hadoop still being a naive field, we have very few expertise with great knowledge in Hadoop. Oracle Data Warehouse does not support unstructured data, where as Hadoop does. There are a lot of functionalities which Oracle Data Warehouse provides, which makes us us not to go for Hadoop and many other tools, unless it is highly necessary. Hadoop is way difficult to learn compared to Oracle's easy User Interface.

Oracle DWH is a pure warehousing tool and does not try to include outside features into itself, unlike a few other warehousing platforms. This makes Oracle DWH much simpler to set up and ready to use. On the other hand, most other warehousing platforms can provide slightly below par performance and support for a significantly lower licensing cost.

Oracle data warehouse has the capability of running both the Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) databases on the same platform. This capabilities cannot be handled by other datawarehouse like TeraData. This capability helps Oracle to provide better performance in medium to heavy work load scenarios. We normally will not have just Online Analytics Process Workloads in data warehouses hence it was the best fit for the organization.

Oracle Data Warehouse became immediate selection whenever we were implementing BI solutions with Dimension Modeling and Oracle based Transactional Systems, compared to other places where we used Teradata and Netezza with 3NF model structure for BI solutions. For other various businesses, where we were required to solve data/business problems with structures/unstructured data we preferred Cloudera.

Oracle is a lot cheaper than traditional data warehouse appliance solutions, even if you get an expensive DBA who knows what he/she is doing. It definitely takes a lot more work to ensure it scales as your data size grows. While it won't scale past the terabyte sized data sets, the organization was nowhere near that point in terms of data velocity. It also was extremely flexible unlike most other data warehousing products since it is more OLTP in nature. This allows you to use languages like PL/SQL to do complex transformation that might not be possible in SQL. This allowed us to implement much more sophisticated solutions. Overall, it is a good product that provides a good blend of OLAP and OLTP features and performance.
