Not the most affordable data warehousing solution

  • We had to hire dedicated staff to manage the data warehouse. Negatively impacted ROI.
  • Initial price dented the company budget. It took twice as much time to make it all back.
  • It is not a cloud solution, so purchasing hardware to support Oracle Data Warehouse was expensive as well.

Oracle Data Warehouse is the 800 Pound Gorilla

  • We are just now opening up a Business Intelligence area in our company. In general, the business seems in love with the quick access to data.
  • Analytics and predictive functions, much of which is done with the power of the database, have helped us stay ahead of our competition.
  • This is an expensive and fantastic product all at the same time. Don't be fooled that administration costs will go down when you implement this. I believe it requires as much (or more) administration as anything out there.

  • Very cost effective for large databases.
  • Very fast results on simple queries.
  • Analytical functionalities are of wide range, which makes it very cost effective.
  • For smaller businesses, it might be a great asset.
  • Some features are supposed to be bought separately, so one needs to consider this before licensing with Oracle DW.

  • Overall the business objective of all of our clients have been met positively with Oracle Data Warehouse. All of the required analysis the users were able to successfully carry out using the warehouse data.
  • Using a 3-tier architecture with the Oracle Data Warehouse at the back end the mid-tier has been integrated well. This is big plus in providing the necessary tools for end users of the data warehouse to carry out their analysis.
  • All of the various BI products (OBIEE, Cognos, etc.) are able to use and exploit the various analytic built-in functionalities of the Oracle Data Warehouse.

  • It has always fulfilled BI solutions to all Business Problems in various sectors like Financial, Insurance, Pharma, Communication, etc
  • Its always easy to recommend the Oracle BI & Data Warehouse Solution with different transactional source systems based out of Oracle,SAP,Peoplesoft, JD Edwards because of proven out of box solutions in Datawarehouse in terms of pre-built ETL, reports & dashboards.
  • Now suggesting and recommending the Oracle BI & Datawarehouse solution is a toss-up based on where it's being considered, since it can not be possible to always recommend due to lot of various factors and systems involved in entire IT architecture.

Oracle Data Warehouse is a safe but good choice for in-house clinical data warehouse

Score 8 out of 10

Return on Investment

  • We built an enterprise analytics framework based on the Oracle Data Warehouse, which is a system-wide focus and coordination of people, processes, and technologies that ensures important data assets are leveraged. This led to better decision making, resulting in increased business and clinical value (better outcomes, lower costs, healthier people.)
  • Through the framework, several benefits were presented quantitively or qualitatively: reduced variation in analytics practice, identification and elimination of duplicated efforts, and removal of unnecessary siloes in information within the enterprise.
  • The Data Warehouse is well harmonized with advanced analytics tools in our organization such as visualization (Tableau, Cognos,) statistical tools (R, SAS, SPSS), and machine learning (Ayasdi).
